The ObamaCone

TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU’VE EVER BEEN,
YET THE YOUNGEST YOU’LL EVER BE,
SO ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.

HAVE SOME ICE CREAM !

image

Step right up, you’re first in line! Special just for you: you’re first in line! Always!

In honor of the 44th President of the United States , Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream has introduced a new flavor: Barocky Road

Barocky Road is a blend of half vanilla, half chocolate, and surrounded by nuts and flakes. The vanilla portion of the mix is not openly advertised and usually denied as an ingredient. The nuts and flakes are all plentiful.

The cost is $92.84 per scoop...so, out of a $100 bill, you are at least promised some CHANGE.

When purchased, it will be presented to you in a large beautiful cone, but after you pay for it, the ice cream is taken out of the cone and given to the person in line behind you at no charge.

You are left with an almost-empty wallet, staring at an empty cone and wondering what just happened. Then you realize this is what “redistribution of wealth” is all about.

Aren’t you just stimulated?

No?  Well, guess what they’re going to do with that cold empty cone the moment you turn around?

Paying The Bills

FINAL UPDATE: PLEASE, NO MORE MONEY THIS YEAR

THAT’S HOW GENEROUS BMEWS READERS HAVE BEEN. The Blegging is over; expenses are fully covered. FULLY. You guys are bloody fantastic.

If you still want to toss a quarter in the tip jar, that will be set aside for next year. And I do keep a pretty careful accounting of funds and expenses, just in case some snoopy tax dude thinks this is some kind of job. It isn’t. I don’t clear a dime on this blog. In the very, very rare case where I have too many donations one year, I roll them forward and sometimes even delay asking for help until I need it. So we’re good for 2014. 100% great in fact.

Golly, I’m nearly feeling woozy. It’s either the generosity of my readership, or the acetone I used to do a final wipe on the windshield. I go with the generosity and let Sally say it for me ...

image

UPDATED UPDATE: The outpouring of support from the BMEWS readership has simply been tremendous. I am overwhelmed. Surprised. Amazed. Impressed. Verklempt, even! We’ve had more people Give A Click this year than ever before. I guess we’re doing something right after all.

I’m going to float this post at the top for today into tomorrow, then let it sink downwards. I don’t want to harass or bleg too much, but I do want to keep up a big running THANK YOU to those who have, and the tiniest reminder to those who might.  And come Monday, I’ll shut up about this for a full year.

Ok, I have to go try and clean my windshield today. I’ve got my Sunday job to do, cleaning offices, so I’d better be able to see to drive there. Maybe I’ll take photos and compare 3 or 4 solvents at a time.

UPDATE: One HUGE round of applause for them what put in a contribution. We are humbled, and most unctuously grateful. A little help, a lot of help, any help at all, it all helps a lot. Thank you so very much!

image

It’s the time of year once again when all the bits and pieces that make up BMEWS show up at my door, looking for money.

Server fees, domain registrations, a couple of widgets. That sort of thing. Actually, BMEWS is going to cost a bit less to run this coming year, since the lovely widget we had for mapping out folks online is gone. That company went under, and they shut down and vamoosed months ago. And still owing me at least half a year of service too.

Meh. What can you do?

So this hobby blog costs just under 80¢ per day. A bit steep, but I’ve got unlimited storage capacity and unlimited bandwidth. Which is probably a bit excessive, but I’ll never run up against a wall.

In the meantime, I’m trying to cut whatever expenses here that I can. And give thanks once again for all my readers who have helped out in the past.

Animal Put Back In Cage

Brooklyn Ripper Caught

Stabbed 3, Killing 2, After Only 9 Days Out Of Jail

image

The twisted butcher accused of stabbing two children in an elevator, leaving one dead, was arrested Wednesday after police tracked him down by using DNA evidence and pinging his cell phone, sources said.

Daniel St. Hubert, 27 — a convicted felon who was released from prison nine days before the callous East New York attack — was busted blocks away from his family’s home in Jamaica, Queens, according to law-enforcement sources.

Police believe St. Hubert killed Prince Joshua “P.J.” Avitto, 6, and severely wounded Mikayla Capers, 7, with a kitchen knife at the Boulevard Houses on Schenck Avenue.

