Get your drone hunting license!

This is too good!

Deer Trail, a small Colorado town, is considering an ordinance that would allow its residents to hunt for federal drones and shoot them down.

The ordinance states, “the Town of Deer Trail shall issue a reward of $100 to any shooter who presents a valid hunting license and the following identifiable parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle whose markings and configuration are consistent with those used on any similar craft known to be owned or operated by the United States federal government.”

If passed by the town board, Deer Trail would charge $25 for drone hunting licenses and they would be valid for one year.

The Feds and Obama better wake up. The country is in almost total revolt over ObamaCare, drones, NSA spying, Moochelle’s school lunches, etc.

Don’t Even Go There

New iPhone will have fingerprint sensor?

Examination of Apple’s latest beta software has revealed a folder labeled ‘Biometric Kit’ in iOS7.

A string of code from iOS 7 revealing ‘a fingerprint that changes colour during the setup process’ was posted online yesterday, sparking rumours that the new iPhone could contain a fingerprint sensor.

If the rumours are true, the latest iPhone will be the first Apple product to feature such a sensor, which could be used for unlocking the homescreen or confirming identity for payment from the App Store or other outlets. Any sensor would likely be embedded into the physical home button.

Earlier this year it was reported that a supply chain source in Taiwan said Apple had been forced to delay production of the next iPhone due to failure to find a coating material that did not interfere with the fingerprint sensor.

I think people may finally be wising up. Too little and way too late, but that’s par for the course. More than 110 comments on the article so far. Comment #1 says Why Bother with front end security, when the government is peeling all your data out the back? Comment #3 wonders how long until Apple sends your fingerprints to the government? Well duh. A few hours, at best. That’s what it’s all about. Photo and fingerprint ID for every citizen, every phone call and credit card transaction ever made, every banking record, vehicle ownership, CCTV monitoring of your car’s location by license plate identification, and real time GPS location of the cell phone in your pocket. All your school records, your DNA, and soon all your health records. In other words, the government knows everything about you and where you are at all times. And that’s OK. But voter ID is racist.

And Away We Go

Peter King (RINO: NY) Calls For More Eyes For Big Brother

Not even 24 hours later. Not even one full day.

ANDREA MITCHELL, MSNBC: Congressman, briefly, do you think that this will lead to more cameras? I know it’s controversial, there are privacy issues. Boston does have a lot of cameras. European cities, led by London, have the most. Are Americans going to have to get used to more surveillance on a daily basis?

REP. PETER KING (R-NY): I think we do because I think privacy involves being in a private location. Being out in the street is not an expectation of privacy. Anyone can look at you, can see you, can watch what you’re doing. A camera just makes it more sophisticated, but it’s no different from your neighbor looking out the window at you or a police officer looking at you walking down the street.

So, I do think we need more cameras. We have to stay ahead of the terrorists and I do know in New York, the Lower Manhattan Security Initiative, which is based on cameras, the outstanding work that results from that. So yes, I do favor more cameras. They’re a great law enforcement method and device. And again, it keeps us ahead of the terrorists, who are constantly trying to kill us.

I hope also that members of Congress, both parties, including my own, will realize that the war against terror is not over. And it’s foolhardy to be making cuts in Homeland Security, especially to cities, whose police departments need this to train and to be ready to take on terrorism

Bull and Shit, King. Cameras record, and records can be shared. Don’t want it, don’t need it. And they haven’t done Smiddly-Widdly over there in the UK, home of Knife Violence! and Teenage Stomping Murders! So, BFD. So please STFU. MFCSPOS RINO.

are you the same sex as the one you were born with?

The Times We Now Live In

You could not make this up.

It’s a letter to the editor of the Daily Mail, and it really says something but I am at a loss to find all of the words its says.

It reads as follows and sorry, no link because I can’t find any letters on line at the Mail as we can at other papers.

I tried to complain on the Harrow council’s website about the traffic light phasing in Stanmore, Middlesex.

