End of a TV Era

Myth: MythBusters TV Show Will Sink Like A Stone Without Kari Byron

image

Grant Imahara, Kari Byron and Tory Belleci all off the show

Here’s something we wish was just a myth. Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara of the hit Discovery Channel series “MythBusters” will not be returning for a 2015 season. Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman made the heartbreaking announcement at the end of their episode on Thursday, Aug. 21, to confirm that the trio is leaving the science entertainment program.
...
Byron’s reaction ...
“I guess you guys are finding out the news right about now. After a decade of the MythBusters, we are no longer with the show,” she said in a slew of tweets. “Thank you to all the fans who have supported us. The show is taking a new direction. It was an amazing run. I learned so much about myself and the world. I love you all @MythBusters. I am sad for an ending, but there will be exciting new adventures for us.”

I give them one season. Nothing like jumping the shark on purpose to mess up a perfectly successful formula. And the most lovable and adorable redhead babe on television.

another ban from those jerks in brussels who stole our light bulbs. look what they want this time

A headline that greeted us this morning said;

Buy a powerful vacuum cleaner now … before Brussels banishes them.

Dumb and dumber just got stupider.

Starting next month begins the first stage of a ban on powerful vacs.
Another stupid lefty idea to save the planet.

You could not make this up. Only the idiots who think the sky is falling.

Take a look.

We don’t call em euro-weenies for nothing.

From The Mirror

New EU rules have slashed the power of vacuum cleaners in a bid to save energy so from next month new vacuums with motors above 1,600 watts will be outlawed

Brussels bureaucrats are banning the best vacuum cleaners on sale in Britain, it was revealed today.
New EU rules have slashed the power of vacuum cleaners in a bid to save energy. It means that from next month new vacuums with motors above 1,600 watts will be outlawed.

However, some of the top rated cleaners will fall foul of the new rules because their power rating is above 2,000 watts.
Consumer watchdog group Which? has warned consumers to “act quickly” if they want to buy a more powerful model.

The European Commission claims its new rules, which are intended to help tackle climate change by cutting Europe’s energy usage, will mean consumers “get better vacuum cleaners than ever before”.
However, Which? said of seven “best buy” ratings awarded by its vacuum cleaner reviewers since January 2013, five of them have motors of more than 1,600 watts.
It said: “If you’re in the market for a powerful vacuum, you should act quickly, before all of the models currently available sell out.
“A Best Buy 2,200w vac costs around £27 a year to run in electricity - only around £8 more than the best-scoring 1,600w we’ve tested.”

( WHICH?  is the Brit version of Consumer Reports )

One vacuum cleaner facing a ban is the Miele s8330 model, which has a 2,200 watt motor and advertises its “best buy” credentials on its manufacturer’s website.
The EU has already banned power hungry plasma TVs and traditional light bulbs, which prompted a rush by consumers stocking up on them before they became obsolete.

Consumers have moaned that energy-efficient replacements bulbs were more expensive and took too long to warm up.
The average power of a vacuum cleaner on sale in Europe is 1,800 watts. This will have to be halved within the next three years, as the limit of 1,600 watts will be reduced to just 900 watts from September 2017.

But Brussels has denied that its latest rules on vacuums, which come into force on September 1, will affect consumers’ ability to clean their homes properly.

European Commission spokesman Marlene Holzner said: “As a result of the new EU ecodesign and labelling regulations, consumers will also get better vacuum cleaners. In the past there was no legislation on vacuum cleaners and companies could sell poorly performing vacuum cleaners.

“Now, vacuum cleaners that use a lot of energy, that pick up dust poorly, emit too much dust at the exhaust of the vacuum cleaner, are noisy or break down prematurely will not be allowed on the market anymore.

“This means a better cleaning experience and less time and money spent on vacuum cleaning.”

Consumers warned to “act quickly” before top-rated powerful vacuum cleaners sell out forever

Many of the best vacuum cleaners for sale in the UK will be banned as a result of new EU energy efficiency rules that come into force next month, consumer group Which? has warned.

