De-spamming SPAM?

When people use words like "algorithms, amino acid sequences, DNA and spam" all in one article I want to both fall asleep and pay attention.

However, despite this dichotomy, these guys may be on to something.

Lies, Kerry, The Media and Bias

I knew it would come down to this sooner or later. We now have a bunch of vets accusing one another of lying.

But, hey! They are not gods. They are human and humans engage in this sort of behavior. It's up to us to either believe them when they discredit others or not. We may believe what both are saying in their discrediting of one another, too. It'll then boil down to either party line affiliation or voting for the side that lied less.

Here are a couple of examples.

A few days ago Tom Harkin (Dummycrap from Iowa) launched a verbal tirade against VP Cheney saying Cheney had no right to criticize The Poodle's war policies because Cheney got deferments which kept him from military service. He went so far as to call Cheney a coward.

OK, that's to be expected.

But then we find out Harkin, in an interview while he was a Congressman, claimed to have served in Vietnam ONE YEAR flying F-8s and F-4s doing recon and combat air patrol missions.

Well, someone did a little digging. Mr. Harkin was NEVER in Vietnam because his only decoration was the National Defense Service Medal (given to ALL personnel who serve.) If he'd been stationed in Vietnam he'd have gotten a Vietnam Service Medal or Campaign ribbon. Seems all Harkin did was serve in Japan.

Will we hear in the news about how the pot (Harkin) is calling the kettle (Cheney) black? Don't count on it. Yet you will get TONS of replays of Harkin calling Cheney a coward, though!

Now let's turn the tables a bit.

One of the vets who accused Kerry of lying by saying his boat never came under fire seems to be lying himself. Larry Thurlow accused The Poodle and his boat of never having come under fire (actions for which The Poodle got a Bronze Star--as did Thurlow.) A review of Thurlow's military records shows that his citation for the Bronze Star indicating ALL boats in that vicinity (to include The Poodle's) had come under fire.

So there you have it.

Lies and counter lies.

But watch to see how the press will latch on to this report and attempt to discredit all anti-Kerry vets with the broad brush of lies and deceptions.

Funny how they never did so with Michael Moore and his movies, eh? I guess lies made by the favored media elite party can be forgiven. Those made by the other party will forever be paraded out as signs of their duplicitousness, lack of credibility, outright dishonesty, blah, blah, blah.

Meanwhile, I can't help but remember the brouhaha created by the media DEMANDING President Bush release his records. Day after day after day we'd read about all sorts of efforts by the media to discredit the President's service. Where is the media in DEMANDING John Kerry release all HIS military records?

(ZZZZZZZZZ..............SNORE............ SNORT..............Cough..................ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ)

One last thing.

If you don't believe the media is complicit in hounding Bush about his records and giving Kerry a free pass on his, see this.

Numistmatic News

I don't quite understand this phenomena but for the past couple of years I've noticed people have this fascination for the new state quarters. They go so far as to pay MORE than the quarter is worth---for a quarter already in circulation and full of scratches. I could understand paying more for a "MS-62 proof" or a "brilliant uncirculated" version. But a scratched up one?

Just down the street from me this guy has a garage sale every month (I'm about ready to turn his ass in for violating county ordinance which states only 2 sales per year) and he ADVERTISES state quarters-----and people buy them!!!

What's the big deal, anyway?

HOWEVER.............................................

When THESE types of quarters (below) get released then I, too, will begin collecting them and will overlook my neighbor's law breaking.

Quote Of The Day

"The worst moment for the atheist is when he is really thankful and has nobody to thank."
-- Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828 - 1882)

On This Day In History

August 19, 1934 - Adolf Hitler Becomes President Of Germany
On this day in 1934, Adolf Hitler, already chancellor, is also elected president of Germany in an unprecedented consolidation of power in the short history of the republic. In 1932, German President Paul von Hindenburg, old, tired, and a bit senile, had won re-election as president, but had lost a considerable portion of his right/conservative support to the Nazi Party. Those close to the president wanted a cozier relationship to Hitler and the Nazis. Hindenburg had contempt for the Nazis' lawlessness, but ultimately agreed to oust his chancellor, Heinrich Bruning, for Franz von Papen, who was willing to appease the Nazis by lifting the ban on Hitler's Brown Shirts and unilaterally canceling Germany's reparation payments, imposed by the Treaty of Versailles at the close of World War I. But Hitler was not appeased. He wanted the chancellorship for himself. Papen's policies failed on another front: His authoritarian rule alienated his supporters, and he too was forced to resign. He then made common cause with Hitler, persuading President Hindenburg to appoint Hitler chancellor and himself vice-chancellor. He promised the president that he would restrain Hitler's worst tendencies and that a majority of the Cabinet would go to non-Nazis. As Hindenburg's current chancellor could no longer gain a majority in the Reichstag, and Hitler could bring together a larger swath of the masses and a unified right/conservative/nationalist coalition, the president gave in. In January 1933, Hitler was named chancellor of Germany. But that was not enough for Hitler either. In February 1933, Hitler blamed a devastating Reichstag fire on the communists (its true cause remains a mystery) and convinced President Hindenburg to sign a decree suspending individual and civil liberties, a decree Hitler used to silence his political enemies with false arrests. Upon the death of Hindenburg in 1934, Hitler proceeded to purge the Brown Shirts (his storm troopers), the head of which, Ernst Roem, had began voicing opposition to the Nazi Party's terror tactics. Hitler had Roem executed without trial, which encouraged the army and other reactionary forces within the country to urge Hitler to further consolidate his power by merging the presidency and the chancellorship. This would make Hitler commander of the army as well. A plebiscite vote was held on August 19. Intimidation, and fear of the communists, brought Hitler a 90 percent majority. He was now, for all intents and purposes, dictator.