He was identified by the NYPD thanks to DNA taken from the 8- inch knife used in the attack on Avitto and Capers, reports NBC New York. The DNA was in the NYPD’s criminal database. According to authorities, he as nine prior arrests. He was last paroled on May 23 on assault charges after serving seven years in prison, according to the New York Post. NBC New York reports that among his other arrests, he has convictions for assaulting a cop and a corrections officer.
...
St. Hubert has a history of violent assault, with nine arrests on his criminal record, including two for assaulting police and correction officers, and he was paroled on May 23 in a domestic-assault case, police said. He was sentenced to time behind bars after convictions for attempted murder and assault, serving three years in city jails and two years in an upstate prison, state correction records show.
...
The two victims on June 1 were playing in front of their building when they went back inside to get ice-cream. It’s then that they met their attacker in the elevator at around 5:50 p.m. CBS New York reports that [after having been stabbed 16 times] Mikayla remains in critical condition in hospital with a breathing tube. Her family have told the media that she is in-and-out of consciousness.

Cops caught the suspected killer at 8 p.m., shortly after Mayor de Blasio attended a press conference to release his photo and begin a citywide manhunt.

St. Hubert was carrying a knife on him when he was found walking near 145 Street and 133 Avenue in Jamaica, sources said.

Police said they were investigating whether St. Hubert also may have fatally stabbed 18-year-old Tanaya Copeland on Friday four blocks from where Sunday’s attack happened. A similar knife was recovered at the scene of Copeland’s slaying.
...
Cops suspect that the same madman who slaughtered a boy in a Brooklyn elevator also killed an 18-year-old woman — and the NYPD warned parents to keep a close eye on their children.

The attack [on the two children] came two days after aspiring nurse Tanaya Grant-Copeland was stabbed 32 times on a nearby street.

Police officials cited similarities in the knives recovered and in the dress of the attacker, as well as the assaults’ proximity.

Indentured servitude ordered by unelected gov’t ‘officials’.

Baker forced to make gay wedding cakes, undergo sensitivity training, after losing lawsuit

A family owned bakery has been ordered to make wedding cakes for gay couples and guarantee that its staff be given comprehensive training on Colorado’s anti-discrimination laws after the state’s Civil Rights Commission determined the Christian baker violated the law by refusing to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple.

Jack Phillips, the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, in Lakewood, Colorado was directed to change his store policies immediately and force his staff to attend the training sessions. For the next two years, Phillips will also be required to submit quarterly reports to the commission to confirm that he has not turned away customers based on their sexual orientation.

Sounds like a violation of the 13th Amendment:

Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
Section 2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.[1]

Refusing to bake a cake for homosexuals based on your religious beliefs is NOT a crime:

“We consider this reporting to be aimed at rehabilitating Jack so that he has the right thoughts,” Martin said. “That’s offensive to everything America stands for.”

Phillips, who is celebrating his 40th year in business this week, told me he’s not going to create any new policies.

“My old ones are pretty adequate as far as I’m concerned,” he said. “I don’t plan on giving up my faith and changing because of that.”

The controversy started in 2012 when a gay couple asked Phillips to make their wedding cake. Phillips politely declined, saying he could not make a cake promoting a same-sex ceremony because of his faith. He offered to make them any other baked item they wanted.

Charlie Craig and David Mullins filed a complaint with the Colorado Civil Rights Commission alleging they were discriminated against because of their sexual orientation. For the record, same-sex marriage is against the law in Colorado.

The commission affirmed a civil court’s ruling that the bakery cannot discriminate against persons in a public place based on sexual orientation.

“You can have your beliefs, but you can’t hurt other people at the same time,” Commission Chairwoman Katina Banks told The Denver Channel.

ACLU attorney Amanda Goad, who heads up the organization’s LBGT group, heralded the ruling.

“Religious freedom is undoubtedly an important American value, but so is the right to be treated equally under the law free from discrimination,” she said in a statement.

No, my dear. Religious freedom is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT.

Not only that, but you have the right to decide WHO you will make your artistic, or any skills, available to. Anything else is a violation of the 13th Amendments banning of involuntary servitude.

