if I could express myself really well, I’d be arrested.

image

In the world of the politically correct and offend no person or group of persons I share this bit of stupidity.

In the guise of declaring everything “sexist” so that a smaller group of fun loving albeit silly college boys at Cambridge might enjoy the female form; the annual jelly wrestling contest has been cancelled.

Deemed as “sexist” the all male drinking society pitches bikini clad ladies against each other in a vat of jelly.

The uptight anti jelly crowd managed to raise a thousand signatures condemning the contest.

What the hell is the harm?  It is not as if the women who have taken part in the past, have done so under threat or with a gun to their heads. Or more likely this being England a knife, axe, bat or bludgeon.

To be very honest about it, and possibly it’s my age, I don’t quite see the entertainment value in watching either mud wrestling or jelly wrestling or much of whatever else young men find erotic these days. But I can not for the life of me see the harm as long the women involved are okay with it. So what the pc crowd is in effect doing, is denying some women the opportunity to enjoy what they call fun. Hey, they will not be doing these things at 60. But that doesn’t matter to the dead heads on the left.  They will decide for others what is and is not appropriate and worthy of being called fun.

God how I HATE those people.  If I could only express that hate verbally in a better and more articulate way, I’m certain I’d be arrested.

Getting screwed, gradually

Recent History: 4 years ago, gas was $1.79;
this was the lowest cost point under Obama; the short-term price dropped to
ONLY 44¢/gallon more than under Bush the previous fall

It only stayed that low for a couple days. The crude price then was actually a bit lower than the crude price from the previous November, when gas was 10¢ less per gallon, at $1.69.

Yes, before electing Teh Won, in the early fall of 2008 gasoline was selling for $1.35/gallon. After the election the price shot up to $1.69.

Here in NJ in May 2013, gas here is still “low” as $3.19, down from over $3.69 during the winter.

Gee, thanks Mr. pResident. I guess this is the “gradual adjustment” you wanted after all.

Gingrich said Obama wants gasoline prices to get to the European levels of $9 or $10 a gallon, but that “he just wants it to be gradual.” But that’s not what Obama said. Rather, when asked in 2008 about then-$4 per gallon gasoline prices, and whether that could be a good thing to encourage people toward alternative energy, Obama responded that he “would have preferred a gradual adjustment”

Horry CLAP: 3 Kidnapped Women Rescued

Held Captive 10 Years, Neighbors Rescue Amanda Berry

Sick Bastards Arrested

As police and the FBI try to piece together how the three women and a 6-year-old girl, who police believe is the daughter of one of the women, remained captive for more than a decade in a densely populated section of Cleveland, the women were released Tuesday from a local hospital and returned to their families.

“The real hero here is Amanda [Berry],” Cleveland’s assistant police chief Ed Tomba said at a press conference.

The women were identified as Berry, Gina DeJesus, Michelle Knight. The three were treated in the MetroHealth Emergency Department Monday night and released on Tuesday morning. Authorities would not comment further on their conditions, saying only that they looked to be healthy and in need of a good meal. The women all lived within two miles of the suspect’s home.

On Monday evening, neighbor Charles Ramsey told Fox 8 he heard screaming and found Berry at the door of the suspect’s house and helped her call police.

Ramsey said the door would open only enough to fit a hand through. He said she was trying desperately to get outside and pleaded for help to reach police.

“I heard screaming,” he said. “I’m eating my McDonald’s. I come outside. I see this girl going nuts trying to get out of a house.”

Neighbor Anna Tejeda was sitting on her porch with friends when they heard someone across the street kicking a door and yelling.

Tejeda, 50, said one of her friends went over and told Berry how to kick the screen out of the bottom of the door, which allowed her to get out.

Speaking Spanish, which was translated by one of her friends, Tejeda said Berry was nervous and crying. She was dressed in pajamas and old sandals.

At first Tejeda said she didn’t want to believe who the young woman was. “You’re not Amanda Berry,” she insisted. “Amanda Berry is dead.”

But when Berry told her she’d been kidnapped and held captive, Tejeda said she gave her the telephone to call police, who arrived within minutes and then took the other women from the house.

“Help me, I’m Amanda Berry. ... I’ve been kidnapped and I’ve been missing for 10 years. And I’m here, I’m free now,” Berry can be heard saying on the frantic 911 call, made at 5:51 p.m. Monday.

