One little sign and twelve words that say it all.  And does so very well.

H/T RichK

I was sent this a few days ago and was looking for a story to fit it. They are out there in plenty lord knows. However, I still was not able to fit it to any article I had. But that shouldn’t matter anyway. Should it?  This little sign says everything, and what it says is so true that I felt it could stand all by itself as a post.

70-year-old fends off knife wielding robber with iron bar, guy comes back and so gets whacked again

batbatbatbatbatbat AWARDED TO THE WOULD BE IDIOT ROBBER, ... belatedly

Would a normal, smart bandit come back?

Bravo to the old fellow for downing this jerk.  Kinda sorry though that he didn’t stop his useless breathing cos we all know in a short time, the gremlin will be out doing it all over again.

The surprise here is that the guy defending wasn’t arrested too.  Maybe violating the gremlin’s rights or some such nonsense.

This article originates in 2009.  I do not recall seeing it before or if I did, not in this form.  But it was listed in the Telegraph on line and I just thought it was good enough and even funny enough to post. And so I am.

A 70-year-old shop worker who was threatened by a knife-wielding robber fended him off by hitting him over the head with an iron bar.

Harbhajan Singh showed no fear despite being locked in the shop and having the long 12 inch blade waved in his face.
He was working behind the till of the Costcutter store when knifeman Deryk Traylen ran into the shop claiming to have a gun and took a customer hostage.

Traylen, 35, locked the shop door then went up to the post office counter and demanded money from Mr Singh’s son-in-law.
But the brave grandfather grabbed an iron bar from behind the shop counter, then crept up behind the robber and hit him on the hand to disarm him.
Traylen then pretended to leave but came back with a 12 inch knife, so the elderly shop worker hit him over the head.

“I didn’t have any fear, my daughter and family were in trouble and I had to protect them,” said Mr Singh, who has been nicknamed the Turbanator for his heroics,
“My aim was to disarm him so I hit him on the hand to make him drop the gun, but he came back with a knife, so I hit him on the head.”

BLOW IT OUT YER BACK END ……..

So, whatcha think BMEWS?
Silly thing to post maybe but, when I saw the photo and story I couldn’t help but wish I’d had that on my car way back when.  Guess I’m lucky I didn’t but the idea sure does have its appeal.  It would certainly work on tailgaters.  Not sure if he ought to be arrested on a firearms charge though. Right, I see the fire part. So I guess it’s a flamethrower after all.

Flame-thrower scooter owner arrested

Colin Furze, a plumber who adapted his scooter to shoot 15ft flames from the rear, has been arrested for an alleged firearms offence.

image

Mr Furze, 30, displayed his modified his scooter, with an anti-tailgating flame thrower operated by the flick of switch, in the press earlier this week.
But Lincolnshire Police spotted the pictures of Mr Furze allegedly riding his scooter on a public highway – and arrested him on Thursday.

He was held on suspicion of possessing an object converted into a firearm, and was released on unconditional police bail without charge until May 6 pending further police investigation.

Possession of a firearm carries a maximum prison sentence of five to seven years at Crown Court.
Mr Furze, from Stamford, Lincolnshire, declined to comment.

Speaking before his arrest, he said: ‘’Everybody wants a flame thrower on a motor bike.
‘’I don’t need a flame thrower on the back of my bike, I’m not going to set fire to people’s car’s, it’s just something interesting to do.’’

The scooter, which was built before Christmas, was Mr Furze’s third attempt at the project after the first did not ignite and the second burst into flames.
A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: ‘’A man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an object converted to a firearm on Thursday. He was released on unconditional bail.’’

Demotivators

I don’t think we’ve had a decent motovator/demotivator post since we lost the Skipper.

Mind you, I believe the Skipper created his own; I’m just passing on stuff I’ve found over the years.

With that, let’s begin!

This one’s for Macker.

Guess I had a good time…

Friday I renewed my annual chess club membership. I also stayed and actually played.

Silent no more

H/T Flapjawman:

I am one of those “typical Americans” who has lived much of my life in a political dead zone. Life has been good, and “Politics” have been in the distant background most of my life. There were stretches when I didn’t even vote. I was oblivious.

