mustn’t say anything that might offend or appear islamophobic

Words almost fail.
What dumb asses they are.  I suppose they think that when the dark mass that is islam takes over, their kind thoughts will spare them.

And speaking of a dark mass. Some darkie with a foreign sounding name, see below,
shows how far into stupid black leadership has taken these brain dead, dead beats.
Scary when ya think, the Labour leader Ed Miliband is suggesting a voting age of 16.

National Union of Students refuses to condemn ISIS due to fears it would be ‘Islamophobic’

· Student had put forward motion calling for condemnation of ISIS atrocities
·
· Also called on National Union of Students to pledge support for Iraqi people
· Motion defeated after rebellion led by Black Students Officer Malia Bouattia
· She said motion raised at meeting was merely a ‘justification for war’
· Ms Bouattia has vowed to start work on revised motion which will not be ‘Islamophobic’
· Daniel Cooper, who proposed motion, said he could see no signs of Islamophobia
· Debate raised National Executive Council meeting of the NUS in September
By Julian Robinson
The National Union of Students has come under fire after it refused to condemn ISIS - because of fears it was ‘Islamophobic’.
Students put forward a motion at the body’s National Executive Council meeting calling for the condemnation of terrorist atrocities and support for the Iraqi people.

But the call was defeated after a rebellion led by Black Students Officer Malia Bouattia, who said the motion was merely a ‘justification for war’.
It comes a day after military chiefs from around the globe met to discuss the battle against ISIS and despite a number of Muslim leaders in Britain having condemned the extremist group.

One student, who wished to remain anonymous, said: ‘Islamophobia is a meaningless term used by irrational people when unable to rebut a rational criticism.
‘Malia Bouattia should realise how lucky she is to be able to stand up and express her opinions with freedom and security.

‘She would not enjoy the same freedom if she were to visit the ISIS/ISIL that she refuses to condemn, and protested her opinions.’
Another added: ‘I personally would find something rather Islamophobic in Ms Bouattia’s idea that condemning ISIS is also to condemn the other, approximately two billion Muslims on the planet - who don’t rape minorities or murder journalists.

Birmingham student Malia Bouattia led a team who either abstained or voted against the proposal, leading to the motion’s defeat.

She said: ‘We recognise that condemnation of ISIS appears to have become a justification for war and blatant Islamaphobia.

‘This rhetoric exacerbates the issue at hand and in essence is a further attack on those we aim to defend.

‘The NUS Black Students’ Campaign stands in support of Black communities across the globe and uncompromisingly against imperialism and Western interference which history shows all too often leads to the suffering of Black people.

cont.here

Of course, they never but ever act in such a way as to bring things on themselves.  I think I’ll quit here. I see a red curtain.

deluge!

It’s quarter after 5 in the morning.  It’s been raining so hard, I thought the lady upstairs was taking an endless shower with her doors open. Finally I got out of bed and looked out the window, to see rain coming down pretty much as hard as it possibly could. Seriously, it could not fall faster, denser, or harder. Rain like this you usually have to take a family driving vacation to get. Boy oh boy. That’s rain at the 4-5” per hour rate. Deluge time.

Ok, a little glass of iced tea, empty the bladder, check the weather channel to make sure it’s not the complete end of the world, then back to bed.

AM News - CDC is all like, “gee, maybe we shouldn’t let ebola workers on airplanes, cha, like maybe at all?” as Columbia joins the growing list of nations that are cutting themselves off from the benefits of West African tourism for the time being.

Colombia’s Foreign Ministry issued a brief statement saying the country was barring entry by any travelers requiring visas who have been in five African nations with Ebola outbreaks—Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Senegal. It said the step was being taken at the recommendation of Colombia’s National Institute of Health.

Yup, still raining like a freight train. Wow. Nite!

Ebola Day

I could not turn on the TV or the radio today without hearing about Ebola, non-stop. Ebola ebola ebola ebola ebola. Hey, how about that Ebola! Did you here George Clooney married Ebola last week? Ya think Ebola will make the playoffs? Hey, check out the opening weekend grosses from Ebola, the Epidemic Movie!

Don’t worry folks, no need to panic. Except that pResident Useless actually didn’t play golf today, didn’t go to a fundraiser, and actually did attend a cabinet meeting and then give a little speech on live TV this afternoon. “Nothing to panic about” he says, yet his change in behavior is so radical from his usual narcissistic detachment that it is almost panic inducing. Obama is working? Holy Cats, it’s the end of the world!!!!

Naturally, he still isn’t closing the borders, he still isn’t stopping flights from West Africa or banning their entry here, and he’s still sending the 101st Airborne over there to ... do nothing, and then get sick and die I guess. And hey, let’s “redefine” the word outbreak to make it sound less scary.

