TSA Gone Wild
A manager at the Transportation Security Administration at Dulles airport has been arrested for allegedly running a prostitution ring out of a Maryland hotel.
According to court documents, the agency had received a complaint of “very similar” activities back in 2009.
Bryant Jermaine Livingston, 39, was arrested while on the job as a supervisor of TSA agents at Dulles International Airport. The Manassas, Virginia resident, said by phone he is innocent of the charges, but declined to discuss the details of the case.
According to charging documents, on February 15th, Livingston used cash to rent a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, Md. The hotel manager recognized Livingston as a previous customer who, on earlier occasions had “groups of males and females frequently entering and exiting Livingston’s room,” according to a court document.
And then the cops showed up ...
Responding officers say they saw, “11 people inside the room [including] three naked females and four males attempting to get dressed. Multiple people were laying on the two beds and other people were sitting in chairs and standing in the room.”
Sounds pretty innocent to me. Just a dozen complete strangers getting together for an orgy. Must be one of those flashmob things.
I’m so glad that everyone at TSA is of high moral fiber.
A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration confirmed that Livingston had worked for the agency since Oct. 29, 2002, but he is now “no longer employed by TSA.”
In a subsequent interview, one of the men in the room told Montgomery County police that, “he paid Livingston $100 to enter the hotel room to engage in sexual activities.” Charging documents also say a TSA investigator told police that, “in 2009, a very similar complaint concerning Livingston was on record. The complaint alleged that Livingston was operating a prostitution ring and charging individuals $25. for sexual acts.”
$25 in 2009, and $100 in 2012. And the government says we’re not having serious inflation!
I’m waiting for Obama to stick his nose into this one too ... since Livingston could another one of those sons Teh Won never had.

Swedish woman denied ambulance because she was still conscious, dies
Swedish health authorities have come under criticism over the death of a woman whose repeated calls to emergency services were ignored because she was still able to talk.
Jill Soderberg, 22, died in her home in the town of Timra, 241 miles (389km) north of Stockholm, on January 20, 2011, shortly after she had placed her third and last call to SOS Alarm emergency services requesting an ambulance, news website The Local reported Tuesday.
However, every time she rang, as per procedure, operators connected her to Vasternorrland County nurses who deemed that she was not sufficiently ill for an ambulance because she could still speak.
“I can’t breathe,” Soderberg, who was suffering chest pains, told operators, according to transcripts of the calls. “I want you to come and help me.”
“The operator considered her to still be communicating verbally and decided that she didn’t need an ambulance,” Jill Soderberg’s mother, Annika Soderberg, said.
The elder Soderberg said she had asked SOS Alarm to explain the logic behind refusing someone an ambulance on the basis that they were speaking.
“How could you even call for an ambulance in the first place?” she said, adding, “No one could answer that one.”
So much for nationalized health care.

this is the result of not belonging to a pc religion or color. jail for nasty tweets.
No surprise that there is one law for foul, miserable Somali nigger sluts, and another for de white folks.
You may recall this episode from last year and these skanks, these filthy black slags, who beat the hell out of a girl for the crime of being white, and the idiot judge who let them off. Remember that?
Well if you don’t, here’s a damn reminder.
James Bide-Thomas, prosecuting, said Ambaro Maxamed, who started the violence, had called Miss Page a ‘white bitch’ during the incident.
The women, who are all Somalian Muslims, were not charged with racial aggravation.
Victim Miss Page said: ‘I had gone for a drink after work and then I met my boyfriend for a couple more before heading home.
‘We didn’t want to stay out too late so we went to get a taxi and all of a sudden I heard these women shouting abuse at me.‘We were just minding our own business but they kept shouting “white bitch” and “white slag” at me.
‘When I turned around one of them grabbed my hair – she literally wrapped her fingers in my hair – then threw me on the ground. That’s when they started kicking me.‘They were taking turns to kick me in the head and back over and over. I was lying on the ground the whole time, crying and screaming. It was terrifying. I thought they were going to kill me.
‘Eventually the police came but it felt like ages. Afterwards I was covered in blood and hair.
‘I had a bald patch on my head where they had yanked my hair out and I was black and blue all over.
Now then …. this unfortunate (cos he’s a white boy) is going to jail. Did he beat up anyone?