August 19, 1953 - CIA-Assisted Coup Overthrows Government Of Iran
The Iranian military, with the support and financial assistance of the United States government, overthrows the government of Premier Mohammed Mosaddeq and reinstates the Shah of Iran. Iran remained a solid Cold War ally of the United States until a revolution ended the Shah's rule in 1979. Mosaddeq came to prominence in Iran in 1951 when he was appointed premier. A fierce nationalist, Mosaddeq immediately began attacks on British oil companies operating in his country, calling for expropriation and nationalization of the oil fields. His actions brought him into conflict with the pro-Western elites of Iran and the Shah, Mohammed Reza Pahlevi. Indeed, the Shah dismissed Mossadeq in mid-1952, but massive public riots condemning the action forced the Shah to reinstate Mossadeq a short time later. U.S. officials watched events in Iran with growing suspicion. British intelligence sources, working with the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), came to the conclusion that Mossadeq had communist leanings and would move Iran into the Soviet orbit if allowed to stay in power. Working with Shah, the CIA and British intelligence began to engineer a plot to overthrow Mossadeq. The Iranian premier, however, got wind of the plan and called his supporters to take to the streets in protest. At this point, the Shah left the country for "medical reasons." While British intelligence backed away from the debacle, the CIA continued its covert operations in Iran. Working with pro-Shah forces and, most importantly, the Iranian military, the CIA cajoled, threatened, and bribed its way into influence and helped to organize another coup attempt against Mossadeq. On August 19, 1953, the military, backed by street protests organized and financed by the CIA, overthrew Mossadeq. The Shah quickly returned to take power and, as thanks for the American help, signed over 40 percent of Iran's oil fields to U.S. companies. Mossadeq was arrested, served three years in prison, and died under house arrest in 1967. The Shah became one of America's most trusted Cold War allies, and U.S. economic and military aid poured into Iran during the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. In 1978, however, anti-Shah and anti-American protests broke out in Iran and the Shah was toppled from power in 1979. Angry militants seized the U.S. embassy and held the American staff hostage until January 1981. Nationalism, not communism, proved to be the most serious threat to U.S. power in Iran.

Server Problems

It seems our server at Hosting Matters is having a little difficulty lately. When you try to post a comment you may occasionally get an error message that the "server broke the connection". No, we're not mad at you. It does it to me and Vilmar too. There seems to be a problem on our server. I have filed a support ticket with Hosting Matters and they are looking into it. They are usually pretty good at resolving these issues quickly. Bear with us. If you get a double-posted comment, don't fret. Just let me know and I'll delete one of them for you.

An Idea Whose Time Has Come

Remember those 13 "Out of Line" Democrats? Sure you do! They were the assholes who peitioned the UN to have our elections monitored.

Well, our freinds at conservativepetitions.com have come up with an idea to have these 13 asshats censured. But they can't do it without your help. Here's a copy of an email I got from a local REC member.

TAKE ACTION! SEND MONEY! SIGN IT!! SEND THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS!!!

With America's honor at stake, we at ConservativePetitions.com want to personally thank you for standing against the 13 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives who chose to humiliate America before the world by sending a letter to the United Nations that indicates the Bush Administration, like some tin-pot dictatorship, cannot be trusted to conduct a fair election. We appreciate you signing the petition that calls on House leaders to censure the self-absorbed partisans. If you need to quickly check the petition again, here's the address.

You have made your voice heard in House hallways. For the 13 to be rightfully punished, though, it's going to take a loud outcry! We the people must make such an outcry that the House has no choice but to make an example of its embarrassing members.

