The one, the only

THE ONE, THE ONLY, UNIVERSAL POST

Where Is Drew These Days??

1) Burnt out on the news again. After the weak kneed IG report released the other day, I just threw my hands up. Not even tempest in a teapot. Expect nothing to happen, ever. This was pretty much my last straw. I’m exhausted by the whole endless do-nothing thing. I would have thrown these crooks and traitors into jail 14 months ago.It will never, ever happen.

2) Between the party ( done ), the wedding ( this coming weekend ), and my jobs, I just haven’t made much time for it. Make hay while the sun doesn’t shine - I’ve got a lot of outdoor work to do, and I’d rather do it before it gets really really hot.

3) I’ve installed a video game on my Android phone and have been playing it. It’s not that challenging or graphic, but I’ve haven’t had a computer game to play in ages, except for FreeCell. It’a not that I feel I’m owed, it’s just that I’ve run out of books to read at the shack and that free radio I got a few months back died after just a couple weeks. And it’s so boring up there, even worse now that school is out.

Manafort: Life In Prison If He Doesn’t Flip On Trump

Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said on Friday that Paul Manafort may never again “see the outside of a jail cell” after his house arrest arrangement was revoked on Friday.

President Trump’s former campaign chairman appeared in court after special counsel Robert Mueller asked a judge to revoke his pretrial release conditions, accusing him of attempting to tamper with potential witnesses.

During the hearing, the judge revoked Manafort’s bail and ordered him to jail.

“Just to put this in historical perspective, what broke the Watergate case was when James McCord got a 25-year sentence,” Akerman said when asked about the hearing while appearing on MSNBC’s “Velshi & Ruhle.” “He was one of the Watergate burglars. He got a 25-year sentence. He was sitting in jail because that’s what made him crack and cooperate.”

But Akerman noted that Manafort, who is 69 years old, could soon be facing life in jail.

“And here it could be even worse,” Akerman said. “It could be the beginning of a life sentence. Paul Manafort, if he does not cooperate, may never ever see the outside of a jail cell.”

Mueller filed a superseding indictment against Manafort earlier, accusing him of obstruction of justice and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Manafort is scheduled to go to trial in September over charges including tax evasion, bank fraud, money laundering and failing to register as a foreign agent with the Justice Department.

Manafort has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

This is the guy whose house was raided in the middle of the night to seize documents, even when he was happily cooperating with the government investigators. Pretty damn heavy handed bullshit IMO. Buncha Stasi. And this is what passes for justice? If Manafort is found innocent, or even guilty to a very minor degree, then the thugs involved in this ought to be penalized. Seriously, this jack-booted 3AM stuff has to stop, and the only way to make that happen is to punish the daylights out of the perpetrators. Because, WTH, passing a law against it (something like the Fifth Amendment?) isn’t going to do any good. Some folks are above the law. Which is in itself unconstitutional, but who’s counting?

No blogging from me for a couple of days now. I got a lot of varnishing done the past 2 days, made a bunch of extra money, and accidentally terrorized my first snowflake. The boy, a whole year out of high school, whom I had seen and sometimes talked to a bit at the bus stop for 2 years, panicked when he saw me outside his unit wielding a fully automatic high capacity assault paint brush. Holy cats. Leaped back behind the storm door, slammed it closed and threw the deadbolt and then the deadbolt. I called out that I work there and that all the hand rails were getting a coat of varnish. “mm, Ok” he says from behind the sidelight window. Probably had to go have a juice box in his safe room and then get some counseling. Good grief.

So tomorrow is the Big Event, the party. She’s been going nuts about it for weeks now, probably putting in more planning and effort than it took to invade Normandy on D-day. Double good grief. Guess I’d better try on all the new clothes I had to buy, and get them through the wash in the morning.
It’s pretty much a given that this will eat up my entire day, from early morning laundry and ironing to driving an hour to get out there, an hour back, and then who knows how many hours of being at the restaurant. Too much. Nobody ever put 1/50th that much effort into any party ever thrown for me. Come to think of it, the last party thrown for me was my 9th birthday I think. Which had to be canceled because I got sick?

