Luke, I Am Your …. Mother

One of the “progressive” blogs in the northwest called Blue Oregon seems to think Condaleeza Rice is some creepy dominatrix or is actually Darth Vader because of the sexy black outfit she wore in Germany today.

Au contraire, mes amis! We have proof of Darth Vader’s real identity ....

BMEWS Oscar Preview

image

This Sunday night, the Hollyweirdos will gather in front of the TV cameras, dressed in all their fancy designer clothes and massive jewelry collections to pat each other on the back and engage in the world’s biggest circle-jerk in front of all the great unwashed masses in “flyover country”, who will be glued to their TV sets jealously wondering who will win the coveted Academy Awards .... or maybe not.

Personally, I have more important (and more entertaining) things to do Sunday night .... like trimming my toenails and cleaning out the most recent science experiments in my refrigerator (what the hell is that gray stuff that grows on tomatoes after only two weeks in the fridge?).

For the full list of nominees, click here. Anyway, in the “For What It’s Worth Department”, here is my take on the pictures and “actor-persons” nominated this year. Let me know how I did on Monday.

Best Picture:

“Finding Neverland”: I’ve seen all of the nominated pictures except this one. I (mistakenly) thought it was about Michael Jackson’s home and when I saw it starred Johnny Depp, I crossed it off the list. However, some people who saw it say it was pretty cool. However, “pretty cool” doesn’t win Oscars. Dark horse candidate at best.

“The Aviator”: Somehow, the image of Howard Hughes with Leonardo DiCaprio’s high squeeky voice just didn’t click with me. Alan Alda played a fairly convincing evil Congress-Critter and Cate Blanchett did an impeccable impersonation of Katie Hepburn. The story was fairly accurate but DiCaprio pretty much ruined it for me. His interpretation of Howard Hughe’s descent into madness left a lot to be desired. The kid just can’t act. For a better view of a man’s greed and disintegration into insanity rent “Treasure Of The Sierra Madre”. DiCaprio could take several lessons from Bogart.

“Sideways”: Make no mistake about it, guys. This is a “chick flick” in disguise. Two men go on a trip through wine country in California prior to one of them getting married. The only problem is the guy who is about to get married wants to use the trip to bed as many women as possible before getting hitched and the other guy is a neurotic, nutless basket-case who hasn’t recovered from a recent divorce. That pretty much sums it up. Of course, they get their nuts in a wringer with some chicks they pick up and by the time the credits roll, you’ll be squirming in your seat wondering how in the hell you let your girlfriend/wife talk you into paying $20 for two tickets to watch this embaressment to guys everywhere.

“Million Dollar Baby”: this is one of Clint Eastwood’s better movies. I admit I thoroughly enjoyed it .... up until the ending (which I won’t disclose). Unfortunately, it is that ending that will probably keep it from winning an Oscar (there is already quite a controversy brewing over this ending). The overall acting was excellent and Hillary Swank will steal your heart away. She should get Best Actress for this one. Clint already has an Oscar for “Unforgiven” so the Academy will probably pass over him this time. I do urge all of you to see this flick though .... just have your crying tissue ready for the ending.

“Ray”: You all know I’m a huge fan of Ray Charles so you can understand if I say I was prepared to absolutely hate this film. I was prepared for another of Hollywood’s glossy, piss-poor tributes to an artist. I was wrong. The movie delves into Ray Charles’ life and pulls no punches .... but does so in a tasteful, honest manner. Jamie Foxx gives the performance of a lifetime and deserves the Oscar for Best Actor. I think Ray would be proud of the movie and the actor who played him .... even though it brings up moments in the great soul singer’s life that he would probably rather never have happened. A fine tribute .... and my pick for Best Picture. Hell, you should see it just for the soundtrack .... What’d I Say?