Not aware that a ‘commission’ is a court either. Never voted for anyone on a ‘commission’.

BTW, we have a RIGHT to discriminate!

trying to do it right

How much bacon goes into a proper bacon butty?

Tried making my own bacon sandwich here, cooked the bacon on the grill of course. Used 4 full slices of Oscar’s thick slice, which I guess is about a quarter pound uncooked. I cooked it crispy. Maybe I should have gone with chewy. Seems to me it needed to have about twice as much bacon. And that was half a package!

image

These look about right, but they’re “merely” BLTs ... a summer treat that’s hard to beat IF you get yourself some locally grown ripe NJ tomatoes. It’s one thing we’re really the best at growing. Beefsteaks, Jersey Giants. Big meaty solid monsters, firm and juicy, warm and happy in the sun with an aroma you can pick up 10 yards away.

Surely, surely a proper British bacon sandwich is better? Maybe I shouldn’t be using what they call “streaky bacon”, which is about all that’s available to us Yanks.

image
The real deal from England. Looks kinda cheap and puny, don’t it?
Heck, I look at this thing, and I hear Clara Peller in my mind going “Where’s the   beef   bacon??”

image

Good old Clara.

it’s cold, it’s windy, it’s been raining and as if that isn’t bad enuff, obama is on a spend spree

Heard something on the news and saw a mention in morning paper with regard to that madman in the white house.

First of all, as Drew already pointed out, he has set some kind of deadline for American industry to save the planet and thus have the euro-weenies love us again. OK .. no need to visit that one again.

Then he agrees to a prisoner exchange with the bearded bastards in sand land for a guy who, we are told by another soldier, simply walked off his post.
Maybe he was mental, like maybe he lost it and didn’t really know what the heck he was doing.  I guess that could be possible. ???  Haven’t a clue. But I heard that when troops went looking for him, one was killed during the hunt. Anyway .... isn’t that like recognizing the terrorists as a regular army representing a country somewhere?  I think now that the example is out there, it gives those vermin hope and encouragement that there could be future deals. So we got back one damaged individual and they get back five who btw ... can talk about their experience at Guantanamo and American interrogation techniques and what to expect.  Hey, I guess the one we got back can talk about taliban cuisine.

But the one I heard and read about is what had me wondering the most. 2nd most.

Spend-em-up Obama is pledging a Billion Dollars to, “ Defend European Allies.” Well, that’s what I heard on the news and read in the paper. They can’t both be wrong.  It’s not so much the money as we all know Americans are very wealthy and just rolling in the green stuff.  So it’s only fair to share the wealth. You know, to each according to his needs etc. And I guess they still need over there.  I hadn’t realized they were actually our allies though.  Honest? Allies?
I think he has Eastern Europe in mind and specifically the Ukraine.
Meanwhile ... Mr Putin is suggesting that the USA could be edging toward a new arms race and a possible new cold war, if any military buildup occurs near it’s borders with eastern Europe.  Yeah, I can see where that might make the always paranoid Ruskies a tad nervous.  But then ... I do believe they have a history of armies on or too near their own borders. And doesn’t the USA also have border problems?

Not to worry folks.

O. has everythang under control.

I don’t think I feel well at all now.

certain ppl with a right to steal especially when things get tempting

What the heck, as long as I started with news of the ludicrous but certainly not laughable, may I present you with this month or so old article I tripped over but forgot to post.
I have not been altogether organized lately, but better late than never with this kind of thing.  Interesting, haven’t heard anything from the more militant fems on this.

So, whatcha think folks?
Rehabilitate?  Maybe. After all, he’s just a boy of 14.
Surely too young to understand right from wrong.
Ya think?
Yeah, neither do I.
What a fucked up system in place and it seems mostly in pig ignorant western countries.
This little shit should have something he values cut off.  He is a total waste of space and air and resources.  His victims, if the quote here is true and complete, are morons.
Oh, whoops. I understand the moron word isn’t in vogue anymore as it is “offensive”.
Well, morons offend me by simply being.

There isn’t any help for vermin like this.

