Holder OK’d search warrant for Fox News reporter’s private emails

this story just in ... from NBC news

Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday.

The disclosure of the attorney general’s role came as President Barack Obama, in a major speech on his counterterrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists.

“I am troubled by the possibility that leak investigations may chill the investigative journalism that holds government accountable,” Obama said. “Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs.”

Rosen, who has not been charged in the case, was nonetheless the target of a search warrant that enabled Justice Department investigators to secretly seize his private emails after an FBI agent said he had “asked, solicited and encouraged … (a source) to disclose sensitive United States internal documents and intelligence information.”

Obama’s comments follow a firestorm of criticism that has erupted over disclosures that in separate investigations of leaks of classified information, the Justice Department had obtained private emails that Rosen exchanged with a source and the phone records of Associated Press reporters.

But when the New York Times openly prints secret military or counter-intelligence plans on the front page - a clear act of treason - nothing happens. Oh, I forgot ... Fox News (aka “Faux Snooze” as the left calls it) is one of Obama’s enemies, one he has singled out by name many times in the past, and has given the cold shoulder to left and right.

And now, world champion Obama ass kissers NBC, the Dan “fake but accurate” Rather network, is up in arms about the actions of Obama’s Minion #1. Goodness gracious, how the worm has turned. Did they bump their heads somehow when landing under the bus? Pity.

The law enforcement official said Holder’s approval of the Rosen search, in the spring of 2010, came after senior Justice officials concluded there was “probable cause” that Rosen’s communications with his source, identified as intelligence analyst Stephen Kim, met the legal burden for such searches. “It was approved at the highest levels-- and I mean the highest,” said the law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. He said that explicitly included Holder.

Kim has since been indicted on charges that he leaked classified information to Rosen about how North Korea would respond to a United Nations resolution condemning the country’s nuclear program. He has denied the charges.

Oh please ... do we really give a damn how the Norks might react to another worthless grumpy letter from the UN? As if we haven’t seen the same reaction 50 times already? They make a bunch of noise, threaten everybody, move troops near the border, and then try to sneak another ship full of missiles to the Middle East. South Korea then moves it’s own troops, we catch the ship, and some negotiator promises them some more diesel fuel and some rice. And then they shut up. Until the next letter. If it gets really bad, the Norks capture some hiker and pretend he’s a spy, until we promise them even more rice and fuel, and then they let him go. Every. Single. Time. Such a matter of intense national security. Almost as big a risk as the Mexican guy who works down at the car wash here in town. Almost.

So that part at least is crap. The politics of intimidation coming out of Pennsylvania Avenue though is entirely real. And this is proof positive that the Empty Suit is willing to use any branch of the government to “take care of his friends and punish his enemies”, just like he promised. Thug.

Stand Tall. Be Army Proud In The UK

Post Woolwich: UK Troops advised not to wear uniform outside bases

image

funny, I always thought this was a fwench army flag

Defence sources said the order had been given that uniform should not be worn by those travelling alone, or on public transport as a “common sense precaution” immediately after the killing.

A source stressed the order was temporary while investigations into the killing carried on and the decision would be reviewed in the next few days.

Col Richard Kemp, who commanded British forces in Afghanistan, said it would be a mistake to reinstate an earlier permanent bar on military personnel wearing uniforms in public. That ban was put in force because of an IRA campaign in the 1970s and 1980s to target personnel in Britain, Germany and Holland.

Oh I dunno ... you could try issuing them weapons and ammunition ... like real soldiers.

“Personally, I would argue against it,” he told the Today programme. “As we saw in this case you don’t need to have somebody in uniform, you just need to have someone who knows a bit about soldiers and does a bit of observation in the vicinity of a barracks and you can identify a soldier very quickly.

“I think we should be right to think about ways of protecting ourselves better but I think it would be wrong to suggest we live in a state of fear of this type of attack continuing.

“I think it is possible further attacks will be inspired by this type of attack… one of the biggest priorities for the services is to look at the role of the internet in motivating people and look very carefully at which radical sites should be suppressed on the internet, as well, of course, as more direct preaching in some of the mosques in this country which has caused people to turn to radicalism and terrorism before.

