an update to a story from yesterday … vicious killer dies, family to sue ohio

Yesterday I made mention of a worthless pile of crap who was executed in Ohio.

Originally, the paper said it took him 15 minutes to die.
Another report in another paper today says 25 minutes.  Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.
What I do care about is this.

Oh dear oh dear .... poor daddy was tortured to death. Sob-Sob
We want our lawyers ... sue-sue

‘People should be ashamed’:

Family speaks out on Ohio’s 25-minute ‘experimental’ execution for convicted murderer and rapist

As more ghastly details emerge of the slow death of Dennis McGuire, anger is growing at the inhumanity of the US’s approach to capital punishment – and relatives of the dead man are seeking legal redress.

A cocktail of lethal drugs began to flow into Dennis McGuire’s bloodstream shortly before 10.30am on Thursday morning. The 53-year-old convicted murderer from Ohio was to be the first prisoner executed with a new method of lethal injection, using an untested mix of the sedative midazolam and the painkiller hydromorphone.

Normally, the victims of lethal injection show movement in the early moments of their execution, and then lie still. McGuire, by contrast, remained motionless for approximately five minutes, before snorting suddenly and gulping for air.

McGuire had been sentenced to death for the brutal 1989 rape and murder of a young, pregnant newlywed, Joy Stewart. His final words were to Stewart’s family, who watched his execution, thanking them for the “kind words” they had offered in a letter to him. He then told his children “I’m going to heaven, I’ll see you there when you come.”

His daughter Amber watched alongside Stewart’s family as he gasped several times, before finally expiring at 10.53pm. Ms McGuire covered her ears to block out the sounds of her father’s last breaths. He had taken some 25 minutes to die.

“It was the most awful moment in my life to witness my dad’s execution,” Ms McGuire said in a statement later. “I can’t think of any other way to describe it than torture.”

At a news conference this morning, Ms McGuire and her brother announced that they would pursue a lawsuit over the manner of her father’s execution. Ohio state is now expected to face a legal challenge to its plans for the February execution of another convicted murderer.

SOURCE and more

Maybe someday if we’re lucky, this shit and her brother will themselves be the victims of violent crime.
Be interesting to hear what tune they sing then, if they survive.

OK, I found this update in a paper called iNews.  It’s a paper often so left (but not as bad as the Guardian) that Drew once said he was surprised it wasn’t printed on pink paper.  So the slant of course will be anti DP.
Take a look at the comments page following the article.

Idiots! Plus the usual Americans uncivilized, the DP is not a deterrent, there are more murders in US states that have the Death Penalty, than in states that do not.

Where do they get that from?  Or is it made up?  I’d read or heard it before.
There’s no accounting for what the left accepts as truth.  Among the comments there are some that are not from the left.  Not a lot, but they are there.  Most are not from the USA. Oh, and the other thing left wing nut jobs like to spout.
How America must change our justice system and ban the DP, if we don’t want to be seen in a negative way by the world.

Might that be the part of the world we help support?

Fuckin euro-weenies and their convenient idiot American left winger friends.

angry women can be downright scary people. and mrs o. looks like, if looks could kill

Wow ... who’d a thought?  Ah .. right. You folks probably.

Actually, I am somewhat surprised if it’s all true.  Hey, silly me.  I was shocked at the revelations concerning President Kennedy’s affairs while in the large white bldg in DC.  I think what always catches me off guard, is a bit of naivety on my part for the following reason.

I seem to think (too often it appears) that since the Kennedy stories which continue even in these days, and was brought up in a paper here only this week, I naively think that a serving president would be very much aware of the press. Most especially the more sensational types.  I’d have thought Obama might take a look back at Clinton, who had less to lose in a way.  By which I mean, Michelle hasn’t shown near as I can tell, any desire for high public office, so she could have less to lose than say Mrs. Clinton who was very much a political animal.  So anyway, I foolishly think ppl in those positions are looking over their shoulders all the time and making the cautious decision to behave least they end up exposed and embarrassed.
I am wrong every time and surprised every time because I suppose I have discounted or not counted in any way, for human nature.
Clinton sure didn’t appear to be embarrassed by his exposure.