It’s a three way junction and the lights are green on whichever side side you are trying to cross.  If you can’t walk fast or run – you’ve had it.

After filling in the form with my name, address and details of my complaint, I was asked:  a) was I the same sex as when I was born; b) what is my sexual orientation; c) what’s my religion; and d) what is my marital status?

These questions were mandatory and if I did not answer them my complaint could not be processed.

When I decided not to proceed, another form appeared asking me why I had cancelled my original form.

I replied that I resented being asked personal questions that were absolutely nothing to do with me wanting to cross the road safely.

Spying for no reason

Library of Congress Storing 170 Billion Tweets

Oh please. 99.999996% of everything on Twitter is just crap. But it’s data; it’s conversation between citizens. So the government is storing it, analyzing it, and will of course be handing over anything remotely “suspicious” to the NSA. The Thought Police are here, or at least the Tweet Patrol. What a total waste of taxpayer money, and what a perfect example of the government keeping tabs on everyone.

Fuck this, and fuck them.

An effort by the Library of Congress to archive Twitter posts has amassed more than 170 billion tweets, which the library is now seeking to make available to researchers and other interested parties.

Created in 1800, the Library of Congress serves as the unofficial library of the United States, as well as being Congress’ official research library.

In April 2010, the library signed an agreement with Twitter to gain access to all public tweets since the site’s founding in 2006.

“Twitter is a new kind of collection for the Library of Congress but an important one to its mission,” Gayle Osterberg, the library’s director of communications, wrote in a blog post. “As society turns to social media as a primary method of communication and creative expression, social media is supplementing, and in some cases supplanting, letters, journals, serial publications and other sources routinely collected by research libraries.”

Osterberg wrote that the library has completed digitally archiving all of the tweets it currently possesses and is now working on how to best make them available to the public. The library already has received about 400 requests from researchers all over the world looking into topics ranging from the rise of citizen journalism to tracking vaccination rates to predicting stock market activity.

The archive promises to keep growing fast. Currently, the library is processing roughly 500 million tweets per day, up from about 140 million daily messages in 2011, according to the blog post.

Blah blah blah, as if any of that nonsense has the slightest bit of importance. The people who request access to the data will be marketing groups trying to drill down into it to spotlight trends and to target market their products. The rest, aside from NSA using it as a spy tool, is garbage.

Not that Twitter was innocent here. Or any other of the social network sites. They are all about collecting, analyzing, and then selling a nearly infinite amount of personal data about everyone. No. The “we’re all connected” meme that you should share every detail of your life with the public is complete crap. Not only does it give you a false sense of self-importance which you don’t deserve, it trains you to forget about anything that was ever called privacy.

Big Brother also stores your telephone and cell phone conversations, and most likely any emails sent by or to the common email engines (gmail, yahoo, etc). And they’ll open your paper mail if they feel like it. So there is no communication privacy, and hasn’t been for a very long time.

“no search without a warrant” ... what a laugh. Who needs a warrant when you make your every thought, emotion, experience, and attitude public. Suckers.

So keep on Tweeting sheeple.

comrades in labour party will tell ppl how and what to eat. and it’s all for the kiddies.

This is another one of those, I must share before going on to other things.

I have no doubt that things loaded with sugars and salts etc. can be overdone. Perhaps not even healthy.  But shouldn’t what you feed your children for breakfast be up to you?  As I think about this, and not being a fan of either product or even a parent, I also wonder if the govt. or in this case a political party (Labour), should be able to TELL people what to consume.  Or tell them what to feed their kids. OK, knee jerk reaction is of course hell no.  Then what about parents who are clueless or maybe don’t believe the warnings and continue to give kids this product?  Are they bad parents?

Any way we view this, I can not think but this is a very bad idea.  What’s next if they get this through?  There are loads of things out there that aren’t good for us. They may be okay but taken to extreme ... not so good.  Forget things like tobacco and drugs.  I am only referring to ..... foods.

