happy talk from lib but it’s still all bs!

In a few days time there will be a major election here to decide the govt. for the next five years.

For months now, the various scoundrels running for office have been making ever more promises on all manner of things. It just seems like as soon as one comes up with a promise to hold up the sky so it doesn’t fall, someone else tops even that with some other grand scheme and frankly they’re all piss ants.  Except for a couple perhaps.  Even the green party has a candidate with a following and in what passed for a recent debate on TV among the ppl running, there must have been 4 or 5 different parties represented on that stage.  And one party, the SNP of Scotland, is not open to votes by English citizens. There was also a lady from a tiny party in Wales.

Election 2015: Despite the flaws, our political system has much to be proud of - especially when compared to many other nations

For all the grumbling, our country is a pretty well-governed place

By Ian Birrell

all the rest

That’s the headline, can’t say it wasn’t interesting but.

What caught most of my attention was the following few lines.

Step back from the froth and fury of the electoral fight.

Then consider why people risk their lives to come here, why our values are globally admired and why our flag has usurped the Stars and Stripes as the coolest such icon. I remember last year that beside the Crimean parliament seized by Russian special forces was a shop with mannequins in the window wearing Union Jack underwear.

I’m not too certain what flag underwear prove, but Mr. Birrell seems to have missed a bit with regard to people risking lives to come here. If Brit values are admired, I doubt that thousands of illegals trying to gain entry not just to the UK, but specific parts of Europe, do so because they have any idea what those values might be. Half of them may not even be able to read, at least not the languages of the several nations they invade every week.  Over 5,000 of them were most unfortunately saved from drowning just over the weekend.  I very much doubt western values play any part in their most unwelcome intrusion on civilization.

If my flag isn’t an icon for those folks, that’s a good thing.  I’d be quite happy if none of them ever heard of the USA.  And there are a large number of Brits who wish they’d never heard of the UK as well.  But in this politically correct world, those opinions don’t count.  The truth doesn’t matter, which is that uncontrolled immigration has caused great stress on all services and they are a curse.

The left keeps telling us how much immigration had aided and advanced the cultures they overrun.  Uh huh.  What the left will never admit to is that the kind of immigrants arriving uninvited and mostly illegally these days, are not the same sort who did migrate once and came here with skills and education.  To be certain, that isn’t true of all of the past immigrants. But it’s true of a larger number than we see these days.  As well, in former times when it was found that foreign criminals had managed to sneak through, they were deported quickly without having to answer to a court in another country, and remain in the host country at public expense for years and years and years.

OK so with apologies to Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein and Josh Logan who wrote the book with Oscar Hammerstein for SOUTH PACIFIC,

I dedicate the following to the libtards and especially Mr Birrell.

“Happy Talk keep talking happy talk”

ISIS Don’t Speak Texan

It Wasn’t A “Draw Mohammed” Contest

It Was A “Draw, Mohammed” Contest

And ISIS Lost

ISIS Claims Credit For Attack At Texas Art Show

Both gunmen instantly shot dead

A former terror suspect has been named as one of the gunmen shot dead by police after two attackers blasted an unarmed security guard in the ankle during an anti-Islam art contest in Texas on Sunday night.

Two heavily-armed men, who are believed to have been carrying explosives, were killed by police after opening fire outside the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Dallas, at around 7pm during a controversial event where caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were being displayed. Followers of Islam deem that any physical depiction of the prophet - even a positive one - is blasphemous.

A senior FBI official has identified one of the men as Elton Simpson, who was previously the subject of a terror investigation, according to ABC News.

He had been convicted of lying to federal agents about his plans to travel to Africa five years ago, but a judge ultimately ruled it could not be proved that the was heading there to join a terror group.

After his identity emerged, FBI agents and a bomb squad swarmed Simpson’s apartment in north Phoenix, Arizona and used a robot to carry out the first sweep of his home, the channel reported. The second gunman’s identity is not yet known.

Followers of ISIS had been calling for an attack online for more than a week after learning that the competition in Garland would feature a ‘draw Muhammad’ art contest, with a prize of $10,000 for the best caricature.

