Is it just me?

Is it just me?

Or has Barackade Obama painted himself into a corner? Anything that he agrees to now will be seen as a ‘win’ for Republicans. Or, if he takes it ‘to the limit’, he’s forced the government to default. Just like a follower of Saul Alinsky. I would like to remind our current @sshole-in-Chief that Alinsky never had a chance to try his theories… but then, Obama has never actually done any useful work for a paycheck. He’s never run a business, much less a nation. His own ‘autobiography’ says the one time he did work for a private company he felt like he was ‘working behind enemy lines.’

Today’s Reading Assignments 10/8/2013

Back in the ‘old days’, when the Skipper was alive and friends with Vilmar, Vilmar used to post a list of interesting news, opinion, and just plain fun stuff each morning. I’m not going to do that. But, during the current crisis, in which Barackade Obama is trying to become a Hugo Chavez clone (Don’t want to waste a good crisis), I thought I’d try to post links to important news and opinions. Important to me, anyway. You read and decide.

Vindictive Shutdown Theater

Why the Left Hates the Old

5 Examples of How the Government Thinks it Owns Everything

So, are these the people you want running your health care?

PRIDE: People Rejecting Ideas Deemed Evangelical

I’ll try to update this list as the day goes on.

BTW, Vilmar now blogs at ANTZ-IN-PANTZ

Funny How O Can Find Money And Permission To Have

Illegal Alien Rally At Closed National Mall

Park Service OKs immigration reform rally on ‘closed’ National Mall

A planned immigration reform rally will take place on the National Mall on Tuesday even though the site is closed due to the government shutdown.

Organizers for the “Camino Americano: March for Immigration Reform” were spotted Monday setting up a stage and equipment on the National Mall for the rally which will take place on Tuesday.

A few scattered barriers around the park have signs informing visitors that the area is closed as a result of the government shutdown.

Susana Flores, a spokesperson for the rally, confirmed for the Washington Examiner that the Park Service will allow the event to take place under the group’s rights granted by the First Amendment.

About 30 members of Congress are expected to attend the rally, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J.

The event is hosted by several immigration activist groups, together with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the AFL-CIO.

RCOB. I think the Douche-o-Meter just pegged at 11. It’s 5:30am; I can’t think of foul enough swear words to describe these people. Marine Corp drill instructors can’t think of foul enough swear words to describe these people. Feegles are left speechless by their hypocrisy. Crivens!!

“We will reward our friends, and punish our enemies” and you, me, and the rest of the people of the USA are enemies. Fucking La Raza and the open borders crowd, Beaner Nation ... those are his/their friends, so they get special treatment. Because they have more rights than you do.

image

Camino Americano is a group calling for instant citizenship for all the illegals already here. Guess what? Most of their members are illegals themselves. But THEY have 1st Amendment rights more powerful than a government shutdown.

and yet, at the very same time ... hunters are being kept out of the woods because of the same shutdown. Can’t go elk hunting, no sorry, you don’t get your tag money back. And who is keeping them out? Probably the same game wardens who would be wandering the woods checking their tags.

I can’t take this Bozo World nonsense anymore. I’m going back to bed. Displace a federal “no” cone for freedom. Push over some Barry-cades. Cut the yellow tapes. Resist. WE. Much.

Chinese have some advice for obama

Obama on the very front page. Again.  And as usual these days, not for the rights reasons.

A bit embarrassing tho to have the Chinese tell our govt. to, ‘Get a grip’.  I don’t think the Chinese have that expression but there must be something close to it, for this headline to appear.

Heck of a thing to pick up off the porch first thing in morning before coffee.

Actually, the headline made me think oh hell, the Chinese might have a better grip on things in my country, than the guy elected to office has.
Whoops ....  not a good thing.

Oh btw ...  interesting comment in a paper yesterday made more impact after seeing this front page.
An editorial said that Obama missed an opportunity that allowed the Chinese to step in and grab business opportunity the USA should have had.  The writer was referring to some meeting somewhere has to do with global business etc., and O. did not attend but I think (?) he sent someone else.  But the writer thought that since all the others were heads of state, the USA should have been represented by O, but the Chinese saw an opportunity and took it.  Can’t blame them for that. It’s what O SHOULD have been doing.