And as the airline stocks take a huge nosedive on Wall Street today, it looks like I’m not the only one who’s figured out that I have no way in Hell of knowing whose sweaty infectious West African ass was in the seat before me. And the news is ... that IDIOT nurse finishes mopping up the Ebola puke, and gets on an airplane with a fever - but not one at or above the official NO NO NO limit! - but a fever still, and with the knowledge of her co-workers, plus permission from the CDC!! ... and that airplane made FIVE flights with 130+ passengers before anyone linked it back to her and they off-lined the thing for a fast shot of Lysol. Riiiight, I’m going to on an airplane just as soon as I can. NFWIH.

turn it off after her opening; this is the tape of her whole show.

There are two errors on this picture. Find them. One is an obvious error in labeling, the other is an unforgivable error of omission. Small hint: neither error has anything to do with the fighting men featured. Hey, I’ve even stood on the John Basilone memorial bridge over in Raritan, as it’s right next to the only Whipple Truss bridge in NJ.

sleep walking one

Finally, after waiting 10 long years, one half of this very old and (sadly) decaying house, the last of the original three built by same builder in 1920’s, is about to get new windows in the front.

image
(Btw ... house in foreground demolished and replaced by a really ugly house, and home to annoying barking dogs. Note to self. Kill those F dogs. Even the hedge seen here no longer looks trimmed cos it isn’t unless we do it. )

The rest of the house, sides and back, will be done in the spring.  Just hope the weather holds one more day.  There’s work this place needs but we can’t do it all at once. Anyway …. half the time you can’t get the ppl to do the work to begin with. Even when you agree to a price. They just don’t show up.

Have things to move ahead of time, and computer to be disconnected late today, with everything moved towards back of the room and out of the way.

Two large windows downstairs and two smaller upstairs.  Gonna be a mess for awhile but hopefully once done we can join the 21st century, window wise I guess.

image

For years about the only thing holding things up has been paint. Everything is rust of the worst I’ve seen.  Better late than never as the saying goes.  Be a relief to be able to open a window upstairs in warmer times.  Haven’t been able to do that for almost a year.  Wish they had window screens here tho.  Windows don’t open inward like home. They open outward.
I’ll be glad when the work gets done and I can relax.  Won’t be back online again till Late Friday, all being well and that includes me.

Had accident of the dumbest sort two weeks ago. Self inflicted cos I was too damn lazy to bother just reaching for a step stool or three step ladder in next room.

Instead, I reached up to grab a box off the top of a wardrobe, somehow lost grip and down it came on the side of my head. Blood running down the side of my head, not my idea of fun.

By next day the pains started. Not too bad during most of day but really terrible in mornings and in the evenings. Stiff neck too.
Odd thing, doesn’t hurt at all at the point of original contact. Swelling went away in about three or so days.  Pain is all in back of head.

(to be continued)

the sleep walker

Sleep walking?

image

I have never been a drinker. No big deal.  Just never developed a taste for the stuff.
Never cared for the smell of the hard stuff, tried some once and burned my gut.

When I was much younger, I discovered I couldn’t even drink much of something I did like. Probably a good thing perhaps.  The problem has always been my gut.  I know that doesn’t read like anything believable, but it’s true.
Remember a long time ago when there was a fad for exotic rum based drinks? Or was that just in California?  Tastes great.  Until it hit the stomach and then the pain was not even describable. I can not explain the why of it.

I remember a day when along with friends we’d get together and buy kegs of Rolling Rock Beer.  Pabst also btw.  But even then, I could only take maybe 6 or 7 at the most. Not kegs, glasses. I’d be sort of sober but not quite, and then the pains would come. Got all the way to the chest too.  No kidding.  Just beer for gosh sake.
So what I’m saying is, I was sober because drinking the smallest amount of anything really hard, cause pain and even affected breathing.
And that all brings me to the latest installment of my existence here in merry olde England.

I discovered red wine.  Late in life I do admit.  Not only that, but this summer I rediscovered beer.  Bud to be exact.  Small bottles too.
I still can not drink the wine full strength or even a lot of it for all the reasons above.
Anyway, I discovered that sleeping pills work much better and faster if taken with wine, and beer will work too.

As mentioned already, I had this accident which was my doing cos I got lazy and didn’t want to bother going for a ladder or step stool.  It was not a very large or even a very heavy box I was reaching for and so though, this’ll be easy.  Well it wasn’t.

When the pains started, even the aspirin / codeine combo (500 mg aspirin/10mg codeine) just had no effect at all.  And the pain was even waking me up.