No
His crime was racial abuse on Twitter.
What he said was uncalled for. The things he wrote were hateful, there is no excusing his actions. However, because he’s the wrong race and or color, he is in handcuffs and off to jail. And even his college has dropped him.
The whole fuckin episode makes me see red. I am not saying he shouldn’t be called to account if the charges are true. He’s accused of inciting hatred, the bad boy. Oh, like ppl who ordinarily don’t hate anyone, are suddenly going to become haters based on his words. I think the judgement against him might incite more hatred then his ill chosen words. Worse yet, the charge of “racially aggravated harassment” hardly matches racially aggravated assault. But in his case, he has been sent to prison to, “reflect the public outrage at his comments.”
Well shit. There ya have it. Outrage over nasty words trumps a nasty vicious physical beating by a gang of filthy criminal scum who happen to possess the politically correct color and religion. Hey, come to think about it, there wasn’t much outrage over the beating of that girl and her boyfriend. Yeah there were many angry people, but not on this scale. And that is damned bothersome.
There are folks and conservatives among them, who have joined the bandwagon in the judicial lynching of this guy. They demand equality and an end to race hate, but play right into the hands of ppl who are haters, by this lopsided lack of punishment. Or in the case of the somali slags, no punishment at all. Bet ya they didn’t even lose their benefits.
This fellow may have acted stupidly, but he tore out no hair, kicked nobody, sent nobody to the hospital.
His crime was, “vile racist tweets.”
I have long thought the system in the USA was pretty well fucked up, especially after the OJ trial and even before that.
But this takes the prize for sure for a double standard, which the right is always being criticised for.

out of gas
Mad dash to doc office, pick up Rx for wife .... medicate etc.
Not a fun day.
And surely not fun for the folks trying to buy petrol. Or gas to us yanks.
Reminder of the oil thing with the Arabs in the 70s.
Well, this time the Arabs are us as was put so well in a movie from many yrs ago. Was it Gorky Park? Might have been.
Anyway, the Arabs here are ..... wait for it cos it’ll be a huge surprise.
Is this the sign of things to come? First petrol stations close as Cabinet minister urges drivers to fill up any spare jerry cans
· Fire Brigade Union said this advice is wrong and would be a fire risk
· The AA says motorists should not change their petrol buying habits
· Motorists seen queuing at pumps in Bristol, Liverpool and Kent
· Minister Francis Maude says a strike would put lives at risk
· Labour accuses Downing Street of fuelling mass rush to the pumpsBy JAMES CHAPMAN, GERRI PEEV and EMILY ALLEN
Forecourts across Britain have started to run dry this morning as motorists rush to the pumps ahead of a possible driver tanker strike.
It comes as a Government minister today suggested people should prepare for a fuel shortage by filling up any spare jerry cans - even though the strike hasn’t been called yet.
Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude also condemned the industrial action warning that lives would be at stake if the strike goes ahead.
Queues at the pumps came despite strong warnings from motoring organisations not to panic buy fuel. Drivers were pictured filling their cars up at petrol stations in Liverpool, Preston and Kent, while pumps ran dry at a petrol station in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Put the brakes on, right away!!! update
Want to watch the Trayvon Martin story simply disappear down the memory hole?
I think it will. Because it’s just come out that George Zimmerman is a registered Democrat. Imagine that, a Hispanic guy from Florida is an Obama voter. Who carries a gun.
The media keeps referring to this guy as a “White Hispanic”. I didn’t know there were such Baskin-Robbins flavors of people. Does this mean the MSM is going to start calling Obama a “White Black”, since he’s provably a halfrican?
This appeared in the morning paper, March 28.
Thought I should add to Drew’s post cos this is interesting in spite Al Sharpton’s incoherent screaming as aired by the BBC. Oh yeah. It’s getting played here.
Oh btw .... anyone hear anymore on the two poor Brit tourists murdered in Florida by that black thug who bragged about it?
U.S. pastor C.L. Bryant, former leader of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People, calls Reverend Jesse Jackson and Reverend Al Sharpton ‘race hustlers’ for ‘exploiting’ the shooting death of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin.