It appears that this story is now out in the open true or not, in the USA.  How could it not be?
But I’m curious to know if this angry looking Mrs. O. is making the rounds there as well.

Is the Obama marriage on the rocks? Astonishing claims emerge of ugly fights over that selfie, and even a Presidential affair

Michelle Obama alleged to have discovered her husband has been unfaithful

Reports claim they will separate at the end of his presidency in 2016

Follows claims in two books that couple neared divorce in early 2000’s

By Tom Leonard

With invitations warning guests to ‘EBYC’ — Eat Before You Come — and rumours they’ll be dancing to star turns from Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay Z, it won’t be your usual White House knees-up.

Michelle Obama was 50 yesterday and President Barack Obama will be feting his redoubtable First Lady tonight with a party that will give them the chance to let their hair down and forget their troubles for a few hours.

The email inviting guests to the ‘snacks & sips & dancing & dessert’ advised them to wear comfortable shoes and practise their dance moves.

Purse-lipped Washington etiquette experts have tutted at the informality of it all, but the Obamas have always been keen to appear accessible, even if the stand-offish reality is somewhat different.

The Obamas are the world’s most scrutinised couple at the best of times, but it will be rare to find a guest at the bash who won’t be secretly watching them with particular interest.

After all, the last time they were pictured together — at Nelson Mandela’s memorial — the First Lady was looking none too pleased as the her husband posed for a ‘selfie’ photograph with the leggy blonde Danish Prime Minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt.

Indeed, if the U.S. tabloids are to be believed, the relationship of Washington’s golden couple is facing problems that go far beyond dirty looks.

Under the headline Obama Divorce Bombshell!, the National Enquirer claims their 21-year marriage has dissolved in a string of ugly fights that were prompted by the Mandela memorial incident and — far more outrageously — Mrs Obama’s discovery that Secret Service bodyguards had been covering up infidelity on her husband’s part.

It’s an allegation the White House has declined to comment on, though after Bill Clinton’s trouser-dropping scandals, Americans would be rather less sanguine about any extra-marital activity than the French appear to be over President Francois Hollande’s behaviour.

Mrs Obama, the Enquirer claims, intends to stand by her husband until his presidency is over, at which time he will move back to Hawaii, where he grew up, and she will stay in Washington with their children.

For the moment, they are allegedly sleeping in separate bedrooms after Mr Obama’s attempt to ‘mend fences’ backfired so badly on a recent Christmas getaway to Hawaii that he returned to Washington with their two daughters, leaving his wife behind.

The National Enquirer, it must be said, quoted only anonymous insiders in support of these sensational claims, and is hardly the most reliable source of hard news.

Obama advisers are certainly not talking as if there is any scandal in the offing. Washington’s media has ignored the story.

But everyone remembers how the Enquirer famously got it right when it claimed the supposedly squeaky clean Democrat presidential contender John Edwards had fathered a love child by a former campaign worker.

Thin as its story may seem at the moment, might it be on to something again?

‘There was little conversation and even less romance. She was angry at his selfishness and careerism; he thought she was cold and ungrateful’

- Washington reporter Richard Wolffe

one less bad guy. the world will not miss dennis mcguire

I have read that it took 15 minutes for the verminous Dennis McGuire to die.
Good.

The state of Ohio finally rid the world of his useless life and breathing, with an experimental mix of drugs.

For any readers who haven’t heard of this miserable good for nothing rapist/killer.

Dennis McGuire raped and then stabbed to death a pregnant young woman in 1989.
The traditional drugs used to execute prisoners are unavailable following years of pressure from human rights campaigners, as if the condemned are human beings.  The US maker of one of the drugs used, closed its factory due to negative publicity.
So a completely legal enterprise is no more.  Why isn’t there anyone out there killing off these bleeding heart ass wipes?