Households wanting to buy a powerful model have been told they will need to “act quickly” before they sell out, as from September 1 companies will be prohibited from manufacturing or importing any vacuums with motors above 1,600 watts.

The European Commission claims that its new rules, which are intended to help tackle climate change by cutting Europe’s energy usage, will mean consumers “get better vacuum cleaners than ever before”.

here comes another fatwa

Teaser for a film coming September 24. Guaranteed to piss of the muzzies. Unfortunately, probably also guaranteed to be given credence by nobody other than those that are already aware that the infinite islamic diaspora into Europe is a bad thing. Kind of like Geert Wilders’ Fitna from 2010.

US Secretary of Defense: “Islamic State threat ‘beyond anything we’ve seen’”

The sophistication, wealth and military might of Islamic State militants represent a major threat to the United States that may surpass that once posed by al Qaeda, U.S. military leaders said on Thursday.

“They are an imminent threat to every interest we have, whether it’s in Iraq or anywhere else,” Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel told reporters at the Pentagon.

Hagel’s assessment of Islamic State, which gained strength during Syria’s civil war and swept into northern Iraq earlier this summer, sounded a note of alarm several days after the group posted a video on social media showing one of its fighters beheading an American hostage kidnapped in Syria.

Asked if the hardline Sunni Muslim organization posed a threat to the United States comparable to that of the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Hagel said it was “as sophisticated and well-funded as any group we have seen.”

“They are beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology, a sophistication of ... military prowess. They are tremendously well-funded. This is beyond anything we’ve seen.”

Hagel spoke as the United States continued attacking Islamic State targets in Iraq. In the past two weeks, U.S. drones and fighter jets have conducted 89 airstrikes against militant targets in northern Iraq.

So far, President Barack Obama has sought to limit his renewed military campaign in Iraq to protecting American diplomats and civilians under direct threat. Obama ended the war in Iraq that killed thousands of American soldiers and consumed U.S. foreign policy for nearly a decade

Time for all to condemn Islamic State for their violence

[ via Malaysian Insider ] Thus far, only two global Muslim leaders have come out to condemn the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (Isis) – or Islamic State (IS), as they call themselves now – for their violence and large-scale slaughter in both the Middle East countries.

Former Malaysian prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Dr Mahathir condemned the group four days ago, saying it has misinterpreted Islam which is a religion of peace.

“There is no place for violence in Islam. Islam is a religion of peace and some people have wrongly interpreted the religion,” Dr Mahathir told reporters after a youth forum in Putrajaya.

Yudhoyono today called the actions of IS militants “embarrassing” to the religion and urged Islamic leaders to unite in tackling extremism.

“It is shocking. It is becoming out of control,” he said in an interview with The Australian, a day after IS released a video showing a masked militant beheading US reporter James Foley, provoking worldwide revulsion.

“This is a new wake-up call to international leaders all over the world, including Islamic leaders,” he said, adding that the actions of IS were not only “embarrassing” to Islam but “humiliating”, the newspaper reported.

But other leaders, particularly Muslim leaders in Malaysia, have been quiet. Not a peep, not a word about a group that has killed more people, including Muslims, in the past year than any other group or even Israel in Gaza.

Yes, Israel must be condemned for its disproportionate use of force and violence in Gaza against Hamas. There is no defense for the occupying force that has killed more than 2,000 in this round of violence.

But the silence over IS is deafening.

I Canna Has Flowaz

Hooray, the first bloom stalk on the Canna has begun to open. There’s another one growing that’s about 10 days behind.

It’s a nice plant, and I’m glad it’s growing ... but it does sort of stand out in the my little side garden ...

I really like the color. It’s close to a proper CARMINE I think. Cardinal red with a splash of orange and a taste of yellow. Nice. Very bright.

And The End Approaches, Now Even Faster

ISIS Earns >$1 Million Per Day

Selling Crude Oil At A Discount Under The Table

Bloody marvelous.  And it’s been going on for months now.

