late night tea time

Up again in the middle of the night. Wide awake. I don’t know why. Can’t get back to sleep. Ok, check the house; fine. Visit the bathroom. Fine. Mugga tea? Sure, why not; it seems PG Tips is my go-to at 3am. Mmm, it smells so good.

Ok, so what’s happening out there in the middle of the night here??

Let’s start things off with a BANG, or at least a smash:

image2014 IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis Starts with Huge Crash
It took only seconds for pole-sitter Sebastian Saavedra’s dreams to go up in smoke at the 2014 IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis on Saturday.

When the green flag dropped, Saavedra stalled at the starting line. As a result, opposing drivers were forced to work around the 23-year-old Colombian. Carlos Munoz couldn’t react quickly enough, making contact with Saavedra and setting off a scary chain of events. Mikhail Aleshin also rear-ended Saavedra, compounding his bad luck.

Debris went flying all over the track.

The collateral damage wasn’t limited to the drivers, though. John Tuohy of The Indianapolis Star reported that Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard was struck by debris as he waved the green flag. Mayoral spokesman Marc Lotter said that Ballard had been hit in the elbow, but the injury wasn’t considered serious.

I had to go and stare at my calendar after reading this one. Indy, today?? WT ... ? I even checked the internet ... nope, Memorial Day isn’t until the end of the month. It wasn’t until I was on my second read through that I noticed that this was the “IndyCar Grand Prix” not the Indy 500. riiight, because they had that big fight and split up a couple years ago, remember?  Amazingly nobody was really hurt. Bet it took them a while to sweep the track clean though.

speaking of bangs and smashes ...

Texas man arrested for suspected premarital sex with 16-year-old wife
The marriage may be legal but the suspected premarital sex was not, authorities said on Saturday after arresting a 41-year-old Houston-area drama teacher for the alleged sexual assault of a child, his 16-year-old wife.

Ilich Guardiola, who also works as a voice actor in Japanese animations, was pulled over in a traffic stop in the Houston suburb of Spring Valley last month and later questioned about his relationship with the teen riding with him, police said.

Shortly after the incident, Guardiola married the teenager, who has not been identified, in Las Vegas with the approval of her mother, who witnessed the wedding.

Police said there is circumstantial evidence that the two engaged in a sexual relationship prior to legal marriage.

“The marriage is absolutely legal. We received a copy of the marriage certificate,” said Gary Finkelman of the Spring Valley Police Department.

Guardiola was arrested on Thursday at his Houston-area apartment for violating a Texas law that forbids sex with a child, regardless of the child’s consent. A child is defined as a person under 17 years of age.

Guardiola’ bail has been set at $50,000 and no lawyer has been listed as representing him, according to his arrest record.

Really Texas? Seriously? Intolerant bunch of Christo-fascists, or what? And “circumstantial evidence”? More seriously? What’d ya do, go rooting around in the dumpster for some used rubbers? Pathetic. I mean, look at this story: the guy gets pulled over, but “later” he’s questioned about his relationship? Why, did they drag him off to pedo-jail immediately?

Actually I think this is a lose-lose case for Texas. If the guy had been abducting the under age girl, and the cop hadn’t questioned him (or arrested him on general principle) and he had been a kidnapping pedo, then they would have been in 11 kinds of hot water. Instead, he’s hassling a guy apparently on his way to getting married in Vegas?

Ok, the dude probably is a pedo. Or one of these frightening western religious creeps, with 32 children and all the wives have to wear long gingham dresses and clomp-along shoes, and the homestead has never seen a gallon of paint or a bottle of Windex. Or both. 41 yo teacher, 16 yo bride? Texas creepy.
PS - if she’s old enough to get married, and does so with free will and parental consent, then shouldn’t ALL those “minor laws” go out the window? And we have to treat her as an adult, an “emancipated minor”? So let’s see her picture. Because I want to see what color gingham the bride wore.
hmmm - if the story seems strange, it’s always best to look for other sources ... nope, this one is also misleading, but in a different way.

Exit, pursued by a cop. A Houston-area drama teacher is retreating from the limelight in handcuffs after cops discovered he had married a 16-year-old girl in Las Vegas. Illich Auyapah Guardiola, 41, had made a name for himself as an English-language voice actor in Japanese anime films. But he aroused suspicions when he was caught in a car with the teenage girl during a a traffic violation stop in April.