“That’s another area we need to put more resources into again.”

Funny how they can go to war in other countries, but it’s too dangerous to wear their uniforms in their own country. I find this rather sickening. My idea of a post-killing “common sense precaution” in Woolwich would involve bulldozers and bayonets. And uniforms.

Today’s Bit Of Rare History

I never knew they existed ...

image

You’re looking at the trunnion stamping of a Model 1861 3 inch rifle. A cannon. Cast from steel. From the Civil War. One like this

image

The trunnions are the round stubs that stick out the side of the middle of the barrel and are used as the hinge pins to attach the gun to it’s carriage. Up until the start of that conflict, cannons had been made from either cast bronze or cast iron. The rifled field piece in the lower picture was made by the Phoenix Iron Company (who later became famous bridge builders) and is made from roller forged laminated strips of helical wrapped wrought iron. Because wrought iron has much greater tensile (stretching) strength than cast iron, these cannons were much stronger than their cast iron brethren, and almost never blew up when you fired them. And that’s a very good thing!

Unfortunately, making cannons with Damascus style forged iron barrels was quite a bit more involved than filling a mold with molten metal and then letting it cool for a week or two. And while the Bessemer process for creating steel had been invented in England a few years before the War, it hadn’t really made it across the ocean much at that point. So only a very few foundries, such as Singer, Nimick & Company of Pittsburgh, were able to use crucible steel in the volume required to make artillery. But the steel guns they cast, all 6 of them, were just as strong, durable, and light as the wrought iron ones made by PIC. Except they cost twice as much.

6 were built. One, this one, hangs on the wall at the theater in Gettysburg. (It weighs a bit over 860 pounds. Strong wall!) Two others are in McDonald Field in the battlefield park at Chickamauga; these are the two captured by Beford Forrest’s troops near Lexington Tennessee 12/18/1862. The other three have been lost to time, either melted down for scrap, buried to avoid capture and then forgotten, or in some town park somewhere covered over with a coat of paint whereupon they look just like ever other Model 1861 gun out there, and there were lots.

On Taget But Off On A Tangent

Scelping, bouching, helical welding, Hausse pendulums, roll forging, trunnions, and wootz ...  new terms added to my vocabulary today, and all related via this mysterious remark: Drew is off ironing out the kinks of the Griffen and the Phoenix on the road to Damascus.

Meanwhile, and only tangentially related, here’s a bit of modern tech that sort of excites my bullshit meter. I think there is a lot more to the story than what we’re being told here. But I could be wrong.

Self Aiming Rifle Makes Instant Marksmen

image

First time firing a gun? There’s help at hand – a new “self-aiming” rifle can help even a novice hit the target at long range on the first go. But the technology has its critics, who see it as a serious threat to public safety.

Just weeks after the firing of the world’s first 3D printed handgun, a smart rifle that allows the user to accurately hit targets up to 900 metres away has gone on sale in the US.

Made by TrackingPoint, a start-up based in Austin, Texas, the new $22,000 weapon is a precision guided firearm (PGF). According to company president Jason Schauble, it uses a variant of the “lock-and-launch” technology that lets fighter jets fire air-to-air missiles without the pilot having to perform precision aiming.

The PGF lets the user choose a target in the rifle’s sights while the weapon decides when it is the best time to shoot - compensating for factors like wind speed, arm shake, recoil, air temperature, humidity and the bullet’s drop due to gravity, all of which can affect accuracy.

[field report] Steve lines up on his target downrange—a gently swinging metal plate with a fluorescent orange circle painted at its center—and depresses a button to illuminate it with the rifle’s laser.

“Good tag?” he asks, softly.

“Good tag,” replies the spotter, watching on the iPad. He leaves the device in my hands and looks through a conventional high-powered spotting scope at the target Steve has selected. The wind stops momentarily. “Send it,” he calls out.

Steve pulls the trigger, but nothing immediately happens. On the iPad’s screen, his reticle shifts from blue to red and drifts toward the marked target. Even though I’m expecting it, the rifle’s report is startling when it fires.

