Barking Moonbat Of The Week
See the man in the photo below. The one on the left. That’s Joe Wilson. He thinks we should negotiate with the terrorists in Iraq. Maybe get down on our knees and plead with them to stop killing people. Joe is our nominee for Barking Moonbat Of The Week this week because he obviously is suffering from brain damage to think that the terrorists just need a group hug and a few bars of “Koombayah” to get them to play nice. As for the other person in the picture, we hear she has no name but is known as “006”, has a license to kill and reports to some mysterious person named “M”.
Joe Wilson: US Should Negotiate
With Iraqi Terrorists
June 15, 2006
Washington (CNSNews.com) - Former U.S. Ambassador Joseph Wilson, whose wife was at the center of a CIA leak case that led to the indictment of Vice President Cheney’s top aide, argued Wednesday that the U.S. needs to bring Iraqi insurgents and their “foreign patrons” to the conference table for negotiations.
During a panel discussion at the liberal Take Back America conference in Washington, D.C., Wilson said diplomatic efforts to establish Iraq as a democratic power in the region should also include “the Egyptians, the Jordanians, the Saudis, the Iranians ... the Turks, probably some leading powers from Europe and Russia, all of whom have interests at stake.”
Wilson, a former U.S. diplomat in Iraq and ambassador to Gabon, has been a leading critic of the Bush administration since his wife, Valerie Plame, was outed as a CIA operative in 2003. He alleges that the White House leaked her identity as payback for an op-ed he wrote in the New York Times arguing that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction.
Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the former chief of staff to Vice President Cheney, was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice, perjury and making false statements in the aftermath of the Plame leak case, but this week Karl Rove, President Bush’s top political adviser, learned that he will not be indicted in the case.
“Make no mistake about it, if you still support the [war] policies of this president and this administration, you don’t deserve the vote of Democrats, independents or, shall I say, even Republicans,” Wilson said, echoing a larger theme of the three-day conference.
Several organizations passed around informal pledges asking conference attendees to promise not to vote for a candidate in the 2006 election who does not support an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

You Scream, I Scream, We All Scream For …
Today’s Stoopid Criminal Du Jour is brought to you courtesy of the Richmond, Texas police department who pulled over poor Oscar and found more than a cherry on top of Oscar’s ice cream sundae. Ice Cream A La Crack Cocaine. Now Oscar is off to prison where he will probably lose another cherry. Don’t worry, though. I won’t mention the crack in that cherry. Bwah-hah-hah-ha-ha-ha-ha ....
Man Charged With Having Crack in Sundae
June 16, 2006, 6:57 AM EDT
RICHMOND, Texas (AP)—This banana split was topped with something more potent than just a cherry. A motorist was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance after he was caught with two rocks of crack cocaine he had stashed in his ice cream dessert.
Oscar Martinez, 41, of Richmond, had been pulled over by police officer David Bentley late Sunday after he failed to stop at a pedestrian crossing on the campus of Wharton County Junior College.
Bentley discovered that Martinez had a suspended driver’s license and an outstanding traffic warrant. Richmond police spokesman Sgt. Lowell Neinast said Martinez told Bentley that he wished he could finish the banana split he had in his car.
When Bentley saw the melting banana split on the front floorboard of Martinez’s car, he noticed that it was topped with a square-shaped object that turned out to be crack cocaine.
“One of the crack rocks was sitting right on top of the bananas,” Neinast told the Fort Bend Herald-Coaster. “Once he found the first crack rock, he figured there were more inside. He emptied it out and there it was.”
Martinez was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, a traffic warrant and possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone, a third-degree felony. He was released from the Fort Bend County Jail after posting an $8,500 bond, Neinast said Friday.
“I’ve been doing this for 20 years and I could give you all kinds of stories, but this is really one of a kind,” Neinast said. “But true.”