Spring Valley Village police soon found out that Honduras-born Guardiola was a teacher who worked at several local acting schools and theaters. The teenager was one of his students at the Houston Family Arts Center, Click2Houston reports. An investigation into the illicit relationship revealed that the teacher had thoroughly seduced his underage victim. Court documents show that the teen sent a number of text messages to the older man, including one that read, “I love having sex with you.”

Maybe Texas, maybe all states should take a step back and compare their age of consent laws with their age of marriage laws. It would be pretty stupid if they didn’t line up.

I’m going back to bed:
:eyeroll: :eyeroll: innuendo much??You’re a Ram, baby Obama is just so proud and excited that one of his peoples got drafted. No wait, Obama is just so proud and excited that Michael Sam was drafted by the Rams, making him the first openly gay guy in pro football.

With the 249th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams made history and selected Sam.

Sam was a consensus All-American and the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Missouri.

That good, and yet he was 249th of 256? Sounds like there is still some resistance to the big gay push in football. Reeducation training camps, here we come!

President Barack Obama congratulated Michael Sam on Saturday for being the first openly gay football player taken in the National Football League draft, the White House said in a statement.

“From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are,” Obama said. He also congratulated the NFL and the St. Louis Rams, the team that drafted Sam.

Sam, an All-American defensive end who played for the University of Missouri, made history when he was picked by the Rams in the seventh and final round. He was the 249th of 256 players selected.

The 24-year-old got the news by telephone from Rams’ coach Jeff Fisher, who told Sam: “You are a Ram. The wait is finally over.”

Are we ever going to run out of bullshit “firsts” for every damn group to pat themselves on the head for? Isn’t just a little tiresome at this point? Frankly, if I were Sam (if Sam I am?) I’d be rather humiliated to get that call. Oh, it doesn’t matter that he trained and practiced his whole life to make it to the pros. Doesn’t matter that he starred in college ball, made All-American, and even Player of the Year. Nope. All that matters is that he kisses boyz.

I ain’t going here either, because YOU KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN:

Austrian bearded drag queen wins Eurovision song contest
Copenhagen (AFP) - Austria won this year’s Eurovision Song Contest early Sunday with “Rise Like a Phoenix” sung by bearded drag queen Conchita Wurst.

The 25-year-old performer, whose real name is Tom Neuwirth, took the Eurovision crown in Copenhagen despite initial expectations that the eye-catching performance would be too controversial in socially conservative countries.

“We are unity, and we are unstoppable,” she said after winning the glitzy competition with 290 points compared with 238 points for runner-up the Netherlands, in what Eurovision fans had anticipated would be a more closely fought race.

Since the contest was launched in 1956, voting has often been tied to politics and the 2014 event was no exception, with the audience jeering countries that announced giving points to Russia.

Yup, that’s our superior cousins over in Europe, being all sophisticated and all. The talent show is all about national politics, screw the talent. Unless the talent has a whole deck of Cards to play. Like gay Jesus here. Unity. Oh gag me. Like a phoenix. Torched for the very first time. Like a pee-eee-ee-nis. Oops, sorry, I meant fee-eee-ee-nix. Feel your heartbeat, next to mine.

still a dirty boy

Another quarter ton of topsoil and well composted manure. Took a trip up to the nursery in Caliphon, and got 6 or 8 flats of flowers as well. Nothing fancy, but colorful stuff that will spread out quickly and flower all summer. Some for sun, some for shade. And another 14 bags of dirt and stuff.

There ought to be enough at this point to put a 4” layer down on top of the exposed subsoil. That’s what I want. The soil here barely grows moss. Even dandelions struggle. Best to just rough it up, and cover it over with a good layer of something that works.

It’s going to be a chore, mixing 1 bag of topsoil with a third of a bag of composted manure with a third of a bag of Miracle Grow stuff. Then laying it out, patting it in place, wetting it down, and sticking a few starter plants in. And doing that 16 times. But in the end I should have first rate soil, and the mix of annuals we picked up today should take off like a shot. That’s what I want. Color and coverage. And size! It’s going to be a garden, not 3 or 4 puny little pots of dirt that bake in the sun!

Meanwhile the tulips are nearly 3 feet tall. Are they supposed to get that tall? I always thought tulips were like a foot high, maybe a foot and a half. These are monsters. Maybe the soil is too good?

thumbs up over dead enemy given a thumbs down by the pc willfully blind

Nobody should wonder why I get so insanely angry, so frustrated, so …??
I can’t even find the extra words I know are lurking somewhere in my head, confronted as I am with morning papers.
Now you can ask with reason, why not avoid them?
Because, if I must answer, some things are smack in front of me right there on the front page.  And once I see the headline, which should give me a hint of what lays ahead, I just have to read the rest.  And it’s all downhill from there.
Here’s a damn good example, and it’s only one of so many I lose count.
It has to do with the Brit military and ass-wipe pol.correct loons in charge.