Meanwhile, Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, has applied to trademark ‘I Am Trayvon’ and ‘Justice for Trayvon’ for products including ‘digital materials, namely, CDs and DVDs featuring Trayvon Martin’.

EPA Is Out To Screw Us All
I guess I spoke too soon with that court ruling on the EPA and the coal mines. The EPA just announced it’s proposal to HALVE emissions on all future coal and oil fired power generation plants.
The Environmental Protection Agency proposed limits on greenhouse-gas emissions from new power plants on Tuesday, taking the first major regulatory action to address climate change as promised by President Obama‘s administration soon after he took office in 2009.
“We’re taking a common-sense step to reduce pollution in our air, protect the planet for our children, and move us into a new era of American energy,” EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson said in a statement released with the regulations.
The “new era” for energy will mean less reliance on coal, which currently provides nearly half of U.S. power supplies, and greater use of cleaner-burning natural gas, the EPA said in a release summarizing the rules. The agency is proposing that new fossil-fuel power plants — namely those fired by coal and natural gas — emit no more than 1,000 pounds of carbon per megawatt-hour of energy produced. That’s about the same amount of carbon emissions produced by today’s natural gas-plants and about half the amount of produced by coal plants.
“EPA’s proposed standard reflects the ongoing trend in the power sector to build cleaner plants that take advantage of American-made technologies, including new clean-burning, efficient natural-gas generation, which is already the technology of choice for new and planned power plants,” the EPA release said.
Even before EPA officially announced the rule, environmentalists were cheering and critics of the agency were jeering. The rule is sure to reignite a fight over climate change both in Congress and on the campaign trail.
Senate Environment and Public Works Committee ranking member James Inhofe, R-Okla., immediately vowed to fight the rule by introducing a congressional resolution to nullify it. “This plan is the most devastating installment in the Obama administration’s war on affordable energy: It achieves their cap-and-trade agenda through regulation instead of legislation,” Inhofe said at a hearing on Tuesday.
Hey Climate Change deniers - deny this!! It doesn’t matter what you say, what proof you’ve found that the whole Carbon thing is a lying phony scheme, it doesn’t matter that at least half the population is against it. The EPA - which apparently has the power to regulate us to death WITHOUT Congressional approval!!!!! Tyranny! - is going ahead and doing whatever the hell it wants to to fight greenhouse gases and climate change, AND YOU CAN’T DO JACK SHIT ABOUT IT, YOU STUPID WINGNUT LOSER.
The regulation, which was due to be released last July but was held up at the White House, stemmed from a settlement with environmental groups and states. The government already controls global warming pollution at the largest industrial sources, has adopted the first-ever standards for new cars and trucks and is working on regulations to reduce greenhouse gases at existing power plants and refineries.
Michael Brune, executive director of the Sierra Club, an advocacy group fighting coal-fired power, said in an interview that the regulation shows that President Barack Obama is moving to a cleaner energy future.
“It’s a strong move,” Brune said. “It means there will never be another coal plant built without new technology and it probably means even those won’t be built because they can’t compete.”Other advocacy groups, however, said the regulation was imperfect, since it “grandfathers” in existing plants.
“EPA also must focus on the main source of power plant carbon emissions—existing coal-fired plants, many of them more than 50 years old, which are responsible for nearly 40 percent of U.S. carbon emissions,” said Kevin Knobloch, the president of the Union of Concerned Scientists, who said the regulation was a historic step to “trim” carbon emissions.
Even if the proposal did result in no new coal-fired power plants being built in the U.S., the coal would be exported and burned for electricity elsewhere, contributing to global warming. Export would also increase emissions because of the pollution from the transportation.
But Republicans said the new rule could not come at a worse time, with concern about high gasoline prices and energy taking center stage in the presidential election.
Fox News on TV is reporting that the combination of old plants closing and new ones having to spend dozens of millions more per boiler to install carbon catching filters will likely cause a TWENTY PERCENT jump in the price of electricity. Oh yeah, that one won’t have any downstream economic impact at all, will it? Other than causing the price of everything to nearly double.
So I guess the energy companies will just have to build nice clean non-polluting nuclear generators instead. Oh wait, that’s not allowed.
Well then, they’ll build natural gas fired ones, using all that natural gas the Canadians want to sell us. Oh wait, we not going to get that pipeline, are we?