A second later, the spotter calls out, “That’s a hit!”

Steve has just delivered a .338 Lapua Magnum round directly onto a target about the size of a big dinner plate at a range of 1,008 yards—that’s ten football fields, or a tick over 0.91 kilometers. It’s his very first try. He has never fired a rifle before today.

After the target has been tagged, the scope’s reticle changes to a large blue “X,” and the weapon can be fired. To actually send a round downrange to the target, you depress the weapon’s trigger. This doesn’t cause the weapon to immediately fire, though—the reticle turns red, and while keeping the trigger held down, you must align the reticle with the tagged pip. Once the pip and the reticle coincide, the weapon fires.

...

Behind the optic assembly is an entire ARM-powered embedded system that knows everything there is to know about the characteristics of the rifle and its ammunition. The tracking scope also contains instrumentation to make it aware of ambient conditions, including temperature and humidity and atmospheric pressure, the incline and cant of the weapon, and its compass heading. The only thing you need to manually enter is the wind speed and direction, using a control on the top of the scope.

Phew, for a couple of minutes there I was afraid that shooting skills were about to become completely unnecessary. Judging the wind is an art; the wind blows at an angle to your shot and never blows steadily. A moderate crosswind can push your bullet 20 feet off target at 1000 yards.

And of course the hoplophobic Luddites are quick to set their mouths to rapid-fire mode, not bothering to notice that these guns weigh 3 to 4 times as much as a typical hunting rifle, cost as much as a mid-size car, and require the shooter to get on target and hold the shot for up to 10 seconds (or more!), all of which make this technology a bit less than optimal for your typical mall shooter upper (not to mention that the whole concept is only necessary or useful at extreme ranges) ...

Matthew Lang at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, says the danger arises when the rifle falls into the hands of those who are neither hunters nor military snipers. “If it starts to find its way to individuals that plan to use it for other purposes, there will be a lot of time and money spent figuring out how to secure any public area if the number of possible snipers has significantly increased.”

But if you’d like to see what you’d see through the scope if you owned one, and how the system works, there’s an app for that.

Ok, that was my tangent on my own tangent. No word yet as to what happens when this self-aiming rifle gets mated to those new self-aiming bullets.  Now I’m going back to learning more about antique metallurgy.

europe’s cancer

Ran across a site I forgot about even tho I had made a number of past visits.  Age catching up.

Anyway ...  H/T BareNakedIslam for the article and the graphic.

There is a YT video but best watched minus the sound, if at all.

This is more on the rioting in Sweden this week. And oh btw, some muzzies in France are angry. Again.  Is there anyplace they aren’t angry?

I read LyndonB’s comment on a Drew post from yesterday.  The UK isn’t alone in the doom room.  Unless the people rise up, and THEY WILL NOT, all of Europe save possibly the Russians, are also doomed. And even they have libtards and a birth problem while islam Marches On.

UPDATE on the Muslim savages rioting in Sweden

image

barenakedislam

In the area of Husby in Stockholm Sweden, About 200 armed Muslims carried out a well-planned riot that burned hundreds of cars and buildings. The main group behind the riots, Megafonen, received City funding as a ‘youth activist group.’ Turns out the “youths” consisted of revolutionary Muslim activists whose goal was to destroy the area they live in (no doubt living on government welfare benefits).

Over 80 % of the residents are non-european immigrants, legal and illegal, mainly Arab and African Muslims. First the Muslim demand that the state build them mosques, then they demand loudspeakers to broadcast the Muslim Call to Prayer five times a day. Next they demand money, free housing and welfare money for their clans, vacation pay and cars. Next they begin to demand money and offices for their groups and community organizations.

In this case, one of the groups, Megafon organized the riots, and the leader stirred up violence against the police before she shut down her Twitter account to hide her tracks. A screen shot was saved and can be seen in the film. Rioting in the 200 burning hell hole cities called ghettos are common in Sweden.

Large masses of rioting Muslims roam in packs, set fires to trick police and fire to arrive, them they pelt the emergency vehicles with rocks, IED’s, fireworks or use guns.