Teenager who sexually assaulted 12 women aged between 17-48 walks free from court with referral order designed to help HIM

· 14-year-old admitted 12 separate incidents in three-month period last year
· He sexually assaulted 12 different women aged between 17 and 48
· Police spokesman said although upset his victims want the boy to get help
· Magistrates in Manchester sentenced him to a 12-month referral order
· Special sentence for youths aged under 16 who admit their crimes
· Aims to rehabilitate the offender and address their criminal behaviour
By Lizzie Parry

A teenager who sexually assaulted 12 women, including a 48-year-old, has walked free from court with a referral order aimed at rehabilitating him and addressing his behaviour.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted 12 separate incidents when he appeared at Manchester Youth Court.
The assaults took place between August 20 and October 9, last year around the University of Manchester.

On August 28, an 18-year-old girl was sexually assaulted near to the university’s Science Park.
Less than a month later, on September 21, three women, aged 21, 22 and 27, were sexually assaulted by the boy.

Then on October 5, he sexually assaulted five women, aged 17, 21, 32, 32, and 35.
The final assault took place on October 9, when the teenager attacked a 48-year-old.

Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin said: ‘Thanks to the information provided by the victims and the witnesses who came forward, we were able to make a swift arrest.
‘Following our press appeal, a further six women contacted us to say that they had also been assaulted.

‘Although the victims were upset by what happened, each one of them have expressed a genuine wish the boy receives help and does not offend again.’
The teenager was sentenced by magistrates to a 12-month referral order.

According to Department of Justice guidelines, referral orders are suitable for first-time offenders under the age of 16, who plead guilty to their crimes.

Ok, come on. Educate me here.  If a woman is only “upset” does that imply she may have liked the attention?  Maybe they were all bow wows?

Seems to me a lady who’d been set upon in this way would feel a bit more. Like, angry. Murderous? Unforgiving? All sorts of other words might apply. But upset sounds so mild. And the way he had been at it, he damn well knew exactly what he was about. But hey ... if they forgive him it occurs to me that I shouldn’t give a darn.

Next up, another amusing bit of law and disorder.

And just so ya know .... £800 is $1,338.00

Two young women who stole £800 of scooters and hair straighteners from John Lewis because security was ‘so lax’ walk free from court

· Pair told police they targeted John Lewis because it was so ‘tempting’
· Security guards recognised Hastings and Fleming after an earlier trip
· Hastings and Fleming fined £490 each and handed a 12-month conditional discharge
· Judge said it would be nice if things could be unlocked and not stolen
By Darren Boyle

Two young woman who admitted stealing almost £800 worth of goods from John Lewis blamed the store’s lax security for their crime.
Jodie Hastings, 25, and Natasha-Marie Fleming, 23, snatched scooters and hair straighteners worth nearly £800 from the store’s flagship store in Oxford Street, central London.

The young mothers were snared when they returned to steal from the same shop again just a few days later. But the two thieves were recognised by security guards and arrested, Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard.

the stealing was easy, so not really their fault

another day another killer with … “rights”

Rule one ...  always belong to a protected group, and it’s a plus if you happen to come from some place in Bongo-Bongo Land.
Rule two ...  above.

Frankly, and some will look askance at the remark, I regard it as one less of ‘them’ in the world. Which should not be taken to mean I approve the method, or even that I approve the killing. I approve of neither.
Thing is, I just do not care.  However ... I can’t resist the post because, it’s another sorry assed example of how far the system bends over in compliance with a foreign based “human rights” law.  In this case as in others before, it’s article 8 of the ECHR (European Convension on Human Rights).

I may be misinformed but, it is my understanding that the French generally ignore the more stupid articles that impede justice there.
So why can’t the Brits simply tell that court to, shove their article where the sun don’t shine?

Take a look at this latest

Mum who killed her baby can’t be deported ... because of her human right to family life

Ghanian nurse secures right to live in Britain despite killing her baby
Her legal team successfully argued the woman is entitled to a family life
The woman was jailed for three years but was freed in April to look after her three surviving children
She has also been granted anonymity despite being named at the time of her conviction
The Home Office described GHA’s legal victory ‘disappointing’

By Mario Ledwith

A foreign nurse who force-fed her baby to death cannot be deported because it would breach her right to a family life.