Anyway ….  Death Penalty states switched to another drug made by a Danish company.  But it stopped shipping to the USA following criticism from “activists” there, and finally the European Commission imposed new restrictions on the of drugs used for US executions.  Yeah … the good ole, do gooders on the left in the old country.  They get to stick their noses in our business at will.
In this particular execution, the ban worked out very well, for as stated above, it took awhile for the bastard to die, and it was not pleasant.
I’d guess that 15 minutes was still probably half the time his unfortunate victim spent in pain and terror. Good. I wish it had taken him longer to die.  He deserved it.

Why so long from conviction to death?  No wonder critics claim that the DP is not a deterrent.  But I’d be willing to bet that even under these constraints, there might be a few who could have but didn’t, for fear of the DP.

I think lawyers who try and save the lives of animals like McGuire, should suffer the very same death as the victims of their clients.  And no appeal process.

I’d suggest the very same for all these “activists” as well.

An old friend posted on Facebook “You know you’re in trouble when your kid calls you up for help with her spelling homework. “Mom can you give me a sentence that has biodiversity in it?”

I responded “For dinner we had steak, eggs, bread rolls, lobster tails, and asparagus. Is that biologically diverse enough?”

Finally, A New Whats It

image

This one goes out to Her Stoatliness, Miss Weasel, over at The Not Quite Daily Weasel Times & Stoat Intelligencer. Her, the American Weasel in Darkest England.

I owe her one, since she linked me for the Warbling Woozle post the other day.

And it has absolutley NOTHING to do with weasels, stoats, ermines, badgers, or any of those fabulous four footed furry mustelids, AT ALL.  Nor is it a banjo cover, a banjo mute, or a banjo accessory of any type whatsoever.

But it IS an English product, and I’m quite sure it is one with OFFICIAL approval in the UK. Because. England.

Oh, and NASA had a hand in it. Another bit of space tech, brought down to earth.

So, what’s it?

image

Damn, damn, damn, and BLAST.  I managed to fool the internet image search engines for 10 whole minutes before they figured this one out. Then ... spppfflllt. Spotted. That’s why I can’t do What’s Its any longer. So use your brain, not your mouse.

ambulance crew too busy … having a break … can’t come now … man dies.

I was going through my usual shutdown routine, it’s late, I don’t even have the time to check my bmews inbox.
I caught this at the last minute, it is not the first time I have read or heard similar.

I don’t know if things could have been better in the old days. I’d think not but then read things like this.  Might not be so worrisome if this were a one time affair.  Well, yeah you’d have it in the back of your mind I guess. But when it happens more than 2wice or 3 times. In one case the crew when the wrong way and got themselves lost.  Does not inspire much confidence.

Take a look.

‘This is the 4th time I’ve rung for an ambulance for my husband… it’s too late now, he’s gone’:

Woman’s desperate 999 call after her husband became ill and died

Fred Pring died of heart failure waiting almost an hour for an ambulance
Retired gardener’s wife Joyce had begged the emergency service for help
By the time paramedics arrived the 74-year-old had died

By Liz Hull

A woman made four increasingly desperate 999 calls after her husband became ill with chest pains, eventually telling the operator: ‘It’s too late now, he’s gone.’

Fred Pring, 74, died of heart failure while waiting almost an hour for an ambulance after paramedics initially refused to attend because they were due a break, an inquest heard yesterday.

In a string of harrowing calls the retired gardener’s wife Joyce, 63, had begged the emergency service for help for her husband.

By the time paramedics arrived more than 50 minutes after the first call it was too late.

Delays in A&E meant paramedics had had to wait up to 99 minutes to hand over patients to hospital staff, and there were no ambulances available.