Breaking News: House Vote
The vote was 256-153. The troops are doing good, Iraq is part of the war on terror and no timetable for withdrawal. Too bad the Donks were against all of that. Remember that in November ....
House Rejects Timetable for Iraq Pullout
Jun 16 11:28 AM US/Eastern
(BREITBART) - The House on Friday handily rejected a timetable for pulling U.S. forces out of Iraq, culminating a fiercely partisan debate between Republicans and Democrats feeling the public’s apprehension about war and the onrushing midterm campaign season.
In a 256-153 vote, the GOP-led House approved a nonbinding resolution that praises U.S. troops, labels the Iraq war part of the larger global fight against terrorism and says an “arbitrary date for the withdrawal or redeployment” of troops is not in the national interest.
“Retreat is not an option in Iraq,” declared House Majority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. “Achieving victory is our only option, for the American people and our kids.”
“Stay the course, I don’t think so Mr. President. It’s time to face the facts,” House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California answered, as she called for a new direction in the conflict. “The war in Iraq has been a mistake. I say, a grotesque mistake.”
Four months before midterm elections that will decide control of Congress, House Republicans sought to force Republicans and Democrats alike to take a position on the conflict that began with the U.S. invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein in the spring of 2003.
Democrats denounced the debate and vote as a politically motivated charade, and several prominent Democrats joined Pelosi in saying they would vote against the measure because, they said, supporting it would affirm Bush’s “failed policy” in Iraq.
Balking carried a risk for Democrats, particularly when they see an opportunity to win back control of Congress from the GOP. Republicans likely will use Democratic “no” votes to claim that their opponents don’t support U.S. troops.
Republicans and Democrats alike explained the decision, as each side saw it, that voters have to make in November. “The choice for the American people is clear; don’t run in the face of danger, victory will be our exit strategy,” Rep. Mike Conaway, R- Texas, said. Countered Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.: “It’s not a matter of stay the course. It’s a matter of change direction.”

Words You Cannot Use: Deviancy
Your Attention, Please! You are hereby required to remove from your vocabulary the following word as it pertains to persons of alternative lifestyle, also known as homosexuals. It seems they are offended by the term and have alerted the Politically Correct Police to that fact. The PC Police are herewith ordered to arrest and imprison anyone using the word in public. Punishment may include either 200 hours of community service or having to watch an entire season of “Queer Eye For The Straight Guy” and write a report on “The Benefits of Homosexuality” of no less than twenty single-spaced typed pages, describing in detail how you think homesexuals have truly benefited mankind over the course of history.
de·vi·ant
adjective: Differing from a norm or from the accepted standards of a society.
noun: One that differs from a norm, especially a person whose behavior and attitudes differ from accepted social standards.
[Middle English deviaunt, from Late Latin dvins, dviant-, present participle of dvire, to deviate; see deviate.]
devi·ance, devi·an·cy n.
-- American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language
Deviant behavior is behavior that is a recognized violation of social norms. Formal and informal social controls attempt to prevent and minimize deviance. Crime, the violation of formally enacted law, is formal deviance while an informal social violation such as picking one’s nose is an example of informal deviance. It also means not doing what the majority does or alternatively doing what the majority does not do. For instance, behaviors caused by cultural difference can be seen as deviance. It does not necessarily mean criminal behavior.—Wikipedia
So why are we bring this to your attention? Read the news story below from the Washington Post and learn why another word has been expunged from your dictionary. We urge you not to deviate from this new verbal proclamation in any way shape or form.
Metro Board Member Fired for Comment on Gays
Friday, June 16, 2006
Maryland Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. yesterday fired Robert J. Smith, his appointee on the Metro transit authority board, for referring to gay people as sexual deviants on a cable television show. “Robert Smith’s comments were highly inappropriate, insensitive and unacceptable,” Ehrlich (R) said in a statement less than five hours after the controversy erupted during a Metro board meeting. “They are in direct conflict to my administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, tolerance and opportunity.”
At the Metro meeting, board member Jim Graham, who represents the District, had called for Smith to disavow his remarks or apologize or for Ehrlich to remove him. “As someone who cares deeply about human rights, and as an openly gay elected official . . . I cannot remain silent in the face of these comments,” Graham said, reading from a prepared statement. Smith acknowledged after the meeting that he had referred to homosexuals as “persons of sexual deviancy” during a political round-table discussion on a Montgomery County cable show that was shown on Sunday.
“Homosexual behavior, in my view, is deviant,” he said. “I’m a Roman Catholic.” Smith said his comments had been part of a discussion about a proposed ban on same-sex marriage. “The comments I make in public outside of my [Metro board job] I’m entitled to make,” he said. His personal beliefs, he said, have “absolutely nothing to do with running trains and buses and have not affected my actions or decisions on this board.”

