Mulligan?

Never Happened?

image

a couple days ago ...

Eric Holder doesn’t have a good answer for his involvement in the Fast and Furious scandal, but he has come up with an explanation for why he is the target of so much criticism.  It’s because he’s black, which he says is also why Barack Obama gets criticized, too.

Holder says he’s a convenient two-fer for Obama critics.  People identify him with the President because “you know, the fact that we’re both African American.” He also says those people who take exception with him or with Obama are part of the “more extreme segment” of America.

Of that group of critics, Mr. Holder said he believed that a few — the “more extreme segment” — were motivated by animus against Mr. Obama and that he served as a stand-in for him. “This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” he said, “both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”

Today ... it never happened, it was all in your mind?

The Justice Department decided to respond to Attorney General Eric Holder’s deployment of the race card with a statement that essentially pulls the Jedi Mind Trick and informs us that we did not hear what we heard.
...
Everyone capable of understanding simple conversational English was able to follow the plain meaning of these words.
...
[ the response of the Justice Department:] “That is a complete distortion of the attorney general’s comment. His comments both in the article and elsewhere made clear that he believes much of the criticism is launched against him are unfortunately the typical Washington gotcha game. A simple reading of those comments show he was referring to how he is identified with the president given their close relationship and all they share in common including their ideology.

The position of the attorney general has been a target for partisan attacks, and given the critical work that this attorney general he is doing at the Department of Justice, it’s no surprise that some are engaging in such tactics. His critics rightly view the attorney general is a progressive force, and given our current political environment, there will those who use any opportunity to score political points.”

Sure. Holder said that he got grief because he was Obama’s stand-in because he was black. And because he worked for him. The black part was half of his stated reason.

The parts I really like best:

This statement is much more effective if you print it on a piece of paper and spin it rapidly, forming a hypnotic pinwheel, while chugging eggnog.  It’s possible the resulting trancelike state and/or nausea might make you forget what Eric Holder actually said, or the abundantly clear context of his remarks.

The idea that Holder remained in office for one single day after the program came to light is absurd.
...
And now the nation’s top lawman plays the race card to save his hide… and his department produces the lamest, clumsiest attempt at spin to come out of Washington in living memory?

Once again, nothing to see here, move along. These are not the droids you are looking for.  Hey, how about that weather we’re having? It’s almost Christmas and I’ve got the heat off and the windows open. It must be 55° out; feels like spring.

Gon Out Bisy Backson

One of Rabbit’s Busy Days

Oh yes, that’s me for certain today and tomorrow. Granted that I can spell a bit better than that when necessary. But I’m going to be the madman with the duster and vacuum today, and a shopaholic, and a puter away of things that shouldn’t be here.

In fact, I probably won’t be back until Monday, perhaps even Tuesday. So Happy Christmas, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays to one and all.

Quarry Query: Found the Fount, Finally

Stone Age Stonehenge Stone Source Sussed

Origin of Stonehenge rocks discovered

Experts say they have confirmed for the first time the precise origin of some of the rocks at Stonehenge.

It has long been suspected that rhyolites from the northern Preseli Hills helped build the monument.

But research by National Museum Wales and Leicester University has identified their source to within 70m (230ft) of Craig Rhos-y-felin, near Pont Saeson.

The museum’s Dr Richard Bevins said the find would help experts work out how the stones were moved to Wiltshire.

For nine months Dr Bevins, keeper of geology at National Museum Wales, and Dr Rob Ixer of Leicester University collected and identified samples from rock outcrops in Pembrokeshire to try to find the origins of rhyolite debitage rocks that can be found at Stonehenge.

By detailing the mineral content and the textural relationships within the rock, a process known as petrography, they found that 99% of the samples could be matched to rocks found in this particular set of outcrops.

Rhyolitic rocks at Rhos-y-felin, between Ffynnon-groes (Crosswell) and Brynberian, differ from all others in south Wales, they said, which helps locate almost all of Stonehenge’s rhyolites to within hundreds of square metres.

The National Museum Wales and Leicester University have identified the source as Craig Rhos-y-felin, located more than 100 miles from the Stonehenge site. But this discovery, of course, just opens on to another mystery--namely, just how and why an ancient culture carved and transported the giant stones over such a great distance.