Apparently some talking heads here have discovered that it is not only America that is way overweight (we are???)but there is a serious weight problem here in the UK, which is having a bed affect not only on the health of the public and especially, the kiddies.  Oh no.  It’s also costing the economy and the National Health Service millions, to treat weight related illness.  Something they say, must be done.

And so enter politicians and govt. and legislation and the outlawing or at least the modification of some favorite foods.  I guess parents just are not listening to the folks who know all things.

Make high levels of fat, sugar and salt in children’s food ILLEGAL, say Labour

By James Chapman

Labour is to propose new legal limits on levels of fat, sugar and salt in children’s food.

Shadow health secretary Andy Burnham will say urgent action must be considered to tackle spiralling levels of obesity.

One option to be considered in the party’s public policy health review is to outlaw products with more than a maximum level of fat, sugar and salt which are targeted at children to try to reverse the trend.

image

A consultation paper identifies a number of breakfast cereals containing more than 30 per cent sugar according to research by Which?, including Kellogg’s Frosties, with 37.0g of sugar per 100g and Tesco Choco Snaps with 36.1g per 100g.

The latest research by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), shows that in the UK, 26.6 per cent of girls and 22.7 per cent of boys are now considered ‘obese’.

Meanwhile, the National Child Measurement Programme last month reported that one-third of children in England are either overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school. Overweight children are at a greater risk of developing diabetes and cancer.

It is clear that the current voluntary approach is not working.

Mr Burnham said: ‘The findings of the OECD should shock us out of our complacency.  We need to open our minds to new approaches in tackling child obesity.

‘Labour wants to lead this debate. That is why we are asking the public and experts if new limits for sugar, fats and salts would be the right approach. Like all parents, I have bought products like cereals and fruit drinks, marketed as more healthy, that contained higher sugar levels than expected. I don’t think that any parent would be comfortable with their child eating something that is 40 per cent sugar.

Mr Burnham has begun consulting with the public and experts on the issue, and is considering proposing a 30 per cent cap on sugar in cereals.

Professor Gabriel Scally, former regional director of public health at the Department of Health, said: ‘The continued rise in childhood obesity is an urgent call to action and must not be ignored.

‘I applaud the Labour Party for tackling the issue of the foodstuffs filling our children with the empty calories that fuel obesity. Helping parents protect and promote the future health of our children is exactly what we need to be doing.’

Paul Wheeler, of Kellogg’s, said: ‘Frosties has been on sale for more than 60 years and by now we think people know there’s sugar in them - we’re not hiding it.

‘The problem with ideas like this is they want an easy, silver bullet solution to what is a very difficult issue. It all boils down to the fact we believe parents, and not the government, should choose what their kids eat.’

A Department of Health spokesman said: ‘By working with industry through the Responsibility Deal we have helped to reduce fat, sugar and salt in foods.

‘There is now less salt in the food we buy, companies are cutting and capping calories and artificial trans fats are being widely taken out of food.’

The spokesman added: ‘We are working to reduce the amount of salt in food further, cut saturated fat consumption and we are exploring how to promote healthier food choices more widely. We also want more businesses making pledges so we get bigger results.’

source

Sure, cut the salt and the sugar so we can put it back in at home.

Over time I have noticed the odd food here and there doesn’t taste as good as I remember it.  Hadn’t occurred to me till recently, as I started looking at the labels more, that ingredients are being reduced, along with the weights and measures. Not the price though.

To hell with free speech.  Part 2 ????

To Hell With Free Speech Pt. 2?

Never ends does it?

I sometimes wonder how I could have gotten this old and learned so little.

But then I say to myself, self, don’t worry so much about that.
Look at what these idiots do.

And then I read things like the following and don’t feel so bad.

Take a look. I could not make this up. No way.