Well then, the whole darn Northeast seems to be sitting on a massive deep deposit of natural gas. Let’s get to frakking and get it out. Oh wait, that’s not going to be allowed either. Shit.
And Obama keeps a campaign promise after all. Allow me to quote the One, from his 2008 campaign:
And you can guess the result ... and it wasn’t any unintended consequence from some well intentioned piece of legislation. This is a purposeful, tyrannical move by a branch of the government without any oversight or voter control to destroy the nation. PERIOD.
The proposal does not cover existing plants, although utility companies have announced that they plan to shut down more than 300 boilers, representing more than 42 gigawatts of electricity generation — nearly 13 percent of the nation’s coal-fired electricity — rather than upgrade them with pollution-control technology.
Rolling blackouts much? Welcome to the Turd World you dumb crackers, population: you.
Too bad the greenies didn’t really get their way: they wanted this proposal to apply to current power plants too, which would have shut down half the power plants in the nation overnight. Way to kill the economy stone dead, fuckwits. But that’s what they really want: they want half the population to die off, and the rest of us to live shivering in caves, dressed in Renewable Resource Rags™ while eating our government supplied daily ration of bean paste. Because greenies are the ultimate Luddites: they believe that fire is bad, and anything and everything that has come from that is wrong and must be abolished.

somali pervert to sue brits and obl’s right hand man alive and happy at txpyer xpense
Idiots. Absolute and totally irredeemable too late to save legal eagle idiots bowing and scraping to the human rights court of Europe while England sinks further into the world of pc make nice and lets try and be fair to all.
Never mind the duty to protect the law abiding and the overall security of the country.
Heaven help the USA if the libtard fools who pray (it seems to me) for a one world lets all hold hands and kiss have their way. As they often seem to. If this were an isolated thing we could write it off and hope it wouldn’t happen again. But that is not the case. This case is one of many.
Oh and btw …. as long as I’m ranting about the bizarre and stupid, that Qatada fellow (pictured here with his lovely bride) that the govt. just couldn’t deport (his human rights) even though the govt. says he is a danger and a terrorist.
Just so you readers know who I am referring to.
Only a man described as Bin Laden’s right hand man in Europe is all. Right now, he’s the happiest man in England.
The man who owns the property this vermin was living in (at taxpayer expense) did not know who was living in the property until the news broke about him. When he found out he blew his top and told the powers that be here to take the scum out of his property. He wanted no part of him. Soooooo …. said terrorist was moved and is he pleased, according to his brother.
He now has an even larger abode and a more expensive too. With compliments of the taxpayer as usual.
His deportation was halted by European judges.
What a fracked up world I tell ya.
The Brits gave their all and stuck it out all through the blitz. They were brilliant with code breaking and propaganda and a never say die attitude.
And that was just the women.
They could beat Hitler at his own game, they helped save Europe and now without firing a shot they’re occupied by a Euro-weenie liberal court.
ANGER AS SOMALI PERVERT WINS RIGHT TO SUE BRITAIN
By Anil Dawar
A SOMALI sex offender who sidestepped Home Office attempts to deport him yesterday won the right to sue the Government for failing to release him quickly enough.
Bashir Barrow, 51, was originally allowed to stay in the UK after fleeing his war-torn homeland.
But instead of repaying the favour he ended up costing the country hundreds of thousands and went on the run to avoid being sent home.
Now the pervert – who once turned up to an immigration hearing so drunk it had to be abandoned – could be in line for a cash payout after the Court of Appeal gave him permission to continue a taxpayer-funded bid for compensation.
The UK Border Agency paid out £4million in compensation in 2010 for 152 cases – including many unlawful detention claims – at an average of £26,600 each.
Ukip Euro-MP and home affairs spokesman Gerard Batten hit out at the farcical situation. He said: “It is getting crazy. Not only can we not deport foreign criminals we don’t want here, but we are finding we have to pay them for the privilege of staying in the country.
“This is exactly the kind of reason that we have to get rid of the Human Rights Act.” Yesterday the Court of Appeal heard how Barrow arrived in the UK in 1995. He was refused asylum but was granted exceptional leave to remain that year and indefinite leave to remain in 2002. Within a year he was jailed for indecent assault, theft and breaching a community order. He went on to commit a string of driving offences and returned to jail in 2007.