Tell everyone you know! And in the days ahead, as additional people come to mind, remember you easily can alert them to this cause! Just return to the petition at ConservativePetitions.com.

The Democrats obviously will stop at nothing to steal the Oval Office. Let's make this tactic of grossly exaggerating the 2000 election controversy their last underhanded ploy. Won't you please encourage friends and family, coworkers and acquaintances to make a stand at ConservativePetitions.com?

For your convenience, an email message is provided below. Or put it in your own words.

P.S. Something must be done about public officials disregarding their oaths of office and denying the U.S. Constitution. Now is the time, with the election approaching, and this is the right opportunity for the American public to put its collective foot down.

New Troops In The Battle Of The Blogosphere

We've added a new blog site to our blogroll. It's called TS's Right Dominion. Scott has put up a pretty good site over there in the fight against Idiotarians, Kerry and other assorted Moonbats. His site is Certified Politically Correct Free. Scott rants almost as loudly and as well as our own Benevolent Dictator (Vilmar). Go check it out. We need to encourage this kind of behavior.

Scott also tipped me off to two Moonbat sites that I've added to our "Barking Moonbats" links on the sidebar. They are Conniptions and Free Speech. Check them out if you want a good laugh and a little insight into the mind of the enemy enema. They are definitely full of shit.

Been Busy

Sorry for the paucity of posting today but I've been busy trying to find a firearm.

Went to my local dealer and found a couple of interesting prospects which I will research a bit more on the 'net.

One is a Ruger P97 with night sites. He wants $425. I have no idea if that's a good price as I've not found an exact match on the web.

Another is a regular Ruger KP97 for $400. Both are never-fired weapons.

The last was a Glock M21 for $545.

You folks know more than I do about this stuff.

Basically I am looking for something not overly expensive in the 45 caliber category. Recommendations range from a ParaOrdnance, to Kimber, to Glock, Smith and Wesson and Ruger.

Hell, I just want something to kill bad people with. Maybe put 50 rounds a month through it. I have no intention of getting caught up in the "my target group MUST be in the less than 2 inch range at 25 yard on a bench rest before I buy it" category.

I want something that when the shit hits the fan, I can put thousands of rounds through it without needing to worry if the barrel can take it or if it will repeatedly misfire.

That's not much to ask, is it?

Next step? A Ruper GP 100. Hell, I even saw a VERY nice Taurus 8 shot. Sweet looking little thing in a 6 inch barrel.

Then a carry pistol (with holster, natch!)

Then a conceled weapons permit class.

Anyone care to share thoughts?

May The Force Be With You

20th Century Fox And Lucasfilms are finally going to release Star Wars, Episode IV through VI on DVD. It will be a four-disc collection with and extra director's commentary and special scenes. Suggested retail price .... $70 but you can pre-order through Amazon for only $41.99.

The bad news: The versions of Lucas' beloved films that are on these new DVDs are not the original theatrical releases but the special editions that played in theaters in 1997. Rumor have circulated about additional changes. As long as Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) is still in that skimpy outfit in Episode V (or was it VI?), I don't care. Mheh-heh ....

Haircuts, Advice, And Hairy Men

By now you've heard about Kerry flying in a hair stylist to trim his mop, right? Yep, I wrote about it yesterday. She's the same one he'd used before and the same person I'd commented on back in April.

Funny how the press never seems to criticize the "man of the middle class working stiff" for using French born hair stylists and tours around with a manservant. I don't know about you but when I take a trip somewhere I do not pay for my neighbor (who is also my barber) to fly out and give me a trim. Nor have I ever had a "manservant."

I guess there ARE two America's as the Breck Girl so often mentions: one that The Poodle and The Breck Girl live in and another where we live.

My point? Hell, who knows? I detest The Poodle so much sometimes I revert to randomness in my rants.

Let's see.....where was I going with this? Oh! YEAH!! The Poodle.

Not only does he get "several thousand dollar" haircuts AND has a personal manservant, he also dispenses dating tips. Along those lines comes this from The Opinion Journal's Best of the Web.

As is so typical of his "do as I say but not as I do" philosophy, read this and think, "Teh-RAY-Zah"

"Look for what gets your heart. Someone who excites you, turns you on. . . . It's a woman who loves being a woman. Who wears her womanhood. Who knows how to flirt and have fun. Smart. Confident. . . . And obviously sexy and saucy and challenging."

Once more, think, "Teh-RAY-Zah." You getting the same disconnect I got? (sexy? saucy? fun? flirty?)

We may be told to follow this advice but what Kerry did was just the opposite. He followed the "money, money, money, money!"

While on the subject of haircuts and hair, remember I posted about this Chinese guy considered to be one of the hairiest in the world?

Here's a more updated picture along with another story highlighting the two who ARE the hairiest people on earth.
