BULLETIN! Breaking News

Yet another one bolts for the door. This one is quite surprising. From where I sit, the CIA is still a mess, full of Liberal Democratic party supporters who are just going to continue to screw up intelligence. This bodes ill ...

CIA Director Porter Goss Resigns
Friday, May 5, 2006; 2:30 PM

CIA Director Porter J. Goss resigned today after less than two years on the job, President Bush announced at the White House. Bush said Goss offered his resignation this morning and that “I’ve accepted it.” Neither the president nor Goss, who sat to Bush’s right as he made the announcement in the Oval Office, gave a reason for the resignation.

Bush said he had established “a very close personal relationship” with Goss, who succeeded George J. Tenet as director of the CIA in September 2004. He said Goss’s tenure has been marked by “transition” as the CIA has become integrated into an intelligence community headed by a new director of national intelligence. Veteran ambassador John D. Negroponte was named to that post in 2005, taking over a position whose creation was recommended by the commission that investigated the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Bush said Goss had instilled a “sense of professionalism” in the CIA. He expressed confidence that his successor “will continue reforms” at the agency. Bush did not name a successor or indicate when he would choose one. “He has led ably,” Bush said of Goss. “He has a five-year plan to increase the analysts and operatives.”

Goss, 67, thanked Bush for “the trust and confidence” placed in him and said he thought the agency is performing admirably.

Debt Free At Last

It’s official. Britain has made the final payment on the Lend-Lease borrowing from World War II. I’ve been wondering why some of our Brit readers were in such a good mood today (Yeah you, Bulldog!). I guess they’re happy now that they have an extra $45 million each year to spend importing more Muslims to live on the dole. When are they going to learn their lesson over across the pond and at least teach the blighters how to mow grass and clean toilets?

imageimageIn Praise Of… Lend-Lease
Friday May 5, 2006
The Guardian (UK)

Britain owes its survival in the second world war to many causes. A standard list might include the bravery of our Battle of Britain pilots, the leadership of Winston Churchill, the resilience of the people - and the sacrifices of the Red Army. But there is little doubt that Britain would not have survived without lend-lease either.

Between March 1941 and September 1945, the United States’ lend-lease programme transferred some $48bn worth of war material to other nations, the largest part of it (worth some $21bn) to Britain. This was an enormous sum, nearly equal to an entire year’s UK gross national product. But it came at a price and the Americans drove a hard bargain. At one point Washington pressed for the transfer of the British West Indies in return. Though that proposal fell through, Britain did agree to give up the rights to and royalties on innovations such as radar, antibiotics, jet aircraft and nuclear research to the US as part of “reverse lend-lease”. And when the war was over, the Americans handed in their bill.

Britain has been paying off our lend-lease bill in annual instalments ever since 1950. This week the Treasury confirmed that the last payment of £45m will be made by the end of this year. Lend-lease was an extraordinarily far-sighted American move - hardly “the most unsordid act in the history of any nation”, as Churchill described it. But it was also the price of our survival. Repayment of debt may be unfashionable these days. But if ever a debt deserved paying it was lend-lease.

Click the link above and go read the comments from The Guardian’s liberal readers. It’s a hoot!

Stinko De Mayo

imageimageTo the 20 million illegal aliens squattting tax-free in America, a ‘Stinko de Mayo’ greeting:

The American public is FED UP with the invasion of our sovereign nation by third-world outlaws from Mexico.

We are FED UP with the refusal of the federal government to secure our borders, opting instead to provide big business with slave labor in the form of illegals from Mexico. This irresponsible policy leaves our nation vulnerable to terrorism, and we are FED UP with this endangerment of American lives for cheap fruit.

We are FED UP with people who are here illegally and who can not and/or will not speak English.

We are FED UP with illegals from Mexico who cost American taxpayers scores of billions of dollars every year in health care, education, incarceration, and welfare.

We are FED UP with taxpayer dollars being wasted to print documents in a foreign language (Spanish).