Home Office staff had wanted to deport Barrow after his first jail term but he went missing.
By the time of the second deportation attempt, in May 2008, he had written to the European Court of Human Rights pleading for help.Strasbourg judges then ruled that sending the criminal back would violate his human rights. He was later granted bail from an immigration centre in September 2009, when a judge ruled that – although he was “a pest” – he had to be released.
Barrister Shivani Jegarajah told the appeal judges her client’s criminal record was “not serious” and he should have been released soon after the European Court ruling. Lord Justice Davis, Sir John Thomas and Mr Justice Black ordered a High Court review of Barrow’s case.

Coal For The Win
Federal Courts Smack EPA Again
Just a quickie post to help spread the goodness. US District Court has ruled that the EPA can’t (danger, non-PC term ahead!!) be an indian giver and arbitrarily rescind coal mining Clean Water Act permits once they’ve been issued.
h/t to Soylent Green, who gets to use his Dalek GTFO graphic again for the smackdown. Details are at Global Warming.
It’s high time the EPA got some heat. The place is run by rabid greenies and they are utterly out of control, even worse than the ATF or the MTA. A few thousand more beatings like this and perhaps they’ll learn their place.
Judge Jackson: “Based upon a consideration of the provision in question, the language and structure of the entire statutory scheme, and the legislative history, the Court concludes that the statute does not give EPA the power to render a permit invalid once it has been issued by the Corps. EPA’s view of its authority is inconsistent with clear provisions in the statute, which deem compliance with a permit to be compliance with the Act, and with the legislative history of section 404.”
Here’s hoping that Obama’s 2008 campaign promise to bankrupt the coal industry continues to be thwarted at every turn. Jackwad.

Rabbit’s Busy Day
Much to do today. Plenty of errands and running about, plus Greed League tonight. Won’t have much time to blog.
- What happened to Spring? We had the mildest Winter, and then it got pleasantly warm, the Forsythias are in full bloom ... and it went down to 20°F last night, with the wind howling. Brr! Let’s hope that it doesn’t frost kill the early buds, but does kill off the stink bugs that have started coming out of hiding.
- Gas prices are up again, another 4¢/gal at my local station. Damn.
- a brush fire in Colorado has killed 1 and forced almost 1000 to evacuate
- NC Congressweasel Brad Miller roots for the Taliban - if they’re playing basketball against Duke. This guy must be a graduate of the Biden School of Public Utterance. D’oh!!!
- It’s looking like Trayvon Martin may have been the instigator in the clash that got him killed. Oh, and he was violent and a drug dealer. And the baby faced photo of him that the media ran is not only old, but altered to make him look sweeter. And Zimmerman’s picture was cherry picked too, to make it look like he was in county lockup orange and this was a mugshot. Turns out that Trayvon was a 6’4” linebacker, with gold caps on his teeth and several tattoos. And on a 10 day suspension for beating up a school bus driver. Not so choir boy after all. All this has turned up in the past couple of days, but the police report that says that he attacked Zimmerman from behind and beat the crap out of him, Zimmerman’s wounds, and witness corroboration, has been available for a month now. If it were up to me, I’d arrest the media for stirring the pot. Seems like this one could be exactly the opposite of how it’s been presented. So of course his parents are mad at the police for leaking the information, which is a matter of public record IIRC? Black people, you’ve been played. Again. Be your own Breitbart and don’t accept the meme: whatever the MSM news says is probably a lie.
- Related: Horry Clap. New Black Panthers thug Hashim Nzinga, the guy who went on TV to post “wanted” posters on Zimmerman, got arrested for having a gun while being a felon. He was recently convicted of fraud. And not just any gun, it was the dreaded FN Five-SeveN, the one “made specifically to defeat body armor and kill police” if you believe the hoplophobe hype.
A New Black Panther Party leader who announced a $10,000 reward for the capture of the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Florida teen Trayvon Martin was arrested Monday outside Atlanta for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, DeKalb County Sheriff’s office said.
...
Last month, Nzinga was convicted for felony deposit account fraud in nearby Gwinnett County, Bell said. It is illegal for a convicted felon to carry a firearm in the state and police were alerted to Nzinga’s alleged possession after the store’s transaction, Bell said.