Out of desperation, I raided my wife’s meds and took her stronger pain killer.
Something called Tepentadol, 100mg.  Fortunately, I didn’t have to take too many for too long to cope, and as the days went by the aspirin/codeine combo started to help.

But one early morning …. after an earlier entire day and evening of head and neck pain, that night I took my usual sleeping pill, added two Tepentadol (200mg) two glasses of wine, some popcorn to watch a movie in bed and, a beer.  Which was later followed by a second beer.  Then off to dreamland and I don’t even recall what movie I thought I was watching. I even may have imagined I was watching a movie.  Which is one hell of a trick cos there isn’t any TV in my bedroom.  But I can promise you I had no pain.  Except ….

Where things get interesting and go bump in the night.

I’m usually up way earlier than the wife, driven more by hunger I think than wakefulness.  Once up that’s it.  So every morning when she gets up, I bring her morning tea.  Often I also bring her breakfast but generally she just wants toast or a biscuit of some kind.  Sometimes she like that horrid Marmite stuff but usually it’s marmalade.  Oh yeah, something else called Welsh Cakes, which are small, thin and round cake like things. Look more like soft cookies.

So into the kitchen I went one morning last week, had the darndist hard time trying to cut that stupid and stubborn cake in half so I could put an egg in it thinking I was cutting an English muffin, which over here are now sold as muffins since they really are not English to begin with.  Never mind. I thought I was cutting a muffin in half when in reality what I had on that plate was a Welsh cake.  You do not cut a Welsh cake in half. They are too thin to begin with and crumble.  And so they did. I destroyed two of them before I realized I was not cutting a muffin.
So …. with tea and her one lonely remaining Welsh cake, I woke her up with apologies for the cake, asking her how in the world she ever expected me to get an egg inside that tiny thing.  Bleary eyed she asked me what time it was.
I turned around to look at the clock …..

It was three in the morning.

And btw … head beginning to hurt now …. time for the aspirin/codeine again.
But no wine and no beer.

If you have ‘nothing to hide’, here’s where to send your passwords

Our privacy, or lack thereof, is important to most of us.  What we publicly post here on BMEWS we voluntarily make public and available to anyone.  The rest of our lives is where the question gets interesting.

Whether you’re a Democrat still angry over the excesses of the last Bush admin, or a Republican screaming bloody murder at Obama’s illegal activities, actually makes little difference.  If you’re ok with how the current administration handles your private life, don’t worry, there will be another administration that will abuse your information and you.

Are you sure you’re paranoid enough?

ZDNet is a fairly authoritative source for all things computer related.  Whether you agree with the author of this article or not, it’s something to think about.

“Over the last 16 months, as I’ve debated this issue around the world, every single time somebody has said to me, ‘I don’t really worry about invasions of privacy because I don’t have anything to hide,’ I always say the same thing to them.

I get out a pen. I write down my email address. I say, ‘Here’s my email address. What I want you to do when you get home is email me the passwords to all of your email accounts, not just the nice, respectable work one in your name, but all of them, because I want to be able to just troll through what it is you’re doing online, read what I want to read and publish whatever I find interesting. After all, if you’re not a bad person, if you’re doing nothing wrong, you should have nothing to hide.’

Not a single person has taken me up on that offer. I check that email account religiously all the time. It’s a very desolate place.”

Here’s the main article:

If you have ‘nothing to hide’, here’s where to send your passwords

national coming out day and we all missed it. who knew? and what a coincidence this happened Sat.

A year or two ago you may recall a story about an older couple who ran a B&B and refused to give rooms to unmarried couples. In that case the couple were of the odd variety and so not surprisingly they made a federal case of it. Stonewall involved. Of course they were.  Water under the news bridge now. The couple subject to all sorts of the abuse you’d expect of scum and a fine and near financial ruin plus, the old boy was also sick (heart) in hosp.
It wasn’t rocket science to work out that the Christian couple were stitched up from the get go.

Well, we all missed the great event. I had no idea it was even an event or a special day.
But it was.  Saturday was Natl. Coming Out Day.  Isn’t that cute?  They have their own flag.  A special colour.  (purple?) and now I learn they have a special day too.  Soon they’ll be pushing to make it another bank holiday to honor them.
Anyway, what happened this time was .....

Sainsbury’s told lesbian couple to stop kissing or leave supermarket after customer complained

Annabelle Sacher said she and girlfriend were told to leave store in Brighton
Claims that she lightly kissed her girlfriend on the cheek while shopping
Security guard said a customer had complained that they were ‘disgusting’
Sainsbury’s has now apologised and donated to charity of couple’s choice

By Neil Sears and Emily Kent Smith

Student Annabelle Sacher was shopping in her local Sainsbury’s when she decided to give her girlfriend a spontaneous peck on the cheek.