The Ghanaian woman won her fight to stay in Britain under controversial human rights laws.

And even though the 33-year-old was named in the widely-reported court case that saw her jailed for causing the baby’s death, she has now been granted anonymity.

Having served her three-year sentence, she has been free since April last year to look after her three surviving children.

Last night one MP said the situation was ‘perverse’ and called the immigration tribunal’s ruling ‘warped’. Home Secretary Theresa May has made repeated attempts to remove the woman, who can be referred to only as GHA.

The case will again raise questions about the use of the European Convention on Human Rights to protect criminals. The Home Office said the ruling was ‘disappointing’.

The nurse, who came to the UK on a student visa in 2000, used a small milk jug to tip baby rice African corn porridge and chicken soup into her child’s mouth.

GHA’s legal victory – using Article 8 of the European Convention – means that she has been allowed to remain in the UK unconditionally with her family and been granted lifetime anonymity.

Not A Canadian Joke

A Baby Moose Walks Into A Coffee Shop, Eh?

... a Rabbi, a penguin, and a swish hair dresser turn to him and say ...

image

No, sorry, it’s not like that. Real moose. Real story. No joke. And it’s from Canada, eh, so probably there was no ... penguin.

A northern Ontario man found a baby moose on the side of the highway, picked it up and took it to Tim Hortons.

“She still had the umbilical cord and was still wet when I found her,” Stephan Michel Desgroseillers told Shirley Erkila, who posted a video of her petting the calf outside the coffee shop near Sudbury, Ont., on Monday.

“The wolves would have got to her,” Desgroseillers said.

In a posting on the radio station Q92 Rocks Facebook page, Desgroseillers said he was the one who picked up the small calf and took it to the Wild at Heart Animal Shelter, but not before having to keep it for the night.

On his own Facebook page, he said the moose calf was “the sweetest thing ever except for the crying.”

The male calf is now being cared for by staff at the animal shelter.

Coffee-loving Canadians were surprised Monday when they spotted a baby moose walking alongside a man into their local Tim Hortons coffee shop for a caffeine fix.

The man, Stephane Desgroseillers, told local media he spotted the moose next to a highway near Greater Sudbury in Ontario the day before and picked up the newborn after fearing the moose was in danger.

“The little calf kept coming back out on the road and wanting to go into the traffic,” Desgroseillers said, according to CTV News.

The moose ended up spending the night with its rescuer after Desgroseillers found the area animal shelter was closed.

It would only sleep for half an hour at a time, before waking up and whining for about two hours.

“I had a rough, rough night,”

The next morning, Desgroseillers put the moose back in his car to head back to the animal shelter, but not before stopping for coffee.

“I basically felt blessed to be in a position to have crossed a path with that little animal,” Desgroseillers said, according to CTV.  “I felt I need to share that with other people.”
...
CTV News reports the male moose, which Desgroseillers says was “damp and wobbly” when he found him, weighs 25 pounds and was just 1-day-old when found on the side of the road.

image

The male calf is now being cared for by staff at the shelter, where a trio of nursemaids are taking turns tending to their new resident.

They have named it Oliver.

“Only three people can be with him right now because he needs to bond,” said Adeline Charpin, an intern at the wildlife rehabilitation facility in Lively. “We’re doing all we can.”

That includes sleeping with the animal, who was just two days old when he arrived at the centre on Monday and requires round-the-clock attention.

“We need to stay with him and feed him every two hours,” said Charpin, one of the surrogates. “If nobody’s with him, he just cries.”

I kind of wonder ... other news sites covering this story say how Desgroseillers found the micro-mooselet while out quadding ... ie, riding raucous loud off-road dirt bikes/cars in the woods. Did that noise scare the mother away nearly the moment she gave birth?

King Obama

Rubio: Obama ‘Believes He’s Become A Monarch Or An Emperor’

Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio savaged President Obama for his failure to notify Congress about the release of five Taliban prisoners from Guantanamo Bay as the law requires, claiming the president “believes somehow he’s become a monarch or an emperor.”