House of Lords staff banned from bantering with colleagues in case it is deemed offensive

· New rules have been branded ‘Orwellian’

· Staff told banter can ‘alienate’ and upset other staff

By Chris Hastings and Peter Henn

It prides itself on being the home of independent thought and robust free speech.

But now the House of Lords has been branded ‘Orwellian’ after it advised its staff to avoid office banter on the grounds that it can be offensive.
Employees of the second chamber have been advised that even seemingly harmless chat can lead to other colleagues feeling left out and alienated.
The advice has been issued to hundreds of staff as part of a series of taxpayer-funded equality and diversity sessions on ‘cultural awareness’.
During the two-hour sessions, staff are told that the ‘golden rule’ of treat others as you would like to be treated has been replaced by the ‘platinum rule’ of treat others as they would like to be treated.
A section on ‘effective communication’ advises participants to ‘avoid banter’, ‘to allow people to self-identify’ and ‘to make minority groups visible using inclusive terms’.

During the past 12 months, almost 300 House of Lords employees have been on equality and diversity courses at a cost to taxpayers of just over £18,000.
The House’s clampdown on banter has infuriated campaigners and writers, who insist it is part and parcel of office life. Chrissie Maher, founder of the Plain English Campaign, said: ‘I thought the House of Lords is supposed to be a place where people can speak their minds.

to hell with free speech!  oh, okay. no problem.

An arrest made over unpopular speech. Only politically correct sentiments are allowed to be expressed in our brave new world.

The guy’s thinking may be askew, but it’s what he feels and so he expressed himself on Facebook.
I think he’s being stitched up due to his very unpopular opinion. Not because he incited racial hatred.  These days where muzzies are concerned, nobody can incite anyone else to hatred because the hate already exists.  People read papers and blogs and communicate over the net and are aware of how things are.  How many times over the last few years have we read about folks or heard them express deep concern that they are losing their country?  And it isn’t all hate at all, although there is that as well of course.

This guy approved of what the mass killer in Norway did.  Well, that’s quite a stretch really.  He thinks that killing those young people was right, because they were future liberal leftists, who he sees as responsible for the mass immigration of an alien people and culture and religion that will sink the west.  Well now, he’s correct about that and no argument there. They will eventually sink the west, because the west doesn’t have the will to protect itself in a manner necessary to insure it’s survival.  It’s much, much too busy being politically correct, as the arrest for a race crime of this man shows.  But I’ll have to hand it to the authorities.  When someone expresses an unkind and unpopular opinion, shut him down quickly.
We can not afford any of that there free speech nonsense. No sir.  The only speech that should be free is that speech approved by the police.

“To Hell With Free Speech”

Does that look familiar?

Father-of-three arrested after praising Anders Breivik for trying to stop ‘invasion by the Muslim population’ on Facebook

Philip Horn says he ‘takes his hat off to mass murderer
Horn is thought to have links with the English Defence League

By Daily Mail Reporter

A British dad has been arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred after praising mass murderer Anders Breivik on Facebook, it emerged today.

Philip Horn, 44, allegedly said on the social networking site that he ‘takes his hat off’ to the infamous gunman.

The Norwegian slaughtered 77 adults and teenagers when he bombed government buildings in Oslo and carried out a mass shooting on the island of Utoya in July last year.

Horn, a father-of-three, from Gillingham, was arrested by Kent Police on Thursday afternoon and is currently being held in custody.

Horn, who is reported to have links with the English Defence League, is also alleged to have publicly supported Breivik’s crusade to ‘protect his country from Muslims’.

The unemployed builder from Gillingham, Kent, is said to have posted a message saying: ‘Well done Anders Breivik. I take my hat off to you sir.

‘You proved you were not insane and that you are just one of many like myself who wish their country to return to the way it was before it was invaded by the Muslim population. Respect to you.’

He was also filmed by a national newspaper saying: ‘If someone came to my door in a uniform and said they were going to bang me up for six months then fine. I’m not going to retract any remarks I made.