Heard on the radio this morning.  With regard to the killing of a soldier here in the UK yesterday, some interviews with residents in the area explain that near by is an immigration ghetto, mostly infested with life forms from Somalia. Italics mine.  Anyway, residents say that the folks who are native born here, feel like they have fewer rights then the Somali immigrants

Rami al-Khamisi, a law student and founder of the youth organisation Megafonen, told the Swedish edition of online newspaper The Local that he had been insulted racially by police. Teenagers, he said, had been called “monkeys”.  Most are from Turkey, the Middle East and Somalia.

Well hell’s bells. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck … ?

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See

Man dead in suspected Woolwich terror attack

image

one of the killers, drenched in blood, posing for witness’s cameras

A dramatic video emerged tonight of a man with bloodied hands, carrying knives and ranting ‘We swear by almighty Allah we will never stop fighting you’, after a serving soldier was hacked to death by two men just 200 yards from an Army barracks.

The man can be seen and heard talking to the camera in footage obtained by ITV News.

It came as terrified eyewitnesses saw two men shot by police marksmen after the machete attack in Woolwich, south-east London.

It is thought that the two men waited around for 20 minutes until police arrived and then tried to attack them - but were swiftly shot by armed officers including a woman.

They apparently shouted ‘Allah Akbar’, which means ‘God is great’ in Arabic, and tried to film the attack, the BBC’s political editor Nick Robinson said.

The man is believed to have been hacked to death after a car crash. The scene of the attack is just 200 yards from Woolwich Barracks.

[local MP] Mr Raynsford said: ‘We think a serving soldier was the victim. We don’t know the circumstances surrounding the incident. We do know a number of weapons have been seized.

‘They include a gun, various knives, and a machete, apparently. The police clearly had to take action in order to try and arrest these individuals.’.
...
Luke Huseyin, 32, who lives in a block of flats on John Wilson Street, Woolwich, close to where the incident happened said he watched two men murder a man before being shot.

He said: ‘I was at home and heard a big bang. I looked out of the window and saw a car had crashed.

‘It was a blue Vauxhall. Then two black guys got out of the car dragging a white guy across the road towards the wall. One of the guys had a knife that looked about a foot long and a machete and the other bloke had a gun.

‘They started slashing him up with the knife and hitting him in the stomach with the machete. I don’t think it took long before he was dead. There were people passing by who were screaming and running away. I’ve never seen anything like it.

h/t to Stoaty the WooZle

From Sky News, it seems that A) wiser heads have finally called a spade a spade; this is now a terrorism incident, and B) From what the killer said on camera, he is a foreigner:

Woolwich: ‘Soldier Dead After Terror Attack’

Two men are reportedly heard chanting “Allahu akbar” after an attack that left a man believed to be a serving soldier dead.
7:24pm UK, Wednesday 22 May 2013

A man reported to be a serving soldier is dead and two people have been shot in Woolwich, south east London, after what is being treated as a terrorist attack.

Downing Street has called a meeting of the Government’s Cobra emergency committee after the incident in John Wilson Street, which David Cameron described as “truly shocking”.

Senior police officers are thought to believe the killing was a politically-motivated Islamist terrorist attack.

And video has emerged that appears to show one of two alleged attackers - with blood-stained hands and holding two bladed weapons - attempting to justify the attack.

“I apologise that women had to witness this today, but in our lands our women have to see the same,” he said.

Dozens of weapons - including a number of knives - and pools of blood could be seen on the ground, where a man said to be wearing a Help for Heroes T-shirt was attacked by two men.

Witnesses say the pair appeared to deliberately drive their car at the victim, before getting out with various bladed weapons and launching their attack.

Sky sources say that following their attack, as the victim lay motionless in the middle of the road, witnesses heard the pair chanting “Allahu akbar” - and asking passers-by to take photographs of them.

There are loads of witness interviews online for this ... and nearly every one says it took the police 20 minutes to arrive ... while hundreds of people watched the killers parade up and down the street.