Liberal Wing-Nuts
Representative Bernard Sanders is a prime example of what is wrong with Liberals ... whining, complaining, name-calling and lies on top of lies and the damned liars who tell them.
First, he claims that Liberals are “progressive. That is complete bulls**t. If anything, Conservatives are the real progressives in today’s political climate. Liberals have become regressive nihilists.
Second, he believes that any station that carries Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity is some kind of restricted format “Conservative radio station”. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those “right-wing nuts” are on hundreds of stations whose main format is music, news and other entertainment.
Third, Al Franken (a.k.a., “Frankenstein") and Air America are quickly sliding into oblivion and losing stations that will carry the shows because people just flat out don’t want to listen to that Liberal drivel. You can’t force people to turn on their radios and listen to Franken, Garofolo and others of that ilk. Listeners want to hear facts, honest opinions and get information not propaganda.
Sanders seems to think there is some kind of dark conspiracy to keep Liberals off the air. Nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, it is people like Sanders who refer to Conservatives as “right-wing nuts” and who insist on equal time when the Liberals only use that “equal time” to spew hatred of Conservatives and offer absolutely nothing worth listening to.
Most importantly, Liberals already control most of the mainstream media like the three major television networks and newspapers like the NY Times and the LA Times. Liberals controlled what Americans heard from the media for way too long. Now that they’re losing audiences to Conservative commentators they are crying “foul”. What else can you expect from the Liberal Wing-Nuts?
Liberals Urged to Take on ‘Right-Wing Nuts’ on Talk Radio
June 15, 2006
(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bernard Sanders (I-Vt.) challenged liberals attending the “Take Back America” conference to take on the “right-wing nuts” on talk radio and demand that local radio stations and newspapers provide “alternative points of view.”
“The fight to allow people to hear different points of view is as important as any other fight, so I would urge people at the grassroots to start taking on the local media,” Sanders said during a panel discussion Wednesday on the topic of media reform.
“If you have a right-wing station in your community, you’ve got to go up to those people and say, ‘You’ve got to give us alternative points of view,’” he stated. “If you have a newspaper in your community that does not allow columnists from a progressive perspective, you’ve got to go challenge those people.”
Sanders added that liberals in the audience should tell people in the media “that you’re prepared to speak out against those advertisers who are supporting right-wing stations unless other points of view can be heard.” Still, the Vermont congressman noted that “we are making progress” in getting liberal viewpoints heard across the country.
“If we were sitting here six or seven years ago,” the term “talk radio” would have meant “Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ollie North and all the right-wing nuts who would have occupied 98 or 99 percent of the space out there,” Sanders said. “Well, you know what? Things have changed,” Sanders said. The liberal network “Air America is doing very different talk,” and several progressives are being broadcast on a variety of media outlets.
Nevertheless, Sanders admitted that he is unhappy with the number of liberals on the air. “This is a divided nation,” he said, “so why isn’t half of talk radio progressive?” The congressman also noted that progressives are “making real, real progress in dealing with the issue” of “smaller and smaller numbers of multinational media conglomerates owning and controlling what the American people see and hear in the media.”
“If you are concerned about the environment, if you’re concerned about the decline of the middle class, if you’re concerned about health care, you must be concerned about corporate control over the media,” Sanders said. “We are not going to be able to address any or all of those issues unless you have a level of political consciousness in America, and a consciousness which is developed by people having access to different ideas that they’re not getting today,” Sanders said.

