BBC not renewing ‘Top Gear’ presenter Jeremy Clarkson’s contract

Jeremy Clarkson won’t have his contract renewed as host of “Top Gear” after he apparently busted his producer’s lip and verbally abused him, the BBC announced Wednesday.

Clarkson, who hosted one of the most-watched television shows in the world, was suspended on March 10 after what the British broadcaster previously described as a “fracas” with producer Oisin Tymon on March 4.

Wednesday, the BBC released the findings of an internal investigation into the incident.

Ken MacQuarrie, who conducted the investigation, said Tymon had been “subject to an unprovoked physical and verbal attack by Jeremy Clarkson” at a hotel in North Yorkshire after a day of filming. “During the physical attack Oisin Tymon was struck, resulting in swelling and bleeding to his lip,” he said.

The physical attack was halted after about 30 seconds by the intervention of a witness, MacQuarrie said, but Clarkson continued to use “derogatory and abusive language” for a sustained period of time. MacQuarrie said Clarkson made a number of attempts to apologize over subsequent days and had reported the incident to BBC management.

Co-host Richard Hammond tweeted: “Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We’re all three of us idiots in our different ways but it’s been an incredible ride together.”

Fans had earlier expressed outrage at the BBC decision to suspend Clarkson.

Even media baron Rupert Murdoch commented on speculation that Clarkson would be sacked, posting a tweet Tuesday night in which he described the presenter as a “funny man with great expertise.”

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. soldier who was recovered in Afghanistan last spring after five years in captivity, has been charged with desertion and misbehaving before the enemy, Army officials said Wednesday, setting the stage for emotionally charged court proceeding in coming months.

Eugene Fidell, Bergdahl’s attorney, told The Washington Post that his client was handed a charge sheet on Wednesday. Army officials said in a statement that Bergdahl has been charged with desertion with intent to shirk important or hazardous duty and misbehavior before the enemy by endangering the safety of a command, unit or place. His case has been referred to an Article 32 preliminary hearing, which is frequently compared to a grand jury proceeding in civilian court.

The court hearing for Bergdahl will be held at Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston in Texas, where Bergdahl has served since shortly after his recovery on May 31, 2014.

Under the misbehavior before the enemy charge, Bergdahl faces a maximum punishment of confinement for life, a dishonorable discharge, a reduction to private and total forfeiture of pay and allowances since the time of his disappearance, Army officials said. The desertion charge carries a maximum punishment of five years in prison, a dishonorable discharge, a reduction to private and a total forfeiture of pay and allowances.

The development comes 10 months after his May 2014 release—which initially was a joyous occasion, with his parents joining President Obama in celebrating the news in the Rose Garden. Bob Bergdahl, who had studied Islam during his son’s captivity, appeared with a full beard and read a Muslim prayer, while Bergdahl’s mother Jani embraced the president.

But that euphoria quickly gave way to controversy in Washington as Bergdahl was accused of walking away from his post and putting his fellow soldiers in danger. The trade of hardened Taliban fighters for his freedom raised deep concerns on Capitol Hill that the administration struck an unbalanced and possibly illegal deal.

The trade was branded as illegal by lawmakers, who said they weren’t advised beforehand, It was also blasted by critics who said it violated America’s longstanding tradition of not negotiating with terrorists, and from Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers, many of whom view him as a traitor.

There were also concerns – which would prove well-founded – that the Taliban members would return to the fight against the West. Of the five, Mohammad Fazl, the former Taliban army chief of staff; Khairullah Khairkhwa, a Taliban intelligence official; Abdul Haq Wasiq, a former Taliban government official; and Norullah Noori and Mohammad Nabi Omari, at least three have attempted to rejoin their old comrades, sources told Fox News.

By the way, as of this moment US airplanes are attacking Tikrit. Remember Tikirt, little village where Saddam Hussein came from? Well, this person discovered that there was a problem at a national park, one of the remedies aside from closure was to lay off park rangers.
Why?

Because it was discovered that, too many white, middle aged, middle class people were making use of said park.  Not a minority to be seen.  Unacceptable. 

Some anonymous millionaire (dare I say the word) white guy, donated a couple of million toward keeping the status quo for another year.  That was the last I heard of the story, and I do believe the libtard plans were scrapped. But I never read a follow up.  So why bring it up now?  Well because the same sort of muddleheaded idiots are still alive and unfortunately well, by which I mean they are still breathing.
And still looking for ways minorities are being shafted by the white establishment.

Diversity chiefs at BBC Trust calls for changes to, ‘too white’ Radio

The BBC Trust has called on the corporation’s music stations to make a series of changes after reviewing their performance.
Overall, the Trust found that the BBC stations were distinctive and perform a vital role in the development and promotion of UK music.

But after analysing listener views, the Trust has demanded a number of changes.

The Trust found that “Radio 2’s reach remains considerably lower than average among black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) audiences.

“While there has been some growth in reach in the last five years, the disparity with reach amongst white listeners has not reduced. As Radio 2 has a remit to serve a broad audience, we are asking it to address this disparity.”