An aside first.
I have not worked it out and it’s only a thought that comes to mind.

Nobody should qualify for the position of president or prime minister who has never served in the military, and I don’t mean as KP.  If they’ve ever seen combat up close and personal, better yet.  And that is still no guarantee they’ll be any better at the job.

OK, so here what bothered me today and made me boot this thing.

The Ministry of Defense is all hot and apparently bothered because some soldiers/airmen gave a thumbs up beside a dead taliban terrorist.

MoD investigates pictures claiming to show a British serviceman posing with dead Taliban fighters

Gruesome photographs appearing to show a British serviceman in a celebratory pose next to a dead Afghan have prompted an investigation by the Ministry of Defence.
By Jonathan Owen

In one photograph, a British soldier with a cigarette in his mouth is kneeling by the body of a dead Taliban fighter and giving the thumbs up. Another shows a British soldier smiling, cradling his rifle in one arm while giving the thumbs up to the camera as he kneels next to the head of a dead Taliban fighter laid out on the ground.

The graphic pictures were taken in the aftermath of a Taliban attack on Camp Bastion, the main British base in Afghanistan, in 2012. The MoD confirmed that they had been brought to the attention of defence officials last month and that military police are investigating.

Two US marines were killed in the September 2012 attack by 15 Taliban fighters. 16 British and American soldiers were wounded and six US Harrier jets destroyed in the night-time attack - the biggest loss of US aircraft in a single day since the Vietnam War.

Now this is an example of what pisses me off so much.
Let nobody doubt the courage, toughness or derring do or ability of the Brit combat soldier or airman.  And that I might add, includes a number of young women, some of whom have died been killed in that god forsaken, pestilence ridden black hole, home of men who don’t hesitate to throw burning acid in a girl’s face for the high crime of going to school and learning to read and write.  Men who set fire to schools where girls are in attendance. A culture among these heroes who believe killing medical teams inoculating kids against Polio is ‘A’ OK.
I can understand all that in a way. Oh sure.  Once these damsels learn to read a book beside the Koran, they might start demanding rights.  And ya can not have that kind of thing going on. Who knows where or how it might spread.  My god in heaven, they might even demand to vote.  No. Far better to keep them happy in ignorance and pregnant as well.  Oh, and fully covered of course.  Give the female a bit of education and leeway and soon you lose control of them.  They start to think for themselves.

ok so back to this other bit of politically correct madness. Read this.

An RAF spokesman said it had a “zero-tolerance policy on the mistreatment of deceased enemy personnel” and this case was being treated “extremely seriously”.

They added: “We can confirm that the incident is currently subject to an ongoing RAF Police investigation and therefore, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.” Two RAF Regiment members have already been withdrawn from front line duties, according to the BBC report.

News of the disturbing images emerged after the BBC ran some of the pictures on its website. They had been taken from liveleak.com, where they were posted last month.

The scandal is the latest in a series of controversial incidents involving coalition forces posing with the bodies of dead Afghan fighters. Pictures of US soldiers posing with the remains of dead suicide bombers emerged in 2012. The conduct of the soldiers was branded “reprehensible” by US President Barack Obama, and condemned by Afghan President Hamid Karzai as “disgusting.”

And the previous year, US soldiers were filmed urinating on the corpses of Taliban fighters in Helmand – actions which President Karzai condemned as “inhuman”.

Tells us something about Karzai if he believes the life forms we call taliban are ‘human’ to begin with. They are most certainly NOT human except in form, and as we already know, looks can be deceiving.
But the MOD in full pc mode want to “investigate” their own.

dirty boy

Condo park life ... now that we live in a downstairs unit, we have some dirt area we can claim as our own. Last year I got the maintenance guys to bury a drain line for the gutter downspouts at the top of our stairs, so now the rain water no longer runs down our little hill and washes away the soil. Problem is, at this point the “soil” is moss and pebbles.

So now that we have approval to use our dirt area as a flower garden - condo park life, you need approval for everything! - I actually have to put in a garden so we can have one. That means I have to bring in the topsoil myself. And put the edgers in, and build up the beds, and so on and so forth. Because it turns out we can use a far greater area than just where I “illegally” dug in some tulips and daffodils.