We are FED UP with illegals who dump their medical bills on the backs of US taxpayers and who still send $20-40 billion a year back to Mexico each year.

We are FED UP with our schools being invaded by non-English speaking children from Mexico who impede the learning process of students who genuinely belong here.

We are FED UP with the fact that federal, state and local penal systems are overrun by illegals from Mexico, again costing US taxpayers billions each year.

We are FED UP with the fact that the overwhelming majority of felony crimes being investigated in Los Angeles have been committed by illegals from Mexico.

We are FED UP with federal, state and local agencies who refuse to round up and deport millions of illegals who are destroying American culture and language.

We are FED UP with politicians, Hispanic and non-Hispanic, who coddle illegals with drivers licenses, lower college tuitons and similar benefits which only encourage more people to invade the US from Mexico.

We are FED UP with the attempted Mexicanization of America. Mexico is a third- world slum and we are FED UP with those who want America to be like Mexico!

Politicians--Democrat and Republican alike---who fail to heed the anger of the people concerning this issue will soon find themselves “former elected” officials.

Happy Stinko de Mayo---now get the hell out!

Rep. Kennedy Crashes Car Near Capitol
Rhode Island Democrat points to prescription medication
Thursday, May 4, 2006 - 11:07 p.m. EDT (03:07 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN)—Rep. Patrick Kennedy, son of Sen. Ted Kennedy, said Thursday he was apparently disoriented by medication when he crashed his car into a barricade on Capitol Hill overnight.

Rep. Kennedy said in a written statement late Thursday after media reports of the incident emerged that he had returned home after the final House votes around midnight Wednesday and taken “the prescribed amount” of sleep aid Ambien and an anti-nausea drug.

The Rhode Island Democrat said that drug was Phenergan, “which in addition to treating gastroenteritis, I now know can cause drowsiness and sedation.”

“Sometime around 2:45 a.m., I drove the few blocks to the Capitol complex believing I needed to vote,” he said. “Apparently, I was disoriented from the medication.”

- More of this crap at CNN...

He may or may not have been drunk, but like any Kennedy, he has put alot of thought into how to get out of the laws that you and I must abide by.  By claiming he was “going to a vote” he was invoking this from section 6 of the US Constitution:

The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.

Pigs At The Trough

When it comes to pork in the budget, the US Senate is part of the problem not the solution. Once again, this dishonorable bunch of spendthrifts went out of their way to carve out a little pork for a few pet projects while attempting to provide emergency funding for the war and hurricane relief. Where is the line item veto when you really need it?

Not surprisingly, Democrats jumped on this budget and gave it 100% support. Only 20 Republicans, however, had the sense to walk away from the pig trough. Keep in mind that these b**tards can vote themselves a pay raise any time they want (actually, they’ve rigged it so pay raises are automatic unless they vote against them). Are you sick and tired of this behavior from the Senate yet? If so, let them know. Mail a rancid pork chop or two to your US Senator today. Let them eat cake pork ...

imageimageSenate Defies Bush on Spending
$109 Billion Bill for Wars, Storm Relief Disdained in House
Friday, May 5, 2006

(WASHINGTON POST)—The Senate ignored President Bush’s veto threat yesterday and easily passed a $109 billion emergency spending bill for war and hurricane recovery costs that also brimmed with favors for farmers, the fishing industry, and the states of Hawaii and Rhode Island.

The two-week debate that preceded yesterday’s 77 to 21 final vote was marked by an election-year surge in targeted spending on behalf of constituents and special interests, despite repeated warnings by fiscal conservatives about a swollen budget deficit.

The Senate added money to rebuild a highway in Hawaii; protect riverbanks in California; upgrade a hurricane barrier in Providence, R.I.; and compensate New England shell fishermen for their losses from a red tide outbreak. The Senate also took steps to make farming less risky by offering compensation for virtually any scourge, including drought, flood, wildfires and pestilence.