Overlooked Picture: Finally, what would the Academy Awards be without one picture that everyone should see but received no nominations. Last year, I said that picture was “Secondhand Lions” and this year I have another fantastic picture that somehow escaped Hollywood’s attention .... “Ladder 49”. It is a beautifully made tribute to firefighters everywhere and Joacquin Phoenix displayed outstanding talent in the lead role. John Travolta also starred in this magnificent movie but Phoenix is the character to watch .... until the ending. Sometimes life just sucks .... especially if you have a dangerous workplace.

So there you have it, troops! Let me know what you think and if you stay up to watch this overhyped four-hour extravaganza Sunday night, drop me an e-mail to let me know how my predictions came out. In return, I’ll give you an update on my attempts to grow penicillin in my fridge. Do we have a deal?

Status Of The Benevolent Dictator

Well, it’s raining outdoors.

I’ve blogged up a storm so far this morning.

Answered a shitload of emails and comments.

Already took my folks shopping and did some for myself.

Can’t work in the yard (too wet)

No clothes to wash (did it yesterday)

The house is pretty clean

What to do? What to do?  It’s still morning.

Oh!  I could sweep the garage!

NAH!  Screw it.  Time for a gin and tonic.

See y’all later.  Hope I don’t get too pissed.

If I rant and rave, then you know what to blame.

Education…Is It Coming Down To This?

I almost shit when I read that Tampa Bay Bucs cheerleaders put on a show at one of our local elementary schools, politically correctly named using an Indian term, Chocachatti (which I call Choke a Chicken).

You, alert readers that you are, may be wondering, “I give, Vilmar?  Why are we wasting taxpayer dollars bringing cheerleaders to an elementary school?”

AHA!!  See, I knew you were smart!

With FCATs looming over public schools like a starved albatross over a Boston fish market, educators are straining to finesse students into a Zen-like state that hovers between utter carelessness and mortal terror.

Can you FUCKING believe it?  Cheerleaders were at the school in order to lower the level of stress on the “poor widdle chilluns” because they have to take a test.

WHAT PURE UNADULTERATED BULLSHIT!!!

I’ll bet every male teacher found an excuse to leave his classroom, though!

For those that are not familiar with it, FCAT is a test given to several different year groups of kids to determine their English and math skill proficiency.  It’s no wonder the article states that teachers and kids dread it.

Can’t have any measurable way to determine if kids are learning, can we?  And the teachers?  Of course they dread it.  Their jobs are on the line---and they should be.

Common Sense In Ozzie-Land

I wish Australians the best of luck in their endeavor to push through a law in state parliament:

“to repeal a law banning vilification against homosexuals, arguing the measure is being abused to stifle free speech.”

It’s about time and is a small step required to be taken in order to stop this leftist tilt we see prevalent in seemingly everything today.

Read why they are doing this here.

College Professors In The News

AssWard Churchill has a new butt buddy in academia and apparently this other asshole is getting awards for saying outrageous things, too.

M. Shahid Alam, professor of economics at Northeastern University, was honored by the National Lawyers Guild with their Free Speech Award on Thursday.

I wonder who is doing background research on this guy?  I would not be surprised to find out he has toes to terrorists. We know he’s a leftist because he:

wrote an article equating the 9-11 suicide-hijackers with American colonists who fought the British

Oh, and this “GUILD?” Guess who they defended?

New York lawyer Lynne Stewart, a member, on charges she helped a radical Egyptian sheik Omar Abdel Rahman pass secret messages to his followers urging terrorist attacks.

If the terrorists were “freedom fighters” then why doesn’t this professor go back to one of those shit-packing, camel humping armpits of humanity in the Middle East.  Muhammed and Achmed would love to make his acquaintance.

While you’re at it, read Ben Shapiro’s piece on liberal academia to see why when one man says women lack aptitude in certain fields they demand his head yet when another calls terrorists heroes it is free speech.