Although Moira Stuart now presents a late-night easy listening show, the presenter line-up, which includes Chris Evans, Steve Wright and Jeremy Vine in high-profile slots, is overwhelmingly white on Britain’s most listened-to station.

Hey ... just for you new folks to this site ... another one you missed and again from several years ago, was the liberal plan to encourage certain people to learn how to fish. Now for those who do not know, this country is famous for it’s fishing and folks come from far away to fish crystal clear English streams and rivers. I don’t fish but was told by some who know something about it, that the chalk streams and rivers here in Hampshire, are especially well known.  The rights to fish certain areas are highly restricted and among the most expensive in the world to fish. So I’ve been told by a neighbor who belongs to a fishing club.
So anyway ....

This brilliant lefty came up with the idea that muslims and especially muslim women, should be encouraged to learn, so they too could fish the streams of England.  That would assume they got their husbands permission to leave the house of course.  It never occurs to lefties there really are cultural differences and those include taste and habits and above all, interests.

He was one of nine men held in a series of co-ordinated dawn raids by counter terrorism police in September last year.

A320 Crash Theory Time

Ok, so this plane has computer systems up the kazoo, and the computer flies the plane from beginning to end most of the time, the pilots just being there for backup.

This flight crashed about a third of the way into a 2, perhaps 2.5 hour flight. Early reports of a Mayday call from the pilots - since “downgraded” to a “communication” or less [now being denied entirely] - happened about 40 minutes before the crash. This may or may not have happened at about the same time the airplane reached it’s cruising altitude of a surprisingly high 38,000 feet. The communication came within a few minutes of take off, in other words. Jets don’t take long to reach altitude.

After that there was no further communication with the aircraft. At least that is my understanding at this point.

8 minutes before the crash the plane began a perfectly controlled descent from 38,000 feet to 6,800 feet. It never deviated from it’s course. And then it flew right into a mountain. And shattered into a billion pieces.

IF France finds the flight recorders, and IF they aren’t mangled beyond use, and IF they make the actual contents public record, then I won’t be at all surprised to find they didn’t record a word of cockpit conversation from within a minute after that distress call, nor a peep from the passenger cabin. I bet there won’t be any records of any AirPhone usage, or any outgoing messages from any of the cell phones on board.

I think the plane was hacked. Brought down. A poison gas canister attached to the air system and triggered by the “seat belts” signal when the plane reached altitude. And exactly 30 minutes later, the engines were shut down. Either by programming or by remote control. And the computer flies the plane perfectly, like a glider in an 8 minute descent, right into an Alp.

I think looking at the passenger list could be very informative. This looks like a hit. A major hit, at the level of nation-states or the largest criminal cartels. Or a worldwide group of fanatics.  So, who was on this flight?

Don’t expect an honest answer. There are no honest governments.

Don’t expect a terrorist group to claim credit for this, IF they have the actual ability. Because if they do, then they’d be smarter to keep quiet and just take down planes at random, or when necessary.  And don’t ever think that any government or “official” investigation is going to tell you if that happened. The airlines would be out of business overnight.

DEVELOPING: A passenger plane with at least 142 people on board has crashed in the French Alps, according to reports.

Reuters, citing French police, reported that an Airbus A320 operated by Germanwings had crashed while flying to Dusseldorf, Germany from Barcelona, Spain. Germanwings is the budget airline run by Lufthansa.

The provincial newspaper La Provence reported that the plane was carrying 142 passengers, along with two pilots and four flight attendants.

(CNN)An Airbus A320 plane operated by Germanwings crashed Tuesday in southeastern France near Digne les Bains, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said.

Plane was flying at 6800 feet altitude. MayDay call came about 35 minutes before crash, content unknown. France reports wreckage spotted. No survivors are expected in this mountainous terrain.

Flight was between Dusseldorf and Barcelona. German Wings is a “Jet Blue” no frills carrier, a subsidiary of Lufthansa. A320 is a mid-size two engine jet.

The Airbus A320 making the flight for Lufthansa’s lowcost arm, Germanwings, crashed near the small mountain village of Barcelonette in the southern Alps. It had made a distress call at 10.47am then disappeared off the radar at around 11.20am, Le Figaro reported.

The wreckage has already been found. Reports are coming in that the pilot never deviated from course, although problems were evident early on in the flight. The A320 is heavily automated; computers fly the plane most of the time. Other reports are saying that the plane descended 31,000 feet in the 10 minutes before the crash.

Another Good Read

One of the perks - or perils, sometimes - of running a Conservative blog is that I get approached by the publishing companies to review new Conservative literature. I’m not always interested in what they have to offer, but sometimes I bite. And sometimes what they send me is a real gem. I think that’s the case with the latest, Utah Senator Mike Lee’s Our Lost Constitution, a short (256 pages) concise reminder of the importance of several pieces of that document that appear to be being ignored, how that has lead to the federal government running amok, and how the Legislative Branch can fix things. If they have the nuts to do so. The book hits the shelves in 15 days. I’ve had a few copies of it for 3 days now, and my wife and I have been reading and discussing it constantly.