‘To a certain extent I do defend what he’s [Breivik] done. Go back 40-50 years ago to Norway, would you have seen people walking around in burkas and all that?

‘I am a racist to a certain extent. Of course it’s wrong to kill children, but if he had to do it that way to get his point across, so be it.’

A Kent Police spokesman said: ‘During the afternoon of Thursday, August 30 a 45-year-old man from Gillingham was arrested on suspicion of inciting racial hatred.

‘He is currently in police custody.’

pygmies of politics draw a line in the sand, warn assad how to act in his own country

I heard on the radio that Obama has drawn a line in the sand (now that’s an appropriate word, sand is.) with regard to the use of chemical weapons by Assad. Then the Brit PM got into the act, not wanting to leave the bright and brave spotlight on O., and he too drew a line in the sand on the same issue.  Now France wants to flex military muscle because they are suggesting an alliance of western powers and bypassing the United Nations can you believe that?  The French suggest a limited version of a no fly zone. They want action but short of war.

As I listen to all this bloated bull shit from these political pigmies, I am left with the notion that France and the USA and the Brits, are all actually hoping like mad that Assad does use chemical weapons and thus give them the excuse they are desperate to find, to topple him.

Another thought also comes to mind.

All that lovely technology used in the action in Libya, and it could be that the war there ended too quickly for the allies to use some other toys.
And lets face it, we do have so much unused and untested so far in actual warfare.

Oh joy.  Now here’s their chance in Syria to play with some more toys, if only Assad will co-operate and use his weapons of mass destruction.  It’s sort of like real estate with location, location, location.
But in this case with Syria and President Assad, it’s chemical weapons, chemical weapons, chemical weapons.
Never mind that so far at least, he has not issued so much as a threat to do that.
In fact, the allies have been clear that even the threat will be enough to bring them in on Syria’s civil war.

I guess the bottom line is no surprise.
Only those govts. who have the approval of the politically correct powers that rule in the west, are allowed to defend themselves against armed insurgents hiding among civilians.  Insurgents who quickly cry democracy and call themselves freedom fighters usually get the front pages and the support they need.  The party in power almost always loses the propaganda war and the other over used cry is then heard.

Civilians are being slaughtered by their own government.  There’s mass-a- crees being committed and it’s all documented by who?
Right.  “Activists”.  Amnsty Intl., Civil Rights Watch, and a dozen other nosy do gooders who’ve no business there in the first place.

It does look very much like Assad could be ousted.  There’s talk here that Brit specialists are already there and have been. Hell, who’d know?
But I wonder what would replace him?

So do the few Christians who remain and whose questions have yet to be answered.

grasser - brit speak for squeeler - stool pigeon - rat fink busy body

How’s this for an example of ..... Wait a minute.  Lemme think.

Ok here’s the story. See the guy in the photo?  Pretty foolish working with a chainsaw like that.
So let me ask you people reading this.

Would you report this guy to the authorities for working without safety gear and violating several safety regs.?

Well, this photo was shot thru the window of a neighbor who took the picture and did just that. The busy body reported him and he ended up paying one hell of a fine.

Here’s the whole story.

Elf ‘n’ safety might have got this one right: Gardener must pay £6,000 after neighbour catches him perched on treetop while holding a chainsaw

John Holland had no protective clothes, no ropes, and one foot on the tree and the other on the ladder

He was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay £2,000 costs ( $9,400.00 )

By PAUL BENTLEY

image

Perched precariously on a ladder with one foot on a branch and no harness in sight, landscape gardener John Holland gets to work with a chainsaw.

But while the immediate risk to his safety may have been obvious, it was an unseen danger which cost him dear in the end – a man with a camera in the next door garden.

Mr Holland, 53, has been landed with a £6,000 bill after the neighbour took a picture of him and reported him and his colleague to the authorities.

The furious gardener claims the fee is far too high, but health and safety bosses insist it was ‘sheer good fortune’ that he did not hurt himself or anyone else.