Meanwhile .... some editorial writers here are blaming the shutdown on the out of control extreme right wing Tea Party and the Republicans. Gotta laugh ppl.

Please note, the Chinese are not sticking their unwanted nose in our business on this issue.  But I’ll get back to that later.

There is something else that really ANNOYS me.  You have no idea of the bad language I’m holding back. Or maybe you do.

Is Obama smoking funny weed or has he taken up some other form of mind destroying activity.

OK first of all, I know there isn’t one of our regulars who has a good thing to say about him.  But so far, I had not thought the guy was a total idiot. But I sure do now.  WTF was Obama thinking when .....

The jerk called on the Washington Redskins to change the name of the team because .... the term Redskins was ....

RAAAAAAAAAAAAC I S T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some may not see it in the same light I do, in which case those ppl would be very left wing.
Christ almighty .... doesn’t Obama know anything about history and why the term redskin came about?  Apparently not.

I will be very disappointed if the management does change the name just to appease the very, very few who have decided to make an issue of it.
And they don’t know history either.

OK, now back to China.

China is the US’s biggest foreign creditor, holding at least $1,273,750,496,662.38 in US treasury bonds.
The Chinese finance minister is being quoted on the radio and in the papers as saying that as China and America are the world’s two biggest economies,
“they are inseparable.”

chess, the gateway drug

I don’t know how Christopher is missing these stories, so I’ll cover for him.  Apparently playing chess in San Fwanswishco turns you into a drug dealer. Or a homeless junkie or something. So to win a battle in the War On Drugs (m’kay?), SF police have broken up these “games”. What’s a poor pawn broker to do? Hey, it’s San Fran baby ... protest the man, man!

Dozens play chess in public to defy SF crackdown

At least for an afternoon, the chess players were back at the usual spot they’ve occupied for years along downtown San Francisco’s busy Market Street.

But instead of hustling a dollar here and a dollar there with deft openings and clever traps, the mostly homeless players and their supporters were playing Sunday in defiance of a recent police crackdown and ban on the public games. And they were backed by a brass band and several homeless advocates who helped organize the three-hour “chess-in” under bright, blue skies on a hot San Francisco afternoon.

Earlier this month, police confiscated chess gear, tables and chairs at the site.

Police said the games had begun to attract illegal gambling and drug sales to the area adjacent to a cable car terminal, which is a popular tourist destination. Nearby merchants had also complained about an increase in illegal activity.

“We don’t mind the chess players and would like to have them back,” said Cody Hunt, manager of an electronics store in front of which the games were played. “But lately, the games have attracted loud dice games and open drug deals, and nobody needs that.”

The chess players argue that the police response to the illegal activity that took place near the games was heavy-handed and indiscriminate.

“Have the drug deals stopped because chess has been banned?” said Andrew Resignato, a San Francisco resident who would play a game along Market Street occasionally. “It was an excuse to move homeless people away from here.”

One of the more apt comments asks whether these same Left Coast rebels also spoke out against the recent push to ban assault weapons again. WTH, it’s exactly the same logic that’s now being used against them. Yes, it’s an excuse for heavy handed government. And this is news why?

And now, the backfire begins

Who Needs These Government Workers Anyway?

Nobody. The federal government has been a bloated puss-pig of a jobs program for special people for ages, and now that the feds are stamping their tiny little jackbooted feet, we’re beginning to see just how little many of those agencies and their employees contribute. Zilch. Buh-bye!!

Fiscal hawks say the silver lining to the partial government shutdown, which is entering its second week of scaled-back services, could be the picture of government waste it paints for taxpayers.

A look through the shutdown contingency plans of the federal government shows some little-known commissions and agencies—like the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness—don’t have anybody reporting for work during the partial shutdown.

The ability of the government to run without any of the people from any of these agencies on the clock is prompting some watchdog groups to question why, then, do the agencies need to exist in the first place?