How To Get A Head

Two Killed in Severed Head Crash in Idaho
June 16, 2006, 2:26 AM EDT
BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The severed head of a man’s wife flew from his pickup truck Thursday when he crashed into an oncoming car, killing the driver and her child, police said. The investigation of the deadly wreck and the head, which was tossed onto the roadway by the impact, led police to the decapitated body of 47-year-old Theresa N. Time in the garage of the home she shared with her husband, Alofa Time, said Nampa police Lt. LeRoy Forsman.
A Boise police officer was driving behind Alofa Time’s truck on a busy road when he noticed the man’s erratic driving and then watched him slam into the car, said police spokeswoman Lynn Hightower. Time, who was not injured in the crash, told officers that he also was involved his wife’s death, officials said. An autopsy was scheduled next week to determine Theresa Time’s cause of death, Canyon County Coroner Vicki DeGeus-Morris said.
Time was being held on two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Samantha Nina Murphy, 36, and her 4-year-old daughter Jae Lynne Grimes, both of Boise. Murphy’s other daughter was injured and was in stable condition at a Boise hospital. “It was one of the more horrific and complex crime scenes on memory,” Hightower said. “A woman and her child killed in a crash, and a severed head from an earlier homicide: It’s nothing short of bizarre and tragic.”

Time To Frog-March
"Urge”, my aching back! Frog-march this sorry sack of crap out of the capitol and book him. This has gone on quite long enough, if you please. The moron was caught on film taking bribes and later found with the cash in his freezer. Bring an indictment, get a mug shot and try the S.O.B. If it was good enough for Tom DeLay (who was indicted on charges that were a whole helluva lot shakier than this idjit’s case) it’s good enough for Jefferson.
The silly asshat is even now trying to bargain to keep his chairmanship on the powerful House Ways & Means Committee “in the family” by turning his seat over to a fellow Louisiana Democrat. The unmitigated gall and arrogance of Donk politicos sometimes amazes me. Most egregious of all is the quote below where the Donks say, “I don’t think this has to do with race - members of the Democratic Caucus are above and beyond that.” Translation: “We’re not racists, we’re just your everyday, average criminal.” Argghh!
Party Urges Jefferson To Leave Committee
House Democrats Vote Against Target of Probe
Friday, June 16, 2006
(WASHINGTON POST) - Democrats voted last night to strip Rep. William J. Jefferson (La.) of a plum committee assignment while he is embroiled in a federal bribery investigation. The 99 to 58 vote followed weeks of public and private wrangling, as Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) sought to take a strong election-year stance on ethics, while Jefferson’s allies—mainly fellow members of the Congressional Black Caucus—protested that he was being singled out for unfair treatment.
Jefferson left immediately after voting and said he would spend the evening considering his next move. “I’m just going to go to my office,” Jefferson said. “I’m just going to wait and see.” If he refuses to step aside from the Ways and Means Committee, as urged by the Democratic Caucus, the next step would be a vote on the House floor to remove him from the prestigious committee. Even his allies want to avoid that.
Black Caucus members said their concern was the lack of any rule pertaining to lawmakers in Jefferson’s situation. He has not been indicted in the case but could face serious charges. Jefferson says he is innocent of wrongdoing.
Before the Democratic Caucus met, Jefferson offered to resign under two conditions: that a rule be written establishing that any member under investigation may be asked to step aside, regardless of whether charges are filed; and that Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-La.), whose district adjoins Jefferson’s, be named his temporary replacement on Ways and Means.
Pelosi declined the offer.
“Our concern is that the rule is really political expediency,” said Rep. Melvin Watt (N.C.), chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Rep. Danny K. Davis (Ill.) said the legal question was foremost. “I don’t think this has to do with race,” Davis said. “Members of the Democratic Caucus are above and beyond that.”