So today I took the old Satrun sports car mini-truck down to the nursery, loaded it up with a third of a ton of good dirt, and schlepped it all down the side hill here. I figure I’ll leave the 13 40lb bags in place on the ground a couple days to squash any weeds trying to grow underneath, then I get some annuals, spread the dirt out and plant ‘em. Then I’ll dig in more perennial bulbs come Fall.

OMFG, Miracle Grow makes this super Garden Soil enhancer stuff you mix in. I got a few bags of that too. I think cow manure is one of the main ingredients. Oh pheww!! Open the car windows!!  But it works; I put some in last fall when I dug in some bulbs, and now the tulips are blooming like mad, they grew 2 1/2 feet tall with blossoms the size of navel oranges. Can’t wait for the daffodils to emerge.

So there will be garden, but it might take awhile to get there.

Personal update

Haven’t been posting much lately. Almost a year ago I bought a SIG-Sauer P-226. 9mm. 15-rnd mag.

image

Last month I spent almost $300 on the .22 conversion kit for said pistol. 9mm is just too expensive to go plinking with!

image

Comes with one 10-rnd mag. I bought an extra mag also.

Twice As Bad As Bonnie And Clyde?

“Concerns" Raised Over Police Shooting Frenzy

Vendetta Squad, or just another episode of The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight?

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – On December 10, more than two dozen police officers from across Miami Dade County converged on a blue Volvo that had crashed in the backyard of a townhouse on 65th Street just off 27th Avenue.

As the car was wedged helplessly between a light pole and a tree, nearly a minute passed before officers opened up – firing approximately 50 bullets at the car and the two unarmed men inside the vehicle.

The two men inside the car survived that initial volley of gunfire, according to witnesses, who said they could see the men moving inside the Volvo. Everything went quiet for nearly two minutes before the officers opened up a second time – unleashing an unrelenting torrent of bullets that lasted almost 25 seconds. By the time it was over, the two men inside the car were dead.

CBS4 News has learned a total of 23 officers fired a total of at least 377 rounds.

Bullets were sprayed everywhere. They hit the Volvo, other cars in the lot, fence posts and neighboring businesses. They blasted holes in a townhouse where a 12-year-old dove to the ground for cover and a four month old slept in his crib.

“It was like the Wild Wild West, man, crazy,” said Anthony Vandiver, who barely made it through the back door of his home before the gunfire erupted. “Shooting just wild; shooting all over the place. Bullets could have come through the window. Anything could have happened man. They weren’t thinking, they weren’t thinking at all.”

Earlier that night, the driver of the Volvo, Adrian Montesano, robbed a Walgreens employee at gunpoint, and then later shot Miami Dade Police Officer Saul Rodriguez in a nearby trailer park.

Montesano escaped in the officer’s patrol car eventually dumping it at his grandmother’s house in Hialeah – before fleeing in her blue Volvo

By 5 am every cop in South Florida was looking for that blue Volvo – intent on catching the man who had shot one of their own.

But what police didn’t realize before they started shooting at the Volvo is there was a second man in the car – Corsini Valdes – who had committed no crime.

And in fact, as CBS4 News was the first to report, both men inside the Volvo were unarmed at the time police caught up with them. All of the gunfire came from police.

Montesano and Valdes were killed by the dozens of rounds that tore through their bodies.

But Montesano and Valdes weren’t the only ones struck – two Miami Dade police officers were hit as well – caught in the crossfire. One officer was shot in the arm and the second was hit in the arm and grazed in the head. If the bullet had struck just a half an inch to the side the officer would have been killed.

The sound of the gunfire was deafening – literally deafening. Two Miami police officers sustained ruptured ear drums from the cacophony of shots.

CBS4 News has spent the last five months piecing together the events of that evening and the hunt for the blue Volvo. CBS4 News reviewed radio transmissions, analyzed video taken during the shooting, interviewed officials from the different agencies involved, and reviewed records related to the officers who fired their weapons.

The nature of the shooting suggests the officers lost sight of their own training and that the officers, caught up in the heat of the moment, failed to listen to their radios or coordinate their actions endangering not only their own lives but the lives of the public.