Fast forward to 2008. I smelled snake oil with Obama and I couldn’t put my finger on it, other than the shady connection with ACORN. At that time I was only getting my news from the lame stream media. The week before the election my brother & I were celebrating our birthdays, and I realized that everyone in the room (except me) was seized by the fever of Obamamania. And then my brothers liberal girlfriend singled me out by saying “with your feelings about guns do you have to vote for McCain?” Bitch, I thought. Time to educate myself about what I knew I didn’t like, but was unable to articulate.

Why is it that the so-called ‘news’ doesn’t show this?

From the Jawa Report

We face an increasing number of suicide murders here in the “Muslim world”—in places where suicide attacks were previously unheard of. Some people are coerced into suicide, such as the unfortunate women who were raped and defiled in Iraq, then shamed and coerced into suicide for the sake of “honor.” Or the case of a young Libyan, captured by soldiers from a unit I was with in Iraq. The Libyan was thankful for his capture: Iraqis were trying to force him to wear a suicide bomb.

BMEWS and BMEWSettes, clicking on that link will subject you to very graphic images. All that’s left of suicide bombers.

Tells you something, doesn’t it?

New Amendment or procedural rule? “For any bill to pass the House or the Senate, it must get at least 2/3 of the vote, and must be voted on by at least 3/4 of the legislators. Once a bill has been submitted for a vote, it can not be withdrawn, and if the bill should not win sufficient votes it will considered dead for the longer of either the remainder of that congressional session or that calendar year.”

thanks to Political Math, and to others who have written about the “tyranny of the majority”.

He’s only running for Congress… sad

Col. Allen West is running for Congress down in Florida. Here’s an example of his views:

Needless to say, this view interested me. I’ve been saying this since 9/11. This man knows his history. So I checked out his website. I specifically read his ‘Issues’ page.

I have only one question: Why is this man only running for Congress? President West sounds good to me.

EARTH HOUR IS ONLY MINUTES AWAY HERE IN UK AS MILLIONS OF IDIOTS BUY INTO JUNK SCIENCE

An article appeared in the Sat. Times which isn’t available (that I can find) saying this even will actually use up more energy and cause larger emissions. HA!

First of all .... Please go and turn on extra lights in your house for the next hour. Screw these jerks.  I already have every light in the house on as I write.

Experts say that the great switch off will not result in less energy being pumped into grids. But that when everythings gets turned back on, there will be an increase. Also they say that the upsurge in turning the lights back on one hour later will require power stations that can fire up quickly such as coal and oil. The experts say that the result will be an increase rendering all good intentions useless. HA once again.  These comments appeared under a headline which read, “Costly way to save the earth.”

OK, that’s it. Go turn on those extra lights.

Landmarks go dark, millions unplug for Earth Hour

By ROHAN SULLIVAN (AP) – 7 hours ago

SYDNEY — The white-shelled roof of the Sydney Opera House fell dark Saturday night, one of the first landmarks to turn out the lights in an hour-long gesture to be repeated by millions of people around the world who are calling for a binding pact to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

Asian cities followed Australia and New Zealand as the fourth annual Earth Hour cranked up. Buildings in some 4,000 cities in more than 120 countries were expected to unplug to reduce energy consumption and draw attention to the dangers of climate change, according to organizers.

The event will roll across the world, with participants turning off the lights when the clock strikes 8:30 p.m. local time. From a shopping mall in Manila to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Empire State Building in New York, landmarks and skylines will dim.

“We have everyone from Casablanca to the safari camps of Namibia and Tanzania taking part,” said Greg Bourne, CEO of World Wildlife Fund in Australia, the environmental group that came up with the idea that started in Sydney in 2007 and has since grown to every continent.

The shutdown is completely voluntary and street lights, traffic lights and other safety measures are unaffected.

Andy Ridley, a WWF worker in Sydney who cooked up the idea of Earth Hour in a pub with friends, said he hoped this year’s event would inspire world leaders to strive for a much stronger climate agreement than that struck at December’s Copenhagen climate change summit, which failed to come up with binding rules on reducing pollution blamed for global warming.