On the subject of goat fornicating Muslims, Joel Mowbry tears into CAIR for going after the producers of the TV series “24” (I LOVE that show!!) yet not saying anything to condemn Islamic sheethead terrorists.

So let’s see now:  on the list of useless organizations that should be destroyed..............CAIR, the UN, NAACP, ACLU, NAMBLA, DNC.

Which ones have I missed?

Addenda:  PETA, ELF. NARAL, NPR, PEW charitable trust, Greenpeace, Move-On.Org

Agenda For Bloggers In 2005

Let’s hope that with determination and perseverance bloggers can force enough change in the system so that when we look back in 2006 the 10 most under-reported stories compiled by WND will have a different tone to them.

Once you see which ones they were for 2004 you will understand why the MSM needs to be taken down.

Typical Krauts

Imagine if this sets a precedent and American airline companies start suing the government because their flights are delayed due to the President’s need to fly somewhere?

Apparently Kraut Airways, Lufthansa, is doing just that saying it lost money because it had to delay flights.

Something does not seem right though.  They say they had to cancel 92 flights and delay over 300 others.  How fucking inefficient are they, anyway?  I smell unions in here somewhere.  And a lot of government bureaucracy.

Granted, when the president comes to Tampa, flights are put on hold until AF 1 lands but then things go back to normal.  But canceling 92 flights?

Hell, even businesses are getting into the act saying their sales were awful.

Of course, what else can we come to expect from these socialist shit-weasels?

A Little Late For Regrets

Doug “Dick"-Wead now regrets having played the tapes of private conversations with President Bush some years ago.

He says he feels really badly.

Somehow I get the impression some guys in dark suits and sunglasses knocked on his door late one night and reminded him of the story where this guy wakes up with a horse’s head on his bed.

DickWead says:

“I am asking my attorney to direct any future proceeds from the book to charity:”

Ummmmmm, “future” proceeds?  How about ALL proceeds, asshole, to include anything you made from interviews and advances?

What he did was not right as it does not solve any crimes, does not assist in investigations, etc.  It was a blatant violation of privacy and for that he should be ashamed.  And sued!

Annie Gets Her Gun

What more can I say?  Annie drags out the big cannon and shoots holes in the hypocritical MSM.

This week it’s because of the MSM’s attack on blogs and bloggers.  I guess they are pissed off that bloggers have basically signed the death warrant on biased big name reporters and are keeping the pressure on them.  Eason, Rather, Raines all fell or are falling.

So what does the MSM do?  Go after that nitwit Jeff Gannon.

Read how she excoriates them.  Believe me, you’ll enjoy it.  Especially when she tears into Maureen Down and Air America for their outright lies and stupid hypocrisy.

Going Where No Other Fists Have Gone?

Once you get past the mental image of one Congressman (Cadman) shoving his fist up another’s (Vigil) ass, continue to read this article and tell me if I am over reacting a bit about being pissed off at the tone of the piece.

It’s obvious the author has no love of the Republican party for the simple reason he says this:

Well, of course Vigil should have apologized immediately, too.  But an individual’s responsibility to do the right thing is not contingent on others acting first. What is shocking is not only Cadman’s reluctance to express regret but the fact that he wasn’t absolutely mortified by what he’d stooped to say.

So in other words, if someone offends me and I fire back some expletive, then I am the one who has to apologize?  What fucking planet does this assmunch live on, anyway?

Oh, that’s right!  The MSM planet where we must appease all who transgress against us.

I’d Pay For This

I am a very visual person.  Colors and mixes of colors please me (but don’t ask me what goes with what; in that endeavor I am totally useless.)

SO it is with some degree of envy that I read about this gal.  She can eat, feel and smell in color!

Would lettuce taste green, I wonder?  Or brown?  That’s be a bit disconcerting to say the least---a serious disconnect from the visual.  But if you were chilly would it still feel “blue” or maybe chartreuse?

Nevertheless, if scientists could perfect the ability to allow us, would you?

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
