The Flying Robo-Jeep

AirMule Gets Closer To Approval

70 years ago, the idea of a little flying vehicle that could get in and out of the most inhospitable areas was just science fiction. 60 years ago the “flying jeep” idea was tried, but ... ahem ... never got off the ground. Until about a decade ago, when the IDF realized it needed some kind of go-anywhere helicopter vehicle about the size of a pickup truck. Much R&D later, coupled with the latest advances in drones, and ta-da. Awesome. The future is now.

image

It’s a helicopter that mated with a hovercraft. It’s a swing wing ducted rotor lifting body aircraft with no wings and all the rotors inside. It’s an ambulance drone. It’s a small package delivery system that can drop off 1000lb of gear at a go. It hovers. It flies at 70mph 3 miles up in the sky. It’s for real. And a good chunk of it is already FAA approved.

Flying tactical robots also are taking off in new directions. Urban Aeronautics, an Israeli company, is developing a compact, unmanned single-engine vertical take-off and landing aircraft with internal rotors called the AirMule. The features mean it can fly into obstructed areas, such as jungles or urban environments, and land on steep hillsides without concerns about rotor obstruction. As military operations move away from open-desert battlefields to more congested locations, maneuverability will become increasingly important.

AirMule can evacuate two casualties or reconfigure for other payloads. The vehicle can carry loads of 1,000 pounds or more, making it unique in its field. “There’s nothing that’s the size of a Humvee and can take off vertically with a 1,000-pound load,” said Rafi Yoeli, president and chief executive officer of Urban Aeronautics.

Making these capabilities a practical reality has been a long road. Research on the concept began about 12 years ago. In December 2013, the first fully autonomous flight took place, and a full-fledged mission demonstration is slated for some time next year.

image

The AirMule ... is an unmanned flying car UAS designed by Rafi Yoeli and build by Tactical Robotics LTD., a subsidiary of Urban Aeronautics LTD. in Yavne, Israel. It will be used in search and rescue operations where it would be too dangerous or inaccessible for a helicopter, such as evacuating people from the upper stories of burning buildings, or delivering and extracting police and soldiers while very close to structures, narrow streets, and or through holes into confined spaces.
...
After the 2006 Lebanon War, the IDF realized that it needed a special vehicle that could fly unmanned behind enemy lines in order to rescue its wounded. While the helicopter is the best evacuation vehicle, it requires an area clear of trees or electricity columns in order to land without obstructing the rotor. Chances of it safely leaving a fire-heavy zone are small as it attracts all sorts of weapons fire. The advantages of a ducted fan propelled unmanned air vehicle are that it could offer the same capabilities as helicopters, but without the serious operating limitations. It could navigate in and out of creeks, city streets, next to big buildings, compact alleyways and refugee camp warrens, while the shielded rotor blades make the “Air Mule” tougher than a regular helicopter. Being unmanned, the “Air Mule” could enter situations too risky for regular helicopters. It could deliver supplies or cargo, evacuate up to two casualties from the battlefield and transferring them to a field deployed hospital for medical treatment. Some missions may require to be conducted up to hundreds of kilometers from forward operating bases (FOB) and medical care facilities with the only medical support available on scene being unit medics or fellow soldiers. The war reports have shown that moving an individual only a few hundred yards can take an hour or more.

As of 2012 and into 2014, according to NATO STO TR-HFM-184 report, the “Air Mule” remains the only available design that meets NATO and IDF requirement for an unmanned MEDEVAC and CASEVAC vehicle.

Urban Aeronautics Ltd. has patented its design as Fancraft. The Fancraft technologies are supported by 37 registered (granted) patents and 12 additional are in the process.

image

The AirMule is a compact, unmanned, single engine, vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft capable of evacuating two casualties or lifting significant payloads into urban or mountainous terrain. It is part of a new family of internal rotor (ducted fan) aircraft known as Fancraft™.