“Think of all the money we could save as a nation,” Judicial Watch said in an Oct. 7 post.  “Besides bringing attention to these largely unheard of agencies, the shutdown – caused by Congress’s inability to agree on a funding bill – is also shedding light on just how bloated the federal government is, with an astounding workforce that’s seen nearly 800,000 furloughed this week.”

Snip snip. Cut cut. Chop chop. As any “kitchen table economist” can tell you, one way to balance the budget is to spend less. Lots less. I think it’s high time we trimmed a million worthless workers from the federal government, and while we’re at it, lets trim another million more from the state governments. The never-ending free ride to Candyland is over, thank you very much. The rest of us can get by just fine without them.

shutdown over shutdown

Gak, I’m beyond sick and tired of the only news in all the world being Obama and his temper tantrum. So here’s some odd bit slightly up Christopher’s alley that has nothing to do with the shutdown at all.

Chess Boxing. It’s a knockout combination, mate

Chess boxing is exactly what is sounds like. The sport combines four-minute rounds of blitz chess alternating with three-minute rounds of boxing. It lasts until there is a checkmate or a knockout.

The hybrid sport, which is gaining attention in the United Kingdom, combines “the mental workout of chess with the physical challenge of boxing,” according to BBC journalist Christian Parkinson.

Basically, you play a few minutes of chess to get your brain stimulated, and then you get into the ring for a few minutes to get your brained smashed.

The hybrid sport is governed by the World Chess Boxing Organisation, and held its first world championship in 2003. So it is actually quite legitimate, and according to the WCBO website, its task “is to train people in the no. 1 thinking sport and the no. 1 fighting sport and the combination of both.”

I’m sure all kinds of puns and double entendres can be made from this. Have fun.

Although how they move those little pieces while wearing boxing gloves is beyond me.

earning the right to 72 virgins. easy. slaughter a few children

Folks, sometimes tho it can hurt we have to acknowledge ppl who just do not think as we do, and give em some credit for bravery and all the other macho stuff that makes a fighting man. And these days, some women as well.

For example, when a man has a cause worthy of fighting for and gives his all, he is a hero. He has faced an enemy and either survived or died fighting.

In a world far separate from ours with a totally separate definition of what I describe …. here’s a case of one man facing his enemy and in the brave tradition of his kind of people …. has sacrificed himself against a vicious enemy worthy of his hate.  His reward is 72 virgins and he gets to meet allah.  And all he had to do was … kill a few children.  I ask you. Wasn’t that brave of him? Hey … that’s macho for ya.
Take a look.

A SUICIDE BOMBER KILLED 14 CHILDREN when he drove a truck packed with explosives into the playground of a primary school.

The attack took place at around 9.30am in the village of Qabak, around 260 miles north-west of Baghdad.
An estimated 90 people were injured, the majority of whom were children, and the school’s male head teacher was killed in the blast.

PLEASE NOTE, GRAPHIC PHOTOS HERE. NOT PRETTY.

Then, moving right along another story of some bravery facing an enemy and you can of course understand the threat here.

A nine-year-old Jewish girl was seriously injured in a suspected Palestinian militant attack while playing outside her home on Saturday in a settlement in the West Bank, Israeli police said.

Israeli authorities weren’t able to find the shooter who they say was a sniper.

Meanwhile, spokesmen for militants in Gaza praised the attack.

“We salute and congratulate our people in the west bank for heroic resistance operations that target Israeli soldiers and Zionist settlers as a response to all acts of violence, oppression and terrorism practised by the Israelis against our people.”

The 9 year old has survived as of this writing. She got lucky but, no virgins for the shooter.

Wow ... the Israelis as terrorists? Well yeah. I can see that.

In a world turned upside down.

Ohm

It Is Not Futile

image

ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ

with thanks to Otis Boykin and Mahatma Gandhi

... and so it begins ...

OTOH ...

The Pentagon on Sunday called back to work most of its roughly 400,000 civilian employees, based on administration lawyers’ legal interpretation of the recent government slimdown.