Islamic State’s thirst for blood has the world on edge, but its equally insatiable yearning for oil could prove a “catastrophe” for the global economy if the terror organization isn’t stopped, experts say.

The jihadist group, formerly known as ISIS, now controls seven oil fields and two small refineries in northern Iraq, bringing in as much as $2 million per day by selling up to 40,000 barrels via middlemen in illicit deals. The black market oil sells for roughly $25 to $60 per barrel, compared to the current market rate of $102, according to Luay al-Khatteeb, founder and executive director of the Iraq Energy Institute. And while this is a veritable drop in the global bucket of oil production, the crude spigot will continue translating into terror funds for Islamic State militants if unchecked, al-Khatteeb and other experts told FoxNews.com.

“Unless we choke this organization’s revenues, and the areas it’s able to access revenues, it’s going to keep growing,” said Denise Natali, a senior research fellow for the Institute for National Strategic Studies. “The Iraqi government has announced it now, but this has been going on for months.”

A source close to the matter told London-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat that Islamic State is selling Iraqi oil to Kurdish traders in regions bordering Iraq, Iran and Syria before being shipped to Pakistan, where it’s being sold for less than half of market rates.

While production within those oil fields is globally insignificant, it does directly power the extremist group, offering the militants a degree of fiscal autonomy, according to al-Khatteeb.

“They’ve become very much self-sufficient,” he told FoxNews.com. “They control about 60 percent of Syria’s producing fields in its oil-rich eastern region. In Iraq, they control about seven oil-producing fields and two small refineries with a potential output of 80,000 barrels. And the black market is expanding into Turkey, which is becoming the main beneficiary of that market.”

Wait, so the very same Kurds that ISIS is busy shooting and beheading are the people buying up the illicit oil? Or are these Turkish Kurds, who - in a gesture of complete tribal solidarity - couldn’t give a rat’s ass about what happens to Iraqi Kurds on the other side of the mountain? But hey, all the oil - and the money - stays within the islamic world, so no harm, no foul. Right?

Funny thing ... back before Gulf War One, the hippie-dippy left was running around protesting “No blood for oil” when it came time to free Kuwait from occupation and enslavement. What will they say now, or next month, when the West will have to go in and destroy ISIS one goat humper at a time, and take back those oil fields in the process? Because if they don’t, the world will have an ever increasing, insane, psychopathic murder machine on it’s hands, funding themselves to the tune of half a billion or more per year.

Kind of makes me wonder ... do the muzzies really want to stop ISIS? Or is that just lip service to keep the stupid West sending in more aid, more supplies, and more weaponry. And they just sit back and let somebody else do the dirty jihad work for awhile. If the Caliphate wins, they win. (assuming that ISIS stops killing the locals and starts focusing on the West, as they seem to be starting to do?)

What if the entire civilized world went on a crash course to convert to natural gas, and from then on in only used petroleum to make plastics and synthetic rubber?

“Haha Infidels, the Caliphate controls all the oil in the Middle East! You will pay dearly now!!”
“Um, no thanks, sorry, we don’t want any of that stuff any more.”

Because I’m pretty sure there isn’t a single LNG plant anywhere over there. Not one. And the US, Canada, and the Soviet re-Union have oceans of the stuff. Maybe Brazil and Venezuela do too?

the right to protest somehow turns out to be the right to deny you shopping unhindered

This isn’t the only business to be picketed by these meatheads.  And they are everywhere. Like insects.

Another supermarket targeted and closed for four hours over fear of crowd demanding “justice for palestine” by idiots who don’t seem to realize that most if not all the products come from places other than Israel. Poland for example.
Another source is Egypt for typical Jewish item called Matzoh. Crowd of fools would not be interested in the facts anyway as their agenda for the most part I think, is a desire to belong to a movement of almost any sort, where they can wave placards and shout slogans and look really cool. To themselves. That doesn’t hold true for all of them course.  The rest are also idiots and most likely have a score with not simply Israel, but Jews anywhere.  However, afraid of being arrested by the police who are ruled as all here are, by a slavish devotion to political correctness, they can vent against Israel as a blind in place of …. JEW!