Urban Aeronautics is the world leader in the design of VTOL utility aircraft. These aircraft are capable of operating safely in a vast, new and significant range of missions in confined areas. This is possible via the exclusive reliance on internally mounted lift rotors.

Urban Aeronautics has taken the lead in the development of the AirMule. Flying autonomously or controlled remotely without on-board crew, the AirMule can carry a useful load of 500 kilograms and fly under the radar to land within a minimal space of 40m2 without a runway. It is designed to meet stringent US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) manned helicopter safety standards, fulfilling all airworthiness requirements for future implementation as a safe transporter of casualties from the disaster area.

Dr. Rafi Yoeli, president and chief executive officer of Urban Aeronautics, said: “Responsiveness, reliability and, above all, safety are the key requirements we have when selecting tools and components for our UAS craft. Green Hills Software has a proven track record of providing operating systems, middleware and development tools that meet these standards and so we had no hesitation in working with them.”

image

What’s more, the thing isn’t even very loud. Ducting the prop blades and keeping the fans internal and behind guidance vanes keeps the noise down to the 87dB range. All that fanwork also results in a minimized heat signature. The AirMule is naturally stealthy as a side effect. Plus it’s small, and made from carbon fiber, for an even lesser radar signature. Nifty. Stick a cockpit on them and they might make a great personal urban vehicle. Aside from the $2.5 million price tag.

King Bad Ass

Jordan’s King Leads Air Strikes Against ISIS

image

And you thought Putin was macho? King Abdullah friggin’ pegs the manli-meter. Strikes take out at least 55 ISIS creeps including some delusional leader.

The US-led coalition against Islamic State was under increased pressure last night as the King of Jordan pledged to avenge the brutal murder of one of his pilots.

King Abdullah, a strong ally of Washington and London, had personally taken the decision to take part in controversial air strikes in neighbouring Syria that led to First Lieutenant Moaz al-Kasasbeh being burned to death.

But some Jordanians say they have already paid too high a price to support America’s military operations in the region and have questioned the king’s approach and their role in the coalition.

It is estimated that some 1,500 Jordanians are already fighting with jihadi groups such as ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and there is concern that long-term participation in the coalition will fuel extremism.

Significantly, it emerged yesterday that the United Arab Emirates, one of four Arab nations in the anti-ISIS coalition, had already stopped air strikes and would not resume them until improvements were made to contingency plans to rescue downed pilots.

The king promised a ‘relentless’ operation against ISIS in a defiant speech last night in response to the murder of its pilot, whose F-16 fighter crashed in December over the jihadi Syrian headquarters in Raqqa.

Speaking on state television, he said: ‘We are waging this war to protect our faith, our values and human principles, and our war for their sake will be relentless and will hit them in their own ground.’

Jordanian Author Waleed Abu Nada Tweeted on Wednesday afternoon, “Local reports here in Jordan say that King Abdullah will personally fly and lead the airstrikes against ISIS tomorrow.”

Middle East commentator Joseph Braude wrote on Twitter: “Reports that Jordanian King Abdullah, himself a pilot, will fly sorties on ISIS targets.”

Before assuming the throne, Abullah II was a Major General in charge of Jordanian Special Forces. Abdullah is also certified as a Cobra Attack Helicopter Pilot. In 1980, he joined the UK’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the British Army.

Jordanian air strikes on Wednesday neutralized at least 55 Islamic State jihadists, including a top Islamic State commander who was known as the “Prince of Nineveh,” according to reports.

That is seriously bad ass.

Many heads of states around the world have paid lip service to fighting jihadists and standing against the monsters of ISIS. King Abdullah is walking the talk.