“Being able to provenance any archaeologically significant rock so precisely is remarkable,” Dr. Rob Ixer of Leicester University told the BBC. “However, given continued perseverance, we are determined that we shall uncover the origins of most, if not all of the Stonehenge bluestones so allowing archaeologists to continue their speculations well into a third century.”

For the stones getting there, I don’t think the how is really all that hard to figure out. Use a whole bunch of giant logs to lever the stones out of the ground and then roll them downhill to the nearest river, which is right there, then tie the logs together to make a raft and carry them to the sea, which is only a couple miles away. Then it’s time for a bit of a boat ride, rafting them out and around to get to the Salisbury Plain. Once back on shore the rafts turn back into rollers, and a small army of folks pushes them along.

It’s the why part we’ve been wondering for ages. Still no answers there I’m afraid.

Did the days shift somehow? This is an A&R Thursday post, and it’s only Tuesday. Ah, I know, I’ll date it forward, so it shows up at the right place and time. Save me a bit of work then.

OK, that’s a pretty interesting “A” bit(yawn?) . What about some “&R”?

Moslty Lame

A pretty lame night at Greed League. Injuries and absences. We won, 5-2, but that will leave us in 3rd place by a point.

I cut my thumb a little while carving away some of the old epoxy on my car mirror yesterday. Nothing major, but I opened a flap of skin right on the ball of my thumb. Right where I grip the bowling ball. I wore a bandage all afternoon, but I had to take it off to bowl, and by the third throw it was starting to bleed. I tried using some of that stretchy thumb tape on it, but that was even worse, and I threw 0-0, 0-9, 3-4 for the first three frames. Simply awful. I got some liquid bandage from Joe on the other team. White hot pain in a bottle, but bowlers have been using this stuff for generations to overcome cuts and blisters. It stopped the bleeding, and the pain was gone by the time it dried, but I still couldn’t get a good grip on the ball. So my bowling sucked the whole night. Really sucked. I might have made a 400 series, but then again I might not have. Awful.

Glenn’s knee was out, so he sucked too. One of our guys was out cuz his kid was sick. Three of the guys on the other team simply didn’t show up. No surprise really; it’s right before the holiday and nobody has time to spend a whole evening bowling. Duh. So with only 6 bowlers instead of 10 we were done really early, and what with the injuries and so one neither team really cared too much about it last night. So we took the first game by 130, won the second game by 34, and lost the third game by about 15. I kind of blame myself for that one, bowling more than 40 under. But Glenn was just as off. Last night was another one of those bad nights, when the winners are the team that sucks the least.

I did the full-on liquid bandage thing, complete with the little bit of very fine gauze cemented on. It’s still there, and I’m going to leave it there for another few days.

And that’s about all the blogging I have time for today. Too much to do around here, not enough time. Which is typical holidays, right? LOL

honor killing BS. it’s murder period.

So they immigrate to a civilized country but continue as always to drag along their stone age religion and foreign ways.
Worse yet, the west continues to allow them in, where they thrive and they multiply like insects on the way to becoming the majority. Who will vote.
Welcome to multi culture and diversity in the 21st century.
Muzzies won’t do us in.  The political pygmies running things in the west will do it all for them.

There is no reasoning or any possible accommodation with ignorant turd world scum.
How would it possible to try and talk reason to a jerk who think honor means killing the baby AND the family. Funny thing, don’t hear much about them killing themselves. Do we? After all, surely if they carried that much ‘shame’ they’d want to check out of this life in search of their 72 virgins. Oh no. It’s always others have to buy the farm.

Baby born to Muslim mother after affair must be adopted to stop honour killing attempts by ‘shamed’ grandfather

Unmarried mother ran away after becoming pregnant because she feared what her father would do

One-year-old baby girl will be adopted by Muslim family
Natural father wanted child to live with him and his wife
By ROB COOPER

A baby born to a Muslim mother after an affair must be adopted to prevent the child becoming the victim of an honour killing, the Court of Appeal ruled today.

The baby’s mother, who is not married, was so ‘terrified’ of how her family would react to her affair with a married man and becoming pregnant that she ran away from home.

She then concealed her pregnancy by wearing loose clothes and travelling to the other side of town for her antenatal care.

The baby’s maternal grandmother had told police that if her husband found out about the child ‘he would consider himself honour-bound to kill the child, the mother, the grandmother herself and the grandmother’s other children’.

Today Lord Justice Munby, Lady Justice Black and Lord Justice Kitchin said in a joint ruling that the child was at risk if she was not adopted.