I have no idea if the fraud case was Nzinga’s first felony conviction, or even his first criminal prosecution. Guess his lawyers forgot to tell him that he had to turn in his firearms, not sell them. Meh; I think he’s got a chance, assuming it was his first felony. Any decent lawyer ought to be able to argue that having these expensive possessions taken from him without reasonable compensation is excessive punishment. Even having the police sell them for him would be a duress situation, as anyone would know they could offer the cops pennies on the dollar and not get turned down.
But “un-kudos” to CNN and other TV dopes for having this guy on, practically the very same day his felony conviction came down, and not knowing or saying a word about it. Bias, or just plain laziness?
Ok Drew, put the keyboard down, and step away from the blog. You’ve got things to do today, get ‘em done.

- Finally an actual archeologist has found a horde of Roman coins in England! 30,000 of them, buried near the ancient city of Bath. All the other finds have been due to some yob with a metal detector. Must be nice to get a little professional respect for once, doing the job that the horrid amateurs seem to do better.
- The good old Al Jazeera news folks have decided NOT to run the murder videos mysteriously sent to them, that show French jihadist Mohamed Merah killing soldiers and a Jewish family. Smart move on their part I say; that should keep any stray French JDAMs from accidentally falling on their offices. Meanwhile, French cops have arrested Merah’s brother, figuring that it takes two to tango, and at least two to jihad.
- Recovery? What recovery? Latest report shows home sales down again after a microscopic uptick the past couple months. Now prices have hit a 10 year low, down more than a full third since their bubble peak in the summer of 2006. Meanwhile, The Bernank follows Obama Rule #1 and blames somebody else: the Fed didn’t cause the housing bubble. No, Fannie and Freddie did, under Carter and Clinton’s laws, with full support from the Fed. Shades of difference to the folks now living in cardboard boxes. PS - the Bernank bears are back, to deal with QE3. A B- effort IMO.
Ok, I’m out of here. Play nice with the other children.

drop that pencil sharpener and hands in the air. do it now. oops
Her daughter’s name is ..... Scout? What kinda name is that? How come celebs are naming their offspring weird or silly names?
Oh well. I once named a cat Rover so who am I to question names?
So then, do ya think perhaps Demi should disown that miserable, ungrateful little shit and cut off all monies. See if she can get a job and work her way thru college on her own. Bet she’s die of shame if she had to work at McDees flipping burgers like many of us did in our yoot.
And then there’s an item (again) found on Red Ken.
Actress Demi Moore, 49, has turned for comfort to friends in Scientology after her husband Ashton Kutcher, 34, ran off with a younger woman.
She has received little solace during her annus horribilis from daughter Scout Willis, 20, a student at posh Brown University, Boston, who confides callously on Twitter: ‘I hate capitalism like I hate my parents but they both serve me so well.’
As King Lear says: ‘How sharper than a serpent’s tooth it is/To have a thankless child!’Labour’s mayoral candidate in the capital, Ken Livingstone, informs BBC London: ‘When I was leader of the GLC I said to Mrs Thatcher we needed broadband linking every home and city in the country.’
How prescient, considering the GLC was abolished four years before broadband became available in 1990. Indeed, the term wasn’t even in general use until 1996.
This one comes from one of my favorite people in the press.
Richard Littlejohn
Daily MailKen Wright, from Manchester, went to B&Q to buy a barbecue gas cylinder. He was asked for photo ID.
When he asked why, he was told it had been company policy since Islamist terrorists tried to blow up Glasgow Airport using a vehicle packed with bottled gas.
He produced his company ID card and his Water Authority Approved Contractor card, but both were rejected. Had he got his passport?
‘Like I always bring my passport to shop at B&Q,’ said Ken. Eventually they accepted his bus pass — and Ken left the store ‘fully equipped to blow up an airport’.
(B&Q is Home Depot or Lowes in the USA)
But for really silly stuff this has to be a favorite.
See if you don’t approve of this one for a Moonbat award.
Girl, 14, banned from buying Glee stationery because ‘lethal’ pencil sharpener ‘could be used as a weapon’
Her 18-year-old brother had to buy stationery set for his younger sister
By DAILY MAIL REPORTERA schoolgirl was refused a Glee stationery set at a shop in case she used the pencil sharpener as a weapon.