When a crew was found they refused to attend because they were due a break.

a criminal breaking the law ?  can’t trust anyone these days..

Found in the morning papers.

Child killer gets extra 6 months added to his life sentence.

A convicted child killer serving a life sentence was given another 6 months.
Oh, that’ll teach him.  So, what did he do to earn such harsh treatment?  Did he kill another prisoner ?  Steal some extra food?  In possession of drugs?
Well, no.

He did a runner.
A runner?
You mean he broke out of jail?
Ah, well, not exactly broke out.  He walked out.

He walked out?  Wait a minute. How is a convicted killer, especially a child killer, allowed to just … walk out of a prison?

Erm … well ya see, it isn’t that he was “allowed” to walk out like a free man.

Well darn it what?  How?

He was in an open section of the prison.  I guess that’s the part run on the honor system where folks are only bound by their promise to be nice people and not be naughty and run away.

How disappointing.  Who’d have thought a child killer could not be trusted.
You just can not trust anyone these days.

A massive man hunt led to his capture 9 days later.

Now if this country had the death penalty …..

from the world of upside down

I guess it has been a little over a week since the ruling of lawful shooting in regard to gang member Mark Duggan.

No surprise then, that immediately after that announcement there was a disturbance in and outside the court.  In fact, Duggan’s younger brother had to be physically restrained, shouting threats and abuse.  A mob developed outside the courthouse spitting at cops, the usual race crap bandied about while the so called protesters looking for any excuse to abuse police and public, conveniently forgetting that Duggan was not strictly speaking, a black man.  He was after all, half white.

Not that any of that matters. That’s what those types do for entertainment.  I’m just giving a bit of background because in a world of bizarre, as has been said many times, where up is down etc., a suggestion has been made with regard to the courts, police and …. the Duggan family.  This’d be from the same judge who requested a moment of silence before the inquest into the shooting, a silence to respect the memory of Duggan as a human, not a gang member.
Oh by all means lets do that in all cases of police shootings where the bad guy/newly made victim, is given a moment of silence.  Well, here’s the latest twist.

Da Judge is going to ask the Duggan family for their views on just how armed police should tackle dangerous criminals.

He says the dead man’s family will be invited to “submit their ideas on potential reforms to high risk operations.”

The following will come as no surprise to anyone at all familiar with the politically correct, Trotsky/Marx loving Guardian newspaper.

Recently they reported a short item on screwball Bradley Manning who insists on being referred to by his chosen name of Chelsea.  Most papers have ignored that. But not the Guardian.  These bedwetting hand wringers of the far left have reported a complaint Manning has.  I copy the brief item here word for word, as found in another paper with credit to the Guardian.

Manning bemoans image as an anti-war pacifist

Chelsea Manning, the WikiLeaks source, has expressed unhappiness at her public profile in her first statement since she was sentenced in August to 35 years in Custody.  She claims a false impression of her as an anti-war pacifist is being given.

Bold words from the crybaby pretender. Oh he’ll stop that bad tyrant Obama, baby, right in his tracks!

PAGE after PAGE of comments at Facebook, 3400 so far, where not one single person believes him. Not even a little bit. And dozens/hundreds call for impeachment. it is to link, then laugh. Then cry I suppose.

some brief notes

Some brief notes on the news.  Nothing earth shattering but some things that make us stop and wonder what’s in the water.
For example.  Once perhaps the greatest postal system in the world, in Britain it’s now come to this.

Postal deliveries to two villages have been suspended because muddy country lanes in the area are considered a health and safety risk.  Villagers are perplexed as they say, it’s no wetter or muddier this year than any other winter.
But hey … elf n safety rules these days.

#

From that to the really bizarre. It’s been found that rats grow new brain cells after mating and the conclusion of a study made based on that knowledge says, (I could not make this up, I doubt you could either) “Having Sex Makes You Smarter.”
Increased sexual activity is credited with increased brain power.
One little problem say US researchers.  When the creature stopped mating, the benefits to the brain were lost.  Oh, they also said that being smarter does not mean you will have more sex.
Oh well I’m glad we’re clear on that.