The order was given by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, five days after roughly 800,000 federal workers were sent home after Congress failed to reach a deal to fund the government.

Hagel said the decision to recall the workers is based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law called the Pay Our Military Act.

So half of it is already over. Which leaves dealing with the NPS and other local automatons up to us, WTP. It’s time for the Big Reminder.

toot toot for new King Canute

Hey, maybe I’d make a good journalist after all. I thought of King Canute halfway through this article. He was the old king of England famous for demanding that the tide go out. (actually, everybody gets the story wrong; not only was he a Viking, he did the thing with the tides to show his fawning courtiers that their flattery was too much).

Anyway, now we have King Obama, having his Royal Fit ... and he’s closed off the ocean as part of it. Because he is that omnipotent.

right.

via Breitbart

Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was “closed” due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.

The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban… of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.

This is governing by temper-tantrum. It is on par with the government’s ham-fisted attempts to close the DC WWII Memorial, an open-air public monument that is normally accessible 24 hours a day. By accessible I mean, you walk up to it. When you have finished reflecting, you then walk away from it.

At least that Memorial is an actual structure, with some kind of perimeter that can be fenced off. Florida Bay is the ocean. How, pray tell, do you “close” 1,100 square miles of ocean? Why would one even need to do so?

Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Maybe it’s high time (or high tide?) that We the People remembered what “federally owned” actually means ... it means owned by the People. Us. We. No, up until now we haven’t bothered tipping over the folly that this was somehow different from “public” lands, also owned by the government, but somehow “allowed” for us mere proles to use. But there is no difference. Sure, military bases, CIA headquarters, etc. Don’t be a moron. But parks? War memorials? The damn bay in Florida? HELLO, MR. ALARM CLOCK IS RINGING!!

Wake up, stupids. It’s all ours.

Time for MASS CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.  Any park, any time, any where. No, you won’t get the tour, you won’t get the donkey ride, and you’re on your own if you fall down and break an ankle. Welcome to freedom; it comes with a bit of risk.

All federal land belongs to all the citizens. Especially the parks, forests, beaches, lakes, rivers, and OCEANS. Get out there and use them. Happily, peacefully, laughingly. But use them, yellow tape or no. Barricades are for walking around.

Fuck this pissy little vajayjay and his team of raisin face crones. They’ve vajazzled themselves right off the edge this time, into total un-respectable laughing stocks.

Close the ocean! The God King is mad!!!  Pppfffft. yeah, got that one right.  BS.

WHITE WIDOW IN THE NEWS AGAIN. OR MAYBE THAT SHOULD READ, STILL. update

More news regarding the slag referred to as, ‘the white widow’ who has happily joined jihad.  Gotta be a screw loose somewhere.  What in the world convinces a white and western female that not only islam is the way …. but also thinks she must become a terrorist as well?  What is lacking in her life? Right. I mean beside a working brain.

When you read some of this stuff, and especially this one in particular, you have to know how very real their threat is.  And it won’t be over in the lifetime of anyone in say the age bracket of 45 to 50. I see this as like the modern version of the hundred year war.  One difference being that the old one had breaks in it.

Take a look at this. And when you think she’s evaded police and soldiers across borders … well, scary stuff.

*note to our American readers.  We would say 8x10. Brits use A-4 term.

btw ... islam’s enemies according to this woman, are all ppl who are not muslims. One very dangerous nut case , but one to take seriously.

The White Widow’s ‘Jihadi children’: Secret diary of fugitive Briton reveals she is raising family to murder ‘Islam’s enemies’

· Samantha Lewthwaite is on the run from police and is linked to terrorism
· The widow of a 7/7 bomber allegedly took part in the Westgate mall attacks
· Officers found a diary and photos at a safe house in Mombasa, Kenya

· She describes plans to raise her three children to be terrorists as well

By Rebecca Evans

Written by the world’s most wanted woman, it is a chilling manifesto for terrorism.

‘White widow’ Samantha Lewthwaite spells out over nine scrawled pages her need to murder disbelievers and incites others – including her children – to do the same.