They said if the grandfather discovered the affair ‘it would be a matter of intense almost unimaginable shame to him and his family’.

real life chucky at the age of two terrorizes school

Good grief ....

Take a look at this.
image

And then read this.

Mother’s anger as girl, three, is sent home from nursery looking like this after being beaten black and blue by a two-year-old nicknamed Chucky

Girl was taken to hospital with suspected fracture to her eye socket following attack

‘Out of control’ two-year-old is nicknamed ‘Chucky’ after violent doll from the film Child’s Play
Parents demand nursery expels ‘out-of-control’ girl after she ‘attacks 10 other children’
By KERRY MCQUEENEY

The mother of a little girl who was beaten black and blue by an ‘out-of-control’ two-year-old at nursery has called for the child’s expulsion.

Katie Ann Guttridge, aged three, sustained a bruised eye socket, scratches and three bite marks when she was attacked by her classmate during playtime at Ratby Pre-School Nursery in Leicester.

The little girl’s mother, Clara Mackow, said her daughter was almost blinded in the attack and that her injuries were so bad that she was taken to hospital with a suspected broken eye socket.

Police were called in to investigate the assault but were powerless to act because the girl who attacked Katie is below the legal age of criminal responsibility - which in this country is 10 years old.

When confronted by journalists, the mother of the violent girl refused to discuss her child’s behaviour, saying only: ‘My daughter is two years old. I want nothing more to do with this.’

‘The little girl who attacked her has a history of beating up other children. She’s out of control.

‘I know 10 other children have been assaulted by the girl since September. The staff at the nursery don’t seem able to cope with the difficult children.

‘Ironically, the little girl’s mother is a child minder with close links to the nursery and school so the staff consider her one of their own and seem reluctant to discipline her.

SEE AND READ MORE

Before long we’ll be hearing from the lawyers.
Perhaps a visit from Guido to the mommy dearest of the budding little monster might set things straight.
Might want to send him to the nursery school for a little heart to heart with the school head cos there’s something very wrong here.
If the cops can do nothing, and the school feels defenseless, the only option left is vigilante justice. And I’d vote for that were it my little girl.

Well, I was hoping…?

Just checked out an old 90’s favorite show, Tim Allen’s ‘Home Improvement’. What I really love about the show is that he can make serious problems seem so insignificant and humorous. Take this scene from the pilot episode:

Just a rhetorical question: do women come in two speeds? Reversible? If so, where can I get one? grin

debate over shooting orders in riots and arson.

It’s idiots like this and the ideology they can turn into policy that make me despair.
Actually, kinda pissed me off at the same time.  What a total and complete idiot and isn’t it typical of folks like that, to equate the subject of shooting rioters and arsonists, and extending it to ppl double parking and dropping gum on the streets.  Freekin schmuck. Putz!

This is in reference to the news which isn’t new according to the newspapers, in regard to the police having a shoot to kill okay where life is in jeopardy.

Let’s give the police machine guns. They would feel so much more secure if they could mow down a perp .... or one who looks as if he might be. It would also fulfill a boyhood ambition to get a job where you can shoot people, just like one did on computer games but for real. Also, once we let half crazed young men and menopausal older men (I refer of course to the police) play with real guns we won’t need to bring back capital punishment. Which will save lots of money wasted on court trials. Shooting miscreants dead will certainly be a powerful deterrent against all sorts of caught-in-the-act crimes, including speeding, double parking, dropping chewing gum on the pavement, wearing a hood and so on. It will make the USA with their three-strikes-and-you’re-out policy seem like a bunch of cissies.
- rob alka, London UK, 21/12/2011 10:02

I ask you. Is that stupid er what?

The Daily Mail ran this editorial today.  And the idiot head of a police association agrees.  Shooting ppl just isn’t the English way he said on radio last night.
BTW, The Mail is generally a conservative paper. Well, most of their better columnists are.