The King addressed members of the U.S. Congress yesterday, and reportedly quoted Clint Eastwood from his film Unforgiven in declaring his resolve to avenge his pilot’s savage murder on ISIS:

Hunter would not say which part of “Unforgiven” the king quoted, but noted it was where Eastwood’s character describes how he is going to deliver his retribution. There is a scene in the picture in which Eastwood’s character, William Munny, says, “Any man I see out there, I’m gonna kill him. Any son of a bitch takes a shot at me, I’m not only going to kill him, I’m going to kill his wife and all his friends and burn his damn house down.“

This man is seriously pissed, and determined to avenge his pilot’s savage death.

King Bad Ass also rides a big hog, and has a red hot wife, Queen Rania, who isn’t having any of that dress in a bag bullshit.

image

Jordanian fighter pilots carried out devastating sorties against ISIS early Thursday, making good on their king’s vow of vengeance for the horrific burning death of a captured airman—whose hometown the jets buzzed triumphantly after the mission.

Reports from the Middle East said the latest strikes killed 55 members of ISIS, including a senior commander known as the “Prince of Nineveh.” Jordanian state-run media did not specify where the strikes took place. They came a day after King Abdullah stepped up his angry rhetoric at the terrorist army in neighboring Iraq and Syria following the horrific death of Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh, who was burned alive in a cage in a shocking atrocity caught on a videotape released by Islamic State on Tuesday.

“The blood of martyr Muath al-Kaseasbeh will not be in vain and the response of Jordan and its army after what happened to our dear son will be severe,” said King Abdullah in a statement released by the royal court on Wednesday. A day earlier, he told U.S. lawmakers in Washington, where he had been on a diplomatic mission when the video was released, that Jordan would fight Islamic State until it ran “out of fuel and bullets.”

The Great Equator

More and more I come to believe that Obama is an islamist.  It isn’t just that he is sympathetic to them. It isn’t just that he supports them. Or was brought up in their faith as a young child. I think he actually thinks the same way they do. Deep down, at his core, he does not see the world like a Western man.

At the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama reminded attendees that violence rooted in religion isn’t exclusive to Islam, but has been carried out by Christians as well.

Obama said that even though religion is a source for good around the world, there will always be people willing to “hijack religion for their own murderous ends.”

“Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” Obama said. “In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ.”

Right. Because in sandland, we’re still “crusaders” and “Franks” from the early Middle Ages (even though the Franks split up to form both France and Germany about 1000 years ago), and time stands still. Also, please ignore that war in those days was really brutal and gory in an up close and personal way. Also ignore that the Crusades themselves at least started out as defensive actions against the 400 year onslaught of islam, which by then had taken over half the Christian world in a never ending bloodbath.

The Inquisition was also in the Middle Ages, starting up about 20 years before Columbus sailed over this way. And we obviously haven’t changed or matured a bit in the 500 years since then. Also, please ignore that there are many conflicting studies about the Inquisition, debating just how virulent it really was.

Let’s not even go there with that last bit, with the blatant hypocrisy of a black man being a Democrat, and then on top of that calling out the Democrat supported institutions of slavery and the later Jim Crow laws ... as being driven by Christianity. Do we have any scholars out there? Have I lived my whole life under a rock? Because I’ve heard a whole lifetime about Jim Crow, and I’ve read quite a bit about it, and this is the very first time I’ve ever heard anything about a Christian justification for it. Slavery, I know, once upon a time was supported by theological arguments, because you can find mention of slavery in the Bible. Old and New Testaments both, so you can’t only point the finger at Christians. Nor do you just have to lay down and take it; while there are many references to slavery in the book, abolitionists also cited the written Word when they argued for manumission.

I’m just having an OMG moment, realizing that these things really are equated in his head. He’s an apologist. An islamist. And he has no understanding whatsoever about history and the development of cultures. Perhaps because his core culture stopped developing, on purpose, about 1000 years ago.

I guess we should be happy that he didn’t mention the witch burnings in Salem in the 1600s. That was Christian behavior too, kind of. I bet in his mind it excuses the latest atrocity from ISIS.

Cowering Cowards

This really offends me. Especially that it was published the morning after the ISIS burning.