She asks for police to respond “before he gets back” and then identifies her kidnapper as “Ariel Castro.”

Cleveland’s police chief says he believes the three women were tied up in the house where they were found and had been there since they disappeared.

Three brothers were arrested and will be charged in the case, authorities said.

The suspects were identified as Ariel Castro, 52, who lived at the home, and his brothers, Pedro and O’Neal, ages 54 and 50, respectively. The brothers lived at another location, authorities said.

“As far as investigations, we believe we’ve got three suspects,” Ed Tomba, Cleveland’s deputy police chief, said. “We’re going to charge those suspects. We believe we have the people responsible.”

Looks like the kidnapper is/was their schoolbus driver??? Or just happened to work as one?? Cops and Feds had been to the house before, but found nothing and went away!

Police knocked on the door of the home where three missing girls were held captive for a decade - but left when no one answered, it was revealed today.

Officers visited the home on Seymour Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio in 2004 as part of a child services’ investigation.

Police had been alerted to the man living at the home, Ariel Castro, now a suspect in the abduction, after he inadvertently left a boy at a bus depot while working as a school bus driver. No criminal charges were brought and no follow-up inquiries made.

Amanda Berry, 26, and Gina DeJesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 32, escaped the home on Monday night, where it is believed they had been chained for ten years.

Questions will now be asked as to how police and federal investigators failed to find the girls who remained undetected at the home just three miles from the block where they all went missing.

All three young women vanished from the same street, within blocks of each other but years apart. And were held prisoner just a couple milea away for all this time.

Neighbors had heard screams (for a long time I assume) but were unable to figure out where they were coming from??

https and a question on tech

I was going thru a computer magazine, just browsing and came upon this.  It looked interesting but the blurb in the mag. went into little if any detail. Which is my ungeek way of saying they didn’t tell me it might be a mite confusing.  Except to Drew and his peers in the tech world, of which I am still a lowly outsider.

For example,

This means that while someone spying on your Internet traffic will be able to see what websites you’re connecting too, they will not be able to see what you are doing on that website.

What’s that mean?  If you were visiting a gun site or a porn site, they could well guess what you were doing.
So I guess my question is, is there any real value in this?  Or is it bells and whistles, smoke and mirrors?
Here is the link.  And they have it for Chrome as well.

I’m always nervous about installing new features and stuff that I am not familiar with.  I do know what HTTPS means ok. Just thought it might be a good idea to run this by some of you more tech savvy people before I click on anything.

HTTPS EVERYWHERE

China On The Rise

Not exactly a bridge post, except to remind readers that the various kinds of trusses used on bridges are also used on buildings. It’s just another example of how Our Friend The Triangle helps keeps things, um, stiff.

China To Move Quickly To Cover Up New Newspaper Building

covering material - latex, sheepskin? - not specified

image

Chinese authorities have rushed to censor the country’s microblogging site, Sina Weibo, after users started mocking a picture of the new Beijing headquarters of the People’s Daily newspaper, which resemble a giant penis.

A search on Sina Weibo for “People’s Daily” and “building” results in a message that says the keywords have been blocked “in accordance with relevant laws, regulations and policies, search results cannot be displayed”.

Some comments about the 150 metre tower, which is still under construction, were recorded despite the censorship.

“Of course the national mouthpiece should be imposing,” said one user.

“It seems the People’s Daily is going to rise up, there’s hope for the Chinese dream,” said another.

The newspaper itself has been called “Raping People Daily” by Chinese netizens for “chronically misleading the people with false reports”, according to blog Hug China.

“It was understood that the propagandists in Beijing do not like this nickname, but that they chose the bizarre design of the new headquarters reveals that it may not necessarily be so,” it said.

Unreal. But true!
Notice all the diagonals, all coming in and down. Ordinarily this would be called a Pratt Truss design, but I guess in this case we’ll have to call it a Prat Truss.

Such a building could never be constructed in America. Well, it could, but we’d build it at least 10 stories   longer  taller.

Let The Jokes Begin

and after this we’ll return to our proper mature blogging.

once upon a time there was a ‘trans-equality scrutiny panel’ Actually, there really is. now. today.