The next step for the Senate is a potentially rancorous final negotiating session with the House, where Republican leaders greeted the Senate package with scorn. House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) called it “dead on arrival” and said his chamber “has no intention of joining in a spending spree.”

House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) promised a final bill that does not spend “one dollar more than what the president asks for, period.”

If the threats hold, senators will have to accept a final bill that is nearly $15 billion less than the legislation approved yesterday. The House package, which passed March 16, came in slightly below Bush’s original $92.2 billion request, at $91.9 billion.

The Senate bill arrived on the floor last week at $106.5 billion but grew through a series of amendments. Bush did sign off on one additional measure, $2.3 billion for pandemic flu preparations.

The bill’s original intent was to provide funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and to help Mississippi and Louisiana rebuild after Hurricane Katrina. Ever since the Iraq invasion in March 2003, the administration has insisted on paying war-related expenses through ad hoc supplemental spending bills. It contends that the conflicts are temporary and that military costs cannot be anticipated well enough to be included in the regular budget process.

- More pork news from the WAPO ...

And just who were the biggest piggies in this porkfest?

A Worthy Cause

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Jimmy Carter is without a doubt the absolute worst President we have ever had. Giving away the Panama Canal, allowing the Mad Mullahs to take over in Iran and holding our people hostage for three years, caving in to the Soviets - the list goes on and on. The worst part is he just won’t shut up and go away. Hanging out with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, buddying up to Hamas and finally - launching into a blistering attack on President Bush at Correta King’s funeral. Somebody needs to do something to get this idjit’s attention and a Congressional Censure is a good start. If that doesn’t work, we can always revoke his citizenship and ship him off to Cuba. I’ll gladly donate the airfare ...

imageimageCensure Carter Campaign Starts Today

(SAN FRANCISCO) – The ad campaign to propel Congress to censure former President Jimmy Carter will be launched this Friday, May 5th. This is the first wave of ads released by the Censure Carter Committee (website: www.CensureCarter.com) which call on Congress to adopt a resolution of Censure against former president Jimmy Carter. The ads will be airing on Fox News Channel throughout Friday and into the next week.

The Censure Carter website contains extensive documentation on Carter’s ongoing pattern of interfering with American foreign policy pursuits since Carter left office.  “Since leaving office, President Jimmy Carter has repeatedly undermined U.S. foreign policy, criticized the missions of the men and women of the United States Armed Forces, as well as embracing known terrorists and terrorist organizations,” the website states.

The website details Carter’s call for international funding for the Hamas-led government in the Palestinian territory; his efforts to advance the agenda of the late PLO terrorist Yasser Arafat; his defense of Saddam Hussein’s regime in Iraq, opposition to UN sanctions imposed on Iraq, and fraternizing with Iraqi intelligence agent, Samir Vincent; his interfering with efforts to stop North Korea from developing nuclear weapons; and his alliances with Marxist dictators Hugo Chavez in Venezuela and Fidel Castro in Cuba.

Melanie Morgan, who leads the organization sponsoring the Censure Carter effort, the pro-troop organization Move America Forward (website: www.MoveAmericaForward.org), said Carter’s conduct demands a congressional reprimand.

“Jimmy Carter’s efforts to undermine American foreign policy have been shameful.  Carter dishonors our troops when he attacks their noble efforts to combat Islamic terrorism.  Carter emboldens our enemies when he sympathizes with the plight of Islamofacist regimes and terrorist organizations in the Middle East,” said Melanie Morgan.

Since the launch of the Censure Carter campaign, more than 50,000 Americans have already signed the Censure Carter petition, and many thousands more are expected to join the effort following the national TV ad blitz that begins on Friday.