Rubio spoke Tuesday with Fox News’ host Gretchen Carlson about the White House’s refusal to tell Congress before they traded five high-level Taliban prisoners for Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, captured by the Taliban after his likely desertion in 2009.

“The president has violated the law here,” the Florida senator asserted. “The law is very clear. He must give congressional notification 30 days before any prisoner in Guantanamo is released. He failed to do that.”

“Apparently the only person he told was [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid,” Rubio continued. “He didn’t even tell the chairwoman of the intelligence committee, a Democrat, Diane Feinstein.”

“This is a pattern of behavior by this White House,” the lawmaker later declared. “He believes somehow that he’s become a monarch or an emperor, that can basically ignore the law and do whatever he wants. And there’s a real, growing frustration — even among Democrats — at this sort of behavior.”

It’s true. And it’s real.

Because he is the Kwisatz Haderach

GodKing of America. BECAUSE YOU HAVE LET HIM BE.

BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ONE ELECTED REPUBLICAN IN ALL OF WASHINGTON DC WHO IS NOT A JIZZ GULPING COWARD. NOT ONE.

Because not a single one of these spineless skidmarks-in-your-Underoos™ losers has the cojones to call this guy out, or any one of his top cronies, HIS illegal CZARS, his unelected henchmen, his out of control regulatory agencies with no oversight, or any of the now corrupted alphabet of government agencies being used as weapons against the American people ... not a single one of your elected representatives in our nation’s capital is brave enough or tough enough to call a spade a spade and not just condemn him for his illegal actions - HUNDREDS OF THEM AT THIS POINT - but to demand that just action should be taken, for fear of Political Correctness.

Because the media and the insane Communist Left will immediately call that person a RAYCIS. Because the dirty little underhanded scuzzball in charge happens to be half black.

Thank God that Obama isn’t an actual, 100% negro African-American. Boehner, McCain, McConnell, and all the rest of them would probably have to just have to do a mass suicide and set themselves on fire.

Well, I think it’s time for some Fair Trade Policy in action.

I think it’s time to hit the Reset Button.

They got their bid in, and we had to swallow “the fact” that George Zimmerman was a “White Hispanic”. Fine. Over and done with. Our turn. Obama is now an “Afro-Caucasian American”. Which means that the leader of the Choom Gang, the little rich semi-muslim foreign kid raised by commies outside the continental United States, the one who had to go to Chicago and learn how to be a resentful hate-filled Black Victim, is now a white person. Yo yo, mah hong-kaay, check your privilege. Now start writing the damn indictments.

hayfever days

Oy vey, just what I need. Another day lost to “hay fever” allergy. Take this pill or that spray, none of it makes much difference. Blow nose until it’s raw from tissues, cough up as much as you can. Put back out from coughing. Repeat endlessly. I got 3 1/2 hours sleep in on stretch last night ... felt like heaven.

Days Between

There were days, and there were days
And there were days between
Summer flies and August dies
The world grows dark and mean
Comes the shimmer of the moon
On black infested trees
The singing man is at his song
The holy on their knees
The reckless are out wrecking
The timid plead their pleas
No one knows much more of this
Than anyone can see
Anyone can see

There were days, and there were days
And there were days besides
When phantom ships with phantom sails
Set to sea on phantom tides
Comes the lightning of the sun
On bright unfocused eyes
The blue of yet another day
A springtime wet with sighs
A hopeful candle lingers
In the land of lullabies
Where headless horsemen vanish
With wild and lonely cries
Lonely cries

There were days, and there were days
And there were days I know
When all we ever wanted
Was to learn and love and grow
Once we grew into our shoes
We told them where to go
Walked halfway around the world
On promise of the glow
Stood upon a mountain top
Walked barefoot in the snow
Gave the best we had to give
How much we’ll never know
We’ll never know

There were days, and there were days
And there were days between
Polished like a golden bowl
The finest ever seen
Hearts of Summer held in trust
Still tender young and green
Left on shelves collecting dust
Not knowing what they mean
Valentines of flesh and blood
As soft as velveteen
Hoping love would not forsake
The days that lie between
Lie between

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