CNN: Hide Your Face, Wear A Bag for World Hijab Day

(Ladies, doesn’t it feel great to be a submissive? Why not run to the movies right now and watch 50 Shades again?)

image

No, I don’t want to learn about and experience some other culture. Let it live over yonder, where it belongs. Bring it here, and I want to stamp it out.

World Hijab Day encourages women to try covering up

To some, the hijab is a symbol of female oppression and Islamic fundamentalism.

But to Nazma Khan, a Muslim who moved from Bangladesh to New York at age 11, the headscarf is a symbol of her religious belief in beauty through modesty.

“Modesty is part of our Islamic faith,” Khan wrote in an email. “No one should be discriminated (against) for following their faith.”

So Khan started World Hijab Day to build empathy for this perspective and to encourage non-Muslims, and Muslims who don’t normally wear a hijab, to try it out. The Arabic word hijab refers not just to a headscarf but to modest dress and behavior in general.

“Our goal is to foster global religious tolerance and understanding through hijab awareness. Many women get discriminated (against) simply because they choose to wear the hijab,” Khan said. “Hopefully, this event will make people realize that women who wear the hijab are just like anyone else. They’re not oppressed or are forced to wear it. They just simply want to follow their faith by being modest, just like Mary (mother of Jesus).”

For the first time in its three-year run, Sunday’s World Hijab Day became a trending topic on social media as women supported the effort in events worldwide and shared images tagged #WorldHijabDay.

“Covering up should be a free choice! I may not be Muslim or religious but I support the beauty a hijab can bring to a woman,” said one woman who shared an image through the World Hijab Day website.

So, “modest is hottest”, eh? And it’s just a scarf. Right. So, just in case you don’t think women are getting enough mixed messages from the media/culture, let’s go visit the NY Daily News to see what’s breaking and shaking over there ...

Oh Sure, NOW They Say Something

Cairo (AFP) - Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam’s most prestigious centre of learning, expressed outrage at the Islamic State group for burning to death a captive Jordanian pilot, saying its militants deserve to be killed or crucified.

After a video was released showing the caged fighter pilot, Maaz al-Kassasbeh, dying engulfed in flames, the Cairo-based authority’s head, Ahmed al-Tayib, expressed his “strong dismay at this cowardly act”.

This “requires the punishment mentioned in the Koran for these corrupt oppressors who fight against God and his prophet: killing, crucifixion or chopping of the limbs.”

“Islam forbids killing of the innocent human soul… It forbids mutilating the human soul by burning or in any other way even during wars against an enemy that attacks you,” Tayib added in a statement.

IS itself has implemented such punishments against its own members for robbery at checkpoints or stealing funds from religious endowments in territories controlled by the group in Iraq and Syria.

Tens of thousands of rockets falling onto schools in Israel? Silence.

Thousands of muslim women stoned to death or murdered by their own families for “honor killings”? Silence.

Hundreds of Christians burned alive in their churches throughout Africa by crazy depraved muslim mobs? Silence.

One muslim soldier burned alive by a bunch of crazy jihadis? Outrage! It’s the end of the world! Vengeance! Smite those bastards!!!

Just a bit of perspective.

I didn’t even have to click the link

The thing about stereotypes is that they become stereotypes by frequently being true. We don’t want to admit that, and try to pretend otherwise.
I saw this link on a news page this morning, and I just knew. So will you. Bad us. But we’re still right.

Cops: Teacher attacked 1st grader for having too much food at lunch

A Louisiana teacher is out of a job after police allege she kicked and slapped one of her first grade students last month.

Chanel Lemelle, 31, resigned from her position at Bains Lower Elementary School in St. Francisville last week as investigators looked into allegations she struck a student in the cafeteria during lunch Jan. 23, The Advocate reports.

“She’s very sad that this is going on,” Lemelle’s attorney, Don Cazayoux, told the news site. “She loves teaching, loves her students and would never do anything to hurt any of her children.”

Camera footage of the school’s cafeteria and witness reports, however, tell a different story.