Who would have given this any thought?
Mr., Mrs., Ms? Nope. One more to be added to the politically correct list.  Mx.
You couldn’t make it up.
I heard it discussed on the radio briefly. Checked the calendar to be sure it wasn’t April 1st.
The city of Brighton has decided to use the letters (MX) adopted by the, “transgender community” on it’s paperwork after complaints that some people were being forced to choose between genders.
Seems there is something called a “trans equality scrutiny panel” which oversees such things.
What at first reads like a joke it seems is far more involved than I thought it could be. Here’s a taste and the link has the whole story.

The council’s policy and resources committee approved a series of measures, including the removal of the need for patients to choose from male or female options when they check in at electronic screens on arrival at a GP surgery.

Other recommendations include ensuring all councillors and police staff undertake trans awareness training and introducing gender neutral toilets and changing rooms, suggested by the council’s trans-equality scrutiny panel.

Just how many more awareness programs will the loons come up with before there won’t be any more time left in the day ?

the wheels of justice?

A little late now judge, in the case of those already dead. They could have been spared but for your f***** up bleeding heart attitude.

The wheels of justice(?) grind how?

Doesn’t seem like they move at all.

I failed to do my duty: Judge’s confession after the burglar he refused to jail strikes again at pensioner’s home 11 days later

· Judge said latest victim suffered because he had not done ‘his public duty’
· Steffan Jackson, 18, from Leeds, pleaded guilty to burglary

By Eleanor Harding

A judge has chastised himself for not doing ‘his public duty’ after sparing a burglar jail – only for the thief to break into another house just 11 days later.

Judge Scott Wolstenholme bemoaned his own ‘foolishly optimistic’ decision to give Steffan Jackson, 18, who had burgled his father’s home, a final chance.

The teenager, whose own mother has had to call the police about him in the past, was given a community order.

But less than two weeks later he burgled another house, this time belonging to an 87-year-old man.

It is not the first time that Judge Wolstenholme’s ‘lenient’ sentencing has caused controversy. One man spared jail for a stabbing went on to murder four people.

In 2005, he was criticised over his ‘lenient’ sentencing of murderer Mark Hobson, who was spared jail for stabbing a man and went on to kill his girlfriend Claire Sanderson her twin sister, Diane, and an elderly couple James and Joan Britton.

hi-cap: helping it go viral

Real life can make for some rough situations. This video models one: what if your home is invaded by several thugs at a time? This isn’t at all outlandish; you can find these things on the news all the time, when 3, 4, 5, 6 bad guys break in together? Hello, gang activity. Magazine restrictions could cost you your life, or the life of your family. Push back. Call, write, or email your elected weasels today.

SuperDrive?

I’ve been having problems with my built-in Apple DVD SuperDrive. After hanging out on Apple and iMac discussion boards, somebody finally said something that made sense. It’s a vertically-mounted drive. Doesn’t take much for the disk to be just 1/1000th of a micron off. So I bought an external, and horizontal, SeaTech SuperDrive. So far, so good.

Patriotic Dongs?

I kid you not!

image

You find the strangest stuff on Linkiest.com. This one is hilarious! The article title is Deep Inside The Biggest Little Dildo Factory In America. The pull-quote:

The sex toy business has never been more profitable or female-driven, thanks in no small part to Fifty Shades of Grey. But while most of the industry’s manufacturing takes place in China, Doc Johnson is doing its patriotic duty, one giant rubber penis at a time.

Guess they have to be made somewhere. I never really thought about it before. Can you imagine working there and somebody asks you ‘What do you do for a living?’ Imagine putting that on your résumé? Guess you could always lie…

image

Diana has been at Doc Johnson for 30 years. “When I first started working here, I lied to my family and said I got a job in a plastics factory.”

Not exactly a lie. It is a plastics factory! She just kept the product secret. Then there’s this guy:

image

Frank, a longtime worker, lost a finger in one of the machines. “But you know, it’s a steady job, what can I do?”

Wonder if he brings home the rejects for his wife? (I know, I’m bad. Sue me.)

So, when you’re out shopping for dildos, look for that ‘Made in the USA’ tag! Be a patriot!

image

UPDATE! What discussion of dildos would be complete without the Bob and Tom Dildo Song? (posted above the fold because harleycowboy is too wimpy to click below the fold)