#

The UK is going ahead with previously announced plans to increase aid to Nigeria.
Apparently Drew’s well reasoned argument against this insanity has not been heard at number 10.  Shout louder Drew.

#

See what ya make of this little gem.
Everyone already knows the asylum rules in this country are a farce.
This item made the editorial page of The Mail under the heading,
Beyond Belief.
A 21 year old Afghan is being given “religious refugee” status on the grounds that,
he does not believe in God, and so is in fear of his life in his homeland.
At least, that’s his claim.  The Mail asks the question, “Is any excuse for avoiding deportation too absurd to be accepted by the dupes who police the system?”

#

Hey, here’s a note of joy.  You all be so happy to learn that the genius with the pinched and sour face known to the world as Sean Penn, has given up his 67 guns.
Yeah. Really.  He’d dating wigger actress and beauty Charlize Theron, and t’was she made him see the light about gun control. Yeah. Watch what happens when they break up. Anyway, Penn says guns are, “Cowardly killing machines.”
He’s giving them to a celeb artist who will turn them into a sculpture to be auctioned for charity.  Isn’t that sweet?  Ah … middle age love. And lust.

#

Here’s one that will have you cheering. Well, more like laughing at the absurdity.
The Brit Board of film Classification is releasing new guidelines on swearing in movies and changing the age at which youngsters may attend.  The age is being lowered to 15.  The reason I think it’s funny is mostly because of what I’ve heard coming from kids much younger and many years ago.  And these days no matter what the film classification is, kids get more on line than they ever will in movies. So the board’s new rule is really pointless. But I guess they need something to do with their time.  And finally ….

#

Britain spends £35 million a year, in American dollars that’s $57,311,923, to lock up Polish criminals … because the jails are full in Poland.  A deal has been struck with Polish authorities, whereby the UK will house criminals until 2016, giving Poland time to build more jails.
The world is a very mad and unruly place today.

Oh wait.  There is one more and I promise final item.

It concerns that unwashed looking foul mouthed creep who passes for a comedian, by the name of Russell Brand.  Who btw surely made some decent bucks in the USA. Well, his tour here is all about renouncing the material world and joining in a “revolution” whose slogan seems to be, Fight the Power.  ?  No mistake, he may look like he’s never had a bath and his mouth can be a toilet but, having said that.  At the same time he is articulate and he can express himself well if needed.  But he’s still a no talent blob who made it big because it does not take a lot to please an audience in today’s world of ‘entertainment.’ A few foul jokes and the more gross the better. Raunch seems to draw.  Just look at the success of that decadent slob Howard Stern.

if those old slave traders could have seen today, would they still?

This is a bit of info I grabbed from the net to give you some idea of who this total jackass is. This jerk. This disgusting bag of poo.

What person, and from what kind of culture, would believe this to be an appropriate portrait and an official one at that. Ppl like this scag look in the mirror and see ... what the hell do they think they see?

And get this folks.

This gross “portrait” is we are informed .... taxpayer funded.  Now if that isn’t one huge insult, what is?

sick - sick - sick and stupid too.

First, the background.

Diane Abbott is a British Labour Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Hackney North and Stoke Newington since 1987, when she became the first black woman to be elected to the House of Commons.[1] In 2010, Abbott became Shadow Public Health Minister after unsuccessfully standing for election as leader of the Labour Party but was removed in a reshuffle three years later.

She was Race Relations Officer at the National Council for Civil Liberties (1978 to 1980).