Emily Davies, 14, tried to buy the kit based on the hit TV series that contained a pen, pencil, ruler, rubber and a sharpener from a 99p Store.
But she was stunned when she got to the check-out and was told by the cashier she couldn’t buy the innocent item because she was under the age of 18.The female member of staff explained that the sharpener could be deemed as ‘lethal’ or ‘dangerous’ in the wrong hands.
Emily had to ask her 18-year-old brother, Mikey, to show his driving licence to the shop assistant to prove he was old enough to purchase the school set.
The traditional sharpener is covered in a round purple plastic encasing that has the words ‘Super Gleek’ on.
Their mother, Susan Davies, branded the exchange ‘ridiculous’.
Emily, from Poole, Dorset, had gone to the 99p store in Boscombe, Bournemouth, to buy the stationery set.
She said: ‘I went to buy the set and the cashier said I need your ID because it’s got lethal objects in it.
‘My brother was stood next to me and he said ‘I don’t get it’, and she said ‘it’s got a pencil sharpener, it could be dangerous.’
‘I have got stuff like that before for school and it was fine, I can’t really imagine someone over 18 wanting something like a Glee stationery set.
‘It was a bit unnecessary.’
Mikey said: ‘The woman asked Emily ‘have you got any ID’ and she said no and told her that she was 14.
‘I showed her my ID and I bought it instead.
‘It was ridiculous. The woman saw me take the item out of Emily’s hand, pay for it and then give it back to Emily.’
A spokesman for the national chain of 99p Stores said that they had no such age policy in place regarding pencil sharpeners, but defended the actions of the cashier in question.
He said: ‘Pencil sharpeners are not an age restricted product and if we have refused a sale on this occasion we would rather that our staff are over cautious rather than under cautious.’

Girl Accidentally Shot While Jumping on Bed
Chicago - A Southwest Side man was held on weapons charges Sunday after a gun he allegedly stowed between two mattresses accidentally went off, wounding a 4-year-old girl jumping on the bed.
Jarquise Upton, of the 6400 block of South Artesian Avenue, was charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by [a] felon in connection with the accidental shooting, police said. He was also charged possession of ammunition and theft of lost or mislaid property, both misdemeanors, police said.
The girl, 4, was jumping on a bed at Upton’s address about 12:20 p.m. Saturday when the gun discharged, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The gun was hidden between two mattresses, Alfaro said.
She was taken to University of Chicago Comer’s Children’s Hospital, where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the ankle, Alfaro said. She was listed in good condition early Sunday.
Jarquise???
Oh please.
We don’t believes
It was her ankles. Or her knees.

Such Allies
Two NATO soldiers killed by a man in Afghan army uniform in southern Afghanistan on Monday were British, an Afghan official and a Western security source said.
The Western security source, who requested anonymity, told AFP that an Afghan soldier was also shot dead, as well as the killer, at a provincial reconstruction team base in Lashkar Gah in Helmand province.
Another Briton was wounded, he added.
The deaths are the latest in a series of “green on blue” killings, where Afghan security forces turn their guns on their international colleagues, an ISAF spokesman said.
Fifteen personnel from NATO’s US-led International Security Assistance Force have died in such incidents this year, the spokesman said.
He declined to confirm the nationalities of the two latest victims, in line with standard ISAF policy.
A senior Afghan official told AFP the gunman approached the base from outside, where there was “apparently” an argument and the man opened fire.
Helmand is a stronghold of the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan but Lashkar Gah was among the first places where responsibility for security was handed over from ISAF to Afghan forces as part of a gradual transition process.
The deaths come less than three weeks after six British soldiers were killed when a huge explosion ripped through their armoured vehicle during a patrol near Lashkar Gah.
Tell me why the west is in Afghanistan again please?

Sell Out In Waiting
Crivens. This sommnabatch Manchurian Candidate bastidge has a PLAN. He isn’t incompetent, it’s all done on purpose. And he’s got such a long To Do list to break down America that the tasks are scheduled up in a queue. And the smarmy rat has the cojones to talk about that in public. Or at least in front of the press, because no matter what Chairman Zero says, the MSMinistry of Information will spin it, hide it, polish it, and tell us forever how wonderful it is.