The crumpled A4 manuscript was found in a Kenyan safe house in which she and fellow Islamic extremists were planning an attack on two hotels and a shopping centre.

Police also discovered spent AK-47 cartridges and photographs of the 29-year-old’s four children.
The document shows she is grooming them to follow in the footsteps of their father, 7/7 bomber Germaine Lindsay.

Lewthwaite is accused of being behind a foiled terror plot against Western tourist targets in Kenya in Christmas 2011 and a grenade assault on a bar in the Indian Ocean resort of Mombasa last year.

Her children by Lindsay, nine-year-old Abdullah and Ruqayyah, eight, have the middle names Shaheed and Shahidah, male and female forms of the word martyr. Lewthwaite was pregnant with Ruqayyah when Lindsay blew himself up.
She is thought to be in hiding in Tanzania or Somalia and an Al Shabaab spokesman says she was involved in the Nairobi atrocity.

In her document, the soldier’s daughter from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire says how ‘blessed’ she was to have had a holy warrior husband and of how she sacrificed her comfortable, Western life to fight against non-Muslims.

‘I asked for a man that would go forth, give all he could for Allah and live a life of terrorising the disbelievers as they have us.
‘This is what I wanted and Allah gave me this and better.’

I’M GROOMING MY CHILDREN FOR TERROR

In the manuscript – found alongside a crumpled photograph of what appears to be three of her children – she reveals she is grooming them to follow in the footsteps of her dead 7/7 suicide bomber husband.

In her manuscript, Lewthwaite explains how her husband grilled the children on how they hoped to achieve the goal of waging war against non-Muslims and what it will take to follow this path.

On one page, she even suggests that stories of jihad could be a suitable bedtime read for the children.

Samantha Lewthwaite’s sinister manuscript lays bare her belief that all non-Muslims should be ‘terrorised’.

She quotes extracts from the Koran justifying her deluded philosophy that murder and bloodshed are the only true path for all Muslims in life.

She writes: ‘Allah will replace them with a people who love him and he loves’ adding: ‘We ask that Allah accepts the blood of all those who die.’

plain and simple truth

A link from the comments from one of our astute readers ... well done!

Thomas Sowell on the “shutdown” ...

The money voted by the House of Representatives covered everything that the government does, except for ObamaCare.

The Senate chose not to vote to authorize that money to be spent, because it did not include money for ObamaCare. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says that he wants a “clean” bill from the House of Representatives, and some in the media keep repeating the word “clean” like a mantra. But what is unclean about not giving Harry Reid everything he wants?

If Senator Reid and President Obama refuse to accept the money required to run the government, because it leaves out the money they want to run ObamaCare, that is their right. But that is also their responsibility.

You cannot blame other people for not giving you everything you want. And it is a fraud to blame them when you refuse to use the money they did vote, even when it is ample to pay for everything else in the government.

In other words, just like Buchanan says: whiny little crybabies having a hissy fit and holding their breath to punish everyone because they didn’t completely get their way.

Face the truth Dems: it’s only the Blacks who are overwhelmingly in favor of Obamacare (91%), because it’s more “gibs” for them. The rest of the country doesn’t want it (29%). Not even close to half of the non-Black Democrats want it. And Americans just aren’t going to put up with the coercive heavy hand of government falling on them, absorbing 1/6 of the entire economy, and fundamentally changing everyone’s way of live. We didn’t even get a vote on it. So screw you. “Have to vote for it before you find out what’s in it”? Bull. Shit. It becomes constitutional only by the last second flip-flop of one man, who makes that declaration based on changing the meaning of the act after saying that isn’t the Court’s duty (tax vs penalty)? Bull. Shit. Like the police who are merely our agents to enforce the law, the Supreme Court is NOT the final arbiter. It is us, We The People. And they are wrong here, and this Act is wrong, and this government is wrong, and we don’t want any of it.

So no money for your power grabbing health care tyranny. But plenty of money for the rest of the federal government; that’s in the bill that was approved. So don’t soil your diaper and cry how it’s our fault. You’re the one doing this, and you’re doing it out of spite. Because you’re a douche, not a president.

snowden shortlisted for european award, for stealing NSA files.