“A sheriff’s deputy who reviewed camera footage of the incident wrote in an arrest report that as the student walked by Lemelle in the school’s cafeteria, she could be seen kicking him in the rear,” according to The Advocate.

“The video also showed her slapping the boy on the back of the head, the deputy wrote.”

Prior to the incident, witnesses said Lemelle yelled at the student “in a loud and degrading manner because he was not walking like he was supposed to,” and held the child back from the lunch line until his classmates received their food, according to the police report.

When the student returned with his lunch, Lemelle allegedly made the child sit by himself, then took some of his food, telling him “he only needed one taco,” the news site reports.

The student recounted the same story when interviewed by Child Advocacy Services, according to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Lemelle was charged with one count of cruelty to juveniles Monday, immediately posted a $20,000 bail, and was released. She was replaced by a new teacher the same day, superintendent Hollis Milton told The Advocate.

Witnesses told a sheriff’s deputy that it wasn’t the first time Lemelle was inappropriate with students.

They said she often brought an empty plate to lunch and filled it with food from her students. One of the witnesses also allegedly found Lemelle in the hallway about a week ago with the same student she’s charged with abusing. The child was crying and Lemelle was yelling and “waiving a stick at him,” according to the police report.

Lemelle has taught in the district the last 10 years, and is the daughter of a retired federal prosecutor who now operates a private law firm with Cazayoux, The Advocate reports.

Crowds gather to watch the barbaric murder of Jordanian pilot on giant screens

The little shit pictured here, looks old enough to understand that he is viewing an atrocity. But it doesn’t matter.

That confirms what many of you already know.
These are sub standard life forms that should be eliminated by any means.

Drew had suggestions yesterday that says it all.  He offered the solution I’ve been banging on about for a couple of years. But, it ain’t gonna happen.

Mores the pity.
Take a look.

Shocking video shows ISIS supporters gathering to watch murder video
Big screens have been erected in terror group’s de facto capital Raqqa
Film of Moaz al-Kasasbeh being burnt alive appears to be playing on loop
Crowd cheer and shout religious slogans as pilot is engulfed by flames
Film then shows locals - including children - talking about the atrocity

Chilling new release is titled ‘Muslims’ Joy at Burning of Jordanian Pilot’

A Hare Raising Tail

Attack of the Giant Bunnies

Fargo ND invaded by swarm of hungry jackrabbits

image

A “huge flock” of jackrabbits in a Fargo, North Dakota, neighborhood has homeowners feeling jumpy.

More than 50 jackrabbits the size of small dogs have been hopping around backyards and a park of a new development in South Fargo, resident Kayla Straabe told ABC News today.

“Every day, I feel like the crazy rabbit lady chasing them out of the yard where they’re having a hay day,” Straabe said. “There’s at least 40 to 50 everyday, and they’re in our yards and by a children’s park.”

She said the city pest control department told her that they couldn’t do anything about the jackrabbits, technically wild hares, because they were wild animals.

“I was told we should poison them, which I will absolutely not do,” Straabe said.

There is no city ordinance that deals with depopulating rabbits in the area, Fargo Police Lt. Joel Vettel told ABC News.

“I can’t imagine someone would suggest poisoning the rabbits, but it’s true we don’t have anything in place to allow us to deal with the rabbits,” Vettel said. “What residents can do is start a formal process to get an ordinance, which is usually done at committee meetings.”

Straabe said the critters were cute at first when a few appeared about two to three months ago. But now, they’re frustrating, she said, noting they’ve multiplied and that they are now leaving their droppings everywhere and devouring trees and shrubs.

Pretty unbelievable. North Dakota? The high plains, the wild west, the great wide open, heartland America? And they’re complaining to the press about bunnies and crying to the government that somebody should solve this problem for them?

This is what happens when you let liberals out of the cities, and allow them to move outside their protected college towns. Great googly-moogly.