I gather the book is dividing into two parts: What’s Wrong, and How To Fix It. I haven’t got to the second part yet, but I’m really looking forward to it. Senator Lee writes in a very straightforward manner, explaining what a certain part of the Constitution is all about, and then shows how Washington has messed things up by doing an end run, by over-delegation, or by simply flouting the rules and getting away with it.

The past year’s political news stories have been such a dung heap that I’ve had to stop paying attention to most of them. It’s all bad, all of it. I was giving myself an ulcer, metaphorically, spending so much time on these horrid tales and working myself into a tizzy. Senator Lee’s book is helping me de-stress my distress, letting me play Constitutional Whack-a-Mole ... “this bit of legislation is wrong because of Section XYZ; it’s unconstitutional, so throw it out” and then move on. The problem is, that Mole Mallet can swat nearly everything that DC has generated in the past decade or two. Under Obama andBush. And Clinton.

If Senator Lee isn’t the greatest Tea Party elected official ever, then he must be in the top ten. Top five. Please Lord, don’t let this good man get DC Disease.

Our Lost Constitution would make a superb adjunct text to any high school Civics, Constitutional Law, or Social Studies class. And it will get you fired up again. It sure has around our house.

Send them your money ASAP

You know how it is. You want to have a nice glass of your favorite hard liquor, but you wish you could soften the edge just a little bit. So you add a dash of water to your fine single malt, and that does open things up quite well. But when you play that trick on your more utilitarian bourbons, gins, rums, whiskeys, or sipping tequilas all you get is watered down booze. So you try the old “on the rocks” gambit and toss in a couple ice cubes. And then mostly works. Mostly. The ice does cool things down, but you have to watch the timing carefully. Sip too soon and you don’t get any cooling. Sip too late and you get a mouthful of booze flavored water. And then you’ve got to match your drinking rate to the ice cube’s melting rate. Which can be dangerous on a summer day! So you have a little Ah Ha moment, and decide to freeze the glasses ahead of time. And this works great, for about 2 or 3 minutes.

There’s got to be a better way.

Oy, what to post?

Bowling league got canceled last night. Snowed out. We took about 4-5” of slop, which is rapidly melting. Good. And stay away. No more snow.

The head of the ATF is resigning. He gave 11 days notice. Gosh, and that’s right on the heels of the TOTAL FAILURE of that slick attempt at banning M855 green tip 5.56 ammo, which caused such a furor online, and then on TV news, that it spurred a HUGE piece of the Senate and the House to publicly decry the attempt. Guess he made the boss look bad, getting caught out an all. So, under the bus with him too!

A majority in both the Senate and House — 52 senators, 238 House members — have joined to oppose the Obama administration’s move to ban a popular type of ammo used in the top-selling AR-15 rifle and pistol because it pierces police body armor.

A week after the House members, led by Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte, sent a letter of opposition to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley echoed that in his own letter signed by 51 others.

Right ... so now it’s bye-bye to another outsider sinecure soul brutha appointed by Obama.

B. Todd Jones, the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), today announced he will depart to pursue opportunities in the private sector. Jones’s resignation becomes effective March 31.

The head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives plans to step down at the end of the month, more than three years after taking over the agency as it was reeling from a botched sting operation.

B. Todd Jones was the first ATF director confirmed by the Senate, taking office in July 2013. Prior to that, he served for nearly two years as the agency’s interim chief in the wake of its “Fast and Furious” gun-walking program, which caused a major controversy and led to the departure of several officials.

The job now goes, temporarily, to Thomas Brandon, a white guy who has been with the ATF since 1989, and currently serves as ATF Deputy Chairman.

At the time of his appointment as Deputy Director, Mr. Brandon was serving as the Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Division, directing field operations for ATF in Arizona and New Mexico.

A member of the Senior Executive Service and a seasoned law enforcement professional, Mr. Brandon began his ATF career as a Special Agent in 1989, with Detroit as his first office assignment. Rising through the ranks at ATF, he served in many management positions including Special Agent in Charge and Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Division; Supervisory Special Agent of the Detroit Arson and Explosives Enforcement Group; Special Agent with the Office of Inspection in Washington, DC; Supervisory Special Agent of the Achilles Enforcement Group in Los Angeles, California; and as the Division Intelligence Officer with the Phoenix, Arizona, Field Division. Mr. Brandon also held the position of Chief of ATF’s National Academy, in Glynco, Georgia.

Mr. Brandon is a member of several professional organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, in 1987.

Mr. Brandon proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1978 to 1982, where his assignments included Embassy duty in Rome, Italy, and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Brandon is a native of New Jersey.

Sounds like Brandon is the one who should have been in charge the whole time. I have no idea what, if any, his involvement in the whole Fast And Furious scandal was. But at least his temporary leadership will be driven by experience.

I’m such a raycis. I don’t care anymore.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