Yeah, THAT Private Army

Not A Cop In Sight

DHS forces protect IRS office against “terrorist”??? peaceful Tea Party protest

The DHS appears to have finally found a use for all those bullets it’s been buying. At a Tea Party protest outside an IRS building in St. Louis yesterday there were no regular police – only armed Homeland Security guards.

Video footage from the demonstration at which protesters, including Infowars.com readers, chanted “no more harassment,” shows numerous DHS Federal Protective Service vehicles along with several armed DHS guards. There is not a regular police officer in sight.

The St. Louis demonstration was just one of numerous similar protests against the IRS’s punitive targeting of conservative groups that took place across the country yesterday. Homeland Security agents also kept a watchful eye on a Tea Party rally in Florida.

The DHS was supposedly founded to protect against and respond to terrorist attacks, man-made accidents, and natural disasters. It was not created to protect the IRS from peaceful protesters, but in the decade since its inception, Big Sis has morphed into an entity that polices and monitors political free speech as one of its primary functions.

Video at the source.

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”
- Senator Barack Hussein Obama, Jul 2, 2008

dumped his body in the middle of the road and left his body there.  muzzies at work?

In bed with radio on more as background noise when this aired.

Story is continuing, one person said one of the guys shouted acbar snackbar, well you know, and this is the story so far.

There isn’t much, and thankfully only one casualty. I don’t count dead muzzies as casualties btw.

Man dead in suspected Woolwich terror attack

A man has died and two are injured after police responded to a reported machete attack in south-east London.

The government is reported to be treating the assault as a suspected terrorist incident and the prime minister said it was “truly shocking”.

Eyewitnesses said a man was brutally attacked in a Woolwich street by two men who were later shot by officers.

Local MP Nick Raynsford said the dead man was a soldier at Woolwich barracks but this has not been confirmed.

Home Secretary Theresa May has summoned a meeting of the government’s emergency response committee Cobra to assess the incident.

Mrs May said she had been briefed by the director general of Security Service MI5, Andrew Parker, and Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe on the “sickening and barbaric” attack.

“It has been confirmed to me that a man has been brutally murdered,” she said. “Two other men were shot by armed police and they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.”

“Start Quote

They dragged him from the pavement and dumped his body in the middle of the road and left his body there”

James Eyewitness

Whitehall sources have told the BBC it is “a fair supposition” that the incident was a terrorist incident but police have not commented publicly on the suggestion.

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said the police view is that the attack may have been filmed and footage may exist.

According to senior Whitehall sources the people carrying out the attack were heard to say Allahu Akbar [God is Great], said our political editor.

On Twitter, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson described the attack as a “sickening deluded and unforgivable act of violence”.

London Ambulance Service confirmed one man had been found dead at the scene.

It said two men had been taken to hospital, one in a serious condition.

One of the men was airlifted from the scene, and another was taken away by road ambulance

There’s more here and a video and eye witness statement.

Sorry I can’t wait around for updates.

Update: I have just seen another very brief video, attackers (at least the one I saw) is black and made statement regarding mistreatment of muslim women and children etc. It was only seconds but it seems confirmation of islamic terror killing.  See this link, BBC/TV News.

Points To Ponder While You Connect The Dots

Was Benghazi Fast And Furious on an international scale? More than a tiny bit like Iran-Contra, except arming up militant forces with world-wide reach who are at most only one small step away from being our active enemies?

Read today’s Ulsterman Report which is just one short paragraph added to text selected from Roger Simon’s short essay at PJ Media, which just expands a bit on things we all read last fall ( link 1, link 2, link 3)

To fully understand what happened in Benghazi, we need to step back.  Ambassador Stevens was located in a CIA safehouse (otherwise known as the building burned down during attack)–that location is where on the night of the attack he dined with the Turkish General Counsel.  Why?  Why was Stevens meeting with this Turkish official? Apparently, in reports the US was gun running weapons through Turkey to aid the Syrian Rebels, but the real kicker here is that we handed over 400 tons in one shipment, to Al Queda and the Muslim Brotherhood, who are the leaders of these so called “Syrian Rebels”.  We can speculate what the Turkish General Counsel talked with Ambassador Stevens about that night—but what is clear is that the Al Queda backed forces were on scene whilst the two men dined.

