Are You Religious?
It could all be due to your genes.
Yep! Really!
However, based on previous comments I’d say it loks like some of our readership has BAD genes! Hehehe

Proof Of Neglect From On High?
If you ever needed proof that the Federal Government is not interested in solving the illegal immigration mess, just read this.
I was not aware that the Social Security Administration tracked the validity of SSNs to W-2.
But they do. And every year about a million numbers get set aside in a pile for “further investigation” which never takes place.
Technically, every company hiring employees submits the W-2 info to the SSA. This data then somehow makes its way to the IRS. But if the number is bad, someone should be following up with the company to find out why and get it corrected. However, no one does.
You see where this is going, right? Companies know nothing happens so they hire illegals knowing their numbers are not good and further knowing no one will do anything about it.
But how about companies that have over 30,000 bad numbers per year? You can also see what’s going on here, too, right? One company? 30,000 bad numbers?!?!?!?!?!
Meanwhile, the Feds have this “bad company” data and do nothing. And illegals keep getting hired and stay in the US.
This one will piss you off. Especially when you get to the part about sharing this data between agencies and how everyone is running scared and not trying to violate any illegals’ rights.

The Ludicrousness Of Mass Transit
In Hernando County the moron county commissioners decided to start a bus system. Our county encompasses over 440 square miles---NOT a small county!! We also have less than 170,000 people living here. Do the math on density yourselves.
When riders increased to 200 per day they crowed how well it was working. And then added more busses. So far we have 4 busses running from about 7 in the morning to 6 at night or so. Also do the math on that one: busses, maintenance, garage space, drivers, substitute drivers, gasoline, pensions, salaries, health care costs, etc. With about 250 riders a day at about $0.50 each................hmmmm, quite a deficit, huh? One day’s ridership does not pay the salary and associated costs of ONE driver; much less the other three and associated related costs.
So in effect, for a county of less than 170,000 we pay over $100,000 from county tax dollars plus almost a million per year from federal dollars (still OUR tax dollars) so that about 130 DIFFERENT/UNIQUE people (assuming most go round trip) can take a bus!!!
Fuck! It’d be cheaper to buy these bastards a car and be done with it.
AAAARRGGHH!!!
Along those lines read what a novel proposal P.J. O’Rourke has for solving mass transit ridership problems (it’s towards the end!)

How Well Do You Know Squeezy Perfumey?
The other day I posted about a great opportunity the Republicans had for increasing their numbers in the US Senate in 2006 given the retirement of Sarbanes.
I also mentioned that Squeezy Perfumey would run on the Dummycrap ticket.
Want to know more about him?

Why Won’t We Ever Learn?
Here we have 82% of American people saying they want a straight “up or down” vote on judicial nominees and we have media-hog dummycraps blustering about how they will stall all business on the senate floor if the Republicans go “nuclear” on any effort by the Donks to filibuster judicial nominees.
Well, if it takes stopping the senate from doing business, that is a good thing. These assholes already pass enough bad bills as it is. Having them stalemated is good.
But, going back to the title of this post, we never seem to learn, do we? Why do we keep re-electing these moonbats? They don’t listen to the electorate, they get in their Ivory Towers and think they can do whatever they want--especially if it is to the detriment of the nation.
One last thing: caveat emptor. I have not been able to find the poll questions for this poll nor the range of people called.

The Supreme Court Gets ‘Borked’
Do you remember a judge named Robert H. Bork. Sure you do. His last name entered our vocabulary as a synonym for a process of allowing partisan politics to keep good men off the Supreme Court. Here’s a refresher course from his bio for those who slept through the 1980’s: In 1987, President Ronald Reagan nominated him for associate justice. While universally acknowledged as an accomplished scholar, lawyer and judge, his nomination became a battleground for American culture wars over the meaning of the Constitution. Then-Chief Justice Warren Burger said of Bork, “I do not think in more than 50 years since I was in law school that there has ever been a nomination of a man or woman any better qualified than Judge Bork.” The (Democratic-controlled) Senate ultimately voted against confirmation, and Bork’s failed nomination became a synonym for the infiltration of highly partisan ideological politics in the judicial selection process.
Judge Bork is currently a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, professor at Ave Maria Law School, and visiting professor at the University of Richmond Law School. He has written an excellent editorial for The National Review (requires subscription) about the Supreme Court’s recent decision to prohibit the death penalty for those under the age of 18. In the process he raises some very interesting questions and takes Justice Kennedy to task for his “international guidelines” argument. Since not all of you subscribe to The National Review (what a shame), I am posting this excellent article here in its entirety. Here is an excerpt that makes an interesting point ....
Retribution was discounted on the theory that young killers, apparently without exception, are less culpable than presumably more thoughtful adult murderers. This from a Court that finds teenage girls sufficiently mature to decide on abortion without parental knowledge or consent?