“With A Whimper” -by- Cox & Forkum

“You came here to be a martyr and die in a big bang of glory. But to paraphrase the poet T.S. Eliot, instead you will die with a whimper.”
-- U.S. District Judge Leonie Brinkema

Moussaoui tried to get in the last word as he was led from the courtroom for the last time. “I will be free, and my liberation will be proof that we are the soldiers of God, and you are the army of Satan. I will see you before the end of George W. Bush. Before his end, I will be out,” he said.

Lisa Beilke, whose husband, Max, died in the Pentagon attack, replied, “In your dreams.”

The Sins Of The Past

This story bothers me. How many of us can honestly say we have never done anything we were later ashamed of? How many of us have done things out of sheer desperation in our daily struggle that we later regretted? This story really bothers me because it sends a message of intolerance and unforgiveness. I really feel sorry for this young lady. The only consolation I can offer her is that she is a much better person than those school administrators who somehow managed to totally forget the lesson of Mary Magdalene. Two thousand years later we’re still stoning women for the sins of their past. Be ashamed ...

imageimageTeacher Fired For Making Adult Movie 11 Years Ago

(WBIR-TV)—A western Kentucky high school teacher fired for being in an adult movie several years ago says she has since turned her life around.

Tericka Dye had taught science at Reidland High School in McCracken County for the last two years. But school officials recently learned that she participated in an adult film made 11 years ago when Dye was 23.

Schools superintendent Tim Heller says he decided to fire Dye because her presence in the classroom would be a distraction. Her pay was also suspended for the rest of the school year.

Dye says she made the film while struggling to make ends meet. She says she was also coping with depression. She says she joined the Army shortly after and then put herself through school.

Several students held a rally in support of Dye near the school yesterday. One parent at the rally, Bonnie Chilcoat, says Dye was a great teacher who’s done a great job with her students.

Why Ask Why?

If a Republican supporter leaks classified information, it’s “damaging to national security and results in an indictment” ....

Plame’s Outing Damaged National Security, Dems Say
May 03, 2006

(CNSNews.com) - Following reports that former CIA operative Valerie Plame had been tracking Iran’s nuclear proliferation efforts when her cover was blown, Democrats are demanding to know how much damage Plame’s “outing” did to national security.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) on Tuesday asked CIA Director Porter Goss to send Congress a damage assessment. A two-year investigation led to the indictment last October of Vice President Dick Cheney’s aide, Lewis “Scooter” Libby, who is charged with lying and obstructing justice. Democrats have been clamoring for Karl Rove’s indictment as well.

If a Democratic supporter leaks classified information it’s “holding government accountable and results in a Pulitzer Prize” ....

CIA Officer Fired After Admitting Leak
Officer allegedly failed polygraph, admitted giving reporter information
April 21, 2006

WASHINGTON (NBC) - In a rare occurrence, the CIA fired an officer who acknowledged giving classified information to a reporter, NBC News learned Friday. The officer flunked a polygraph exam before being fired on Thursday and is now under investigation by the Justice Department, NBC has learned.

Intelligence sources tell NBC News the accused officer, Mary McCarthy, worked in the CIA’s inspector general’s office and had worked for the National Security Council under the Clinton and and George W. Bush administrations.

The leak pertained to stories on the CIA’s rumored secret prisons in Eastern Europe, sources told NBC. The information was allegedly provided to Dana Priest of the Washington Post, who wrote about CIA prisons in November and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize on Monday for her reporting.

Sources said the CIA believes McCarthy had more than a dozen unauthorized contacts with Priest. Information about subjects other than the prisons may have been leaked as well.

As The World Turns

Homosexuals to Howard Dean: “You don’t love us enough!” - Howard Dean to Homosexuals: “You’re fired!” - Homosexuals to Howard Dean: “Ooh, you’re such a meanie! I hate you, I hate you!” - Howard Dean to Homosexuals: “Blow me!”

Don’t you just hate it when lovers quarrel in public? Do you need any further proof that the Democratic Party is the party of whiners, complainers, losers and idjits? Stay tuned. This bunch will probably be on Jerry Springer next week.