House Boots Jefferson From Committee
Jun 16, 12:42 PM EDT
WASHINGTON (AP)—The House stripped Democratic Rep. William Jefferson of his committee seat on Friday in an unprecedented action against a lawmaker ensnared in scandal, but not under indictment. The move came on a voice vote, without debate, and capped an election-year effort by House Democrats to seize the political high ground on the issue of lawmaker ethics.
Jefferson had refused to step aside voluntarily from the powerful House Ways and Means Committee before the corruption probe was completed. The drive to remove him from the committee, led by the Democratic leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California, sparked protests by black lawmakers who said Jefferson was being singled out unfairly. Jefferson had no immediate response to the vote. On Thursday night, he issued a statement criticizing Pelosi over the “unprecedented and unfair nature of her request for me” to step aside.

Karl Rove Won’t Be Frog-Marched
Across White House Lawn
By John Gibson (FOX NEWS)
Wednesday, June 14, 2006
Karl Rove won’t be frog-marched across the White House lawn, much to the disappointment of Ambassador Joe Wilson. One supposes his wife, former secret agent Valerie Plame, might have something to say about this in her forthcoming book for which she was to receive a $2.5 million advance. Oops, that deal with Crown Publishers evidently fell apart.
Well somebody will buy the book, one supposes, especially if she is to renew her husband’s demand for Rove to be frog-marched or his head on a stick or whatever chest-thumping overstatement he has made over the last couple years of this drama.
But it begs the original question: When Joe Wilson went public that he had been sent to clear up the matter of Niger possibly selling yellowcake to Saddam and it was the vice president’s office which sent him, was the vice president entitled to say: I didn’t send that guy to Niger. It was his wife, and she is in that group of CIA people who are opposed to the president’s policy in Iraq?
I think the vice president was entitled to do precisely that. I think we — the public — were entitled to know how Wilson got that mission to Niger, and whatever his secret agent wife had to do with sending him ought to have been out in the open. If that required revealing that Wilson had a secret agent wife, well then, so be it. She had to be revealed.
But that notion incensed the ambassador. He raged that his wife, the mother of his children, had been targeted in political retribution and that Rove was at the bottom of it, so Rove had to be marched off to jail. Joe Wilson was against regime changing Saddam. Had been since ‘91. Once his wife maneuvered to have him sent off to investigate a key reason for the war, the public had a right to know who sent him and why.
She had become a political operator by helping to arrange her anti-war husband for the mission. Would I be wrong to suspect the people who hate Bush and Rove won’t let this die? The idea of jailing anybody so close to Bush is just too precious to let it just go away.

Stoopid Criminal Du Jour
Most of you who have opened bank accounts recently know you have to produce three forms of ID when you do so. This is to protect the bank from opening a bank account for some terrorist or even worse - a homeless person.
Our Stoopid Criminal Du Jour obviously got his wires crossed because in the process of robbing a bank he inadvertenly left behind the three forms of ID he would have needed had he wished to open an account there. Some people just aren’t cut out for a life of crime.
Fortunately, this fellow will have plenty of time to learn a new trade - while in prison ... where he will probably reside for the next 10-20 years. Adios, moron!
Police: Bank Robber Leaves Birth Certificate Behind
Robbery Also Caught On Tape
8:39 am PDT June 15, 2006
INDIANAPOLIS (KGTV) - Nobody ever said criminals are smart. Police have made an arrest following a bank robbery in which officials said the robber left behind some incriminating evidence.
The crime was captured on surveillance video., but police identified their suspect, Rodney Harper, 31, without the tape because of what investigators said fell out of his pocket during the holdup.
“He actually came to the bank to rob the bank with his birth certificate,” said Marion County sheriff’s Capt. Phil Burton. “He dropped a check cashing card as well as a bill from a phone showing he paid his phone bill.” The video shows the identification falling out onto the floor when the man pulls out his gun.
“One of the employees actually stepped on it so he didn’t realize what he dropped,” Burton said. Police said Harper got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, but it was recovered, covered in dye, not far from the bank. Harper called 911 on Tuesday as police surrounded his home.
“I’m wanting to turn myself in. The police are outside the house right now. I just wanted to let them know I don’t have any weapons. I just want to come out,” Harper told a 911 dispatcher. Burton admitted that the robber’s missteps made investigators’ job a bit easier.
“When they actually rob a bank with their ID, which they leave for us, that’s very helpful,” Burton said. Investigators said Harper robbed the Charter One Bank Saturday, dropping his birth certificate, check cashing card and phone bill in the process. Harper was already on parole after a 1995 bank robbery.