Two solutions for you honey…

First up, the ultimate Green way, to deal with your suburban white guilt for encroaching on the jack’s natural habitat: import some wolves. Or a few dozen extra large coyotes. Half a dozen cougars. Sure, your pets are going to become snacks, and you might lose a few of your children here and there, but you’ll be doing it Gaia’s way, bringing back those apex predators, and completing the great Circle Of Life. We’ll even send you a couple native drums and some greasepaint, and you can have a big drum ceremony and dance around a small, carefully controlled, supervised, low carbon emission fire. At a safe distance, of course.

Second method, the standard American way. Go to the store and buy yourself a .22 rifle and a brick of hollow point ammo. Shut up, get to work, solve the situation yourself. Buy a few cases of canned tomatoes too, since prairie rabbit is kinda tough, and needs plenty of stewing.

Un. Frickin. Believable.

PS - Don’t go calling the hares the size of small dogs until they hit 30lb or more. In the real world, something the size of a small dog is the size of ... a small dog. Not that drippy eyed pocket yip-yip you keep because it’s a fashion accessory. That isn’t even a dog, at least not in terms of size metaphors.

wanna buy a duck? (joe penny) no thanks. just a washing machine

Weather forecast here under a headline yesterday said that Feb. would be warmer inside your fridge.  Pity the folks who live in the north tho. Snow and ice and more cold winds from Russia.

Meanwhile ;

Our old washing machine which really is not ancient and should have worked, no longer does. Pile of crap even when new but we were not aware.

So am looking to either repair for short term use, as expenses are gonna eat away at our budget, due to new windows for the rest of the old homestead, and painting and carpets and new this and that. So a washing machine wasn’t front of the line until it just quit on us.

Considering all the other things that need doing, I thought at least I should check into the possibility of repair and making it go for one more year.

First place I called never returned the call.  That’s pretty much par for the course here.

Second place wanted a flat £119.00 to come out and I assumed the call out charge is included. Still, 119?  With the rate of exchange at $1.51 to the pound (£) I passed.

So then I emailed a third place and got an answer today.
Here’s their email.

Thank you for your enquiry. The type of washing machine that you are looking for is not kept by our suppliers. If you want us to look at your appliance, then there is a callout fee of £65+vat for the 1st half hr. £14+vat per 15mins thereafter. If there are parts that needs replacing , we will quote you for the parts to be replaced assuming they are available. There won’t be a 2nd callout, just engineers time at £14+vat per 15mins.

Here’s what that all works out to.

£65.00 = $98.44
£14.00 = $21.20
VAT is 20%

I think we’re looking at a new machine real soon.
By the way ... the machine they mention that isn’t stocked, is one with a tilt drum. Apparently they are not easy to find here. Several years ago I saw them, now I see none.

A top loading washer with dryer built on top, is an American import, if you can still find one.  Maytag makes them. But hugely expensive.

Pollster Points Out The Holes

Jim Clifton, CEO of Gallup: 5.6% Unemployment Rate Is The Big Lie

Well no, really? Golly, us dumb and bitter flyover clingers never woulda figgered that one out, not ever. Certainly not 7 or even more years ago. Certainly not when we see the economy shrink by a third, leaving millions of trained, able, competent people washed up on the sidelines. Certainly not when we see waves of illegals, millions strong, flooding our nation to absorb the lower end jobs available, send the money out of our country, and leave disease and crime in its place. No, we never figured any of this out, not even those of us who managed to hang on to that corporate office job, although maybe forgoing a raise for the past 5 to 7 years to do it, while the ever expanding government kept right on giving itself raises and hiring more and more of the “right kind” of people. No, we never guessed any of this.

Here’s something that many Americans—including some of the smartest and most educated among us—don’t know: The official unemployment rate, as reported by the U.S. Department of Labor, is extremely misleading.