“What we’re still looking for in this coming year is a global deal that encourages all countries to lower their emissions,” Ridley said Saturday. “China is going to have to be a big part of that but so is every other major economy.”

China first took part in the campaign last year, and this year more than 30 cities were to switch off their lights, including those at the landmark Forbidden City in downtown Beijing.

A U.S.-born giant panda, Mei Lan, who lives at the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan, will kick off China’s participation: When she walks onto a platform in her enclosure, the lights at the breeding center will go out, said Chris Chaplin, communications officer for WWF in China.

Some 88 cities took part in last year’s Earth Hour, which has the backing of the United Nations as well as global corporations, nonprofit groups, schools, scientists and celebrities — including Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett and retired Cape Town Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

Earth Hour organizers say there’s no uniform way to measure how much energy is saved worldwide, but that the simple fact that so many places have signed up to take part should send a message to leaders that global warming is a topic of great concern to people worldwide.

In the Philippines, Roman Catholic bishops said they would urge the faithful to preserve natural resources during special prayers to be read on church-run radio for an hour starting at 8:30 p.m.

“Failure of today’s people to care for the earth’s resources is akin to stealing the future of the coming generations,” said Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales.

Residents in 1,000 towns and municipalities were expected to switch off their lights in the Philippines, with the main event taking place at a Manila Bay mall complex, including a rock concert and street party, according to WWF-Philippines.

In Taiwan, the Presidential Palace along with at least 20 skyscrapers — including the world’s second-tallest building — in the capital of Taipei switched off their lights. Hundreds of Taiwanese placed candles beside a Taiwan map formed by energy-saving LED lights at a square outside the city hall. Also dimmed for an hour were large advertising billboards in a nearby commercial district.

Amazing how easily idiots can be led.  I guess they’ll all come away thinking they’ve done something other then waste time.

Royal Marine faces jail for whooping a roadside bomber.  Great way to fight a war. War? This is War?

It’s an armed conflict in a war zone. Or something like it. What’s the point of having a war without mass bombing from the air and a policy of no prisoners unless the mood takes ya. Nuke the freeken place and be done with it and the war’s over in minutes. Make a parking lot out of the place and then start mass bombing of high concentrations of this scum in other places.  Don’t give em time to organize and plan. Don’t give em pity cos it’s wasted.

Just another damn thing to get the dander up during the wkend.  Hey, the Sgt. was right. Somebody should have shot the bastard dead right at the start.
So now two good Brit soldiers face jail. Just cos they beat up a bomb planter. What’s the big damn deal?  Screw the silly rules of war that only one side has to live by. And btw .... arrest?  The would be bomber in a war zone gets arrested instead of shot?  The Tommy is now a policeman? Bah.

Every night on the radio I hear these different folks talk about how this war is not winnable and that Brits should withdraw NOW! Sure thing and I agree because with that attitude and with sending soldiers to jail just for beating up some slime ball roadside bomber, yeah.  I’d agree that this war is not winnable.
If that’ how they fight a war these days, it damn sure ain’t winnable. In spite of the hard fighting and the bravery of Brit troops.

I’m ranting on and need to quit.  I just sympathize with the soldiers in question here. Their trial is just more bogus pc bull to soothe the left.

Royal Marines sergeant faces jail for using Wellington boot to beat Taliban suspect ‘planting roadside bomb’

By Daily Mail Reporter

A Royal Marines sergeant who beat an Afghan prisoner with a Wellington boot has been convicted of causing him actual bodily harm.

Suspected Taliban fighter Mohammad Ekhlas suffered a cut lip, two loose teeth and facial bruising after Captain Jody Wheelhouse and Sergeant Mark Leader each hit him with the rigid rubber boot.

A court martial heard the pair burst into a tent on the base where Ekhlas was being held and struck him around the head with green, size 10 boots.

The 48-year-old had earlier been captured by marines after four men were spotted ‘digging in’ an IED roadside bomb just 150 metres from their base in Afghanistan.