Very strange night at summer bowling league. I did well in the first game, when it was warm and very humid outside. Then the temperature started dropping as some cool dry air moved in. The lanes turned to glue. We won the first game handily, and took the second one by a bit, so that we were up 63 pins total at that point. Then the other team started bowling great, while we went right down the tubes. They took the third game, and took wood by 10. So we split the night 4-3. We are in first place, after 2 whole weeks, big deal, and were playing the 2nd place team who was down by 4. Now they’re down by 5. Hope we have some sun tomorrow so I can solar bake my ball to get some of the oil out. Dammit, I couldn’t make the ball do a thing tonight, though I was not alone in that. Lane conditions just went to heck, and everybody was leaving awful splits and throwing gutter balls. And here I thought that HVAC was supposed to maintain stable temperature and humidity levels. Not.

Looks like I have to race the raindrops this morning with the railing varnishing project. So no time to blog right now, got to get out there ASAP.

90 minutes later ... And the rain wins! Still, I managed to get the Wet Varnish signs off of 6 of them, put a final coat on 2 more, and sanded down a third one and got the first coat on it. An hour is an hour, and that pays for lunch.

… and never is heard, a discouraging an encouraging word ...

and the MSM sucks all day

President Trump’s historic summit with Kim Jong Un could be the first step to the Hermit Kingdom dismantling its country’s nuclear program – but Bitter Bettys throughout the mainstream media found ways to slam the event.

CNN global affairs analyst Max Boot chalked up the meeting as something that “any previous president could have done,” while MSNBC regular Jon Meacham claimed “just because something hasn’t happened before, doesn’t mean it’s historic.”

Trump left Singapore after the two leaders signed a document stating Pyongyang would work toward “complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.” But CNN and MSNBC decided to harp on things like the food that was served and flag placement.

CNN took a break from its usual habit of criticizing the president for consuming too much soda and fast food to allege that the summit’s menu was too upscale. Samantha Vinograd, the network’s national security analyst, proclaimed that the United States legitimized Kim by releasing the details of the food served during a working lunch. Vinograd said the menu puts Kim on “equal footing with other world leaders, which is what he wants,” before downplaying the working lunch as “perfunctory.”

“If [White House Press Secretary] Sarah Sanders is in the room… they are not diving into the kind of classified details that are going to lead to the substance,” Vinograd said.

“CNN Tonight” host Don Lemon made sure to add that the meal served to Kim and Trump sounded “very expensive.”

Political analyst Jonathan Wachtel, who was in-studio to cover the summit for CNN, then essentially stated that Trump and Kim should not have been served a decent meal.

I guess these folks all had sour grapes for lunch.  Know what would be ripe? For President Trump to quote back movie lines from the Left’s latest hero, garbage mouth Robert De Niro, from the Untouchables: “Is that all you got? You got nuttin’!”

The world turned upside down. And inside out.

Iran To Kim: Don’t Trust Trump

Iran warned North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday against trusting U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he could cancel their denuclearization agreement within hours.

Tehran cited its own experience in offering the advice to Kim a month after Washington withdrew from a similar deal with Iran.

Trump and Kim pledged at a meeting in Singapore on Tuesday to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula while Washington committed to provide security guarantees for its old enemy.

“We don’t know what type of person the North Korean leader is negotiating with. It is not clear that he would not cancel the agreement before returning home,” Iranian government spokesman Mohammad Bagher Nobakht was quoted as saying by IRNA new agency.

The hypocrisy is so thick you couldn’t cut it with a chainsaw.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he believes North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will move immediately on steps toward denuclearization and that the process is moving rapidly, according to an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

“I just think that we are now going to start the process of denuclearization of North Korea. I believe that he’s going back and will start it virtually immediately,” Trump said in excerpts of the interview broadcast on Fox after the U.S.-North Korea summit in Singapore. “And he’s already indicated that.”

“It’s a process and it’s really moving rapidly,” he added.

An emotional [ retired NBA great Dennis ] Rodman blasted Obama for ignoring his attempts to broker a dialogue between him and Kim Jong Un, who had asked Rodman to relay a message to the former president five years ago. “Obama didn’t even give me the time of day,” Rodman recalled. “He just brushed me off.”