The ‘Libyan forces’ called the Feb. 17th Brigade, were the extra security which manned that CIA safe house.
...
We now know that this “Brigade” is an affiliate of Al Queda and they fought under the “Black Flag” of Al Queda.

No wonder Obama wanted to sweep this “bump in the road” under the rug, and why Harry Reid called it dirty politics: If the allegations above are true, this is about 10,000 times bigger than F&F or I-C. This is outright TREASON by the Executive Branch (POTUS, SoS, State Dept), aiding and abetting known enemies of the nation.

No wonder General Petraeus had to be blackballed. He was running the CIA, and the CIA didn’t want to go along with the plan, either Part One: Arm the Libyan rebels, or Part Two: Buy back the weapons when those rebels turn out to be (d’oh!) AQ. Which the CIA (and everyone else sane on the planet) knew before a single bomb was dropped or a single cartridge handed over in Obama’s War.

[September 2011] News reports appear to confirm weeks of worries by senior White House and congressional officials that large numbers of shoulder-fired anti-aircraft missiles have gone missing in Libya.

ABC News is reporting that a secret White House meeting discussed the disappearance of 20,000 “portable, heat-seeking” missiles.

Let also not forget the idea floated around last fall that Great Hero Obama wanted this to be a September Surprise, wherein his mighty self would Free The Hostages that were planned to be taken ... before this deal soured. Which explains why General Ham had to be relieved for refusing to stand down when he heard about the attack in real time; if you send in the military to squash the AQ attackers flat, then there won’t BE any hostages that need rescuing, will there? And Obama won’t be the hero, will he?

Hardly a word or a link in this post is anything really new. It’s all from 8 months ago ... because the word got out, back then, very quickly about what really went on ... and nobody in the media would listen. And many of them still aren’t, even from their new uncomfortable positions under the Obama Bus.
But there is some really good reading and videos to watch at the links. Just to remind you how dirty this whole thing is.

Paris Nights In Stockholm

Yup, those same darned “disaffected youths” are at it again. So is the media, once again not telling us who they obviously are.

Stockholm By Torchlight
Torchlight, torch on sight
Every car I see tonight
I wish I may
Set them alight, and
KILL ALL THE PIGS AND INFIDEL JOOS AND SEEK VENGEANCE IN THE NAME OF ALMIGHTY ALLAH!! ULUULUULUULUUULUUU!!!
Have this wish I wish tonight

Riots grip Stockholm suburbs after police shooting

Rioters have lit fires and stoned emergency services in the suburbs of Stockholm for the third night in a row after a man was shot dead by police.

Incidents were reported in at least nine suburbs of the Swedish capital and police made eight arrests.

On Sunday night, more than 100 cars were set alight, Swedish media report.

Police in the deprived, largely immigrant suburb of Husby shot a man dead last week after he reportedly threatened to kill them with a machete.

The founder of a local youth group told Swedish media the riots were a reaction to “police brutality”.

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt told reporters on Tuesday that Sweden would not be intimidated by rioters.

On Tuesday night, cars were torched in western and southern Stockholm, and stones were thrown at police officers and firefighters. One area affected, Rinkeby, saw similar rioting in 2010.

Kjell Lindgren of the Stockholm police told Aftonbladet newspaper that the unrest had spread from the original rioting in Husby.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister Reinfeldt said: “We’ve had two nights with great unrest, damage, and an intimidating atmosphere in Husby and there is a risk it will continue.

“We have groups of young men who think that that they can and should change society with violence. Let’s be clear: this is not okay. We cannot be ruled by violence.”

More than 80% of Husby’s 12,000 or so inhabitants are from an immigrant background, and most are from Turkey, the Middle East and Somalia.
...
Rami al-Khamisi, a law student and founder of the youth organisation Megafonen, told the Swedish edition of online newspaper The Local that he had been insulted racially by police. Teenagers, he said, had been called “monkeys”.

Monkeys? Oh that WILL do it. For sure. I know that I personally go on a days-long arson bender whenever anyone calls me an apa. ( bonus link )

Something Went Wrong

I’ll say.