Without a doubt, Montesano was guilty. He’s on videotape, robbing the drugstore, holding a gun to the cashier’s head as he uses her as a human shield, and so forth. And he did shoot the one officer in the gut. And took his cop car and perhaps his gun. But he committed the crime by himself, and everyone knew that. So the other guy in the car could have been a hostage. We’ll never know. But the car was jammed between a wall and a light pole. It couldn’t go anywhere. And nearly two dozen cops converged on the scene, mere feet behind the vehicle.

imageimage

Valdes’ wife of 15 years, Elsa Innamorato, was surprised to find out her husband was the second suspect in Tuesday’s shooting. “It’s a shock to me. I just can’t believe it,” she said. “He would get into stupid problems, but basically he was a good dad here.”

Innamorato said Valdes helped her raise her 15-year-old son despite his battle with drug addiction. “I know he’s in a better world right now,” said Innamorato.

Records show Valdes had been charged with more than 40 crimes since 1988, including drug possession and trafficking, battery, burglary and trespassing.

It all began during an armed robbery, at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, at a Little Havana Walgreens off of 27th Avenue and Flagler. Police released a surveillance photograph of Montesano, as he took a woman hostage at gunpoint at the drug store. Security guard Denefield Ferguson said he witnessed the hold up at the Walgreens as he sat in his car in the drug store’s parking lot. “He shot at me through the back mirror here,” said Ferguson. “I fired three shots at him, and it turned left real quick.”

Compared to Valdes, Montesano’s history with police is scant. He has a single criminal mischief charge on his record. His grandmother expressed her shocked to hear about his “out of character behavior.” Speaking through a translator, she said, “He was so sweet.”

Ok, so Valdes was no angel. But he was not part of this crime. Nor did he even get a chance to surrender.  But while a whole lot of panicky misinformation was published, it took the local TV news reporters nearly half a year to dig out all the facts. And finally an official investigation is underway. It does rather look like the cops lost control of themselves and the situation.

The nature of the shooting suggests the officers lost sight of their own training and that the officers, caught up in the heat of the moment, failed to listen to their radios or coordinate their actions endangering not only their own lives but the lives of the public.
...
Senior commanders admit they are very lucky more officers weren’t seriously hurt or killed. Even more haunting is the danger the residents in the area faced. At the time of the shooting, parents were getting their kids ready for school and across the street men and women stood exposed on a Metrorail platform.

The shooting is being reviewed by both the State Attorney’s Office and the Miami Dade Police Department.

While those reviews will likely take years to complete, what is clear is the Walgreens robbery and the shooting of Officer Rodriguez sent officers across the county into a state of frenzy.
...
“They were saying put your hands up, and the guys were still moving after they shot maybe 50, 60 times,” [local resident] Vandiver recalled. “And the guy tried to put his hands up. And as soon as he put his hands up, it erupted again. And that was it for them. That guy tried his best to give up.”
...
As the smoke cleared and the sun begins to rise officers dragged Montesano and Valdes’s bodies from the car. Although he appears dead, they decide to transport Valdes to Jackson.

Slowly neighbors came out of their homes.

“The policemen that had on the black and white vests were out there laughing like it was so funny,” said one of the neighbors, “because they got a free shot off them people. Shooting all them bullets like that, that don’t make no sense.”

Pity they didn’t have a couple of those MRAPs available. They could have just driven over the car and squashed it flat without firing a shot.

In 1933, when the forces of the law got together and ambushed notorious robbers Bonnie and Clyde, they fired 167 shots, hitting the couple 50 times. That’s less than half as many shots as this incident, and the Bonnie and Clyde ambush went down in history as the definitive case of police overkill.

here’s your sign

#OhGod

image

On May 7, 2014 Michelle Obama added her voice to worldwide calls for the safe return of over 200 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls. The First Lady tweeted: ‘Our prayers are with the missing Nigerian girls and their families. It’s time to #BringBackOurGirls.” The tweet was signed “-mo,” indicating that she sent it herself.

Am I the only one who finds this picture not just pathetic but more than a bit embarrassing?

After all, they aren’t “our girls”. They’re Nigeria’s.

And dollars to donuts, they’re either already dead, or already sold off as slave brides.

And the strongest nation in history - ours - all we can do here is to put up a picture of sad eyed Mooch holding a Twitter sign??

I’m not seeing much condemnation on the TV news about why Boko Haram did what they did and is saying what they are saying. Oh noes, can’t have that. We must all look the other way and pretend they aren’t following a playbook straight out of the koran, word for bloody word:

The girls have not been seen since Boko Haram militants abducted them on April 14 from the Government Girls Secondary School in rural Chibok, about 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of Maiduguri and some 600 miles from the capital of Abuja.