So the traitorous scum is up for a humanitarian award, with compliments of .... the loopy left tree huggers of the green party.

For once I really am ... speechless.

The following is from BBC News Europe.

Edward Snowden shortlisted for EU’s Sakharov prize

Edward Snowden Edward Snowden said he was grateful for the nomination

Edward Snowden, the fugitive American former intelligence worker, has made the shortlist of three for the Sakharov prize, Europe’s top human rights award.

Mr Snowden was nominated by Green politicians in the European Parliament for leaking details of US surveillance.

Nominees also include Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager shot in the head for demanding education for girls.

Former recipients of the prize, awarded by the European Parliament, include Nelson Mandela and Aung San Suu Kyi.

Mr Snowden’s nomination recognised that his disclosure of US surveillance activities was an “enormous service” to human rights and European citizens, the parliament’s Green group said.

Snowden, who has sought asylum in Russia, said in a statement read out in parliament that he was grateful to Europe’s politicians for “taking up the challenge of mass surveillance”.

“The surveillance of whole populations, rather than individuals, threatens to be the greatest human rights challenge of our time,” he said.

The Sakharov prize for freedom of thought is awarded annually in memory of Andrei Sakharov, a Soviet scientist and dissident.

The winner of this year’s prize will be announced on 10 October.

syrian immigrants in france “DEMAND” to be allowed to come here. French aren’t soft enough for them

So they find their way to France, but that isn’t exactly where they wanna be.  Oh no. Course not.

Where they want to be is ....

H E R E !

Can’t say as I blame them.  I guess the word has been out for a long time.  Soft touch Britain is the place to be.  Muslim friendly too. Oh yeah. It’s the law.

As for those on that hunger strike. Rubbish.  They already know that nobody will actually allow them to starve.  I would, but I’m not running things, so they’ll survive.  But the French don’t actually want them either.

Take a look.

Syrian asylum seekers occupy a roof and footbridge in Calais demanding ‘Take us to the UK’

Riot police trying to control group, all of whom want to claim help in Britain

40 gone on hunger strike and refuse to move from bridge in Calais ferry port

By Peter Allen

Dozens of Syrian asylum seekers were today occupying a roof and footbridge in Calais and demanding: ‘Take us to the United Kingdom’.

Riot police were trying to control the group, all of whom want to claim housing and benefits in Britain rather than France.

Around 40 of them have gone on hunger strike and refuse to move from the key bridge in the Calais ferry port.

image

Interesting choice of words by the reporter.
They aren’t here yet but notice, they are “demanding” something already.  I suppose once they arrive they will also demand lots of things as their right.
I guess we’ll see.  Meanwhile, those guys threatening suicide .... nah.  Much doubt about that. Not unless it’s inside a shopping mall or on some high street where lots of death and damage can be done.

Some have also climbed on a roof and threatened to jump off unless their demand to be taken to England is met.

‘We are treated like dogs in France and do not want to stay here,’ said one migrant, who said his name was Majid.

‘Britain is a fair country, and that is why we want to go there – we will be treated will by the British government.’

Placards held up by the 60 plus refugees include slogans including ‘Take us to the UK’ and ‘We want to talk to David Cameron’.

Syria has close historical links with France, which has promised to speed up asylum claims from those who have escaped the Civil War.

But the process is notoriously slow in France, with few benefits made available while migrants are waiting.

French President Francois Hollande had led the calls for military action against Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad’s regime, but is doing very little for Syrian refugees.

Those sleeping rough are quickly moved on by the police, leaving them to rely on homeless charities.

The Calais group includes women and children, all of whom say they come from towns which have been bombed continually.

One woman, who said she originally came from ‘near Damascus’, said: ‘The procedures for us to claim asylum are far simpler and quicker in Britain.

‘Once there we will be well treated, and can bring our families too. We can start new lives in Britain.’

Calais is notorious magnate for migrants from all over the world, many of whom try to get into Britain illegally, either in the back of lorries crossing the Channel by ferry, or by hiding in trains.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