This is from The Birmingham Mail.  Interesting they way adults use the kiddie too young to know what anything is about. Stick a placard in a young hand and tell em what to do.  Not long before they’re told what to think.  Be sure and see all the photos.

This was really a (mostly) happy pleasant land once.  That ended with the first muzzie allowed to live here. Of course, as shown here, they also have their enablers.

Btw ....  someplace in London has actually had leaflets being handed to various ppl encouraging them to join ISIS and go to Iraq and fight.
Interesting times indeed.

Take a look at this.

Birmingham MP Shabana Mahmood hauled in by Labour bosses after this video of Sainsbury’s Gaza protest

By Jonathan Walker

image

A Birmingham Labour MP who took part in a pro-Gaza demonstration which forced a city centre supermarket to close has been hauled in for talks with the party leadership.

image

she posted a video to her YouTube account, filmed as the demonstration took place, boasting that the store had been forced to shut and lose business because it sold goods from Israeli settlements.

She said in the film: “We’re calling on Sainsbury’s and all other stores that trade settlement goods that they stop doing so.”

Labour has now issued a statement saying that Ms Mahmood, a Shadow Treasury Minister, does not support a boycott. Instead, she supports “proper labelling of goods”, the party said.

In the film, Ms Mahmood appears to be calling for a boycott of goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank, an area of land effectively under Israeli control but which should be part of an independent Palestinian state, according to United Nations resolutions. She does not call for a boycott of goods made in Israel itself.

Speaking at the Birmingham protest, Ms Mahmood said: “A peaceful protest outside of a Sainsbury’s store in central Birmingham.

“It’s half past three and the store has actually just shut as a result of the peaceful protest, that’s about four and a half hours worth of business that Sainsbury’s is losing for supporting goods from the Israeli settlements which are illegal under international law.

“So we’re calling on Sainsbury’s and all other stores that trade settlement goods that they stop doing so, that they do not support people who have broken international law.

“There’s been a huge response today just here in central Birmingham, incredible to see, and the passion here of all of the people campaigning is incredible to see.”

In another film on her YouTube account, taken outside the BBC headquarters in London on August 9, she calls for “a two state solution”, which would mean Israel and Palestine both existing as independent states in line with United Nations resolutions.

A Labour Party spokesperson said: “Ed Miliband has been clear that Labour does not support boycotts of Israel and we resolutely oppose the isolation of Israel.

“Labour remains committed to a comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, international law and a secure Israel alongside a secure and viable state of Palestine.

“Having spoken to her, Shabana has made clear that she does not support calls for a boycott of Israel but supports the proper labelling of goods from the region as per the DEFRA guidelines.”

image

I guess she now receives a get out of jail card.

Peaceful protest. Sure.  As long as no customers even try to get into the store.  Judging by the photos at the link, they have a protest right, but you don’t have a right to shop unhindered by vermin laying in isles blocking your path.

see the photos/birmingham mail

What We Got Here, Is A Failure To Assimilate

couldn’t resist paraphrasing that famous movie quote

Twice As Many British Muslims

Fight For ISIS

As Fight For The British Army

Might want to check your immigration policy there, UK. Or perhaps your religious freedoms, since you do actually have a national religion and all.

Americans were made acutely aware of the threat posed by Western jihadist fighters joining the ranks of ISIS in Syria and Iraq when a man with a London accent beheaded James Wright Foley as part of a taped ultimatum to President Barack Obama.

Inexplicably, President Barack Obama chose not to even abstractly address the nature of that threat, even though he plans to personally chair a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on precisely this subject next month.

A July intelligence estimate suggested that up to 3,000 ISIS militants were of European origin and 1,500 of those are young British Muslims, according to Birmingham MP Perry Barr. Framing the problem of Europe’s failure to assimilate its Muslim minorities perfectly, a new report indicates that there are more British Muslims fighting with Islamist militants in the Middle East than there are in the British armed forces.