Shooting rioters is not the answer

By DAILY MAIL COMMENT

There is no greater supporter of law and order than the Mail. But is it really necessary for senior officers to say that in future riots, police may shoot arsonists who attack commercial properties linked to people’s homes?
Of course, strictly speaking they are merely restating the existing law. All British citizens (including the police) can claim a defence for killing, when it is the only way to save an innocent life.
But this is a deeply disingenuous argument. For by issuing the threat in its official review of riot-control tactics, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary is indulging in provocative – and we would say counter-productive – bravado, unworthy of the British police force’s tradition of restraint.
Goodness knows, the Mail holds no brief for rioters, who deserve the heaviest punishments the law can throw at them.
But in truth, it is almost impossible to imagine circumstances in which shooting an arsonist would be the sole means of saving a life.
On the contrary, in the vast majority of cases – as we’ve seen so often in the U.S. – when the police open fire with real or plastic bullets they only inflame unrest, leading to further loss of life.

DM EDITORIAL

If you want to, you can finish reading the rest at the link. They’re wrong, wrong, wrong PERIOD!  They only ppl who might be inflamed, aside from the hand wringing bed wetters on the left, are the criminals themselves.  What does it matter if a few hundred of them were shot dead by police during a riot? Who’d miss the bastards?

Of course, not all comments agree with the DM or the libtards. For example.

It seems CP of KENT 11.43 and other criminal-friendly posters would prefer to see the world tolerate arsonists etc. and would prefer, instead, to see the world as a “better place” without anti-arsonists and other anti-criminal complainants, like Eric Brown , 7.43? Is it any surprise that criminality is a rapidly growing “business” when they know that certain people would rather punish the complainants than punish the criminals?
- John Smith , Birmingham, England, 21/12/2011 12:12

So not all are idiots. But unfortunately the country is run by them and the left and so the only conclusion one can draw is one of hopelessness that things will improve.

The liberal gun hating left seem to forget and dismiss should they remember, photos like this. That’s because it isn’t in their back yard. That’s cos it isn’t any of them jumping out a window in fear for their life.  Miserable SOBs!

Hero of the Day

Maria Conchita Alonso to Sean Penn: You’re a Commie Asshole!

Cuban-born, Venezuelan-raised actress Maria Conchita Alonso and actor Sean Penn had a contentious exchange at Los Angeles International airport recently, in which Alonso called Penn a “communist a**hole“ and Penn called Alonso a ”pig.”

Over a year and a half after Alonso penned an open letter to Penn asking him why he supports socialist Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the two met up serendipitously (or not so) at LAX while both were waiting to claim lost luggage.

Alonso, who starred alongside Penn in the 1988 film “Colors,” described the exchange to Steve Malzberg on WMAL.

“I go ‘Hello,’ and he smiles and says, ‘Oh, you lost your bag too?” Alonso told Steve Malzberg on WMAL.  “And I’m like, ‘No, my mother (lost her bag).’ And at that moment he recognizes me because he didn’t recognize me before, and he goes, ‘Oh, it’s you.’”

Alonso says she calmly told Penn she wanted to speak with him about the tension over Chavez when Penn blew up at her.

“He goes, ‘I don’t want to talk to you.  You speak badly about me.  You insult me on TV,” Alonso said.

Alonso says the conversation escalated when Penn accused Alonso’s brother of attempting to assassinate Chavez, which Alonso says is not true.

“So I’m like, ‘You are in favor of Hugo Chavez and [Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad.’ Because I also saw a picture of footage from TV where Chavez and Ahmadinejad are together and Sean Penn is next to them.  And, you know, he‘s like ’I’ve never said that about Ahmadinejad.  You’re a pig.’ And I go to him, ‘And you are a communist, Sean Penn!’”

“The second time I called him a communist I said ‘You’re a communist a**hole,” Alonso elaborated.  She claims that while she regrets using profanity she is not sorry for calling Penn a communist.

“I’m not apologizing for calling him a communist because that is what he is.”

Silly Penn, the pampered Hollywood Red Diaper Baby. Go put up a few more tents in Haiti, m’kay? He should know better than to mess with those hot blooded Latinas. First she’d chew him out. Later on, a chola could cut a bitch, chu no? Watch your step. I just happen to agree with her 100%.

Me Time Yet?

Garbage out, recycling out. Ran the laundry, ran the dishes. Changed the sheets. Fixed the toilet, fixed the vacuum cleaner. Went shopping. Got the mail (great card from Peiper, as always! Thanks!). Cleaned the bowl.  Epoxied the *@#$! outside mirror back on my car. Damn thing breaks off every 3 years. It’s 3:30. I think I can find a few minutes to eat lunch. Or is it breakfast? Been too busy today to remember. Must remember to put out fresh towels and to clean bowling ball before league.