Mr Holland was working in Deeping St James, Lincolnshire, when he was spotted by a local resident balancing at the top of a 20ft tree.

Without wearing the necessary protective clothing or using safety ropes, he had scaled the tree using a ladder which was wider than the trunk.

Once at the top, Mr Holland wrapped one arm around the trunk and balanced with one foot on a branch and the other on the ladder. In his left hand he can be seen holding a chainsaw.

What he didn’t know was that he had been spotted by a neighbour who happened to be trained in assessing chainsaw work and who later reported him to the Health and Safety Executive.

At Spalding magistrates’ court, the landscape gardener admitted breaching a series of regulations on working at height and using protective equipment. He was fined £4,000 and ordered to pay £2,000 costs.

Mr Holland, who owns JH Landscaping Services, insists he should not have been fined because he was unaware there were any problems with his style of pruning.

‘As soon as the HSE informed me of the technical faults of what we were doing we went out there and then went on more training courses and put everything right,’ he said.

‘But they still wanted to go ahead and prosecute me to make an example of me so word would get around to other people of how seriously they take this kind of thing.

I was ordered to pay £6,000 but the maximum fine for each offence is £20,000.

‘You can break into a house with criminal intent and the maximum fine is just £5,000, but I could have been fined £20,000 for just having the wrong trousers.’

HSE inspector Neil Ward said: ‘Chainsaws are dangerous pieces of machinery in untrained hands.

‘It is sheer good fortune that no one was hurt that day.’

the nanny state in the USA. wish I could say it ain’t so Joe

too good to pass and glad I managed to check my inbox tonight. discovered a ton of mail.

H/T Doc Jeff for this one.

It has been in the news here btw. Even interviews on BBC. What a crock. And the NY mayor the chief crock. What’s with that guy. So then, what’s to stop anyone from buying two smaller sizes to get the amount they want.  Or is Big brother bloomer gonna ban that? Sheesh. Ridiculous nanny type interference.
Surely there must have been a time in the USA when, if a mayor tried on something like this in NY, he’d have been hounded from office.  Or, was a time no NY mayor would have suggested it to begin with.
There’s the signpost up ahead.  Next stop. Cameras inside everyone’s home.

Firms face compulsory quotas if they don’t put women in top jobs

A nice socialist solution?
Mr. Cable as you’d guess, is a left winger and this sort of thing is dear to his heart.
Can you imagine setting aside a prescribed number in a case like this to be able to check the pc boxes.
Well, the new head of state in France is working on it. His declared goal of a cabinet made up of 50% female has been reached. Not my concern and good for them. But I can’t help but wonder as others do, what sort of qualifications do they come to the job with? Or was the qualification, female?

Mr. Cable and a few friends are most concerned that there aren’t enough ladies on the boards of companies. Not demeaning women in any way but, how many are there who want to but can’t because evil men are keeping them out?  Not saying women haven’t been unfairly treated many times in the job market. But Cable and crew are assuming the companies are some sort of anti female conspiracy trying to keep women out. So, his solution is to arbitrarily fix a number to be grafted onto businesses with boards.
Affirmative action anyone?

More then anything else however, this reminds me of a brainless lefty suggestion by a member of the previous govt. Some of you regulars might recall my post on the subject of, fishing.  Think it’s a joke? Think again.

A few years ago it was said that the famed fishing rivers of England were enjoyed by too many white middle aged men. So the brainless twits on the left thought it would be a good idea to make fishing and fishing lessons available.
To muslim women.  Who it was found, were not to be found enjoying England’s fishing streams and rivers or wherever it was fish go to relax.

I always thought it was my local Tesco, since that’s where my wife had always caught the fish she brought home.
Needless to say, the plan went nowhere. But that anyone thought it was something worthy of a govt. program says a lot about the loons.