* According to the Ministry of Defense, there are only around 600 British Muslims currently serving in the Armed Forces, making up approximately around 0.4% of total personnel. 4.3% of the British population are Muslim.

* The UK Foreign Office said that they believe over 400 individuals have travelled to Syria since the uprising began, but said that they could not give exact numbers.

* In August, 2013, two homegrown disaffected British Muslim men took to the streets of London where they beheaded a U.K. solider.

OTOH, most Americans probably haven’t seen the video, as such things are kept hidden from us Big Tough Brave Americans. We can’t handle real death or violence, or even dead bodies, certainly not bloody murder, although our TV entertainment is filled with pretend versions of all, ad nauseam. So it’s a good bet we didn’t hear the voice-over either.

Plus, we wouldn’t know a London accent from a Cornish one. Heck, we can’t tell Liverpool from Dublin from Edinburgh from Sydney from Christchurch. Seriously. We’ve got a little cartoon lizard on TV that sells us car insurance and he talks like you blokes. The insurance company runs ads showing people debating what kind of accent the lizard has, and where he’s from. Well, that’s when they’re not also running ads having a smart-ass talking pig sell us more insurance. Look on the bright side; at least they got rid of the cavemen adverts.

OTGH*, most of us are aware that our military has had several deadly problems with muslims in their ranks, from grenades thrown into tents to “workplace violence”. And we’re effin’ sick of it, and ready to puke at the PC idiocy that keeps them there. Purge the bastards, period. And then tell the courts to pound salt.

But I’m sure this news is not news at all to those of us here who have been paying attention to ISIS longer than since this Spring. I am fully expecting some Americans to show up in their ranks and in their videos soon, and I expect ISIS themselves to appear in inner city Detroit. Or perhaps ISIS X. Because Black people really are that gullible. And then Obama and Holder win.

* I already did an OTOH, so the only thing left is the 3rd hand, the gripping hand. OTGH. Go read your sci-fi, moties.

And So The Mill Churns

Does it now grind out truth, or just more rumor?

UPDATE: Now he doesn’t! “No torn eye socket” according to CNN here. But he did have a swollen face. And around we go again.

You did see yesterday’s report that officer Wilson had an orbital floor fracture, right? That means something hit him so hard it broke his face bones below his eye. Not that we were shown his bruised up picture or his X-ray.

Proceed with caution, but follow this link.

Icicles For Peiper?

Cold Snap Hits South Central England

Temperatures between 6°C and 18°C, with just one afternoon high of 22°C for the next 10 days or more. With plenty of wet just to add to the fun.

That’s 42°F to 64°F, with a single peak of 72°F for us Yanks.

Not exactly a blistering heatwave for the end of August.

Better bundle up in your heavy weight hoody, old chum.

Obama Gets Tough

“The Entire World Is Appalled”

Obama speaks out after ISIS beheading of US journalist Mike Foley, vows to take action. Then he goes back to playing golf.

President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the U.S. won’t back down from ISIS, the militant terror group that released a video Tuesday showing one of its militants beheading an American photojournalist.

‘Today, the entire world is appalled by the brutal murder of Jim Foley by the terrorist group, ISIL,’ said Obama, calling the group by the White House’s preferred name.’

‘No just God would stand for what they did yesterday and ... every single day,’ he said.

‘ISIL speaks for no religion,’ he said, aiming his words at the Islamist faction that claims to have established a Muslim caliphate in portions of Syria and Iraq. ‘Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents.’

Well, right, true, except for that muslim religion that teaches their people to massacre innocents who won’t convert or pay the jizya tax. But why let facts get in the way?

As with his last public statements, Obama followed a brief speech with a round of golf, according to a White House pool report.

Obama delivered a statement from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, during his vacation on Wednesday. His remarks come after ‘Islamic State’ insurgents released a video showing the beheading of U.S. journalist James Foley, who had gone missing in Syria nearly two years ago

Americans ‘are all heartbroken at their loss and join them in honoring Jim,’ he said, somber but not wearing a necktie, as has been his practice during his extended family holiday.