Dean Fires Dems’ Gay Outreach Chief
Shakeup follows criticism by partner; Bond named replacement
May 3, 12:31 AM

WASHINGTON—Democratic Party Chair Howard Dean on May 2 fired the party’s gay outreach advisor Donald Hitchcock less than a week after Hitchcock’s domestic partner, Paul Yandura, a longtime party activist, accused Dean of failing to take stronger action to defend gays. Dean immediately hired gay former Democratic Party operative Brian Bond to replace Hitchcock, according to DNC spokesperson Karen Finney, who called Bond a “proven leader.”

Bond served from 1996 to 2003 as executive director of the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, a bipartisan national group that raises money and provides training to help elect openly gay candidates to public office. “It was not retaliation,” Finney said of Hitchcock’s dismissal. “It was decided we needed a change. We decided to hire a proven leader.”

Hitchcock declined comment Tuesday night except to confirm that Dean informed him May 2 through a surrogate that he had been terminated. He said he was considering consulting an attorney to decide whether to contest the firing. “This is retaliation, plain and simple,” said Yandura. “This shows what they think about domestic partners.”

Yandura said Tuesday night that Dean was using Hitchcock as a “scapegoat” for problems of Dean’s own making. “All I did was ask questions about what the party and Dean are doing about its GLBT constituency, Yandura said. “I have yet to see any answers.”

Hitchcock’s dismissal came after Yaundura created a stir among party activists, both gay and straight, by sending an open letter on April 20 to gay Democrats criticizing Dean and the party for not getting involved in state ballot measures seeking to ban gay marriage.

Yandura charged that the DNC failed to counter efforts by Republicans to promote the anti-gay ballot measures as a wedge issue to win elections. He suggested that gays withhold donations to the Democrats until the party formally addresses issues he raised.

Snakes On Fire

Somewhere in my personal arsenal around the apartment is a my own solution to pesky reptiles like this and it does not involve any flammable liquids or matches. It’s a Mossberg Model 500 .410 shotgun and is guaranteed to convince slithering intruders to go elsewhere. This woman’s solution, although scoring 20 points for creativity, can be somewhat messy.

imageimageYou Move It: Woman Sets Snake on Fire
May 4, 2006, 7:48 AM EDT

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)—After being told by her apartment complex management that it was not their responsibility to remove a snake from her porch, a woman set the reptile on fire and caused $1,000 damage to vinyl siding.

Shatavia Kearney, 19, called the Charter Landing Apartments office Sunday and asked someone to remove a snake from her porch. Police said she was told to deal with the situation herself, The Florida Times-Union reported Wednesday

So Kearney doused the snake with a flammable liquid and set it on fire, according to a police report by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. In the process, the vinyl siding caught fire and was charred and melted in two places. No one was charged and the snake got away.

“… and the snake got away.” Mheh-heh-heh-he-he ....

Obituary

imageimageEarl Woods
1932-2006

CYPRESS, Calif. (AP)—Earl Woods, who was more determined to raise a good son than a great golfer and became the architect and driving force behind Tiger Woods’ phenomenal career, died Wednesday morning at his home in Cypress, Calif. He was 74.

“My dad was my best friend and greatest role model, and I will miss him deeply,” Tiger Woods said on his Web site. “I’m overwhelmed when I think of all of the great things he accomplished in his life.

He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband and friend. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him, and I’m honored to continue his legacy of sharing and caring.”

Earl Woods was more than a golf dad, more than a zealous father who lived vicariously through his son’s achievements.

He had played catcher for Kansas State, the first black to play baseball in the Big Eight Conference, and he had been a Green Beret for two tours in Vietnam.

But he felt his true purpose was to train Tiger, and he watched his son evolve into the dominant player of his time—the youngest player to win the career Grand Slam—and one of the most celebrated athletes in the world.

In addition to giving us one of the greatest golfers of modern times, Earl Woods lived quite a life himself. They don’t make them like that any more. R.I.P.