Obama To Russia, on Missile Talks: Oh, don’t worry, after I win the election I’ll be able to be more flexible
He’s going to sell us out. It’s part of his plan. He pretty much admitted he’s only talking tough for the campaign sound bites.
Son of a moldy dog biscuit.
President Obama assured Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Monday that he’d have “more flexibility” after the November election, during a conversation that appeared to focus on the touchy issue of missile defense.
Obama, during a sit-down with Medvedev in Seoul, urged Moscow to give him “space” until after November. The conversation was relayed by a TV pool producer who listened to the recording from a Russian journalist.
“This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility,” Obama told Medvedev.
Obama appeared to be asking Medvedev to relay this point to Vladimir Putin, who recently won election to return to the Russian presidency.
“On all these issues, but particularly missile defense ... this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space,” Obama said.
Medvedev told the president he understood the “message about space. Space for you ...”
After Obama noted he’d have more flexibility in the future, Medvedev told him: “I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir.”
And let the spin begin!
The White House, though, downplayed the conversation between Obama and Medvedev.

From the outside, looking in
O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us
An foolish notion
They are six men and three women, aged between 51 and 79, and two of them have been in the same job since Ronald Reagan was in the White House.
They and their predecessors have handed down decisions that have changed the course of US history, from rulings on slavery to judgements on the Florida ballot recount which confirmed George W Bush’s victory in the disputed 2000 presidential election.
Now President Barack Obama’s political legacy is in the hands of the nine justices sitting on the US Supreme Court as it begins to consider, tomorrow, the legality of his health care reforms.
As the downfall of communism was to Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II, so the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, known by its critics as Obamacare, is to Obama.
Obama staked everything on forcing the law through Congress, against strident opposition. It enshrined, he said as he finally signed it, “reforms that generations of Americans have fought for and marched for and hungered to see”.
But this second anniversary may be its last: it may yet all be undone.
Beginning on March 26, three days of oral arguments will be heard before the Supreme Court regarding the constitutionality of Obamacare. In legal challenges brought by 26 of the states there are four questions being considered.
At the heart of all the complex legal arguments lies the continuing debate in America about the proper role of government.
Opponents ask: if the government can force citizens for their own good to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty, what’s next? Could they be required to purchase green vegetables, green vehicles, or even green tea?
If Washington can force such laws upon America’s protesting states, what was the point of all that fuss throwing off the rule of King George III, 236 years ago?
Where the lines should be drawn between such necessarily conflicting forces as individual liberty and governmental control, and between the power of the federal government and the power of the states, are not simple matters to decide. Ask anyone in Britain what they think of laws handed down from Brussels and you have an idea of it.
At first glance I figured this was yet another bash-job of us stupid and brash Yanks on this side of the big pond, but the more I read, the more impressed I was with the author’s insightful understanding of the issue, and his clear and concise presentation. I’d never seen the like in an English paper covering a distinctly American situation. Amazing.
I got down to the end of the short essay and found that the author is a former campaign strategist for Bush and McCain. So I guess it’s not from the outside at all, after all. My apologies to Mr. Burns’ long ago Louse.
Though the appointed-for-life justices on the Supreme Court should be blind to the polls and the politics behind the legal arguments, four members of the court are perceived as leaning in a conservative direction, four as being liberals (including both women appointed by Obama), and one is viewed as a swing vote.
These six men and three women will have a voice in determining not only Obama’s long-term legacy, but also his short-term future as the November election looms.
Yeah, just think of that. Should the Nine give the whole thing the toss, since the very core premise it’s all built on is in error, then that means that the entire first year and a half of his term was wasted. You know, when he wasn’t playing golf or taking vacations. All the man did was go on about the health care bill, every damn day. Every. Damn. Day. It will not bode well for November.
Have we a prayer? I know I’ll be making mine. And yet, it so upsets me to realize that I can’t with any faith say what the black robes will decide. It’s a crapshoot, and that’s very upsetting.
h/t to Peiper, who only had time to send me the link. His wife is somewhat improved, but not out of the woods yet, so we won’t be hearing much from him for the time being.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