Ekhlas had run off and then resisted arrest when approached by two marines sent to deal with the threat, but they managed to wrestle him to the ground and subdue him.

The marines then took him to their base in Wishtan, east of Sangin, in Helmand province, before he was transferred to nearby Forward Operating Base Jackson.

There he was guarded by a troop of marines led by Cpt Wheelhouse and Sgt Leader, both of 45 Commando.

Although Capt Wheelhouse admitted a charge of causing actual bodily harm, Sgt Leader pleaded not guilty, saying he acted in self-defence against a ‘dangerous and violent prisoner’ who was trying to escape.

The court martial panel deliberated for three-and-a-half hours before finding Sgt Leader guilty of assaulting Ekhlas on March 19 last year.

During the five-day trial at Bulford Camp in Wiltshire, the court was told that Ekhlas later entered into Afghan custody and was subsequently later released.

Ekhlas was not present at the trial as he could not be found.

Prosecutor Colonel Nick Clapham told the hearing that the marines had a duty to look after Ekhlas while he was being detained, regardless of if he had attempted to kill British forces.

The court heard Ekhlas had suffered facial injuries when he was captured at around 2pm that day.

A military policeman took him two kilometres from Wishtan to FOB Jackson, where he was given a medical examination.

There Lance Corporal Ellen Chun took responsibility for him, ensuring Ekhlas had food and taking photos of his injuries before he was placed in a tent for the night.

Lc Cpl Chun told the court martial that Sgt Leader visited the tent at about 6.30pm.

She said: ‘Sgt Leader said something like “I don’t know why they brought him back, they should have killed him.” Lc Cpl Chun then left to get him a sleeping bag, returning 20 minutes later.

‘When I got a few metres from the tent I heard screaming and someone crying out - it sounded like someone calling for help.

‘I ran into the tent and shouted, “What are you doing?” The detainee was knelt in the back-left corner, covering his face with his hands.

‘There were two males next to the detainee. One of them was Sgt Leader, who was making a striking motion at the detainee with his right hand, which was holding something long and dark.

‘The two men then ran out past me.’

Lance Corporal Robert Fegan, the military policeman who earlier escorted Ekhlas to the base, said he saw the prisoner at the medical centre at 8pm.

He said: ‘His injuries were a lot more severe than when I handed him over to Lc CplChun.

‘He was streaming with blood from his face and down his torso and there was a lot more swelling down the left-hand side of his face.’

Capt Wheelhouse, based at Arbroath in Scotland, and Sgt Leader, now of the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone, Devon, will both be sentenced next month.

WEEKEND WOMEN

I don’t keep up with who’s singing what or what movie stars who.  I don’t even care.  Very often though when reading the papers, I come across women who strike my fancy and on occasion yours as well.  Maybe not all the time of course because I’m posting pretty much what appeals to me.  Sometimes it isn’t easy.
Sometimes I have too many and don’t know where to cut cos they all of em look so good. And I love lookin’ at em.  I don’t care if their hair is dyed if it looks good on them, and I have often noticed how well brown eyes do go with blond hair.  But I have to confess just speaking for me, I think fake boobs are terrible. I don’t know if women do that to themselves because of men or other women but honest ladies, I wish you’d quit that. That is NOT the first place I look anyway. Of course it’s the first place you can not help but notice when girls and women just let it all hang out.  Or pushed way up and boy does that look fake. Even when real.  So enough already.  Time for Week End Women.

I even love her name!

Off to the movies:

She’s thought to be the very last of the silent screen (USA) actresses to pass away in 2008.  She did make the transition to sound for a short time, and was not a bad actress for her day and age.  I’d heard of her only because an uncle had mentioned her name once or 2wice and confessed to having had a crush on her in his own flaming youth.  I can see why.

Alright, I admit it.  I ran this photo about a month ago. Thing is, since she’s quasi royalty and beautiful too, and since I saved the pix, I wanted to run it again just cos.  She’s either moved to or already moved to Australia.  England’s loss. I like everything about her. She’s purrfect She is;
