Been Busy
Sorry for the paucity of posting today but I've been busy trying to find a firearm.Went to my local dealer and found a couple of interesting prospects which I will research a bit more on the 'net.
One is a Ruger P97 with night sites. He wants $425. I have no idea if that's a good price as I've not found an exact match on the web.
Another is a regular Ruger KP97 for $400. Both are never-fired weapons.
The last was a Glock M21 for $545.
You folks know more than I do about this stuff.
Basically I am looking for something not overly expensive in the 45 caliber category. Recommendations range from a ParaOrdnance, to Kimber, to Glock, Smith and Wesson and Ruger.
Hell, I just want something to kill bad people with. Maybe put 50 rounds a month through it. I have no intention of getting caught up in the "my target group MUST be in the less than 2 inch range at 25 yard on a bench rest before I buy it" category.
I want something that when the shit hits the fan, I can put thousands of rounds through it without needing to worry if the barrel can take it or if it will repeatedly misfire.
That's not much to ask, is it?
Next step? A Ruper GP 100. Hell, I even saw a VERY nice Taurus 8 shot. Sweet looking little thing in a 6 inch barrel.
Then a carry pistol (with holster, natch!)
Then a conceled weapons permit class.
Anyone care to share thoughts?

May The Force Be With You
20th Century Fox And Lucasfilms are finally going to release Star Wars, Episode IV through VI on DVD. It will be a four-disc collection with and extra director's commentary and special scenes. Suggested retail price .... $70 but you can pre-order through Amazon for only $41.99.The bad news: The versions of Lucas' beloved films that are on these new DVDs are not the original theatrical releases but the special editions that played in theaters in 1997. Rumor have circulated about additional changes. As long as Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is still in that skimpy outfit in Episode V (or was it VI?), I don't care. Mheh-heh ....

Haircuts, Advice, And Hairy Men
By now you've heard about Kerry flying in a hair stylist to trim his mop, right? Yep, I wrote about it yesterday. She's the same one he'd used before and the same person I'd commented on back in April.Funny how the press never seems to criticize the "man of the middle class working stiff" for using French born hair stylists and tours around with a manservant. I don't know about you but when I take a trip somewhere I do not pay for my neighbor (who is also my barber) to fly out and give me a trim. Nor have I ever had a "manservant."
I guess there ARE two America's as the Breck Girl so often mentions: one that The Poodle and The Breck Girl live in and another where we live.
My point? Hell, who knows? I detest The Poodle so much sometimes I revert to randomness in my rants.
Let's see.....where was I going with this? Oh! YEAH!! The Poodle.
Not only does he get "several thousand dollar" haircuts AND has a personal manservant, he also dispenses dating tips. Along those lines comes this from The Opinion Journal's Best of the Web.
As is so typical of his "do as I say but not as I do" philosophy, read this and think, "Teh-RAY-Zah"
"Look for what gets your heart. Someone who excites you, turns you on. . . . It's a woman who loves being a woman. Who wears her womanhood. Who knows how to flirt and have fun. Smart. Confident. . . . And obviously sexy and saucy and challenging."
Once more, think, "Teh-RAY-Zah." You getting the same disconnect I got? (sexy? saucy? fun? flirty?)
We may be told to follow this advice but what Kerry did was just the opposite. He followed the "money, money, money, money!"
While on the subject of haircuts and hair, remember I posted about this Chinese guy considered to be one of the hairiest in the world?
Here's a more updated picture along with another story highlighting the two who ARE the hairiest people on earth.

Daily Dose
Quote Of The Day"I'm not a real movie star. I've still got the same wife I started out with twenty-eight years ago."
-- Will Rogers (1879 - 1935)
On This Day In History
August 18, 1920 - Woman Suffrage Amendment Ratified
The 19th Amendment to the Constitution, guaranteeing women the right to vote, is ratified by Tennessee, giving it the two-thirds majority of state ratification necessary to make it the law of the land. The amendment was the culmination of more than 70 years of struggle by woman suffragists. Its two sections read simply: "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex" and "Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation."