In 1988 Abbott claimed, at a black studies conference in Philadelphia, that “the British invented racism."[46]

In 1996, Abbott attracted widespread criticism when she claimed that at her local hospital “blonde, blue-eyed Finnish girls” were unsuitable as nurses because they had “never met a black person before”.  The secretary of the all-party Finland group of MPs, Conservative Ian Bruce responded by accusing her of using racial stereotypes, adding: “All Scandinavian countries have people from African and Caribbean countries living there. It shows ignorance to make such remarks.” Abbott’s apology came as Marc Wandsworth, executive member of the Anti-Racist Alliance, who is himself half Finnish, pointed out that the present Miss Finland, Lola Odusoga, is black, of Nigerian and Finnish descent. “She’s a black Finn like me” he said. Abbott’s position was supported by fellow Labour MP Bernie Grant “Bringing someone here from Finland who has never seen a black person before and expecting them to have to have some empathy with black people is nonsense. Scandinavian people don’t know black people - they probably don’t know how to take their temperature”.

Abbott referred to David Cameron and Nick Clegg as “two posh white boys from the Home Counties” in May 2010.[50]

On 4 January 2012, Abbott tweeted that: “White people love playing ‘divide and rule’ We should not play their game”, which again led to widespread criticism including accusations of racism.[51] Only after being told by the Labour Party leadership that the comment was unacceptable did she apologise for “any offence caused”, claiming that she had not intended to “make generalisations about white people”. The Deputy Prime Minister called her comments a “stupid and crass generalisation”. Nadhim Zahawi, Conservative MP, said: “This is racism. If this was a white member of Parliament saying that all black people want to do bad things to us he would have resigned within the hour or been sacked.”

Now here was the headline and she wasn’t alone in this but .... she sure looks the worst.

Parliament of posers: Taxpayer billed £250,000 for MPs to order paintings, statues and photographs of each other

Since 1995, two dozen politicians have been captured on canvas
Tony Blair, John Major and Paddy Ashdown among those chosen
Ex-Commons Speaker Betty Boothroyd has been featured 3 times
John Bercow spent £22,000 on a painting and another £15,000 on a frame

By Matt Chorley, Mailonline Political Editor and Gerri Peev

Here’s a link to the whole story But FIRST, I want you to know what the taxpayer shelled out for her portrait.

Think about people.  What sane person would allow themselves to be viewed this way, and at a cost of, in American dollars to make it easy for ya ....

$19,297.00

FOR THIS

image

And yet they demand we must see them as, just everyday ordinary people.  Yeah. Well maybe in some jungle someplace and not even then.

How sad to read the above about, “ All Scandinavian countries have people from African and Caribbean countries living there”.
I’ll bet they do. And I bet they have a higher crime rate than they used to.

try this one

Darn it all. I can’t find the pix that goes to this. It really looked good tho.

Hey Drew if you’re up and looking.

I haven’t tried this. Yet.  Don’t like chives but everything else looks okay.

When you’re feeling up to it ... try this.  Then let me know if I should bother. ha. LOL.

It came from a magazine or paper here.  Wish I could find the picture.

So anyway, just for fun .....

Ingredients
· 4 eggs
· 1/4 cup grated pecorino-romano
· 1/4 cup chopped chives
· 1/4 cup crumbled bacon
· Pepper
Directions
1. Separate eggs, putting whites in 1 large bowl and yolks in 4 separate small bowls. Whip whites until stiff peaks form. Fold in cheese, chives and bacon. Spoon into 4 mounds on parchment-lined baking sheet; make a deep well in center of each. Bake at 450 degrees for 3 minutes, then add 1 yolk to each well; season with pepper. Bake until yolks are just set, 2 to 3 minutes.