What Went Wrong?
![]() | Back in 1971, before the start of World War IV against the Arabs, the price of a gallon of gasoline was about 30¢ per gallon. Now, prices at the pump have climbed over $3 per gallon, an increase of ten times. Also, back in 1971, I was fresh out of college and earning about $16K per year. Nowadays, I am earning ........ HEY WAIT A MINUTE! My salary hasn’t increased ten times over. What is going on here? I demand an answer from Congress and Exxon today. Inflation, my ass! Somebody is ripping me off here! And while we’re on the subject, why is it that back in 1971, I didn’t need insurance to buy a $35 bottle of anitbiotic pills but today, even with insurance coverage, I have to pay a $20 co-pay (and a $230 monthly insurance premium) and without insurance I have to pay $200 for that same bottle of antibiotic pills? In addition, back in 1971 a “Mexican” was some foreigners who got their asses kicked at the Alamo. Nowadays, a “Mexican” is that family down the street who pays no taxes, drives an uninsured car, collects welfare, gets free medical care and has a meth lab in the back yard? Would somebody please tell me where all this went wrong? |

Irish Legend
The Roman Empire had Julius Caesar, the Spanish had El Cid, the French had Charlemagne and the English had King Arthur. All legends in their own time and they still live down through the ages.
What legendary heros did Ireland have?
Well, Ireland had the best of them all (long before the other imitators named above came along), a mighty warrior named .... Finn MacCool. Finn’s legend dates back to the Third Century BC and there is quite a bit of evidence that the legend is based on the life of a real, early Celtic warrior. And as far as legends go, it doesn’t get any better than this ....
One day, Finn grows angry when he hears that a Scottish giant is mocking his fighting ability. He throws a rock across the Irish Sea to Scotland; the rock includes a challenge to the giant. The Scottish giant quickly throws a message in a rock back to Finn, stating he can’t take up the challenge because he can’t swim to reach Ireland. Finn doesn’t let the Scottish giant off so easily. He tears down great pieces of volcanic rock that lay near the coast and stands the pieces upright, making them into pillars that form a causeway that stretches from Ireland to Scotland. The giant now has to accept the challenge. He comes to Finn’s house. Finn, masquerading as a 18-foot baby, bites the Scottish giant’s hand and then chases him back to Scotland, flinging huge lumps of earth after him. One of the large holes he creates fills with water and becomes Lough Neagh, the largest lake in Ireland. One large lump of earth misses the giant and falls into the Irish Sea; this lump is now known as the Isle of Man.
Now that’s quite a bit of blarney, isn’t it. Fortunately, Morgan Llywelyn, one of the best modern Irish fiction writers has written an excellent account of Finn’s life for those who like hard-charging and hard-loving warriors and their legendary exploits. Get “Finn MacCool” at Amazon.

Media Distortions and ANWR
If you’ve followed this ANWR drilling drama long enough you also realize that the enviro-wacko, granola munching, Birkenstock wearing, patchouli smelling, tree hugging, Gaia loving, long haired, dope smoking crowd will show you pictures like this of ANWR:

Those of us passingly familiar with the area know better especially as it relates to what it looks like where the drilling will take place.
It looks more like this:

So when I saw this headline: ”Alaskans Wary of Vote on Oil Drilling” I was naturally curious.
Wanna bet which picture was shown for the story?
Go on, guess!!!!
And, OBTW, this is what the village that’s SO CONCERNED looks like:

Oh, and one more OBTW: recall the title of the news article. Read it. Is it just me or did you also NOT find much reference to this “concern?” And why was it titled, “Alaskans” implying the whole state when they were referring to the 284 (yep, grand total: 284) residents?