Mo’ Better
Aaahhhh, mo' better. I finally got around to running my maintenance routines on the blog site. I've had to let them slide for several weeks and some of our readers have started seeing delays in posting comments. I've started seeing delays in uploading posts too. I hate it when that happens.I ran an optimization and and analyze routine on our MySQL databases and cleaned out the filesystems of dead files. Everything should load quicker now.
Now if I could just get my lawn mower to cooperate as easily ......

EU/UN Hypocrisy
How many have been following the brouhaha regarding the wall the Israelis are building to separate them from the Palestinians? How many of you also know this wall has virtually ground most terrorist attacks on Israel to a screeching halt? (Ask yourself, when was the last time the front pages or any page for that matter, of any newspaper has had anything in there about large scale terrorist attacks on Jews?)How many of you also know that the World Court condemned Israeli for building this wall and demanded they tear it down?
How many of you knew the United Nations passed a resolution supporting the World Court?
Now................................
(AHEM)
How many of you know the EU was soliciting bids to build a similar wall to separate Poland and Hungary from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine? Why? To keep out illegal aliens who might impact the economy of Poland and Hungary. And, OBTW, the contractor submitting bids for the work? The same one doing Israel's!
Last question: How much you want to bet neither the World Court nor the UN demand the EU stop doing this?

When Do Dems Approve “Outsourcing”?
When I first read about President Bush's plan to pull 70,000 troops from Europe and the Far East I thought, "about fuckin' time!!!!"I am so tired of these sons of bitches complaining about the US, criticizing our foreign policies yet all the while sucking up our dollars as our troops are forced to live in those shitheel, ungratefully wretched countries.
Well, guess what? The Germans are upset!!!! OH! BOO FUCKING HOO Kraut boys!!! Take it up with your assclown Chancellor/Prime Minister/President (really who gives a flying fuck what his title is anyway?) who would not support us in the war with Iraq. Now your wallets are going to feel the pinch. GOOD! Next time you'll think twice about biting the hand that feeds you, you pricks!
Of course, the stupid Dummycraps could not wait to lob a few salvoes in the President's direction regarding this decision. After all, they want to sit around sucking German ass and subsidizing their socialist lifestyles by having us stay there.
Somehow this kind of "outsourcing" is OK.
To show you what a bunch of slacker, ambitionless pieces of shit these forons are, President Bush's plan is a 10 year one. You'd think over 10 years the Krauts and Koreans would figure out how to stimulate the local economies affected but, being the good socialists that they are, this is not possible.
A nice "FUCK YOU VERY MUCH" is appropriate right now for both the Krauts and the Dummycrap critics of President Bush. Oh, guess who the Dummycraps are making the most noise? You shouldn't be surprised: General WEASELY Clark and Richard Holbrooke. May they die awful deaths.

Your Turn to Speak Out
I just do not know where to begin with this one. On the one hand I think the idea is brilliant and right in synch with my own thoughts regarding moonbats like this (with the exception that I'd sterilize the entire family---mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grandparents.)On the other hand we're talking MAJOR civil rights violations.
But on the other hand, the skeptic in me says, "hey, let the Brits try it and if successful , we should, too!"
What is it I am speaking of?
The monitoring of children of criminals to preclude them from becoming like their parents.
The only change I'd make is that in the US we should do this to the children of foron moonbat Democrats and other bed wetting liberals, especially the Hollyweird variety with emphasis on kids belonging to Dummycrap politicians.
Who's with me on this?

Who Said This?
I doubt I'll trick any of you with this but here goes: Who said the following during Bill Clinton's run for president when he was getting attacked for dodging the draft? The race for the White House should be about leadership, and leadership requires that one help heal the wounds of Vietnam, not reopen them; that one help identify the positive things that we learned about ourselves and about our nation, not play to the divisions and differences of that crucible of our generation.
Give up?
THE POODLE!!!!!!
Anyone want to explain to me why it is he is re-opening those wounds?

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