Right now, we’re hearing much celebrating from the media, the White House and Wall Street about how unemployment is “down” to 5.6%. The cheerleading for this number is deafening. The media loves a comeback story, the White House wants to score political points and Wall Street would like you to stay in the market.

...

There’s no other way to say this. The official unemployment rate, which cruelly overlooks the suffering of the long-term and often permanently unemployed as well as the depressingly underemployed, amounts to a Big Lie.

And it’s a lie that has consequences, because the great American dream is to have a good job, and in recent years, America has failed to deliver that dream more than it has at any time in recent memory. A good job is an individual’s primary identity, their very self-worth, their dignity—it establishes the relationship they have with their friends, community and country. When we fail to deliver a good job that fits a citizen’s talents, training and experience, we are failing the great American dream.

Thanks for finally coming clean, Mr. Pollster. For that we’ll allow you to put on your own blindfold and tie yourself to the post. You’re still getting the firing squad for misleading the people for years on end, taking part in the big charade.  It’s because of your absolute dishonesty, yours and your media cronies, that we’re in this mess, almost to begin with.

BREAKING NEWS: Burned alive in a cage: ISIS release video claiming to show horrifying murder of captured Jordanian pilot

By John Hall for MailOnline

Militants fighting for the Islamic State terror group in Syria and Iraq have released a video they claim shows Jordanian pilot Maaz al-Kassasbeh being burnt alive while locked in a cage.

The footage, which is titled ‘Healing the Believers Chests’ appears to show the captured airman wearing an orange jumpsuit as a trail of petrol leading up to the cage is seen being set alight.

Flames are seen quickly spreading to the cage where they completely engulf the helpless pilot in images that are far too distressing to publish.

does anyone believe a 4 year old can commit rape? world may be sicker than we thought.

Takes a lot these days to make me scratch my head when reading a story in the paper and say to myself, self … that can’t really be true. Nah. Too much ott.

I moved on from questioning some horror story a long time ago. Nowadays almost nothing surprises me.
I have read about groups of young punks who target very old ppl, and not satisfied with merely robbing them, the bastards take delight in beating the hell out them.
Same thing with some poor handicapped person, and like the very old, unable to offer any sort of defense. And sometimes people have died.  But I am not surprised.

Well, today I read something that did surprise me because I had never, ever heard or read of anything quite this bizarre. I don’t even know how it’s possible.

I have read about boys as young as ten, who have raped young girls, some so young they’re hardly out of babyhood.. Does not surprise me. It did when I fist read about it a few years ago, but now it’s just part of the landscape. No surprise there. And 9 isn’t any surprise either.

But FOUR YEARS OLD and a rapist?  Huh? Four?  As in, 4?

And, an 8 year old girl has, it is reported, sexually assaulted a young boy.
Paper didn’t say how young or what sort of assault specifically.  Not sure I wanna know.  But a girl?  Of 8?  Not surprised really. True, one doesn’t hear of that often, but I am still not surprised.  However ….
I find it very hard to get my head around a 4 year old rapist.
I would not have thought he had anything to rape with at that age.  I would not have even thought a four year old was capable of thinking in those terms.

Child aged FOUR investigated by police for rape: Experts blame internet porn for the 800 under-tens who have sexually assaulted other children

Shocking new figures were revealed by a Freedom of Information request
Experts say many offenders will have been the victim of abuse themselves
No legal action taken as children under ten are not criminally responsible
Disturbing revelation comes two years after PM vowed to block online porn

A four-year child was investigated by police for rape while 800 youngster under the age of ten have sexually assaulted other children in the last six years.

The shocking revelations are a terrifying insight into the child abuse crisis plaguing Britain - with experts blaming internet porn and the sexualisation of children for the rise in offences.

The figures, obtained by The Sunday Mirror, also show that the annual number of sex offenders under the age of ten has doubled in the last three years.

Child protection experts believe the majority of the youngsters will have been abuse victims themselves.

But they are also deeply concerned about the accessibility of extreme online pornography and the effect this can have on children who watch it.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