That was followed on Sunday night by another kidnapping, with villagers in Warabe accusing Boko Haram militants of taking at least eight girls between the ages of 12 and 15.

Boko Haram’s leader, Abubakar Shekau, took credit in a video that surfaced this week for the mass kidnappings.

“I abducted your girls,” he taunted in the video, first obtained by Agence France Presse. “There is a market for selling humans. Allah says I should sell. He commands me to sell.”

Meanwhile, I don’t really think Nigeria cares much, one way or the other. But they’re being forced into pro-Western posturing, and who knows, they’ll probably get another zillion dollars in aid money out of this.

Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan pledged on Thursday to find more than 200 schoolgirls abducted by Islamist rebels, saying their rescue would mark “the beginning of the end of terrorism” in the country.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum (WEF) being hosted in the capital Abuja, President Jonathan also thanked foreign nations including the US, Britain, France and China for their support in trying to rescue the girls, who were kidnapped from a secondary school on April 14.

He also thanked the delegates for coming despite the terrorist threat facing Nigeria, saying that it would show that the terrorists hadn’t won.

But there are voices, active intelligent voices, kicking up a fuss. Nobel Peace Prize non-winner Malala Yousefazi being one of them ...

Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girls’ education campaigner who was shot by the Taliban, says “the world must not stay silent” over the abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped in in Nigeria three weeks ago

Pakistani girls’ education campaigner Malala Yousafzai in an interview with the BBC has called on the international community to do more to help the girls kidnapped over three weeks ago by Islamist Boko Haram militants in Nigeria.

The abduction which happened on April 15 has sparked international outrage and mounting demands for Nigeria to spare no effort to find and free the girls before they can be sold into slavery or otherwise harmed.

Nigeria’s police have said more than 300 girls were abducted from their secondary school in the country’s remote northeast. Of that number, 276 remain in captivity and 53 managed to escape.

Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban as she boarded her school bus in the valley of Swat, northwest Pakistan after she spoke publicly about girls’ rights to education.

UPDATE

Now, Boko Haram may be going after those trying to find the girls. On Thursday, Nigerian police said one officer was shot in the neck during a gunfight with suspected members of the group on the road between Maiduguri and Chibok.

And on Monday, Boko Haram attacked Gamboru Ngala, a remote state capital near Nigeria’s border with Cameroon that has been used as a staging ground for troops in the search for the girls. Some of the at least 310 victims were burned alive.

The assault fits a pattern of revenge-seeking by Boko Haram against those perceived to disagree with the group or those who have provided aid to the Nigerian government.

310 victims? As in, dead? This is a major massacre. Why isn’t it the top news story around the world? Oh, right, I know. Because it’s Africa. Where this kind of feral barbarity happens every day. Nothing new here at all. But it shows you who is the Strong Horse here, don’t it? And it ain’t the Nigerian Army, who just got played by what had to be a huge force of terrorists.

The town of Gamboru Ngala, near the border with Cameroon, was crowded with traders for the market day on Monday when the suspect Islamist militants attacked.

Senator Ahmed Zanna told the BBC’s Hausa service that they arrived in a convoy of vehicles, shooting, stealing food and motorbikes and burning hundreds of cars and buildings during their rampage.

Another resident said they were shouting “Allahu Akbar [God is great]”.

The militants had used a diversionary tactic to get the security forces out of Gamboru Ngala by spreading rumours that the abducted schoolgirls had been spotted somewhere else, Mr Zanna and several residents said.

A resident of Gamboru Ngala told the BBC that 310 people had been buried on Tuesday and Wednesday.

310 dead here. 2000 or more since these terrorists started things up in 2009. And all Obama’s America will do for “our people” in “the motherland” is Tweet a picture of some dumbshit hashtag sign. Wow. Impressive.

UPDATE on the UPDATE:
What, does Rush read BMEWS?

Here it is again, closer. See it? Is that not pathetic? What the hell message does that send? Imagine if bin Laden were still alive. Imagine Ayman al-Zawahiri. Can you imagine? They’re laughing at this over in the huts and so forth wherever they are. It is just unbelievable. #BringBackOurGirls. They’re Nigerian, unless there’s something that we don’t know.

Yeah, like I said. 2 days before him.

Now this is a funny show.  Of course, it wasn’t meant to be a comedy.  It simply turned out that way.

Journalists fight on live talk show

Two journalists in Jordan having a televised debate about the civil war in neighbouring Syria literally turned - and overturned - the table on each other during an on-air brawl.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