Democrats Are Fit To Be Tied
Can you imagine how much it must suck to be a democrat/liberal/socialist America hater right now?
Here we go. As the great poet What’s-his-name said, “Let me count the ways.”
--They lost Congress beginning in 1994
--They were forced kicking and screaming into welfare reform
--They lost the Presidency in 2000
--They lost even more seats in Congress between 1996 and 2004
--After reveling in the economic devastation wrought by corporate abuses, the tech bubble, and 9-11 with the hopes of finally being able to win more seats because the economy was so awful, they lost again when the President got his tax cut packages approved
--Drooling at the prospect of a complete meltdown in the economy because of the war in Iraq and siding with the rest of the world in condemning our actions there, again they were kicked to the curb when Afghanistan had its FIRST free election EVER followed shortly by Iraq’s elections
--They saw Libya all of a sudden start paying attention to what was going on and hated the prospect of the Bush doctrine actually working
--They are furious that North Korea is now beginning to understand what may happen to them
--They saw the beginnings of women’s rights to vote in Saudi Arabia
--They lost the opportunity for their hero, Bill Clinton, to get his legacy when Arafat died and now Israel and the PLO may actually make peace (under Bush’s watch)
--They saw the Lebanese demand the Syrians get the hell out of their country
--They are witnessing a movement to forever change social security
--They fled in droves to psychiatrists and counselors when their candidate, John F**ling Kerry (you know, that asshole from Massachusetts who in Vietnam?) lost to Bush in 2004. Some fled the country. Others killed themselves. (not enough of them in my estimation)
--They are “foaming at the mouth” mad that Bush’s domestic policies and tax cuts have made his presidency the one in which the highest percentage of Americans now own homes, that home values are increasing, that construction is high, and that the economy is growing while adding jobs (just as he said those tax cuts would do)
--They are pissed off that ANWR just passed in the senate
--They can’t stand the fact that Condi Rice is SecState AND well-liked
--We appointed John Bolton to be our Ambassador to the UN
--and lastly, to rub salt into the wounds of the nanny staters, President Bush appointed Paul Wolfowitz to head the World Bank!
(did I miss any?)
BWAH HA HA HA!
It must SUCK to be a liberal, bed-wetting, commie loving, America hating pinko Democrat right now.
BWAH HA HA HA!
Speaking of Wolfowitz, check out these two pieces discussing how the Euro-peons and other riff-raff are annoyed. (here) and (here)
Cries of:
“They were supposed to consult us and there was no consultation.”
WAHH! WAHH!!
“This appointment will only serve to confirm suspicions that the World Bank is a tool of US foreign policy.”
Of course, you dumb bastard. You ARE a tool of our policy. Remember, we’re the 600 pound gorilla. Now, get on your knees and blow me, Euro-boy!
Or this:
“Privately, European officials in Washington and bank staff have expressed concern that the US would put forward such a controversial candidate for the post. One concern is that his appointment would make it more difficult for the World Bank to operate effectively in the Middle East.”
Mr Bush has put forward two men who have been the most passionate advocates for the view that if the US leads, the rest of the world will follow and fall into line.
Heheheheh, you’re damned straight! Now get in line!
“Along with the nomination of Bolton, the US is putting the biggest sceptics of multilateralism in charge.”
DUH!!! Anyone who’s ever tried to do anything by committee knows nothing gets done. If it does it is too little, too late. Only a forceful, powerful leader can get others to follow.
Like I said, it SUCKS to be a democrat.

A Poeme For Scott
With sincere apologies to John Masefield and his poem “Sea Fever” ....
I must go down to the bay again, to the place where I must die,
And all they ask is a tall tree and a rope to hang me by,
And of Laci’s kiss and Conor’s laugh I’ll never be partaking,
With a grim smile on my dead face, no more hearts will be a-breaking.
Scott Peterson is escorted by two San Mateo County Sheriff
deputies as he is walked from the jail to a waiting van
Thursday, March 17, 2005, in Redwood City, Calif.
Peterson was taken to death row at San Quentin State Prison
early Thursday after being sentenced to die for murdering
his pregnant wife, Laci.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