Foley stood ‘in stark contrast’ to his captors and executioners, he said, blaming them for a series of ‘cowardly acts of violence.’

‘One thing we can all agree on is a group like ISIL has no place in the 21st century,’ a defiant Obama said.

The president said the terror group has tortured and killed ethnic and religious minorities in Iraq, including women and children.

‘They have rampaged across cities and villages, killing innocent civilians,’ he said.

‘They have murdered Muslims, both Sunni and Shia, by the thousands. They target Christians and religious minorities, driving them from their homes, murdering them when they can, for no other reason than that they practice another religion.’

He seemed to double down on the threat of airstrikes, even though Foley’s executioner claimed another journalist will die if they continue.

‘There has to be a common effort to expel this cancer so it does not spread,’ Obama said.

America’s military has carried out nearly a dozen new airstrikes in Iraq since Tuesday, with the attacks coming after the terror group’s appalling video release.

Foley’s executioner addressed President Barack Obama personally in the video, warning that his group would kill Steven Sotloff – another American journalist the group is holding – if the U.S. didn’t stop a campaign of targeted attacks that Obama green-lighted on August 8.

Other reports are saying that the minimal nature of US airstrikes so far has caused ISIS to adopt a tactical change; no longer are they traveling in convoys like an actual military, but in small groups, herding local residents or foreigners ahead of them as human shields.  So perhaps Big O’s strategy of little hits wasn’t the smartest move to open with; a few alpha strikes rich with carpet bombing would have done major damage to ISIS at the time. Too late for that now.

In typical British newspaper fashion, there is a huge amount of further detail and loads of photographs at the link above.

PS - the knife wielding insane ISIS beheader ... is probably a British citizen.

‘It’s increasingly likely he is British’: Cameron admits ISIS butcher who beheaded a US journalist is probably from the UK as race begins to identify hooded executioner
David Cameron has condemned the on-screen beheading of American journalist James Foley as ‘murder without justification’ - adding it is ‘increasingly likely’ that a British jihadist carried out the murder.

The Prime Minister, who broke off his holiday amid the escalating crisis, said the killing of the kidnapped American reporter was ‘brutal and barbaric’ - but he insisted the act would not change the Government’s approach to tackling the group in Iraq and Syria.

‘Let me condemn the barbaric and brutal act that has taken place and let’s be clear what this act is - it is an act of murder, and murder without any justification,’ Mr Cameron said from Downing Street.

Mr Cameron’s remarks came amid claims the jihadist who beheaded Mr Foley is the leader of a group of British fighters holding foreign hostages in Syria - and are known to their captors as ‘The Beatles’.

The English-speaking militant was identified to the Guardian newspaper by one of his former hostages. He is understood to be one of the main guards of foreign nationals in Raqqa, a stronghold of Islamic State rebels in Syria.

The militant, who appeared on the Foley video, allegedly called himself John and is believed to be from London.

Dead flat economy, shrinking employment base, rampant inflation on the price of food, half the country on the dole. To say nothing of the world going to Helena Handbasket due to America’s inane and juvenile foreign policy. Wow, that’s change you can believe in, yes sir!

cheer up america.  help is on the way for you and ferguson

Caught in the paper this a.m.

The American branch of a rights organization with home in Europe, is on the way.

As Drew already mentioned, amnasty intl. is going there to “observe police and protester activity.” Isn’t that sweet of the turds?
Like it’s their business.
They are also reported to be going there to ...  “train local activists” in non violent methods.

I don’t think the majority of the sort of animals I have seen pictured, would be much interested in the non violent part.
After all .... what the hell good is a protest and demonstrations unless you can enjoy yourself.  Yeah. Burn and loot and vandalize places. Maybe get to beat up on someone. Hey ... maybe one of em will shoot one of the amnasty creeps.  Ohboyohboyohboy. Ah-hope-ah hope ah-hope. (with apologies to Disney, taking that last way outta context)

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