After the attack, the SITE Intelligence Group reported that an Islamic State fighter claimed on Twitter that the shooting was carried out by two pro-Isis individuals.

In a series of tweets and links, a jihadist named as Abu Hussain AlBritani, which SITE said was British IS fighter Junaid Hussain, claimed that ‘2 of our brothers just opened fire’ at the Prophet Muhammad exhibition in Texas.
...
The contest was just minutes from finishing when multiple gunshots were heard.

The two suspects had pulled up in a vehicle with with explosives, before getting out and firing at a security officer, 57-year-old Bruce Joiner, who was employed by the independent school district and wearing a ‘police-style uniform’. He was later taken to hospital in a stable condition and was released on Sunday evening.

Garland Mayor Douglas Athas toldCNN that the first suspect was shot immediately while the second was wounded when he reached for his back pack, and then shot again.

Geert Wilders and Pamela Geller award the prize to the winning artist

The event featured speeches by Pamela Geller, president of the AFDI, and Geert Wilders, a Dutch lawmaker known for his outspoken criticism of Islam. Wilders received several standing ovations as he quoted former President Ronald Reagan and Texas founding father Sam Houston.

“Muhammad fought and terrorized people with the swords. Today, here in Garland, we fight Muhammad and his followers with the pen. And the pen, the drawings, will prove mightier than the sword,” Wilders said during his speech.

Geller said during the event that her group had spent thousands of dollars on private security guards, several of whom could be seen standing on stage. Wilders left immediately after his speech, and Geller was not seen by an Associated Press reporter inside the hall after the shooting.

After the shooting, about 75 attendees were escorted by authorities to another room in the conference center. A woman held up an American flag, and the crowd sang “God Bless America.”

And what was the winning entry? UK’s Daily Mail is too chickenshit to publish the picture. We’ve got a long way to go, and this war is only just beginning.

It’s a princess!

That was the happy news on Saturday morning, after the Duchess of Cambridge—the British royal also known as Catherine—gave birth to her second child.

The little girl came into the world at 8:34 a.m. (3:34 a.m. ET) Saturday at London’s St. Mary’s Hospital, Kensington Palace announced. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces.

“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” the palace tweeted.

That’s really great. Good for them.

Now the English can get busy and start betting on the name to be chosen.

Those Racist Baltimore Cops

Just so you know ...

picture and text from Weasel Zippers. Added text by me.

from CNN:

One officer—the driver of the police van—has been charged with several counts, including second-degree depraved-heart murder.
...

Sgt. Alicia D. White
1) Manslaughter (involuntary) (10 yrs.)
2) Assault/second degree (10 yrs.)
3) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment*)

Lt. Brian W. Rice
1) Manslaughter (involuntary) (10 yrs.)
2) Assault/second degree (10 yrs.)
3) Assault/second degree (10 yrs.)
4) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment*)
5) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment*)
6) False imprisonment (8th Amendment*)

Officer William G. Porter
1) Manslaughter (involuntary) (10 yrs.)

Officer Garrett E. Miller

2) Assault/second degree (10 yrs,)
3) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment*)
4) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment* )
5) False imprisonment (8th Amendment* )

van driver, Officer Caesar R. Goodson Jr.
1) Second degree depraved heart murder (30 yrs.)
2) Manslaughter (involuntary) (10 yrs.)
3) Assault/second degree (10 yrs.)
4) Manslaughter by vehicle (gross negligence) (10 yrs.)
5) Manslaughter by vehicle (criminal negligence) (3 yrs.)
6) Misconduct in office (8th Amendment* )

In lieu of additional information I don’t have, I’ll give you my opinion.

I doubt that there were 6 cops in the van. I wonder if in truth there were only 3 officers in that van. And I wonder if knowing that half the police involved were black would have diffused the situation to any extent.

More info found ... Oh ho !!! ... a timeline from the NYT

8:39:12 a.m.  Initial Contact

Lt. Brian W. Rice and Officers Edward M. Nero and Garrett E. Miller were on bike patrol near the corner of North Avenue and Mount Street. Lieutenant Rice made eye contact with Mr. Gray, who ran away.