In contrast, Rodman said President Trump called him recently through a secretary to tell him he’s very proud of him for his efforts. (Note to liberal media: The president you repeatedly called “racist” is being praised by a black man for brokering peace between two Asian countries that have been at war for 70 years.)

Rodman has visited North Korea several times at the request of Kim Jong Un, a huge basketball fan who reveres the former Chicago Bull. Those visits spawned an unlikely friendship between the diminutive dictator and the 6-foot-7 retired power forward.

Rodman called the historic North Korea-U.S. summit in Singapore this week a hopeful start to fostering world peace through North Korea’s denuclearization.

“We don’t need a miracle, but we need the doors to be open so we can start fresh,” Rodman said. “Donald Trump should take a lot of credit for this. He went out of the box and made this happen.”

Already, the mainstream media is trying to marginalize President Trump’s achievements with the North Korea summit. But make no mistake: We have just witnessed history in the making.

This smells like a con. “Human rights” groups putting the muscle on Italy and Malta, to take in more hordes of illiterate unskilled North African islamics.

UN: Malta Must Take “Stranded” Immigrants

Italy: GFY, Send Them To Spain or France

Fwance: Italy is unfaaaair, we’re triggered!!!

Spain Al Andalus: We Surrendered To The Moors 16 Years Ago. Send Them To Us.

The UN refugee agency on Monday called on Italy and Malta to immediately allow a boat carrying hundreds of migrants to dock, describing the situation as “an urgent humanitarian imperative.”

Some 629 people, including pregnant women and scores of children, were saved by SOS Mediterranean Saturday and are stuck aboard the French NGO’s ship Aquarius, which is currently between Malta and Sicily waiting for a secure port.
...
Malta on Sunday reiterated its refusal to accept the ship, ignoring calls from Rome.

Italy prepared to send hundreds of migrants to Spain in a small naval convoy on Tuesday after shutting its own ports to them, as France accused the new Italian government of cynicism and irresponsibility.

The French rebuke highlights the tensions within the European Union over how to tackle a years-old migration crisis, with Italy’s anti-establishment coalition promising to tear up much-discredited asylum rules.

Some 629 migrants, including 11 children and seven pregnant women, have been afloat in the central Mediterranean aboard the Aquarius rescue ship since Sunday, when both Italy and Malta refused to let them dock.

Spain unexpectedly offered on Monday to take in the group of mainly sub-Saharan Africans, who were picked up off the Libyan coast over the weekend. But the Aquarius is heavily overcrowded, making the four-day trip to Spain particularly perilous.
...
French President Emmanuel Macron denounced the block on the Aquarius, saying under international law Italy should have taken the migrants in.

“There is a degree of cynicism and irresponsibility in the Italian government’s behavior with regards to his dramatic humanitarian situation,” government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux quoted Macron as telling his cabinet.
...

Italy has taken in more than 640,000 mainly African migrants over the past five years. Other EU states have largely ignored pleas by Rome to persuade them to take some of the newcomers and share the cost of their care, heightening anti-European and anti-migrant sentiment in the Italy.

Matteo Salvini, Italy’s new interior minister and head of the far-right League, has said his move this week is aimed at forcing other European states to help pick up the strain.

This is an invasion. Period. Not necessarily a military one, or a religious one, but an invasion nonetheless. The schwoogs are taking over Europe. NO. Golly, your country in Africa sucks rocks? Fix it yourselves, on your own dime. Want to watch the dark tide stop overnight? Every country in the EU should cancel afro-jizzlam immigrant benefits immediately. You don’t even get water, much less fancy housing and free cars.

Naughty Naughty Germans. Again!!

Mercedes Benz: The Next “Dieselgate”

Daimler’s diesel nightmare continues. After the manufacturer was ordered by Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) to recall the Mercedes Vito examples powered by a 1.6-liter diesel engine, it is now reported KBA has discovered no less than five defeat devices in Daimler engines.

The information comes from Bild am Sonntag newspaper and was brought to our attention by Automotive News. The report claims that, during KBA’s investigation, five “illegal switch-off devices” have been discovered in the bulk of the automaker’s Euro 6 diesel motors, encompassing at least one million vehicles in total. A spokesman for Daimler was not willing to discuss the report.
...
KBA believes Daimler’s Euro 6 diesels are emitting polluting gases in excess of what the regulations say and the exhaust systems of those cars are featuring manipulating control software. The firm’s compression ignition engines use urea nitrate liquids to naturalize nitrogen oxide emissions in exhaust fumes.