Firms face compulsory quotas if they don’t put women in top jobs insists Vince Cable

By JAMES CHAPMAN
PUBLISHED: 22:07, 4 June 2012 | UPDATED: 22:07, 4 June 2012-06-06
Businesses could be hit with compulsory quotas to increase the number of women on boards unless they raise the number voluntarily said Vince Cable.
The Business Secretary said he was ready to introduce legal targets if firms had failed to ensure a quarter of executives at board level were female by 2015.
He also suggested that if he were prime minister, half of the Cabinet would be women.
Mr Cable said there were encouraging signs that firms were beginning to heed calls for gender equality – revealing figures suggesting that in the past three months, half of new appointments to FTSE company boards have been women.

He said he planned to ‘name and shame’ companies that fail to make further progress. One in ten of Britain’s biggest firms still has all-male boards.
‘It’s very, very important that women are there in numbers,’ Mr Cable said.

‘Our objective is to get a quarter of all board membership being women by 2015.
‘Our current approach, which is trying to change the culture, trying to name and shame, I think will work. If it doesn’t, we can look at things like quotas.
‘There is a body called the Financial Reporting Council that requires companies to declare publicly what they do.
‘So companies will be in the future publicly identified and there will then be a role for me to go out and say publicly, “This is a disgrace, you should change your behaviour”.’
Asked whether he woul0d introduce quotas if that approach failed to deliver the target figures, the Business Secretary said: ‘I would, yes. I think that’s a perfectly legitimate last resort. But I think the current approach that we have adopted is beginning to produce serious results, so let’s give it a chance.’

NOW HERE’S WHERE THINGS PICK UP AND GET REALLY INTERESTING. Mr Cable is not the lone voice on the subject. Oh no.
There is this super body of unwanted gas bags.

The EU has announced a consultation on how to increase women’s presence on corporate boards, warning that progress towards equality is too slow.
Mandatory quotas are being threatened if member states fail to make sufficient progress.

The EU’s Justice Commissioner, Viviane Reding, has warned that on current rates of change, it will take more than 40 years for women to hold 40 per cent of board positions in Europe’s publicly traded companies.
In Britain, companies are working towards a voluntary target to increase the percentage of women on FTSE 100 boards to 25 per cent, up from 12.5 per cent last year. But business leaders have warned against compulsory quotas.

On BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour the Business Secretary also took a swipe at David Cameron’s failure to meet an aspiration that a third of his ministers should be women. There are five women – all Conservative – in the Cabinet.

In a reference to the new French president’s decision to make half of his top team female, Mr Cable said: ‘If I ever finish up in Mr Cameron’s job, and who knows what could happen, you might well get a Francois Hollande moment.’
Meanwhile, Tory MP Peter Bone demanded that Vince Cable be sacked from the Cabinet after it emerged that the Business Secretary was in contact with Labour to discuss a possible alliance following the next election.

american martial arts expert banned from uk. see this and read the article. what idiots!

Earlier today I heard an interview on the radio with an American who is at this moment, being barred from entering the country. Really got the ole dander up.
He’s a martial arts guy who was invited to a convention or gathering of some kind. He teaches and lectures on that subject.  Whoa .... but he’s too ruff and violent for the Home Secretary and so he’s not allowed in.  What an insult considering the loons and the outright criminals that slip thru and then stay here on benefits.
But lets not talk about self defense in ways that aren’t couched in cotton fluff I guess. AND, one MP slag of the left had congratulated the Home Sec.

Here’s what the idiot said.

West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper, who had warned Home Secretary Theresa May about the visit, welcomed the move.

She said: ‘I’m grateful to the Home Secretary for taking the appropriate action and not allowing this man into our country.

‘He teaches extreme and violent self defence that is unwelcome here.

and there’s this little bit of total BS.

‘The decision to bar Mr Larkin from the UK demonstrates the value of constant alertness when it comes to border controls.

Oh yeah. They’re really alert okay. Read the papers. Yes, I know papers tend toward the sensationalist.  Does that make em any less true?