FBI Kills Associate Of Boston Bomber

During an interview???

A man from Chechnya with links to one of the Boston bombing suspects was killed early Wednesday in a FBI-involved shooting at an Orlando apartment complex.

The FBI said Ibragim Todashev was shot and killed just after midnight at 6022 Peregrine Avenue in the Windhover Apartments near Universal Orlando.

“The agent encountered the suspect while conducting official duties. The suspect is deceased,” FBI Special Agent Dave Couvertier told Local 6.

John Miller, the former FBI assistant director who now works for CBS News, said the FBI was trying to re-question Todashev at his apartment when “something went wrong.” Miller said the FBI agent fired shots, but details of the incident have not yet been released and it’s not known if Todashev had a gun.

The FBI has not confirmed the link to the Boston bombing, but Khusen Taramov, a friend of Todashev, told Local 6 that Todashev knew Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who was killed in a shootout with police near Boston days after the marathon bombing.

“Back when (Todashev) used to live in Boston, they used to hang out—not hang out—he knew him.  They met a few times because (Todashev) was a MMA fighter and (Tsarnaev) was a boxer.  They just knew each other.  That’s it,” said Taramov, who added that Todashev last spoke with Tsarnaev via phone more than a month ago.

Taramov adamantly stated that Todashev, who was arrested in Orlando earlier this month on charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, was not connected to the bombing.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) - An FBI agent in Orlando shot dead a man whom the agency says turned violent as he was being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation late Tuesday.

The suspect was identified by the FBI as Ibragim Todashev, 27, of Orlando.

FBI spokesman Paul Bresson said the agent involved in the shooting on Peregrine Avenue near Kirkman and Vineland roads, near Universal Orlando, acted on an imminent threat and shot Todashev during an interview. The FBI agent was “conducting official duties” when Todashev was shot, agent Dave Couvertier said in a statement.

A source told FOX 25 News in Boston that Todashev was being questioned by an FBI agent from Boston about an unsolved triple murder in Waltham, Mass. The source said Todashev became violent during the interview and was shot by the agent.

Even before his encounter with the FBI, Todashev, a mixed martial arts fighter, had a recent run-in with law enforcement.

He was arrested earlier this month on a charge of aggravated battery after getting into a fight over a parking spot with a 54-year-old man and his 35-year-old son over a parking spot at an Orlando shopping mall. The 35-year-old man was hospitalized with a split upper lip and several teeth knocked out, according to a report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

“Also by his own admission Todashev was recently a former mixed martial arts fighter,” the arresting deputy said in his report. “This skill puts his fighting ability way above that of a normal person.”
...
Taramov said the FBI had questioned him earlier Tuesday, but he was allowed to leave. When Taramov returned, he said he found out Todashev had been shot dead, he said.

“The FBI knows what happened,” Taramov said.

The FBI agent involved was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The FBI has sent a team from Washington, D.C., to review the incident. The team should arrive in Orlando within 24 hours, it said.

Loose ends? Ok, this Todashev guy was a semi-professional fighter, but I gather this was not the first time that the FBI had questioned him. Not even the second. And do you really believe that just one agent was there at his apartment to “conduct official business”? Especially when they know the person is prone to violence and well trained in delivering it? Given all the crap that’s shaking loose the past week or so about out of control government agencies, and all the lies, obfuscations, denials, fake recusals, and dirty shenanigans we’ve seen from Eric Holder’s DOJ ... the tinfoil hat brigade is going to run wild on this one.

CNN says that the agent killed the guy in self defense, and adds that the FBI had been investigating him/following him for “about a month”. The Boston Marathon bombings were on April 15. It was a few days until the Tsarnaev brothers were identified as the suspects, and a couple more until they were captured/killed. Today is May 22. Which sort of implies that the FBI has known about every associate the brothers had over here and digging furiously since the get-go. Phone records I’d assume. And now one of those associates is inconveniently dead.

Reminds me a lot of Robert Spencer’s The Politically Incorrect Guide To Islam, for the same kind of point by point analysis with scriptural references. Only with a better soundtrack.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