Mercedes-Benz is currently recalling the 1.6-liter diesel Vito models in Germany to tweak their software and update the vans’ emission control systems. However, the company is appealing against KBA’s decision as it doesn’t want the authority to classify the software as illegal. Another recall for diesel-powered C-Class and G-Class models now seems inevitable, and it could affect more than 600,000 cars.

Dailmer is also facing a hefty fine from the German Transport Ministry. If found guilty for using illegal software, the manufacturer will have pay about $5,835 fine per car. With more than 750,000 affected vehicles so far, doing the math means the brand with the three-pointed star logo will be fined at least $4.4 billion.

I’d really like to see the emissions specs these vehicles are held to, and what the standards were 5, 10, 20 years ago. Are they completely unrealistic? Are they some kind of Obama / Greenie / peace, love, and granola statist hippie fantasy? Come on, MB is already using an emissions system with boiled horse piss urea injection, and the refineries have been making the fuel with much lower sulphur content.  Not to mention all the precision computer controls and turbos and stuff. It can’t be made much better than this. But somehow it isn’t good enough?

OTOH, I’m thinking that this whole thing might be a major shakedown against successful capitalist industries. VW/Audi was making perfectly fine diesel cars that people loved, and look how many billions they got fined for. Still, it was wrong for them to cheat. But if the standards were impossible to meet at any kind of reasonable price, and they couldn’t renegotiate them, then what choice did they have? Standards put in place by an anti-diesel government are designed not to ensure cleaner air, but to shut the industry down. Kind of like Clinton’s AWB; this is not a new tune for the Leftists to sing.

Pregnant men, raincoat with 6 sleeves, and worse: Fashion has lost it’s mind

An imagined male pregnancy, flower necklaces and melting ice caps were some of the more striking images at London Men’s Fashion Week, which wrapped up on Monday.

Chinese designer Xander Zhou’s collection featured a male model with a fake bump on show, wearing jeans and a white t-shirt reading “New World Baby”.

“We’re prepared to welcome a future of male pregnancy,” the designer said in an Instagram post.

Zhou’s show also featured one of the more improbable-looking designs of all the collections—an elaborate raincoat with six sleeves arranged in a star formation.
...
Edward Crutchley’s collection was inspired by “contemporary mythology” featuring prints by French artist Lucien Murat of a post-apocalyptic world of deformed creatures.

The collection also had a strong Japanese theme, including a partnership with a kimono printing company from Kyoto.

Christopher Raeburn, a specialist in environmentally conscious fashion, used NASA images showing melting ice caps to create a modern and socially engaged collection entitled “REACT NOW”.
...
The highly-anticipated show by “Man”—a kind of fashion incubator which has helped many of the current generation of British designers—presented a gender-fluid collection.

Male models wearing evening dresses, mini-skirts or opting to go bare-chested featured heavily.

A heavily-applauded design saw transsexual model Munroe Bergdorf strut the catwalk dressed only in a pair of black boots and a long, torn t-shirt with the words “High concept character”.

Freak show.

What was it P.T. Barnum said? “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Good Grief. Tell Me That Suicide Isn’t “Trending”?

Last couple of weeks, designer Kate Spade, chef/adventurer/reporter Anthony Bourdain. Yesterday, actor/musician Jackson Odell, only 20. Today, Bollywood actress Jiah Khan.

Different people, vastly different circumstances. But there sure seems to be a lot of this going on lately.

You betcha, don’t lose sight that NorK’s Kim Jong Un is one sick sadistic tyrant.

It would be just an awful terrible un-good shame is some Iranian backed terrorists blew him up on the flight home after the conference, as revenge for negotiating with the Great Satan. And we had no idea that they had space lasers!!

Interesting thought: If little Whoa, Fat and his snake-souled sister get the big bug zapper, there is exactly nobody in North Korea ready to take over. There are no Number Twos. Kimmie killed them all.