One fellow customer, however, didn’t see the ‘light kiss’ as a romantic gesture – and reported the couple to a security guard who allegedly then told them to leave.

The female guard explained that the shopper had complained that the lesbian clinch was ‘disgusting’, and that she was ‘worried for her child’.

Infuriated, the 22-year-old reported the incident to fellow gay rights activists online, declaring that Sainsbury’s was guilty of perpetrating a hate crime and that she had a ‘human right’ to kiss in the supermarket.

The row began on Saturday – which was National Coming Out Day – in a Sainsbury’s in Brighton, a town known for its vibrant gay scene.

In a post on gay rights charity Stonewall’s Facebook page, Miss Sacher said: ‘The security guard later apologised, saying that she herself was gay and had simply been asked to speak to us by another customer who found us “disgusting” and was “worried for her child”.

‘I felt sorry for the guard. However, the fact is that she perpetrated a hate crime on behalf of Sainsbury’s.

‘My partner and myself should not have been made to feel humiliated simply because we were two women. It is our legal and human right to express ourselves and today Sainsbury’s took that right away and made me feel like a lesser human being.’

The English literature student at Sussex University in Brighton added: ‘I am outraged and deeply humiliated by this incident.’

Last night a Sainsbury’s spokesman said that it had made a full apology, promised similar incidents would not happen again and said it had paid money to a charity of Miss Sacher’s choice.

The spokesman denied the security guard had told Miss Sacher to leave, and instead asked her to stop kissing, but apologised for her treatment all the same.

‘This should never have happened – it is clear that she and her partner were not behaving inappropriately and we are very sorry that they were treated in this way,’ the spokesman said.

‘We have called her to apologise and will be making a donation to a charity of her choice.’

Miss Sacher, who is originally from Hampstead Garden Suburb, north London – where she was brought up by her leading lawyer father Jonathan, 59, and estate agent mother Marla, 55, in a £3million house – said she was delighted with the response. She has since made the supermarket one of her ‘favourites’ on Facebook.

SOURCE

Gee, I wonder what charity (?) she had monies donated to. Hmmm. Tuff one.

back, somewhat

Here again but soon gone again; packing up to go do a half day window job, then I have to get the old buggy down to the shop. Looks like the exhaust system broke again. Old cars, or else lousy mechanics. Could’ve sworn I just got the exhaust fixed 3 or 4 months ago. Again.

human interest ….

I’m not one for kiddie pix.  Too often I notice cringe worthy toe curling articles about something Jr. has done when Jr. has no idea himself.
But papers often like to publish cute but meaningless kiddie shots. So generally, I don’t follow kid stories for the sake of cute kids.
That said, once in awhile something does grab my short attention span, and this is one of them.

Iris Grace Halmshaw, five, created a buzz in the art world at three years old

A private collector bought two of her original works for £1,500 each
Autistic youngster struggled to speak as other children unnerved her
But her pet cat Thula has relieved her isolation and they are inseparable
Her parents noticed Iris adding brush strokes which resemble a cat’s eyes

For Iris Grace Halmshaw, the world was a lonely place.

The autistic five-year-old struggles to speak, is unnerved by other children and is frequently thrown into panic by the world around her.

She fills her days with painting, and is so talented that her works sell for as much as £1,500.

But nothing could quite relieve her isolation. Until, that is, a cat called Thula came along.

The pair are now inseparable – and Iris’s parents credit the gentle Maine Coon with helping their little girl become more tactile and affectionate, as well as influencing her already much-acclaimed works of art.

The home-educated youngster has been producing astonishing Monet-style landscapes since she was three, when mother Arabella Carter-Johnson devised art sessions to help her with her daughter’s concentration and speech.

CONTINUES

There are some nice photos here and a video.
I don’t think the video needs any music, or if it does, surely not the soppy, boring dirge played here. The link is still worth seeing.

A Contrast to Jefferson

Then we have our Islamist in Chief.

The U.S. Army has completed their investigation of the Bowe Bergdahl case.  It would be nice to get the official version - right?

Not if it’s politically inconvenient for our President.  The report is being kept under wraps until after the election.  Gotta help the Dhimmicrats, right?

Here is the report from Atlas Shrugs:

Army Refuses to Release Findings of Bergdahl/Taliban Report Until After Midterm Elections

...and the report from Breitbart.

Army Refuses to Release Findings of Bergdahl Investigation

Let’s see how long it takes before the MSM picks up the story and how they tell it.

Don’t hold your breath.