Target Acquired And Locked
Get another body bag ready. The next clown in the Al-Qaeda shooting gallery has popped up. The military already has him pegged and the special forces teams are already at work on tracking him down. There will be a lot of sleepless nights for this asshat in the near future ... but that’s alright because he will get all the rest he needs when he joins Al-Zarkwad and their 72 raisins. My best advice to this thug is this: when you see the red dot on your wall ... it’s already too late.
You absolutely have to give it to Al-Qaeda for total insanity, though. First, they try to rally insurgents in Iraq with a Jordanian criminal who massacred more Iraqi Shiites than Americans and now they’re importing an Egyptian criminal. Most Iraqis have a long enough memory to remember the 1950’s when Egyptian President Nasser sent terrorists into Iraq to destabilize the country and destroy the government because Iraq refused to join Nasser’s short-lived United Arab Republic. This should be interesting ...
U.S. Identifies al-Zarqawi’s Successor
June 15, 2006, 10:53 AM EDT
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)—The U.S. military said Thursday the man claiming to be the new al-Qaida in Iraq leader is Abu Ayyub al-Masri, an Egyptian with ties to Osama bin Laden’s deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri.
Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said al-Masri apparently is the same person that al-Qaida in Iraq identified in a Web posting last week as its new leader—Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, a nom de guerre.
Al-Muhajer claimed to have succeeded Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was killed in a June 7 U.S. airstrike, and vowed to avenge him in threatening Web statements in recent days.
The military showed a picture of al-Masri wearing a traditional white Arab headdress at a Baghdad news conference. The Afghanistan-trained explosives expert is a key figure in the al-Qaida in Iraq network with responsibility for facilitating the movement of foreign fighters from Syria into Baghdad, Caldwell said.
He has been a terrorist since 1982, “beginning with his involvement in the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was led by al-Zawahri,” Caldwell said. The spokesman added that raids in April and May in southern Baghdad recovered material confirming his high-level involvement in the facilitation of foreign fighters.
“Al-Masri’s intimate knowledge of al-Qaida in Iraq and his close relationship with (al-Zarqawi’s) operations will undoubtedly help facilitate and enable them to regain some momentum if, in fact, he is the one that assumes the leadership role,” Caldwell said.
He said, however, that al-Masri’s ability to exert leadership over al-Qaida cells remained unclear and there were other “al-Qaida senior leadership members and Sunni terrorists” who might try to take over the operations.
Caldwell singled out Abu Abdul-Rahman al-Iraqi, who in the past had been identified as al-Qaida in Iraq’s deputy leader in statements by the group, and Abdullah bin Rashid al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Mujahedeen Shura Council—five allied groups in the Sunni Arab-dominated insurgency.
Post-al-Zarqawi Raids Kill 104 Insurgents
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)—American and Iraqi forces have carried out 452 raids since last week’s killing of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and 104 insurgents were killed during those actions, the U.S. military said Thursday.
Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, a U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said the raids were carried out nationwide and led to the discovery of 28 significant arms caches. He said 255 of the raids were joint operations, while 143 were carried out by Iraqi forces alone. The raids also resulted in the captures of 759 “anti-Iraqi elements.”

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