You really must see the article, I wish you all could have heard the interview where the left leaning idiot doing the interview kept bringing up the ‘V’ word and trying to interrupt Tim Larkin.
And don’t miss the comments that follow the article here. Most interesting.

pc health police shut down hospital burger king

This is I gather, what happens in a socialist nanny state.  What an outrage.
It is not as though Burger King doesn’t sell salads and other items with less calories and fat.  But that aside, there are damn few hospital cafeterias and none in our area, that are worth much.  So personally, I’d welcome mouth satisfying food as served by BK. And it isn’t like I eat there every day or even every month.
Why can’t people choose for themselves without having other people decide for them?

And talking about sending out the wrong messages.  I have seen a few medical staff who didn’t exactly fit the image of exercise and healthy eating.
I wonder what sort of brainwashed world this new generation born in 2012, will see in 2037 when I won’t be here to see it for myself.  And perhaps I won’t want to witness it all and so might be lucky.  They’re being born into a world where everything will be proscribed for them.  Things will be forbidden but it won’t matter since they won’t grow up in a world where they’ll have the experience of choice.
Pessimistic I suppose but that’s how I see it.

Hospital facing $4.8m cuts forced to pay $31,395 to shut Burger King on its site

Fast food store which opened in 1997 has been replaced by Costa Coffee

By ROB COOPER

An NHS trust paid £24,000 to shutdown a Burger King restaurant inside a hospital.

The outlet in the entrance area of Croydon University Hospital in Surrey has sold burgers and high fat meals to patients for 14 years.
But it was replaced with a Costa Coffee outlet at hefty cost to the taxpayer in December last year following pressure from health campaigners.
The £24,000 ($31,395) cost is enough to cover the salary of lower grade nurse for a whole year.

They accused the hospital of hypocrisy for taking money from the fast food chain at a time when Britain is undergoing an obesity crisis.
The Burger King was located close to notice boards promoting healthy eating.
Explaining the decision, Croydon Health Service said the ‘world had changed’ since bosses signed the contract with Burger King in 1997 to open the fast food restaurant.
Figures obtained under freedom of information laws reveal the NHS Trust paid £24,000 to Compass UK - the company operating the fast food franchise - to terminate the contract.
The trust said none of the money would go to Burger King itself.
The hospital has to find £34.7million savings over the next three years and has been forced to axe 200 jobs and close four wards.
Hospital bosses hope to claw back some of the money by opening a new pharmacy in the entrance area.
The decision has been welcomed by Croydon North MP Malcolm Wicks.
The Labour MP said: ‘From the first time I saw the wretched burger joint, I was upset about it.

“The trust said none of the money would go to Burger King itself.”
They make it appear as if money going to BK would be a high crime, and saying that none of the money would go them, makes it look more like an apology.  But we’re not giving money to “those people.”

A Labour MP. Tells ya all you need to know.  Not that many conservatives don’t deserve a swift kick. The left is ever happy to be outraged or offended on behalf of others and will happily do the thinking for others as well.

‘Advertising and selling fast food, which is generally unhealthy, really grates with what a modern hospital is about.
‘I’ve badgered successive chief executives about getting rid of the thing, so I wouldn’t criticise the hospital for finally taking the right decision, though the costs are substantial.’
Folake Segun from patients group Croydon Shadow Health Watch said: ‘Hopefully the trust will take the opportunity to properly consult with the community before bringing in such companies in the future.’
he original contract was signed in 1997 between the hospital’s landlord Heathcrof Properties and Compass UK.
Croydon Health Service chief executive Nick Hulme said the hospital had never had direct control over what businesses operate in the entrance area.
He said: ‘We made a business decision to invest in this change which will give our patients and visitors a better service.’

Wanna bet? Don’t hold your breath for that. It’s what they always chant. It’s a mantra. Better service, we’ll learn from our mistakes, it’s good for the kids who are our only concern, yadda, yadda.  It all translates to, stop thinking for yourself. We know what’s best for you.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