[Drew stops by to “egg” things on a bit: ]

Eggs In Clouds, Slightly Italian Style
image

See the link at Rachel Ray

Or try the “more Italian” variety from Daisy’s World

I found a similar recipe where the egg white goes over a slab of bread with a hole in the middle, and when the white is set, the yolk goes in the hole. That put me in mind of what we called “gas house eggs” when I was a kid, an Americanization of “Gasthaus eggs” I would have thought. But NO! If such a thing was a staple of the simple Bed & Breakfast alpine inns, then no recipe showed itself on my search. What I came up with was real gas house eggs, apparently made popular by being featured in some movie of the 40s? All they are is a buttered slice of bread lightly pan toasted, then you use a shot glass to put a hole in the toast, then drop the egg yolk in the hole. The white sits on top of the toast while the yolk cooks, then the bread is flipped. Actually, that’s the backwards way to make them. You’ve got your bacon cooked up already and on the side, and your toast is just about to pop out of the toaster. Slap a spoon of bacon fat in the skillet, and crack on an egg. Pop the toast, maybe speed skim on some softened butter, put in the hole, drop the toast over the egg, and get ready to flip it. Because for some reason, once you put that toast over the frying egg, the whites cook up in a jiffy. Then a quick flip cooks the yolk as hard or soft as folks like, without overcooking the white. And they cook faster than eggs over easy.

But they aren’t Italian style, and they aren’t in clouds. Not fancy like Peiper’s eggs.

The UK also does this odd bit they call Scotch Eggs. They’re quite the affair. Not sure if it’s something to eat or some kind of primitive international shipping packaging and preservative.

driven out of my computer room … needed the break anyway

This has not been an altogether easy week and it’s only Wednesday.  And ... puter just crashed on me. Hate it when things freeze and have to do a restart. Anyway.

Couldn’t use this room for two days as the remaining trees in back where taken down.

They have this machine that grinds up all the branches and much else, and that was directly to my right, where there’s a window and not much else. Except that infernal grinder.  By the time they finish, around 4 or 4:30, I’ve just been too tired to do much of anything. But the break was welcome from this computer I must admit.

Bad news for friend Drew as his post office again denies he or his address exist, as my card was returned to me yesterday.  Poor Drew.  How soon they forget.
I wrote him (email) not to worry. I’d resend the card next year and save the expense of one less card.  lol.  But there’s a problem.

I forgot what it was I may have written inside that card. I haven’t a clue.  So I’m faced with a problem of ethics and legality.

Should I open the envelope and remove the card to read, which means in effect I’d be reading Drew’s mail.  After all, it’s addressed to him. So that might not even be legal.

On the other hand, since the post office says the address does not exist … But no. So at great expense to myself I will invest in another stamp, put the returned envelope in another one so that Drew can show the jerks at his PO what they did.

Can I file a claim against the PO for a buck fifty?

OK so, you may recall this from a week ago.  We had a storm and one of the trees fell. There are three still standing. Or were when this snap was taken.

So the downed tree was finally lifted off the hedge, the neighbor’s back garden was cleaned up and their wire fence easily repaired.
The neighbor was very concerned about their dogs getting loose but we put up a temp fence for them.  Damn shame that tree couldn’t have fallen on their dogs. Two yappy damn Schnauzers.  Gotta be among the world’s dumbest k-9s. Maybe I can find some cat piss somewhere, dump it on both and watch em eat each other.

The remaining three trees, or really two but with growth and age one of them looks like two separate trees.
Before.

So I pretty much stayed out of this room for the duration.

I had no idea how big our back yard was.  I think I miss the trees.  But I am told that even as it is, the value of this place has been increased.
Much good it does us at the moment.  Oh well. It’ll take a bit of time to fill it all in properly.  The tree ball could not be reversed and buried, they cut it as low as they could. The ground is almost solid chalk below.  The cost of grinding the monster down to nothing is prohibitive.  To give you some idea, and we’re taking the size of this thing into account, in American dollars the cost could run as high as $1,000.00.

There once was an apple tree back there, but the fallen tree put paid to the poor thing. Had flowered and bore fruit every year.

And finally .... And cos I took a huge shine to this fellow.

This is Buddy.  He belongs to one of the crew that was working here. Still a fun loving puppy.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