... and so forth - follow the link and think it out yourself - but it looks to me as if Goodson was the only cop in the van for most of it’s nearly circular journey. Porter wasn’t part of this until “Stop 3”, at which point it appears he either got in the van or followed it in his patrol car. I have no idea when Sgt. White became part of this, as she doesn’t enter the tale until “Stop 4”. She could have been one of the arresting officers at that scene, or she could have been in the van the entire time.

“Stop 1” was only a few yards from the initial pick up point, so the bicycle cops either chased down the van or called out to it as it was moving away. Did they see Grey moving around inside from outside? Regardless, they do not seem to be in the van from that point on, as Officers Nero and Miller are noted as “meeting” the van at Stop 4. Officer Porter was there too, and so was Sgt. White. Lt. Rice isn’t part of anything past the initial arrest, van loading, and the Stop 1 a few yards away.

All of which means this all boils down to ... not much in the way of stick for the charges against White, Rice, Nero, or Miller. Maybe a bit more against Porter. It’s all going to land on Goodson.

The Newest STD Is The Worst One Possible

Cured Ebola Patients Can Pass Disease Through Sex

Horry Clap!  ("literally"!!)

The deadly Ebola virus may be transmitted through sex long after a person has been cured, a major finding that could change how the virus is combated.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention investigators looked into the case of a Monrovia, Liberia, woman who contracted the disease. The agency identified only one link to Ebola: unprotected sex with an Ebola survivor who was not presenting symptoms.

Ebola can only be passed through contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person showing symptoms. But health officials have been aware of another problem: The virus can remain in semen for nearly half a year after symptoms emerge, even after the patient has fully recovered. A survivor could still potentially infect a sexual partner with the virus, which appears to have happened in Monrovia in March, when the woman in question had sexual relations with a man who had been discharged the previous October.

No word on whether this works the other way around: do female fluids of certain types remain infectious as well?

Baltimore Police Charged

Freddie Gray death ruled a homicide, charges filed against 6 officers

image

Prosecutors charged six Baltimore police officers Friday with crimes ranging from murder to assault in the death of Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man whose death last month of injuries apparently suffered in police custody touched off peaceful protests that degenerated into a night of rioting, looting and chaos Monday.

State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, speaking at a Friday news conference, blasted the six police involved in Gray’s arrest on April 12, during which he suffered a broken neck that proved fatal a week later. Mosby said the police had no basis for arresting Gray, who police said avoided eye contact and was carrying a switchblade. One police officer, identified as Caesar Goodson, 45, was charged with second-degree murder, while others were charged with crimes including manslaughter and assault.

“No one is above the law,” declared Mosby, who said she comes from three generations of law enforcement and has been on the job for four months. Her husband is Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby, who has spoken out about the riots and anger in the city’s African-American community.

Goodson was charged with second-degree depraved-heart murder, involuntary manslaughter, second-degree negligent assault, as well as other charges including failure to render aid and misconduct in office.

- Police Officer William Porter was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault and misconduct in office.

- Police Lt. Brian Rice was charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree assault.

- Police Officer Alicia White was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second degree assault and misconduct in office.

- Police officers Edward Nero and Garrett Miller were charged with multiple counts of assault, false imprisonment and misconduct in office.

The Baltimore police officers union issued a statement before Mosby’s announcement, saying the six officers are not responsible for Gray’s death.

“As tragic as this situation is, none of the officers involved are responsible for the death of Mr. Gray,” Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3 President Gene Ryan said

“Depraved heart murder”?? WTF? And in the 2nd degree. How is that even possible? AND involuntary manslaughter, AND second-degree negligent assault, in case the first charges don’t stick. WTF. Pick one. I don’t think it’s legal to charge anyone with all the Baskin-Robbins flavors, unless they can show how each one is a separate situation.

CNN has a specific breakdown of which officer was charged with what offense, which shows one officer facing 4 different charges of causing someone’s death. Sounds like a big load of kangaroo krap to me, but maybe this is how state attorneys do things. Especially state attorneys married to outspoken members of the city council. My, what a coincidence.

I really, really want to see pictures of the officers involved.
